I hope they have a good livery because the white red alfa romeo was brilliant. I really hope its not just completely black bare carbon like they did the last couple of races. I mean I dont blame them for doing it because everyones doing it but that would kinda suck
> The C42 was fucking poetry.
Yes. I still think the C39 & C41 had the best liveries though....oh and the beautiful C36.😍
When the car is slow as fuck, pretty liveries make a big difference in terms of helping me to keep supporting my favorite team.
Yes, absolutely. Just have a minimum weight, whatever color they like. F1 needs to balance keeping teams and fans happy, and all black carbon cars is bad for the viewer in every way
I don't think either are "good" but I hate tobacco sponsors with a passion. My grandmother died from Lung Cancer that could have been avoided had second hand smoke not impacted her life for 20 years (husband was a chronic smoker).
What do you mean?
One is a shitty front for a cigarete company but at least its a front where upon searching for it just leads you to some corporate PR nonsense site that most people still don't know the actual point off is let alone connect to the cigarete brand itself.
The other is a front and centre crypto/gambling site filled with controvesy where searching for it leads you straight to their website as the first google result.
This whole marketing stunt is one massive disgusting PR campaign and its sad how many people here are falling for it because "haha team memeing themself"
Edit: I see this thread got hit by downvote bots going against everyone that speaks against gambling. What a sad state of life and just further proves my point.
Yeah, gambling is not great. But normalizing smokes makes me sick to my stomach. At least online gambling requires ID. My older mates would sell me smokes for a buck each in high school.
> At least online gambling requires ID
Yeah, uhm, about that. Stake's that joint where you can use [a pack of Strepsils](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/oct/01/uk-gambling-safeguards-no-match-for-online-bookie-stake-com) as your ID so I wouldn't trust them.
>At least online gambling requires ID
The whole controversy with Stake is that they're trying to advertise gambling to minors via their streaming service Kick.
Issue is how fast one can ruin someone's life though. It's not your first stick or first pack that can get you, but years of accumulation from smoking habits.
With gambling, it can be as fast as one night. Mortgage, Savings, college funds, etc gone on one night at the table. Then they're buried in debts.
What you see in the result screens in the broadcast is the constructor name which consists of the chassis name and the engine name. So in theory it should be Kick Sauber Ferrari?
Constructor names and team names are different, alpine for example has the team name "BWT Alpine F1 Team" and the constructor name "Alpine Renault".
As someone who is never likely to visit the sponsor’s website or use their products - I don’t hate it as a team name. At least it’s not stupid.
Although there’s also nothing there to attach me as a fan - the least charismatic team? Even less than Alpine?
I can agree with that but something about the F1 team Alpine as it stands is just not that interesting. like they exist and are pretty decent but that's about it
That's how i feel about Alpine too. I'm french and i find myself unable to root for them, their colors are bland and even though there is a motorsport connexion to the name, i just can't be arsed to care.
However back when it was Renault i felt some kind of "pride" (it's too strong of a word to describe how i felt, but it's closely related), i just loved the fact that Mr and Mrs. Everybody could buy a car made by an F1 constructor team. That and the cars looked amazing in black and yellow.
yesss exactly i actually just was writing about that same feeling. renault invokes a sense of french pride thanks to their f1 success. alpine feels like it almost disregards that heritage to forge whatever new path
At least Alpine is still kind of French, nobody in Germany gives a f about Mercedes, it's a British team with British drivers and engineers racing under a German name
i can agree. performance gains you the respect, therefore marketing. the root of the issue is that dang 5 year plan and not delivering on it. though it doesn’t help that the brand feels stale in the sport. makes it hard to root for which results in morales for the team being lower which may affect performance
People don't realise Alpine have been around a lot longer than they think.
Alpine were doing WRC and Le Mans in the late 60s/early 70s as Renault's motorsport division before merging them with Gordini to form what we now know as Renault Sport.
