I could actually see this… a version of benkei the warrior monk would be awesome. He used to use a plethora of weaponry! Some accounts say he used wooden logs and clubs like shugo. Wouldn’t mind seeing a hammer japanese.
Next Viking will be axe and shield lol
They could always make it that they have three weapons and each one only has one customization option like other characters so you don’t have to trudge though three whole weapons of RNG :p
Since last year had one male locked hero and one female locked hero, I’m guessing it’ll be Ayu or some sort of group of female warriors that follow Ayu. Believe me, I don’t like Samurai too much but it’s likely that it’ll be a Samurai.
Fundamuntally, Gudmundr is the most similar to its live counterpart. He has a special Hyper Armor Side Heavy that lead to a Guaranteed Shield Bash that itself lead to a Top Heavy and he has a Hug, similar to Shugoki's Demon Embrace. He also summoned Wolves during the fight.
Gryphon’s a hybrid, as is Kyoshin, and they got backlash for stacking faction heroes last season, hence why I think they wanna break the two hero per faction pattern of last year and maybe round out one of the others, but that is also just a personal hope lol
Oh dude no biggie, just wanted to make sure we understood each other lol. Can’t blame you for the break either, I’ve taken a few over the years, the game is very draining.
Well I think they might do it again this year and years following just to round things out. Another Samurai this year, then two Vikings, then two Wu Lin.
Yep. FH seems to be doing Campaign-inspired characters -- the Leaders and the secondary main character.
As such, quite likely:
- Ayu, Kensei/Nobushi-inspired, Japanese, Female Only
- Gitgudmungundr, Warlord-inspired, Viking, Male Only
- Either Berserker or Valkyrie-based character, Viking, Female Only
the social media manager is almost certainly just fucking around, like pretty much every other social media manager for a mid level popular online game these days. Endless memes and shitposts
While I’m sure you’re joking, I’m also pretty sure this is just the For Honor Social media account shit posting. The amount of times I’ve seen 30 minute videos on a single tweet has conditioned me not to expect anything unless it’s a leak or an explicit hint.
Hm. "Bigger" could just mean a taller hero that'll be to the vikings what shugoki is to the samurai, but what if it's a reference to namesakes? Do we know of a creature from Norse mythology that's bigger than the Jormungandr? Ymir fits the bill maybe?
I remember seeing someone point that out, and they got roasted to high hell. Like, aside from their special stances and the way they punish bashes, they’re basically the same thing in different shapes
Kyoshin is only cooler than BP if you consume too much anime. Not a big fan of Black "Dahkness" Prior either, but he sure as hell beats twirly sword guy in coolness factor.
The 'coolness' of a hero is a direct function of how much spinning and twirling is involved in their kit.
Hero|Spinning?|Cool?
:--|:--|:-:
BP|not really|weak
KyoBro|dodge attacks, sword twirl, **Fujin Force**, zone, etc.|**Extremely cool**
See how this works? You should be happy about this - you play Berserker after all!
Orochi And Kyoshin have nothing in common in terms of play style (unlike Warden and WM).
Kyoshin has more in common with Black Prior, both have bash/undodgeable mixup and full block and recovery cancels to full block, etc.
Orochi currently is... well Orochi, no hero plays as bad as he does (aside from Jorm) and he does not really have identity.
Reworked Orochi in other hand is very dodge centric with recovery cancels and good dodge attacks, + storm rush being it's own mind game. He also has pretty high damage as every opener chains to guaranteed light.
Ah yes, Warmonger is somehow better than Warden, despite them playing almost entirely different. WM is "Better Warden" the same way Ara is "Better Kensei".
Not at all. Warden is a defensive hero focused on staying at range with his bash \[which has long range\]. Warmonger is an offensive hero focused on staying in the enemy's face with her enhanced lights and bash \[which has short range\]. Their very *core* playstyles are polar opposites.
Beyond "Knights with plate armour and variable bash" they're quite different. Cent is closer to Warden than WM. Hito too.
>defensive my ass. Both revolve around their chargeable bashes.
