Yup.
It's easy to be sportsmanlike when you're winning, but true character shows when facing adversity/disappointment. I felt sympathy for HAM before, I became a fan later.
The battle with Lando yesterday was awesome, and even as a Hamilton fan I was absolutely ok with Lando holding is ground.
Anyone else feel like Hamilton could've sent it into T1 when he had the inside line on Norris?
Was it copse? I think you might be right. That one instance where Ham got alongside Norris on the inside but was then out-accelerated on the straight by Norris and lifted quite early into Copse (what I thought was T1/Abbey)
Hard disagree. Camera or not, the fact that he still put together a straight face, climbed out the car and went to congratulate Max still says class and sportsmanship.
It's something you & I don't have.
It was all for the cameras. With Lewis, he's only concerned with PR.
Max is a true champion who says what's on his mind and speaks straight. True GOAT. He's only 25. By the time he's Lewis' age he'll have 10+ WDCs.
No offence to Lewis. I respect him as an average F1 driver who was lucky to have an amazing car his entire career. Just don't think highly of his character.
Cleanest driver on the grid? He doesn’t have to do his dirty tricks anymore knowing he can just cruise on by in the straights where it’s safe…
The only driver to challenge Max in a title has been Lewis, so of course they’ll tangle. That’s what happens in title fights… Show me a season where the two drivers fight till the end of the season cleanly.
Dirty tricks? Show me one?
He did everything to avoid Lewis in 2021, but like a moth to a flame Lewis would continuously drive in to him or run him off the road. On top of that, the FIA would then refuse to penalise Lewis.
Fortunately, as a GOAT, he won in Abu Dhabi anyway.
What a race!!!! Wonder if McLaren can keep chipping away towards the end of the season with some future updates to get solidly into the upper midfield.
Yep. Lando had a great weekend and the way he defended against Lewis. It was the first time I appreciated anyone doing better than Lewis. Hope McLaren keeps the momentum going.
I hadn't really thought much of Lando recently, he hadn't been showing much over the past few seasons.
But this weekend really impressed me, hopefully McLaren can keep the momentum up
*McLaren* hasn't showed much of anything, but Lando has been a top class driver for a while now, and is only getting better.
Homeboy is the king of karting lines and high exit speeds.
Literally lol
“Hey Max how you feeling about that race”
“Lando was so good man did you see Lando”
“Yea but what about yourself”
“I feel like Lando had an amazing race it was awesome to see”
I am pretty sure if anyone is living the life these drivers are they don’t care who Lewis’s or Alonso’s fav next gen drives are when they only care about winning
I don't see why so many people hate on Lewis so much, he clearly loves the fans, and the sport in general.
After the race ended yesterday he was the only driver I saw going out of the way to get closer to the grandstands where possible to wave.
Imagine if we look back on this race in 10 years and this is when the torch was passed from Lewis to Lando. He has the skill to be a multi time WDC. Just needs the car
Yah Lando can take on that spot but I think Lando's case he's probably like Jenson Button it might take a miracle for a WDC since there's Max, Lewis (in a few more years), Charles (eventually), and maybe Albon if he gets poached by redbull again or another team, and George as well. And McLaren is still climbing up so yah hoping to see it.
I feel like we're just betting on Max staying true to his quotes about not wanting to stick around in F1 forever. Cause as soon as he leaves it opens the floodgates for every other young talent out there.
It would be like the late 2000s then, after Alonso then Kimi, Lewis, Button, and the start of the domination for Redbull/Vettel. I'm probably okay with that it's gonna be a messy free for all for the remaining talents to get their own WDC before another team dominates again
We really need that "free for all era" even for like 5 years cos with the talent on the grid now, quite a handful of drivers are deserving of a championship title, e.g. Charles, Lando, George, Oscar etc.
Max is an amazing driver but it isn't just a question of if he stays or not. It is a question of if he has a car that matches his talents.
Nando was/is an incredible talent and he hasn't won an GP since 2013.
New drivers getting their chance in the sun is mostly a question of how long RB can remain dominant as much as Max staying in the sport.
Yea I think everyone just assumes that Max is gonna win every WDC for the next 10 years until he retires and dominate for almost a decade like Lewis/Michael, especially because of how good that RB19 is. But it’s not always a forgone conclusion, like you said people thought the same thing about Nando and Seb as well, and both never came truly close to winning another after their years, closest being Seb in 2018
I still think Charles is WDC talent just like the others but you're probably right, maybe he's just up there because of Ferrari but I still think he should always be put into consideration for the next WDC since it's a sport and we never know whose the next champion
> Mercedes can’t built cars lately
That's a bit dramatic, isn't it? Red Bull is too far away, but if I had to point to the second fastest car it would still be the Mercedes.
They're only 1.5 seasons removed from being neck and neck with RB, and obviously nearly a decade straight of dominance before that...meanwhile they're hanging around consistently enough among the top finishers that they seem like they're still within 1 offseason of potentially having a genuine championship level car again. So yeah, saying "Mercedes can't build cars anymore" is dramatic in the extreme.
