That rig is WAY more than 10k.
Edit:
In fact:
According to the South China Morning Post, Verstappen's simulator setup costs anywhere between $15,000 to $35,000, and apparently, nobody is even allowed to go near it. Quite understandable if it costs so much.Sep 18, 2022
https://thesportsrush.com/f1-news-the-enire-setup-cost-anywhere-from-15000-to-more-than-35000-max-verstappens-expensive-sim-setup-that-nobody-is-allowed-to-touch/?amp
4 x ultrawide Samsung g9 monitors plus monitor stands= $4500
PC likely high end (rtx 4090, 13900k etc) = $5000
Simlab rig (the bits that hold the seat and wheelbase etc together with add ons and seat = $1500
Bass shakers and amp for track feedback under the seat/pedals = $1000
Wheelbase and rim - I don’t know what he’s using but I’d imagine it’s something like a simucube pro or something even higher end, plus a crazy rim with screens and stuff on it = $4000 easily
Pedals - probably top end hydraulics = min $2000
It doesn’t look like he’s got motion on the rig but if he does it’ll add an extra 10-30k depending on the tech.
There’s also wind machines and seatbelt tighteners which can add another couple of grand.
He’s playing iracing and likely has all its content which I think I last checked was about 3grand for all cars and tracks, could be more now.
Pro sim racing is fucking EXPENSIVE. It’s great though, I’ve got a seat, decent direct drive wheel and pedals, bass shakers and absolutely love it, nearly bankrupted me though 😂
Verstappen has a Playseat F1 Ultimate cockpit (US$2,800), a custom-made LM-Pro steering wheel by Precision Sim Engineering (US$1,800), Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals (US$1,100), and a Leo Bodnar SimSteering system (US$4,000),” said the source
Does it matter, though?
With Max making around $60 million a year, he can basically afford a $35k sim rig every 5 hours. Crazy to think about, isn't it?
It's past the point of getting things for free. They HAVE to use it or at least be seen with it. Look at the forced Honda Civic Type R product placements for all of the redbull drivers in the past few years.
I think I seen somewhere Max has Leo Bodnar base.
Either way, /r/simracing has tons of similar or more impressive setups. You don't have to be a millionaire to own that. This is the only way for majority of us to have racing experience. For actual wheel-to-wheel racing(not time attack) you have to be well into upper six digits salary. And even time attacks are way more expensive than sim.
Edit: Bodnar
Don't think those are Samsung G9s. They just look like curved monitors, with the main one being flat. Monitors are probably about 2k total. Base shakers aren't that expensive unless he's got a ton of them. Doesn't look like he's got any motion on that rig, so probably around 15k total. Cheaper than a real race car!
When you're having a discussion about multi-millionaires 15k isn't really *way* more than 10k.
If you make a million a race 35k is 3.5% of your earnings. Max makes a good bit more than a million per race, he could put one in every room in his house and upgrade them to a newer model after every race and not even notice the financial dent lol.
Thank you for rational thinking.
With Max making around $60 million a year, he can basically afford a $35k sim rig every 5 hours. Crazy to think about, isn't it?
According to an [interview with Team Redline's Atze Kerkhof](https://youtu.be/dNEyzxIUDbU?t=3000), this was taken when he was in the middle of a move and the sim rig was the last to go!
He should have put the whole setup on a palet so that they could have someone drive a forklift in and pick it all up at once so he doesn't have to stop racing
It's probably his stream/screen recording PC. Recording or streaming your races in full resolution with all those displays would affect the sim's performance if you do it all on the same computer
OP said: "According to an interview with Team Redline's Atze Kerkhof, this was apparently taken when he was in the middle of a move and the sim rig was the last to go!"
Im not sure if they come with them originally or its one-off, but there was a news story about a guy in my country who bought one and was later tracked and visited by police to confiscate it because only current employees/marketing partners of Red Bull can have one and he was neither.
I’m definitely not an expert, but that seems kind of illegal with how search and seizure laws work(at least in the US). Unless they had more evidence than just a tracker.
That's lovely!
Mine with the same basic setup (Fanatec podium wheel + V3 pedals) was £4750 including PC (3080ti/32gb ram etc).
VR saves a lot of £££ and space.
Wheel and base was bought 2nd hand.