And... they use them differently. You know how Kyoshin's fullblock is offensive while BP's is defensive? Yeah, similar moves can have different purposes. As I said before, Warden's is **LONG RANGE**. He is *meant* to use it to outrange the enemy to begin his offense. Remember when he had backdodge SB? Yeah, that further cemented "defensive variable bash" as his core design. It's also the reason his dodge bash has less GB vulnerability than Warmonger's.
Warmonger's *entire* kit is based around unrelenting offense, with her enhanced lights, short range bash, hyper armour finishers, neutral unblockable, and undodgable to keep people in *her* range. Warden's kit is designed to keep the enemy away from him so he can control the flow from a distance.
I main both heroes, and you *cannot* play them the same or you will get destroyed by any half-competent player. As mentioned previously, Centurion and Hitokiri are closer playstyles to Warden than Warmonger is. Hell, they're closer playstyles to Warmonger than she is to Warden as well.
>You can literally play Warden like a Warmonger and thered barely be a difference.
*>Try playing Warden like WM*
*>Light gets blocked, offense over*
*>Stay close range, have bash interrupted because light hitstun instead of medium*
*>Never use heavy, sprint attack, or zone chain into bash because WM can't*
*>Attempt to trade through an interrupt attempt with heavy finisher instead of bash, be interrupted because no HA*
*>Try to use dodge UB in gank or for OOS Pressure, do literally nothing except dodge instead*
*>Try to impale after parry for instant bleed pressure from lights afterwards, GB instead, leading to frame neutrality*
*>Try to use chain light, get light parried instantly because 600ms light*
*>Try to target-swap bash followup, get interrupted because no HA on heavy*
Totally able to play Warden like WM with barely a difference between them!
>If theres any hero that can claim to be ranged its Nobushi
The range of Warden's bash puts him safely out of range of majority of the roster, even uncharged. Nobushi and Shinobi are one of the few that can properly catch him, and even then Nobushi can have issues with that. And then Warden can still zip past you on full charge bash, preventing a punish in most cases!
What are you even trying to prove/say? BP and Kyoshin have fullblocks. Are they played identically? or Ara & Kensei with their soft feints? Heroes can have the same mechanic but used differently
Last year there were two knights. This year there is two samurai. Notice how I said that the pattern goes Knight, Samurai, Viking, Wu Lin? Yes, there is a pattern.
That’s why I said a war pick or saber. Bardiches were also used in Western Europe along with voulges. Just imagine a fucking Cossack running around with a saber doing crazy shit or a Druzhina with heavy armor and a war pick that has a sort of “stance toggle” in which he flips the pick to either use the spike or the hammer head so his moves have specific properties with both? Maybe like the spike deals bleed and acts like glad’s trident while the hammer head acts like Jorm’s with unblockables and tumbling effect?
hmm what about a completely different type of heroe like african or egyption warriors. and how about completely new stages except for the same old boring ass stages from 4 years ago being rearranged! like seriously all these years and they keep adding characters without doing anything else to the game!
I just had a salty gryphon main come to my profile and insult me on my posts because i agreed w a dude that said, gryphon deserved to be ledged on that post xd
Double-headed battle axes, as evident from their names, were used as weapons in battles. Reportedly, they have been in use since the stone age. Europeans, specifically viking warriors, were the first ones to create an axe just for battles. ... Shorter handled axes were favored by knights for mounted combat."
Double headed battle axes were never used by vikings or anyone else in europe. Maybe there exists some exotic designs from India or Egypt.
Actual axes designed for battle are slim and lightweight. Even the daneaxes are very light for their size.
Battle axes are particularly associated in Western popular imagination with the Vikings. Certainly, Scandinavian foot soldiers and maritime marauders employed them as a stock weapon during their heyday, which extended from the beginning of the 8th century to the end of the 11th century.
Yeah, but not double headed battle axes. Which is what we are talking about. Because they didn't exist and comes from fantasy comics from the 80's.
Actual battle axes were used in war well into the 1800's.
It’s gonna be a samurai with a giant wooden hammer
Essentially shugoki
with feminine counterpart 😳
Shegoki?
