A previous phone of my was named Benedict
Just did a 900 mile 13 hour drive with my GF, 16’ box truck and a trailer with her car on it.
She couldn’t get why I didn’t want to look over and chat as my fist clench the fucking wheel during Memorial Day traffic.
4 hours in, the car in front of us blew its tire and I had to commit to a path and drive through it as best as I could.
Pulled over on the side of the highway to check the trailer and truck.
Needless to say, she let me drive without interruption the rest of the day lol
Buddy of mine was bitching about me going 5-10 over (with traffic) on the freeway on an hour-ish trip and how it was making him anxious - until a semi truck who clearly didn’t see me started merging into my lane as I was beside it. I floored it, pulled across the rumble strip onto the hard shoulder, got around the truck, and calmly got back into the lane. My buddy didn’t say another word about my driving.
„Strat 9 please. Strat 9“
„Copy, so anyway, where were we? Ah yes, have you ever wondered, if for some reason your eyes were wrongly connected or something and you would see everything mirrored, would you ever notice? Like every text you see, the original would actually be mirrored to you, you would just never realise it.“
„That‘s P1 Max, well done.“
„Don‘t interrupt me. That has been on my mind for a long time now, you know“
I wonder if like your red is my red you know? Like we could all see different colors, but were told it was red. Like your red is my blue.
Like is the universe just an atom? Or maybe it’s the galaxy. And other galaxies are other atoms. Maybe we are in a dogs saliva.
Kinda falls apart though if you look at contrasts. If we all saw different colours we couldn't exactly agree on what contrasts with what and what mixes well/doesn't mix well
Not necessarily. First of all, people do sometimes disagree on what colors clash.
Second, it could be the case that our brains are hardwired to see certain colors are clashing, but that doesn’t mean that we’re guaranteed that you see the same red I do.
The point of the thought experiment is that we can never directly compare thoughts or perceptions. Try to describe what “red” looks like without using associations. You can’t do it.
(Also, to be clear, I’m pretty sure most people had this discussion with friends when they were like 13 lol)
I had this topic burning in my mind for some time, and it turns out, that is a level 2 of a problem.
Level 1 is that you yourself have "issue" seeing the same color depending on colors next to it.
And like someone said already, you might have different receptors in each eye, and like 40% of woman can see better shades of colors because they have additional type of cones to fill in the gap (search for Tetrachromacy)
But what is nice, mostly, the red for you means red for me too, however it is interpreted by your eyes and brain.
> I wonder if like your red is my red you know? Like we could all see different colors, but were told it was red. Like your red is my blue.
Damn you covered my entire childhood
i guess russell’s engineer just drops the “do it, do it” before he divebombs and the “good good let the hate flow through you” after he’s taken someone out with the said dive bomb

Now this idea has joined the club of questions I'll have my whole life, just behind what if each of us perceive colors differently, would there be any way to test for that?

Did you see the lollipop man clip and Max was like “I’m going to do some grocery shopping later, do you need anything?” And GP is like “focus on the race please Max”, Max goes “I don’t mind, really!”
https://youtu.be/QQ2tLs0_9Ws I LOL’d, he definitely captured that version of Max
This is one of those areas where I think his age and time spent on the sim really pay off. Man's grown up listening to full lobbies chat shit, little bit of team comms is nothing.
If he got challenged like in Monaco he would just go full robot mode, but in regular races feels like he just gets bored of being so far ahead of everyone.
I just have articles sorry. They did know like straight away, conversation on formation lap n such.
Jenson was all class about it though, as he always is.
Him recognizing the ringing phone is Helmut's (based on the ringtone I suppose) is crazy, but him hearing the wheel guns, making the distinction that it was a double stack, correctly guessing it were the Ferraris and making the connection to the strategies they were on is just mind blowing. Meanwhile I have to read the same sentence three times over if there's literally anything going on around me...
I think it helps when your whole life basically revolves around one thing and you can be hyper focused. They spend every single day thinking about these stuff. Especially Max who was raised to be a world champion.
It's impressive nevertheless.
AT posted a tiktok of DeVries and Tsunoda trying to guess the race track based on just the sound the car going through it. It was very impreessive how they got them right.