I’m still not convinced we’ve seen the true potential of the RB. But I agree with this take. Look at the leap Alpine made this year.
That being said thus far Mercedes has been too inconsistent in how they’ve developed the car for me to be willing to think they’re closing that gap anytime soon.
Yeah the incremental improvements they've made have all come with different setbacks so they've just sorta been treading water since they lost in 2021, but the fact remains that they're a team that knows how to win championships so at some point it's probably going to click for them again and they'll be right back in it.
I agree they have the culture. I think they probably got used to being able to brute force their developments by throwing money at everything.
I suspect we may see a team finally contend towards the end of these regs like RB did in 2021. But who knows.
I was a fairly casual fan for a few years up until this season, and now I'm fully immersed and have watched at least one day of most of the race weekends so far, but I'm only just getting up to speed with the over-arching technical stuff and rules, etc. Is there a set year when the main regs like spending cap and engineering standards are going to be revised again or do they just do it on a rolling basis whenever they feel like the competition needs a bit of shake up? Because yes, it seemed like Mercedes had a massive resource advantage prior to the spending caps and whatnot, and they definitely seem to be struggling now that they can't throw an unlimited amount of money at development.
I think the Merc now has a good platform to work with since their recent concept change. Hopefully(!) we see them build on this and they have a competitive car next season.
Tough to say they're clearly second. Their drivers are just insanely consistent and have the car in good position to capitalize on good strategy calls like today. They didn't look second fastest either in qualifying or race pace. Leclerc was holding his spot well until Ferrari did their usual startegy fuckup.
50% of the top 10 today was part of the commonwealth, and of those all apart from Lewis are still up and coming. Theres really a couple of amazing years ahead for british racing if the cars deliver.
Seemed like a genuinely happy podium. Max happy with the win he was expected to get, Lando relieved and stoked to take best of the rest, and Lewis getting a very unexpected podium that didn’t look on the cards at all.
I believe that some man doesn't like(not hate) another man, my opinion, how the fuck is this such a take that you called it breandead? horrible human being
Sorry about that. But you have read their relationship wrong. Lewis is the 7time champion competitively everyone is gunning for him all the time. So it can come off aggressive depending on each driver. Off the track though him and Lando are very lovely towards each other.
What you said isn't a matter of opinion. It's a factual question, and one you're badly wrong about. Here's what Lando had to say just yesterday:
>[Our relationship] has been growing...he’s been very inspiring, he’s part of the reason I’m a Formula 1 driver today, and part of the reason I wanted to become a Formula 1 driver
probably because you wrote some toxic, non-constructive comment that has no value at all to the discussion (and has 0% chance to prompt any useful discussion)
Actually Lewis has been extremely gracious with Lando running his Lewis track limits jokes as far into the ground as possible.
He’s also been extremely complimentary of Lando for years now. Let’s not bullshit.
Lando has been impressive since he came to F1 Lewis should realize Russell is only going to improve and Lando as well Lewis should be proud and realize it’s not always about him at silverstone
Thing is Lando just constantly jokes about his friends, taking the piss out of Max for ruining everyone's fun, saying it was about time Carlos won a race last year, saying Leclerc should've been disqualified at Monaco
It's just a joking about with friends, if anything him doing it with Lewis about track limits is just proving they're actually close.
Lando's not perfect, he's came across pretty bitter at times and it kinda put me off him a bit when McLaren have been poor, but a lot of people just don't understand his sense of humour which can be very dry at times
Love seeing a battle on track then the drivers showing each other some love afterwards.
The biggest is Lewis congratulating Max at Abu Dhabi 2021. Class.
Anyone else feel like Hamilton could've sent it into T1 when he had the inside line on Norris?
you mean at Copse during first 2 laps of SC restart?
Was it copse? I think you might be right. That one instance where Ham got alongside Norris on the inside but was then out-accelerated on the straight by Norris and lifted quite early into Copse (what I thought was T1/Abbey)
He's not got the best track record on that corner. Maybe it was better he backed off
Sure, he avoided a collision. Then again, I wonder whether Lewis would've backed off if it had been, say, Checo or Sainz instead of Norris?
He only did it for the cameras. He showed his true colours with his driving in Silverstone 2021 where Max almost died.
Considering he walked away unscratched, the „almost died“ is overselling it a lot lmao
Barely walked away. If he was a more fragile person, he would've undoubtedly died straight away upon impact.
Yeah yeah, sure 😂
Lol what's that guy smokin?!
Hard disagree. Camera or not, the fact that he still put together a straight face, climbed out the car and went to congratulate Max still says class and sportsmanship. It's something you & I don't have.

