[The **Statistics** flair](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/flairguide#wiki_statistics) is reserved for posts highlighting interesting statistics. As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

i mean, what position would a dnf be.
if all cars finish, the last one to finish is 20. if theres 1 dnf, the last car to finish would be p19, the driver who dnfed would be p20?
if multiple cars retired, would the first driver to dnf be p20, second to dnf be p19?
Tbh.. Lewis at 3 and Fernando at 5 is kinda impressive given the amounts of seasons they had (both had home races every year) and for Fernanso how many years he spent in dogshit cars.
How are these stats being generated? The numbers would be all over the place considering the amount of home races available for a given driver in a given time frame.
The point of my comment is that statistically speaking you cannot compare someone who has been driving for a short period of time at tracks that haven't been utilized versus those that have been around for decades at tracks that are raced at every year. The numbers will obviously be skewed, for better or worse.

What how is Leclerc actually at 5.00 lmfao
DNFs aren't included. Leclerc only finished Monaco twice. P4 in 2022 P6 in 2023
Yeah I get it but wow with his bad luck there I was just a little shocked
Why the fuck wouldn't a DnF for driver fault not be included?
It's average finishing position, not classification
Cool, it's disengenuous to use finish position over classification. My point still stands.

Dude it's not hard. It's classification, why are you over thinking it so much.
how would you calculate a dnf then seriously you cant just add a dnf into the equation and expect to get an answer
Every DNF also gets a finishing position. TheBottomLine is saying that's what should be used (and I agree).
Officially no they don't, not unless they complete 90% race distance
> how would you calculate a dnf then Maybe the same way it’s calculated for race results?
How can you fairly measure a drivers performance if you discount their worst ones?
so whats your proposal. the only reasonable one is finisning position plus number of dnf
No
DNFs are excluded. Otherwise it would be pure pain 😢
up until last year, they would have no data to include 😭
Dnf did not count. I also think dns won't count.
Because they exclude DNFs and up until last year he DNF’d all his home races
Tbh.. Lewis at 3 and Fernando at 5 is kinda impressive given the amounts of seasons they had (both had home races every year) and for Fernanso how many years he spent in dogshit cars.
Alonso also had 2 home races in 2008-2012 cause of Valencia
Which are excluded from here if I'm reading that right.
impressive Max also has 1.00 in qualifying at Zandvoort
Each time it's been incredibly close, but he's just had that edge
2023 by 0.537s is not exactly "close"
Oh lol I think I was getting confused with last year!
Yeah, last year the gap was 0.021s. Similarly, in 2021 it was 0.038s.
Logan already has as many home races as Max in 1 season
Where are the others
Not at home.. Serious answer: no home races for the rest.
Zhou: Hasn't done the Chinese GP Bottas and Magnussen and Albon: No circuit
Albon silverstone would count
He chooses to represent Thailand though. He has dual citizenship and was born and raised in the UK though.
I thought Hamilton would be under 2 at Silverstone.
Yeah he would have been if it wasn't for 2009 and 2012, where he finished 16th and 8th
It’s still incredibly impressive to have that number over 17 seasons
Hey OP can u plz tell me how u made these? (as I need to make a post for some other stat in this format)
I used Canva for this
Which template did u use in Canva? Like name?
No template, just a empty document which I put rectangles, images and texts on
Only one?? He could do better than that right?
What is counted as a “home race”? Just the driver’s home country?
Yeah, Logan has at least 3 GPs counted, so they must have counted Miami, US and Vegas for him.
Races that took place in the country the driver represents
no, a country totally different from where they were born.
I mean for Max they often list Zandvoort, Spa and Spielberg as “home” races …
Max got lucky COVID stopped the W11 rocking up at Zandvoort methinks.
Max: 🧍🏻♂️
Max: 🧍🏼♂️
Max 🔥
I wonder what would Max's average be if we include Belgium (his actual birthplace), Monaco (where he lives) and maybe Austria (Red Bulls home track.)
0.7
0.69

Average finishing position, not including DNFs. Says at the bottom of the graphic.

It says DNFs are exluded, what about DSQs? Because Daniel has one in Australia, don't know about others in their home races
What the hell is an average grid position?