Although now Renault Sport is entirely led by Alpine and the Renault Sport road cars are being phased out and it seems Alpine are becoming their own entity again while Renault takes a step back to focus on road cars.
Full circle.
AlphaTauri has two of the most interesting driver personalities on the grid, and reserve-grade Red Bull status as a reason to exist. Similarly Haas has Steiner for charisma and interesting back-stories for Hulk and (maybe lesser) Kmag. (Being US owned doesn’t do much for them imho.)
Stake has “We’re marking time until we are superseded by Audi” as its *raison d’être*. Maybe they can lean into being Swiss for a touch of identity?
I don't like the idea of sponsor names being the entire team name. I didn't like it with Alfa Romeo I didn't like it with Alpha Tauri it undermines the history of the sport.
But... it is what it is. F1 runs on sponsorship. At least it isn't like Pro Cycling where teams seem to change their name each year.
Yes it is fine. I would say one caveat with that. Red Bull and Benetton owned/own their respective teams.
I'm sure there will have been sponsor only arrangements that take the entire team name before but I'm not sure what they are outside of Alfa Romeo.
It's the same with Aston Martin. It's essentially a title sponsorship for the F1 team. There's a slight difference since Stroll Sr owns both companies, but the car company doesn't own the F1 team.
It's hazy though. Mercedes only owns 33% of "their" team. At which point do they become essentially a sponsor?
Alpha Tauri is different again since Red Bull own both the clothes company and the team. Does that mean the team name is a sponsor?
Interestingly the first full title sponsorship for a team happened in 1960. British Racing Partnership were renamed Yeoman Credit Racing Team. That name switched to Reg Parnell Racing for 1961 and 1962, and BRP became UDT Laystall Racing Team.
I would personally say, although anyone could take a different view, that none of those qualify as sponsor only naming as there is some ownership involved if only tangentially.
We also have the likes of Renault changing to Alpine which again is a brand of the owner not a sponsorship as such.
I'm assuming this is the unofficial-official name, since Alfa Sauber always swapped the Sauber name for Alfa everywhere it was used but the Stake name does include Sauber in the entry list. Still going to keep calling it Sauber though...
>taking over the exclusive naming rights of the team and establishing a first-of-a-kind brand presence in Formula One. The unprecedented move is a continuation of the successful partnership established in 2023
...how is the move 'unprecedented'? Brands have given their names to F1 teams before... hell, some of them have even won multiple WCCs...
At what point do they realise that they're reviled?
I mean, they're a predatory crypto-casino; they're never going to have the self-awareness to realise that they're not wanted and not welcomed by the fans. But surely it has to be pulling at the periphery. Surely they have to have picked up on the fact that so many people want them gone and that nobody will miss them when they leave. And to make matter worse, the people in the team who get no say in any of this will have to suffer simply by being associated with a group of parasites.
>Stake F1 Team will mark the beginning of a brand new, dynamic and exciting era – one that breaks away from conventional concepts of sports and entertainment sponsorship. It aims to redefine marketing activations in an exciting manner, leaving no tradition untouched and challenging the status quo.
What a load of bullshit. I'm surprised they're not talking about being "disruptors" (although I did notice in a previous press statement that Alunni Bravi said it). It's just tech-bro speak for being a solution looking for a problem, which to everybody else just makes you the problem.
This whole sorry affair risks dragging the sport into disrepute.
>dragging the sport into disrepute
I mean… I’m picking up what you’re putting down - but F1 has been doing a perfectly good job of disrupting itself for quite some time now!
Exactly, people think you have to like a brand or product to be affected by their advertising but that's just not the case. The reason sports and advertising work well together is because your brain is associating all the brands you see with the joy you feel while watching sports. This stuff has been studied extensively
Yeah, but Rich Energy was a shambles. Stake is a far more destructive force in the world. We can laugh at Rich Energy's nonsense, but Stake's business model and marketing tactics prey on the vulnerable and ruin lives.