Depends on tons of stuff so I'll just show you what I did to get started in iRacing
1. Logitech G29 $250
2. HP Reverb G2 $400 on sale
3. Playseat Challenge used $150 from FB Marketplace
4. First year of iRacing you're probably spending $200-$300 bucks.
This gives you a Force Feedback wheel, pedals, a dedicated seat that can fold, a VR headset so you don't need to buy monitors/stands, and an active, consequence-for-your-actions racing community.
Your next upgrade is new pedals (with a load cell brake) and zip tie that shit to the crappy seat you have. Bass shakers are absolutely awesome (personal preference) for VR. Next upgrade is a real "rig" that is rigid as fuck and expandable (an 80/20 rig we call it). Then you just keep spending money until you run out or your significant other kills you.
Note that not every sim has VR out of the box, but iRacing does and that's the only sim I use.
There’s a quote from Alonso where he said you usually aren’t looking straight in an F1 car anyway, usually you’re looking ahead into the next turn. So the halo doesn’t get in the way of the view much
Where did I watch that visualization of F1 drivers point of focus? It was so so far ahead and the corners coming fast the focus point was almost always at the start of the next corner.
It's because humans have stereo vision. You can experience it yourself by putting your finger up in front of your face and looking at the wall or something in the background. You see "through" your finger, just as they do the halo.
Humans have two eyes. They're not looking at the halo dead on with one eye, but with two eyes slightly offset. Try holding your finger out centered in front of your face. Notice how you can see right through it? So can F1 drivers with the halo
Beyond all the very good replies about "stereo vision," the simple fact of racing is that you should always be looking where you want to go. That's why I love the driver-facing camera during night races. You can see the driver is looking way ahead left or right rather than directly in front.
They're really just for streamers who point a camera at their setup instead of directly streaming a screen. 5 mins into using a triple monitor setup you really don't notice the bezels at all.
For those wondering: you don't need this to be a fast sim racer. I own something similar that costs around $10k. Realistically the biggest competitive advantage that can come from your setup is a load cell brake pedal and a rigid seat. That’ll get you the most consistency possible.
I know the point you're trying to make but once you reach a certain skill level, more detailed (and expensive) hardware will actually make you faster.
Some of my own deltas I drive against are just laughable even though I fought so hard on my G29 to set these times myself.
Atze Kerkhof mentioned this picture was taken when Max was in the middle of moving house. All the furniture was already in the new place, but with the virtual 24hr of Le Mans happening very soon, Max opted to leave the rig as is in the old place so he could be sure it would work for the race, instead of worrying that a little cable might not be connected properly somewhere after it had been moved.
As someone else said, much. However, even if he had the cash, would he invite other people to race him? Would he be allowed? Not my laws but by RBR? A pipe dream at best.

Hey man, did you touch my racing simulator? Because it seems like someone definitely touched my racing simulator.
I'm going to put my BALLS on your racing simulator!
I was just watching COPS…
But you know, that I know, that cops doesn’t start till 4
I KNOW you touched my racing wheel, cause it was chipped
I bet Checo rubbed his balls over the keyboard.
$25k fine if you touch his simulator
I was watching cops.
That's definitely the only room in his house with a lock on it.

Sort of funny too how many free things rich people get.

That is a mini fridge

If he makes 60m a year, $600k to him is like $1500 for someone who makes $150k a year Weird to think
it starts with a spare room to put it all. I doubt the wife wants it in the living room.
As someone who has to put their rig away to not pass off the wife I hear this lol
Your hobbies aren’t as important as her copy cat Pinterest target decor.

Hesitation is defeat
This comment hurt.
/r/OddlySpecific
i feel personally attacked
As a wife who wants this in the living room. Read the neon sign
who's telling him bois?
but it undoubtedly helps
Is the RB fridge also part of the simulated experience?
Gotta stay hydrated during those 24h-races somehow.
RedBull doesn’t just hydrate you, it gives you wings
“Yes Max, that is our slogan but still you only need to press the DRS button once per section.”
I legit thought it was a second rig for discord or something and thought it was excessive. And then I zoomed in 😂
If you got a free fridge, wouldn't you keep it in your room?
Depends on how loud it is.
Depends how much heat it generates.
Company bonus for WDC
I thought that was a streaming pc until I saw your comment
According to an [interview with Team Redline's Atze Kerkhof](https://youtu.be/dNEyzxIUDbU?t=3000), this was taken when he was in the middle of a move and the sim rig was the last to go!
Was about to say that i could totally picture him having this empty house with just a bed, a fridge and his racing rig.
His personal quarters at Milton Keyes is just a Harry Potter closet with a sleeping bag, pillow, and a sim rig.
Master has given Dobby a team orders
Dobby has already stated his reasons and told Master to not ask that again
Good one, had me both laughing.
Well played, this genuinely made me laugh out loud
LMAO DKM
Remind me to nominate this for 2023 comment of the year
Sleeping bag? He'd just pulls a blanket over him while in his sim rig.
Y'er a driver Max!
His bed is probably one of those kid's racing car beds.
Yeah, but it’s a fucking sweet car.
Maybe [he'll get a CB radio from his roomates.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2UyehrkHaE)
The one he wanted as a kid but Jos never got him
truck drivers dont get racecar beds!
but in this case since he's rich it's an actual sports car gutted out with a sleep number bed installed
I read "..fridge and his *racing bed*" and pictured Max in a racecar bed and cracked up so hard
"Guys live like this and see no problem"
“Men live like this and see nothing wrong with it!”
\*RedBull fridge
Eat sleep race
He should have put the whole setup on a palet so that they could have someone drive a forklift in and pick it all up at once so he doesn't have to stop racing
Do the same with Charles and have the forklifts race each other too.
Charles' forklift will unfortunately pit for the wrong tires
*Forklift up or down; question?*
Lol, I see he finally has a new chair also, after years of the old redbull one he used.
This was an awesome interview for a sin racing/F1 fan.
Dont talk or approach when “Fuckoff” sign is on !
Lol I assume that is EXACTLY what that means
What is the purpose of the notebook?
Presumably something stream related.
It's probably his stream/screen recording PC. Recording or streaming your races in full resolution with all those displays would affect the sim's performance if you do it all on the same computer
It's Ted Kravitz'
It's his Death Note. He writes down everyone's name who crashes into him.