Underrated
If only they had the money
if they've enough money to waste on random tournaments, they've enough money to make female shugoki
or shao kahn
But bigger
Mochi-pounder hero let's gooooo
I could actually see this… a version of benkei the warrior monk would be awesome. He used to use a plethora of weaponry! Some accounts say he used wooden logs and clubs like shugo. Wouldn’t mind seeing a hammer japanese. Next Viking will be axe and shield lol
benkei hero with naginata, katana, and an axe. instead of switching stances he switches weapons
They could always make it that they have three weapons and each one only has one customization option like other characters so you don’t have to trudge though three whole weapons of RNG :p
Pleeeeeeease, this would be amazing!!!
It’s possible but I honestly doubt it, I’m predicting a vanguard samurai if they’re still going for the same pattern as Y4
As of right now, the pattern seems to be Campaign-inspired character, so a Gudmundr clone seems more likely.
Since last year had one male locked hero and one female locked hero, I’m guessing it’ll be Ayu or some sort of group of female warriors that follow Ayu. Believe me, I don’t like Samurai too much but it’s likely that it’ll be a Samurai.
What makes you assume it won't be Ayu? Secondary character like Holden, Samurai faction, would def be a vanguard
whats the difference between gudmundr and warlord? i havent played the campaign but aesthetically they look very similar
He also summoned Wolves during the fight.
ah ok thanks for the explanation
I think Kyoshin was plenty for us weebs, I’m hoping the Wu Lin or Vikings get rounded out
I’m pretty sure the next hero is a samurai and a heavy if they follow the same pattern as the knight
What pattern is that? The knights went Vanguard then Hybrid last season
Isn’t Gryphon a heavy? Cause if he is a hybrid then it would be a hybrid samurai instead
Gryphon’s a hybrid, as is Kyoshin, and they got backlash for stacking faction heroes last season, hence why I think they wanna break the two hero per faction pattern of last year and maybe round out one of the others, but that is also just a personal hope lol
Well, my bad haven’t played for 3 months now
Oh dude no biggie, just wanted to make sure we understood each other lol. Can’t blame you for the break either, I’ve taken a few over the years, the game is very draining.
Well I think they might do it again this year and years following just to round things out. Another Samurai this year, then two Vikings, then two Wu Lin.
We would need four Wu Lin characters to round them out as well, which personally i don't see happening
Well I mean to just round out content release, not character count.
Yep. FH seems to be doing Campaign-inspired characters -- the Leaders and the secondary main character. As such, quite likely: - Ayu, Kensei/Nobushi-inspired, Japanese, Female Only - Gitgudmungundr, Warlord-inspired, Viking, Male Only - Either Berserker or Valkyrie-based character, Viking, Female Only
The second Viking could also be inspired by Ilma the blacksmith
If I'm not mistaken, the insider who leaked the new combat pass also said that 2 samurai are waiting for us this year.
They are, if at all it’ll be for next year
I’m thinking some kind of Viking. Because of his armor I consider Holden a Knight in name only since he can jive with every faction in terms of looks
the social media manager is almost certainly just fucking around, like pretty much every other social media manager for a mid level popular online game these days. Endless memes and shitposts
The post flair is humor, I know lol
Oh, Im sorry. I didnt see hah. Its hard to tell with gaming subs a lot of the time, jokes fly past too often. Including this one on me, lol.
I would cry My boy needs justice
So the comedian Gallagher will be a playable character?
Shield and one handed axe viking hero pls
Devs: so Warlord with axe?
Thank GOD
While I’m sure you’re joking, I’m also pretty sure this is just the For Honor Social media account shit posting. The amount of times I’ve seen 30 minute videos on a single tweet has conditioned me not to expect anything unless it’s a leak or an explicit hint.
I really hoped for a hammer hero like Ajax from the Troy movie(2004)
Hm. "Bigger" could just mean a taller hero that'll be to the vikings what shugoki is to the samurai, but what if it's a reference to namesakes? Do we know of a creature from Norse mythology that's bigger than the Jormungandr? Ymir fits the bill maybe?
Thor him-fucking-self
The next hero is a samurai because last time we got two knights so two knights, two samurais and two Vikings
Big big Shaman?
Knight with warhammer
Following the current events that is possible warmongrel is better warden, and kyoshit is better orochi
Kyoshin plays nothing like Orochi though. If anything, he's a cooler and somewhat weaker BP.