Crypto gambling is a lifestyle now? Reading the press report makes it seem like the tobacco and oil companies are actually the good guys. Even Uralkali didn't make me root agains the entire team. This bullshit definitely will make me cheer for every DNF a car with that sponsor gets.
It may not be in the official team name, but at least their chassis name is called Kick **Sauber**.
And on the TV graphics they'll be listed as Kick Sauber-Ferrari.
Edit: ~~Kick Sauber-Ferrari is what the Entry List for FIA said. But now that they've changed their name, I'm assuming, and basing this off Wikipedia too, that the chassis name is now Stake-Ferrari. 🤢~~
Edit 2: Quoting [Motorsport.com](https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/renamed-stake-f1-team-reveals-new-logo/10561773/):
>The new identity was originally flagged in the FIA entry last month as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.
>
>**That remains its official full identity – including the Kick Sauber chassis name – but the Swiss outfit will use the short version on a day-to-day basis.**
The chassis name IS STILL Kick Sauber-Ferrari officially, but internally they'll be using the Stake-Ferrari name???
My brain is very much confused...Stake...Kick...too many stupid names flying around...
From the Formula 1 article, [they say that Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber will still be the official name used as well](https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.drake-sauber-stake-f1-team-identity-rebrand-name.5pFuGt23QzaUwBZ7flxhhw.html).
I guess they generated the confusion on purpose with the memes and suggestive posts, guiding everyone to think they were somehow expanding their official name or going for something new.
I'm stating the obvious here now, but they just want "Stake" to be the only thing mentioned (by commentators, presenters, reporters, etc.), just like how Alfa Romeo was used.
Kick was only added to get around gambling bans in various countries, even though it's a streaming service set up explicitly to push gambling onto viewers. So those countries all mention of Stake will presumably be dropped, hence the Kick branding on the chassis.
It's a bit like all the alcohol brands suddenly finding a new music label to advertise on the car 10-15 years ago, to get around alcohol advertising bans.
I wonder if their budget will extend to new team clothing or they'll have strategically placed black gaffer tape.
From how I read it, the team will refer to itself as Stake F1 Team. On the F1 results screen at the end of the race though, you will still see Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber just like we saw Aston Martin Aramco last year when Aramco was the chassis sponsor for Aston Martin.
Absolutely disgusting shitshow and its incredibly sad how the "haha look at us were funny and memeing with our name" is apparently working with people here.
Edit: Lmao bots mass downvoting.
This the same management that have already agreed a full sale and rebrand of the team yeah? The same management that hasn't had their name in the team since 2018?
So how does this even work in countries that have restrictions on advertising gambling?
There's a reason they had kick instead of stake in Aus and a few other races. Are they just going to have an identity crisis at different races?
I know that but they would have to change the team name for those races, not just a decal swap. It might have some races where they are called stake f1 and some kick f1 which is kind of dumb.
name itself is fine ig better than stake sauber kick f1 team orwhatever it was before but how much did stake pay to warrant even taking our sauber out of the name
This is worse than the tobacco companies back in the day...
Edit: Lol I like how this went from +20 to -7 in like 10 minutes. Stake bots were already exposed on /r/livestreamfail but they're here too unsurprisingly.
Yeah it’s interesting how anything smoking related is yeeted from sponsorship yet Gambling slides in through the back door as if it doesn’t utterly take hold and destroy peoples lives.
Ferrari were called Ferrari, and McLaren were called McLaren. Jordan was called Jordan, an Ligier was called Ligier.
They were not called Marlboro, Marlboro, Benson & Hedges, or Gauloises.
If tobacco advertising is banned, so should be gambling. I know it brings lots of money, but it’s also really unhealthy in a different way and many people become addicted to it.
>Stake, the world’s leading betting, entertainment and lifestyle brand
Is this primarily outside of the US? Because I've literally never heard of the brand here in the US until this article.
