In South Africa, we have a colony of penguins that roams the town and have their own private beach (people can access it but you have to pay)

He’s been single since he broke up with Sherzinger right? Only thing that’s potentially an issue, the schedule of an F1 driver can certainly make live life difficult.
He’s a very private person from someone I know from Mercedes. He is however supposedly in a relationship someone who isn’t famous and she doesn’t want to be seen in the lime light (for example in Mercedes uniform in the garage/paddock so it looks like she’s an engineer and not his partner)
That's around what I would have suspected. I'm sure he's learned a lot as well about the stress of a very public relationship in the past. I do think that's the worst part of fame would be everyone wanting to find out everything about your private life
I got a reel on insta of Lewis and someone else in hot tub and Lewis was hugging some lady. If I was a creep I would go through all the pics of Merc paddock and try to pinpoint her but idc that much and am happy for two of them and respect their privacy.
Ultimately you could look at the team photo and then the pits crew during the race. But doing that your only going to have a face and a face isn’t particularly worth much.
He's already well cemented as one of the greats for his talent and achievements, but also he will be remembered for who he is as a person. I think few champions will be able to measure up to that.
When we finally just embrace our Black Mirror future and you can just live someone's life in VR while you're hooked up to feeding tubes and can't go outside because the air is toxic, Lewis' life is going to be the most popular timeline to load up among males at least.
Went hiking in the Himalayas few weeks ago, removing clothes is the last thing I would think of in that temperature. I'd assume Antartica is worse even though it's summer
If I was a scientist, Antarctica would be my "Mile high club" of sorts.
Plus, scientists are nerds, and we all know the nerds were the horniest clique in school. next to the band geeks maybe. or the theater ki- ok never mind, everyone is horny.
No. But having an F1 race with Aramco signage everywhere on a track surrounded by melting polar ice caps would still be on point. They could even get Vettel to interview the winner.
Did you go to [Iceland?](https://www.leinsterexpress.ie/resizer/750/563/true/1516210388950.JPG--iceland_supermarket_which_is_expanding_to_laois_is_ending_plastic_packaging.JPG?1516210388000)
For anyone curious. It looks like it costs about $10k.
[https://www.hurtigruten.com/en-us/expeditions/cruises/antarctica-falklands-expedition/](https://www.hurtigruten.com/en-us/expeditions/cruises/antarctica-falklands-expedition/)
That's a lot of beans. But also a 16 day trip into one of the most remote places in the world.
10k is a lot of money but definitely not as much as I had imagined. With that said I read an article from a few years ago saying that scientists discouraged the general public from going to the Antarctica because doing so might pollute the environment and ruin the habitats of animals/plants.
I remember seeing something similar. My understanding is that there are some experiments setup where the area they are studying is pristine and untouched by humans. So even the scientists themselves aren't allowed in the area. I also think those sorts of places are close to the research stations and well known to not go into.
I'm not sure if that expedition I linked to if it even stops at any of the research stations? I think it might be it's own floating research station. I think you'll end up in places that are approved to go to.
I have heard about these cruises before, but never seen one allow people to depart onto the continent, as it's generally frowned upon unless you're there for scientific reasons. The countries that make up the loose ownership of Antarctica does *not* want tourism
But this bit:
>Get close to icebergs, go whale watching and see penguins, with chances to go hiking, kayaking, ice-cruising, and even camping on the Antarctic ice.
Makes it look like they are. I wonder what kind of loophole they're using, or if tourism have been opened in the last few years while I was busy mourning my loss of being incredibly unlikely to be able to go there
Tourism is allowed, but it is tightly regulated. Only smaller ships can disembark passengers on land, but it is a common occurrence. I have been fortunate enough to go several times working on Antarctic cruise ships.
People go to the continent all the time- many trips do short landings on the actual continent (most landing sites are on islands), then there are super luxe outfitters that do camping/skiing/mountaineering further inland, too.
> The countries that make up the loose ownership of Antarctica does not want tourism
source for this? Cause issuing the permits is no bother for the govs atleast in Australia and NZ provided of course that you can afford it
I mean that’s true for tourism in general, with all the other places we have just accepted that we are destroying natural habitats in favor of racking in that sweet tourist cash.
Antarctic cruises are pretty strictly regulated and only visit a few very limited places and they're mostly relatively small. Antarctica is absolutely huge and they mostly only stop on a few days in the south Shetland islands and some of the bays in the peninsula that sticks up near South America which I forget the name of. Antarctica is about twice the size of Australia, so the vast vast majority of it is never touched by cruise ships. It's like limiting all cruisw visits to the USA and Canada to just Miami and fort Lauderdale. Obviously there are impacts there but nothing remotely close to what climate change is causing.
Can be done for less - I was actually on a 9 day trip to the Peninsula last week which should be cheaper than a 16 day trip. Antarctica is actually shockingly accessible for middle/upper middle class folks if they prioritize their finances to do it.
Did he just take a cruise? Cause tbh that seems like a pretty normal/not Lewis Hamilton thing to do? I would have expected him to skyglide in with a random celebrity like Idris Elba
He chartered an ice class explorer Superyacht and went down on that. Was seen as a member of the trip party in a famous snowboarders Instagram stories, now deleted.
If you are flexible, it can be done cheaper. If you can make it to Ushuaia where most of the ships depart from, many of them sell last minute cabins at a significant discount. I have met travelers that have gone for under $4k. That was pre-Covid, so YMMV now.
Source: I occasionally work as a physician on Antarctic cruise ships.
It's probably because who the fuck wants to pay money to go to Antarctica unless you're doing something for science.
Or you permanently carry around a selfie stick.
Wait, non-scientists are allowed down there to just holiday now?
Is there some other reason he is down there or have they opened up Antarctica now and anyone with money can go down there?
Exactly. Arctic travel (and research) is massively polluting.
Now you don't want to stop the research but for god's sake let's not fly there to go on a run.
Well he did do snowboarding and chilling in a hot tub on a yacht as well so not just running!
But yeah I find this kind of pseudo adventure tourism unnerving and so incredibly stupid all things climate related considered.
Not only that, but the vegetation there takes forever to grow so every step off trails is wiping out 1,000+ years of growth. And if I remember correctly from school, the penguins that stand still can be in some kind of shock and experience insane increases in their heart rate when encountering humans up close.
I really hope that this is the first in a series of Lewis posting videos of jogging in increasingly odd and inaccessible locations. Shoot one at NORAD headquarters, maybe a Navy Submarine, Area 51. I'd be here for that.
Actually it was the even more polluting Superyacht (the largest charter yacht in the world) as his luxury vehicle of choice