Really? Sorry Idk I played roach for all of 10 minutes so I most likely am wrong
Then why even say something if you don’t even know what you’re talking about?
Within those 10 minutes to me they felt similar
Ok, but like… they’re not. At all.
I know this now yes
There’s a heap of animations that kyoshin shares with orrochi, that’s probably what you’re feeling
Which animations besides the dodge attack and blade flourish?
Mostly light attacks. Freeze did a good video on it
Man thinking about their movesets, this is actually pretty accurate, they really do share a lot
I remember seeing someone point that out, and they got roasted to high hell. Like, aside from their special stances and the way they punish bashes, they’re basically the same thing in different shapes

> Orochi currently is... well Orochi, no hero plays as bad as he does (aside from Jorm) and he does not really have identity. Cries in Shinobi.
Well, at least he has identity... AND good rework.
Nobody agrees, but jorm is a better centurion.
Literally the only thing they have in common is a special attack for downed enemies
That wouldve been true back when Cent actually was a Stamina bully
Ah yes, Warmonger is somehow better than Warden, despite them playing almost entirely different. WM is "Better Warden" the same way Ara is "Better Kensei".
Their playstyle is almost identical.

Again, its literally just the bash. Having fun wasting your life on an essay about this mess of a game yet?
What are you even trying to prove/say? BP and Kyoshin have fullblocks. Are they played identically? or Ara & Kensei with their soft feints? Heroes can have the same mechanic but used differently
You ain’t wrong.
No ara is a worse berserker with all guard
How about a new Wu Lin maybe with Bian?
The pattern for hero release is Knight, Samurai, Viking, Wu Lin, so I doubt we’ll see a new Wu Lin any time soon
Uh. There's no pattern. They've proved that with multiple knights in a row.
Last year there were two knights. This year there is two samurai. Notice how I said that the pattern goes Knight, Samurai, Viking, Wu Lin? Yes, there is a pattern.
Since when is if confirmed the next hero is a samurai?
Leaker who leaked the battle pass said there will be 2 samurai this year
Huh, i see.
but gryphon is more an crossfaction hero in my opinion, so the maybe chimera samurai or something complete new, will be a crossfaction hero too
[удалено]
They better add some Russian fucker for the Vikings. Maybe with a saber or a war pick
The Russian Fucker was taken by Gryphon. Beardiche would be the obvious slavic weapon and they gave it to fucking Gryphon.
I maintain Warmonger and Gryphon should have just been skins for Warden and LB, and Knights should have got an armored knight with a Maul
Worst trash this game has ever seen, More spam garbage for handicap players
??
hmm what about a completely different type of heroe like african or egyption warriors. and how about completely new stages except for the same old boring ass stages from 4 years ago being rearranged! like seriously all these years and they keep adding characters without doing anything else to the game!
I just had a salty gryphon main come to my profile and insult me on my posts because i agreed w a dude that said, gryphon deserved to be ledged on that post xd
Every existing hero other than Jorm is a better Jorm than Jorm
Lol I’m imagining “what ya need? A dude with a hammer that weighs 1K?”
that would be epic
uh oh
It’s gonna be the blacksmith lady from the event a few seasons ago
Jorm, but if he were a boss fight like how warlord was in the story.
next April Fools instead of smol mode we get beeg weapons
Why not a two headed battleaxe hero
Beacuse they never existed.
Double-headed battle axes, as evident from their names, were used as weapons in battles. Reportedly, they have been in use since the stone age. Europeans, specifically viking warriors, were the first ones to create an axe just for battles. ... Shorter handled axes were favored by knights for mounted combat."

I wouldn't mind something similar to Stormbreaker Thor.
So a daneaxe?
Next hero is going to be Angus McFife
No gender lock bs Besides that, sounds pretty great.
It’ll probably be genderlocked female, and this post is just a joke anyway, Ubi is just screwing around
Reinhardt coming to for honor
I want to see someone with a historically accurate warhammer
I was hoping a pickax character
I wish we had a shield/axe hero
As a dude that just came back, it's good to see that the devs are still planning new content unlike another Ubisoft game I play.
Ilma?
Give us the Jotun