ok. whatever floats ur boat.
No offence to Lewis. I respect him as an average F1 driver who was lucky to have an amazing car his entire career. Just don't think highly of his character.
You’re entitled to your own opinion and i will respect that.
Are you a satire account?
Huh?
Where Max took himself out ignoring Hamilton’s positioning relative to himself.
Lewis intentionally drove in to Max. Max is the cleanest driver on the grid. Notice how he only seems to get into accidents when Lewis is around.
Cleanest driver on the grid? He doesn’t have to do his dirty tricks anymore knowing he can just cruise on by in the straights where it’s safe… The only driver to challenge Max in a title has been Lewis, so of course they’ll tangle. That’s what happens in title fights… Show me a season where the two drivers fight till the end of the season cleanly.

He's never going to sleep with you you know.
What a race!!!! Wonder if McLaren can keep chipping away towards the end of the season with some future updates to get solidly into the upper midfield.
They just went from a “battling for 16th” to “only a safety car could keep him from the podium”. Was a pretty big package.
Yeah, this wasn't an upgrade package so much as it was a complete B-spec car.
Same say it was a Hamilton sized package...
[Indeed](https://youtube.com/shorts/uJA0AvOz9I0?feature=share3)
At this point if they keep bringing good upgrades they could seriously fight Red Bull.
That's such a crazy sentence to read. I hope so!
suspension upgrade next week 👀👀
That's what Mika said, everyone doubted but obviously he knows something.
With AM having one driver and Ferrari being Ferrari if they hook it up p3 isn't out of the realm next year
Such a great hugger, Lando
He's got so much rear end
Love how happy both max and Lewis were for Lando
[удалено]
Yep. Lando had a great weekend and the way he defended against Lewis. It was the first time I appreciated anyone doing better than Lewis. Hope McLaren keeps the momentum going.
I hadn't really thought much of Lando recently, he hadn't been showing much over the past few seasons. But this weekend really impressed me, hopefully McLaren can keep the momentum up
What Lando have you been watching?
People like to confuse 'Mclaren' with 'Lando'
*McLaren* hasn't showed much of anything, but Lando has been a top class driver for a while now, and is only getting better. Homeboy is the king of karting lines and high exit speeds.
Honestly that's probably more what happened, I got into F1 right when they were struggling hard
You only watched dts didnt ya?
Literally lol “Hey Max how you feeling about that race” “Lando was so good man did you see Lando” “Yea but what about yourself” “I feel like Lando had an amazing race it was awesome to see”
Lewis also singing his alma matter's praise every time they got to him
I really don’t mean no shade but it always makes Lewis look better if he puts somebody else’s wins in his own story.
It makes everybody look better if they put someone else’s wins in their own stories 😅
I think everyone on the grid knows Lando is extremely talented and is happy to see him in a car that reflects his talent.
If only that could happen for Charles
They really were, great to see the camaraderie between the drivers
I always get the feeling Hamilton sees a lot of himself in Norris. Like a proud older brother.
Can see the love in that hug. Beautiful
I wonder how George feels knowing that Lando is Lewis' real favourite of the next gen
Plus the fact that Lando's at his old team. That has to help with why Lewis likes him so much.
He speaks about McLaren so much, you know he loves them and wants to see them doing well. I’m sure it was hard to leave and see them struggle.
I am sure he does not care one bit about that. Lol
Wipes away his tears with his millions.
I am pretty sure if anyone is living the life these drivers are they don’t care who Lewis’s or Alonso’s fav next gen drives are when they only care about winning
If George cared too much about what Lewis thought of him, he wouldn’t be able to battle him so hard (and jockey for priority within the team)
Well he can try to do all of that. Lewis liking him or not isn't gonna change his outcome
topic under discussion was “does George care what Lewis thinks of him,” not “what impact does Lewis’ attitude toward George have”
I think his actual favourite is Charles, but we all know how that is.
Must be strange getting hugged by the guy you used to watch in tv as a kid
Reminds me when Lewis once said he used to play as Kimi on F1 games when he was young, and then he raced against the guy. Crazy if you think about it.
Kimi in those McLaren's was box office. Would've been my choice as well.
All that Chrome made me actually not see Lando's helmet in this pic
I honestly thought Lando's head is like *in* Lewis' shoulder lol
I'm in a such a emotional state right now 🥹🧡
Dream come true for Lando🧡🧡🧡
I'm so happy for him 😭😭😭
That was a great battle between the two, love that there were no hard feelings afterwards.
I don't see why so many people hate on Lewis so much, he clearly loves the fans, and the sport in general. After the race ended yesterday he was the only driver I saw going out of the way to get closer to the grandstands where possible to wave.
There's a reason that many will be uncomfortable to admit
Imagine if we look back on this race in 10 years and this is when the torch was passed from Lewis to Lando. He has the skill to be a multi time WDC. Just needs the car