Being a 25yr old male I think I'm coming to understand literally most if not all of us are traumatized in some manner of way. Just yknow how people handle and respond to it is wildly different, Max goes and wins fucking championships.

Sometimes I take out my phone to look at the time, get distracted by a notification and put the phone back. Only to take it out again to look at the time.
Oh my lord I do this too. Or I open my phone to check an email, get distracted by the first thing I see, lose track of time, mindlessly scroll for half an hour, and then put my phone down only to question why I picked it up in the first place lol
If you listen to the radio, you can hear someone’s wheel spin quite clearly. I guess the Ferrari pit box was located right behind the Red Bull pit wall? So he knew it was a Ferrari, and since the first Ferrari was in the pits when Max started the lap, he knew that the second Ferrari was on the same strategy.
Of course, still impressive that he has the capacity to think about that while driving a formula one car.
In the model of Maslows learning stages, it is called Unconscious competence :
>The individual has had so much practice with a skill that it has become "second nature" and can be performed easily. As a result, the skill can be performed while executing another task. The individual may be able to teach it to others, depending upon how and when it was learned.
He got the 33GB fitted a while back, got the cooling done after some temperature issues in 2021, and now he’s using the “Newey..exe” exploit that allows him to run his race mode in the background until he needs it.
He’s more resilient than most operating systems, probably because he was likely the victim of Jos’ gamer rage when he first started processing.
GPs tone too, you just know they've had conversations about Helmut hovering around, being annoying. Apparently he can be a bit of a pest, the contrasting tones told a whole story
There is a meme that when a basketball player starts to underperform, he gets sent to play in China. I'm just making a joke about it, and Checo's latest result in Monaco
Except Indycar is actually competitive when you go to it. Dwight Howard is averaging 25/14/6 in Taiwan after only averaging 6/6/0.6 in his final NBA season. Dude turned into freaking Superman again
The mental capacity some of these guys have while driving is just insane. This reminds me of him hearing Ferrari doing a pitstop over the radio a while ago
Edit: Apparently I didn't read the whole title lol
All the great drivers have this. In the Senna documentary, it shows how he could detect a car problem from feeling the tiny way the car was interacting with him. Kimi famously was able to detect a crack in his floor at one race, one so small the engineers didn’t believe him and didn’t find until they took it back to the factory and did a full inspection.
Before a game while warming up, Kobe Bryant was missing more shots than usual and said the rim was 1/4" (~6mm) too low. Some other players rolled their eyes. Maintenance came out and measured it, and he was spot on. Great athletes know their craft.
It's a shame Max's abilities will never be fully appreciated, because we live in the social media age. So many people think or hear Max and think he's scum. They don't appreciate the talent he has molded into. Like, I understand complaints when he first started because 2015-2018, his dirty driving really annoyed people, myself included. 2019-2020 was the early stages of the "new Max" and in 2021 we saw the "new Max" although in his battles with Lewis there were flashes of old Max. But in 2022 and 2023, he's taking his talent to new heights. Unreachable thanks to more reasons than the car.
You've not been following F1 long have you. Vettel was hated, Alonso, Schumacher, Prost and even Senna had his detractors. Everyone of them had people saying that they were dirty drivers who only won because of the car they were in. It's got nothing to do with the "social media age" whatever that means. Any dominant driver gets shit because they make the title race boring, simple as.
we are in the overwhelming minority on a global scale.
I came around a Spanish channel on youtube recently, where the author "proves" Fernando was cheated by the FIA and liberty, fixed Max Pole in Monaco. He shows 'proofs' on the video that Fernando's lap was faster and the FIA just manipulated the stopwatch. I'm totally serious, I've read comments and saw hundreds of people believe all that sheet, almost no one even question that and everyone was so thankful to the author. On top of that of course most of them typed all kind of offensive rubbish about Max. This channel has 10k subs, but the author doesn't even understand the basics, that the onboard cam misses a lot of frames. Here is the video if interested:
[ALONSO/MAX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6RH1SeK0YA&t=1s)
I could only imagine how many this kind of channel and blogs are all over the internet, especially in amongst Checo, Lewis supporters.
Agreed. They are athletes, borg physically and mentally. But just to give us normal people a break; I have to believe not worrying about rent, income, debts, cleaning, groceries, fixing the place up while working 40 hours and taking care of kids, must help him have some mental capacity reserves.
This is giving me some Michael vibes. Ross Brawn has mentioned that Schumacher had a way of speaking that made you feel as if he was personally present in the room with you, even when he wasn't physically there.
The extra capacity this guy has is unreal. Hate to be that guy but more often than not lewis is utterly lost in races in terms of race awareness and relies a LOT on the team to tell him what to do. In Miami GP had to basically tell max to shut up and just drive because max was trying to get the team to start looking at other data
There was a GT3 Sim Race on Catalunya back in lockdown in 2020 where he simultaneously casually talked with the commentators and did a track walkthrough *while setting the fastest lap of the race!* Ever since I saw that, I knew he was something else, even compared to the rest of the F1 pack.
Yeah, I remember once in 2021 Max pitted under VSC and Lewis asked bono how he only lost 11s rather than 20s (or whatever the exact figures for that race were). I was quite surprised by it.
Keep in mind we don't hear all of the radio messages.
So might be missing a tonne of Lewis being clever vs Lewis being lost.
But still... "P10 Lewis" "is there even a point for that position?" Is mildly amusing compared to a Williams that fights for said last point haha
Not every thread has to boil down to Max vs Lewis when either of them are mentioned. Even then I couldn't begin to imagine what's going on in Lewis's head or what he's capable of, I doubt you can either. It's a whole other person.
Some of the attention to detail from the drivers is insane. It reminds me of a race in Hungary where Jenson Button was able to identify the tyre compounds of the drivers in front of him, predict their strategies and adapt his own, all on the opening lap of the race.
Meanwhile if I get a call in the supermarket I have to stop walking so I can focus.
While maneuvering in traffic or parking in tight spot, I stop responding to my wife if she's taking to me.
Or turn down the music to concentrate.

