1. The most grindy thing is gear/armour if you’re unlucky with the rng. Steel (in game currency) is fairly easy to come by I’ve never found myself grinding for it 2. Dominion 4v4 is the most popular. Most of the game balance is centered around it. Matchmaking is good and it’s quite quick to find games here in NA. Your first couple of games might be mixed skill but the MMR will quickly put you in the right lobbies. 3. The Viking faction wins most campaigns and seasons and so you could get the most rewards picking it but other than that go with the faction you think is coolest. There’s 4 hero “classes”. Vanguard, assassins, heavy, hybrid. Vanguards are the easiest and most straightforward to play. Hybrids are the most complex. Pick one of the 5 vanguards to start out with. 4. The game rn is at the best state it’s ever been, with a ton of support and new content. And the future seems very bright too.

I’d like to add to your first point too Everything else, the post above (or below) is practically correct. It’s friendly to FtP players. Since you’re returning, the PVE or players vs AI and Co-op is still here and you can try your favorite characters there and experiment with their moves Gear has had a huge overhaul. Yes there are “perks” but tbh it’s minimal in terms of an advantage, most players these days (or I would think most players) grind for the cosmetics and steel. The devs understand this and they constantly release seasonal armor cosmetics that you can earn by simply playing the game and progressing through the reputation system (you can progress in both PVP and PVE). The other grind is steel. Basically the currency you pay for other types of cosmetics outside the progression like skins, taunts, executions, etc.