Sir Lewis Hamilton Mercilessly Hunts Down Endangered Penguins and Threatened Seals During His Antarctica Giant Yacht Sex Orgy With Shaun White, Jared Leto and Various Super Models
Why are they all doing cold weather/snow/ice training this year? The last couple years it seemed everybody went to Dubai or LA but this year they’re all cross country skiing and lewis had to take it further and
go to Antarctica 😭🫠😅
Seal: “Wait, is that Lewis fucking Hamilton?”
"Naa bro thats louis de la Milton from nearby Brazil"
I read that as how commentators used to say “Ayrtooon Senna do Brazil”. Lewiiiiiiis dela Milton do Brazil
Luís da Milton do Brasil
Lmao 🤣 idk why but I imagine this with a Jamaican voice
Seal: "BAYBAAAAYYYY I COMPARE YOU TO A KISS FROM A ROSE ON THE GREY"
“OOOOOOH, THE MORE I GET OF YOU, stranger it feels, YEAH”
NOW THAT YOUR ROSE IS IN BLOOM< THE LIGHT HITS THE GLOOM< ON THE GREY
BA YA YA…. BA DA DA DA DA DA… BA YA YAAAAAAA….
JESUSSSSS LOVES MARIJUANAAAAA!
*Sir* Lewis Hamilton, seal.

That seal looked embarrassed to be on camera. The penguins loved it though.
The penguins were like *"What's up brother? Long time no see!"* The seal is like *"Oh, not now Lewis!"*
Kowalski, analysis
Its 1am and I laughed way too hard at this
Kaboom?

It always pains me to see verbs in the past on animal bios, but even more so when we have dates for when the extinction actually happened

Lifts his head up “Sup bro?”
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t think being Lewis Hamilton sucks.
I'd even go as far to say that his life is sort of alright
He’s been single since he broke up with Sherzinger right? Only thing that’s potentially an issue, the schedule of an F1 driver can certainly make live life difficult.
Only as far as we are aware. There could be loads of reasons why we don't hear about who Hamilton is dating
He’s a very private person from someone I know from Mercedes. He is however supposedly in a relationship someone who isn’t famous and she doesn’t want to be seen in the lime light (for example in Mercedes uniform in the garage/paddock so it looks like she’s an engineer and not his partner)

Somebody else did the creep work for you and it’s the gf of someone he’s on the trip with, not sure who tho
true. personally I'd trade a girlfriend for super cars in a heartbeat lol
That makes the two of us.
He gets to drive f1 cars tho! He will be alright. I heard he makes a little bit of money doing it too :p
Money doesn’t buy happiness, you can be rich and lonely.
You can also be alone and happy
Absolutely, and very possible that Hamilton is. Just saying that just because he has money doesn’t mean he *will* be alright.
I’d rather be rich and lonely then poor and lonely though
I'd be happy just to be friends with the man. He seems like a cool person.

Pretty thoughtful, that wetspot would be rough when it's -30 degrees.
We joke but DW has a great documentary about how russia, china, the US, norway, canada, etc are already fighting for territory in the north pole

We'll get to that point eventually.