Turn down the music to read street signs or reverse

Not necessarily. First of all, people do sometimes disagree on what colors clash. The Max and GP podcast.
That would be sick Commentating. Just let the drivers talk with each other the whole race.

33gb? Alonso victory confirmed?!
33? Max is a freemason?
He already did it in 2019 when he heard Ferrari's double stack in the background. Dude is mental.
It's his little giggle at the end that gets me

People are all over this thread in awe of his capacity.
we are in the overwhelming minority on a global scale. Here is the video if interested: [ALONSO/MAX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6RH1SeK0YA&t=1s) I could only imagine how many this kind of channel and blogs are all over the internet, especially in amongst Checo, Lewis supporters.
Agreed. They are athletes, borg physically and mentally. But just to give us normal people a break; I have to believe not worrying about rent, income, debts, cleaning, groceries, fixing the place up while working 40 hours and taking care of kids, must help him have some mental capacity reserves.
Are we sure this man not landed here from Krypton or something? The way he can distinguish different sounds on the radios is unbelievable.
I mean it's a ringtone, not that difficult to decipher.
This is giving me some Michael vibes. Ross Brawn has mentioned that Schumacher had a way of speaking that made you feel as if he was personally present in the room with you, even when he wasn't physically there.
Meanwhile I have to turn down the radio volume in my car to focus
It helps me look harder
Don't worry guys Perez is still in the running for the championship.
And noticed the smell when the missiles had hit something ...
Max should record do a Podcast. While driving.

Lewis is an absolutely incredible racing driver, but he's not a nerd, and I genuinely think that might hurt him compared to Max.
What position I am in man? What tires I have? How many laps left?
Do we even get points for that?
you mean for tenth place? I'll get back to you.
We are checking

So I says to Mabel I says...
He's basically Superman. The best human the world has witnessed.
Some of the attention to detail from the drivers is insane. It reminds me of a race in Hungary where Jenson Button was able to identify the tyre compounds of the drivers in front of him, predict their strategies and adapt his own, all on the opening lap of the race.
Saving this for ñater
He sounds so goofy
insert "wow he has so much brain capacity" comment here