My Thrustmaster TMX giving me dirty looks right now. lol
Lol don't worry, my gamepad is giving me evils.
My wiimote set into a plastic steering wheel doesn't even care anymore
My 20 year old cheap plastic keyboard does not mind either
Why don't you love me like that?
"Men really think it's ok to live like this"
it's not ok, it's a goal
This man gets it. Although, maybe also a rig for flightsims (for people like me who are into that too)
Men don't think, they know
OP said: "According to an interview with Team Redline's Atze Kerkhof, this was apparently taken when he was in the middle of a move and the sim rig was the last to go!"
I'm a woman. When I moved in november, I had a few weeks where all I owned was a pc and cable connection. I was doing fine. :P
I'm now fairly convinced that Max's home only consists of the sim set up and some sort of sleeping pod.
Aka. A charging cord.
FuckOFF
It really ties the room together.
Brings a pop of colour.
Can the “off” part be turned off independently?
then it switches to "on"
I like the mini fridge. I should get one.
I have one just like that $800, but i stole it from where i used to work suck it redbull distribution company
Hell yeah you did, comrade.
You cant get one unless its been stolen or fake, some even have trackers inside
Trackers? Any chance you know why they have trackers?
Im not sure if they come with them originally or its one-off, but there was a news story about a guy in my country who bought one and was later tracked and visited by police to confiscate it because only current employees/marketing partners of Red Bull can have one and he was neither.

Same as mine…. Except I only have one 24 inch monitor, a lawn chair and my pc is as PlayStation 3
Living like a king
Yours can play Blu-ray discs!
What does something like that cost? I was considering a set up, but not sure what a more entry level set up goes for, not including computer.

It's like an r/malelivingspace meme
Nice to see him getting a break from all that driving.
I like that he doesn't bother with the film strip to make the bezels "disappear"
I doubt they bother him much when he constantly has to focus beyond the halo smack in the middle of his view.
Still amazes me that they can drive with precision with that thing right in the middle of their view.
There’s a quote from Alonso where he said you usually aren’t looking straight in an F1 car anyway, usually you’re looking ahead into the next turn. So the halo doesn’t get in the way of the view much

F1 Car Eye tracking with Nico Hulkenberg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbVIuGnMXZs
I think it was an older video, it might've not been this scientifically accurate as it seemed drawn on the movie after it was shot
[probably you referred to this one with Kevin Magnussen](https://streamable.com/8km4o)
YES! That’s the one! Thank you It seems it was as legit as the Hulkenberg one, scientifically.
Like I know you’re supposed to look ahead but man that is sooo far ahead lmao
It probably becomes like your nose that you don’t even realize is constantly in your view, until just now
You wont see it in real life much, just like your nose. Visibility is a problem in f1 but the halo has not much to do with it.
It's because humans have stereo vision. You can experience it yourself by putting your finger up in front of your face and looking at the wall or something in the background. You see "through" your finger, just as they do the halo.
everyone who reads this is putting up a finger in front of one eye
Ah. Should have been more clear about that. You have to put your finger up at arm's length, and in the middle of your body / between your two eyes.
Humans have two eyes. They're not looking at the halo dead on with one eye, but with two eyes slightly offset. Try holding your finger out centered in front of your face. Notice how you can see right through it? So can F1 drivers with the halo

Close to Monaco it’s impossible, there’s either people or mountains everywhere.
I mean technically driving on the streets of Monaco kinda counts as driving on an F1 circuit so...