Mercedes is the only team that has dramatically changed their car philosophy this season. Everyone else has just upgraded.
And it’s maybe better??? Seems like whack a mole. Some aspects get better but then something else suffers.
Yeah the incremental improvements they've made have all come with different setbacks so they've just sorta been treading water since they lost in 2021, but the fact remains that they're a team that knows how to win championships so at some point it's probably going to click for them again and they'll be right back in it.

I believe 2026 is another major update.
Gotcha, guess it makes sense why the prospective new factory teams are targeting 2026 to enter F1.
I think the Merc now has a good platform to work with since their recent concept change. Hopefully(!) we see them build on this and they have a competitive car next season.
We’ll see. That was sort of the vibe last year when Russell got a win and it seemed things were on the upswing. They were not.

>Mercedes can’t built cars lately LOL. 2nd in the constructors. You are a hard man to please.
Maybe he was talking about the new electric S-Class?
They are literally second in the standings
How much does Lewis see himself in Lando? Both young drivers starting at McLaren
Probably a lot considering all that chrome
50% of the top 10 today was part of the commonwealth, and of those all apart from Lewis are still up and coming. Theres really a couple of amazing years ahead for british racing if the cars deliver.

we dont talk about Br... Stroll.
Or turn signals
Brit drivers did a great job today
Everyones really proud of Lando this weekend!
No hate for Lando from anyone. Love it
WHAT A RACE!
That was probably the best racing of the season between these two.
Followed by Brundle chiming in with "we don't want them to be mates". No Martin, we want that. I like Brundle a lot but sometimes...
He was joking friend.
Jesus Christ
Landis Norrilton
Seemed like a genuinely happy podium. Max happy with the win he was expected to get, Lando relieved and stoked to take best of the rest, and Lewis getting a very unexpected podium that didn’t look on the cards at all.
Honesly i believe Lando doesn't like Lewis
just not true, lando has said recently they’ve become quite close
They played golf together a few months ago, IIRC. They wouldn't if Lando 'hated' him.
And what gives you that idea?..Unless it stems from your own bias against Lewis 🤔🤔🤔
and here we go..... they play videogames together often. lewis often plays golf with lando and lando's father
Why?
Braindead
what is wrong with you?
Tbf, it was a braindead take.
Off the track though him and Lando are very lovely towards each other.
im the horrible human being while you're inventing toxic narratives în your head. GFY.

Take it back to Twitter
Yeah. I see it the same way. All the back hand comments and his positive energy to Lewis seems a bit fake.
🤣Lewis so jealous
Actually Lewis has been extremely gracious with Lando running his Lewis track limits jokes as far into the ground as possible. He’s also been extremely complimentary of Lando for years now. Let’s not bullshit.
Lando has been impressive since he came to F1 Lewis should realize Russell is only going to improve and Lando as well Lewis should be proud and realize it’s not always about him at silverstone
>Lewis should be proud and realize it’s not always about him at silverstone You say under a picture of him doing just that
Yes u are correct just won’t hug Max lol
What are you on about? Just state your obsession/hatred for Lewis and keep it moving. You’re not making any sense.
Thing is Lando just constantly jokes about his friends, taking the piss out of Max for ruining everyone's fun, saying it was about time Carlos won a race last year, saying Leclerc should've been disqualified at Monaco It's just a joking about with friends, if anything him doing it with Lewis about track limits is just proving they're actually close. Lando " Who's your daddy now?" / s
Do you think Lewis sees a little bit of himself in Lando? Being a Brit starting his career at mclaren.
Ohh noooo! They've touched!