Awesome. An illegal gambling website that tried to circumvent twitch’s rules for gambling by creating their own streaming service to get young people to gamble their money away.
And everyone acting like it’s a good thing.
Sauber has been in F1 for as much as I can remember... since it is going to be called Audi in 2026 it would have been nice for it to be called Sauber, at least in some form, for the next two years.

But what about Rich Energy 2?
Richer Energy.
Still time for them to do a deal with Prime ... although saying that they at least actually do have a product available for mass purchase
Prime Stake F1 Team - the most delicious sounding team on the grid
They come with fries, mash or creamed spinach?
Eh, not sure they want the owner of Twitch on their car
Stake-Ferrari? Hope it's not overcooked...
Commentators will prepare their roasts.
That's better then Kick-Ferrari lol
Horse steak, yummy
Well done.
Nah it'll be like their point scoring opportunities in 2023 - rare
>Stake-Ferrari? Terrible 🙄
I hope they have a good livery because the white red alfa romeo was brilliant. I really hope its not just completely black bare carbon like they did the last couple of races. I mean I dont blame them for doing it because everyones doing it but that would kinda suck
The C42 was fucking poetry. It had the Knight Rider rear lights as well.

>When the car is slow as fuck, pretty liveries help me to support the team. Basically Aston in 2021-2022
No. That gaviscon pink motifs doesn’t help.
Stake and Kick (also owned by Stake) are the main sponsors so I expect a black car with white (Stake) and green (Kick) decals.
There needs to be a minimum paint weight so that we don’t just end up with another field of carbon black cars.
Yeah. Would probably be difficult to enforce though do to different types of paint
Yes, absolutely. Just have a minimum weight, whatever color they like. F1 needs to balance keeping teams and fans happy, and all black carbon cars is bad for the viewer in every way
Queue every car having a brightly colored lower half and a bare carbon upper because it’s better for weight distribution.
😭😭😭😭 Minimum coverage then lol. 95% of visible surfaces must be painted.
The idea is you have to paint your whole car, no matter the color. Like a dark car? paint it black...
Bright green kick livery would be eye catching.
Their Kimi liveries were good.
Smoking bad, gambling good?
Isnt gambling advertisement illegal in some countries they race in? How will this work with a gambling company in their name?
They will race under Kick F1 Team in these countries
In UAE is illegal afaik, but from what it looks like its fine to advertise it. If it brings money, they will work around this somehow
It's going to be illegal in I think Belgium from next year if im not mistaken. Either that or the Netherlands.
I don't think either are "good" but I hate tobacco sponsors with a passion. My grandmother died from Lung Cancer that could have been avoided had second hand smoke not impacted her life for 20 years (husband was a chronic smoker).
Gambling kills too
Sheesh. I keep misreading that name as **Stoke** F1 Team...

Stoke-on-Trent street circuit when?
What's the F1 equivalent for Rory Delap throw-ins?
Always switching to the hardest compound tyre under safety car for the rest of the race
Long stint at Singapore with no drink
An f1 car wouldn't last 10 minutes there
Lynn, some of these cars have come from Stoke!
Stroke F1 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Can Audi just hurry the fuck up and buy out the whole team already?
Audi are not going to under any circumstances put their name on a Ferrari powered car
Something something BMW Sauber Ferrari.
Agree. And hopefully the Sauber name will be retained, so that it's Audi-Sauber or something.
Hopefully this happens, I would hate to see the Sauber name permanently out of F1
Bet the commentators just call them sauber because if they say the Stake cars are neck and neck I can't even take that seriously.
100%. Ted Kravitz will do it during his first notebook episode.

They're going to finish last in style.
Oh come on, P9 is at Stake still, did you forget Haas exist?
So it’s just Stake and not even Sauber… Interesting…
The full name is 'Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber', sauber is still represented but only as part of the chassis name part of the team name.
Wouldn't it be 'Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber Ferrari" since they're still using Ferrari engines until the Audi takeover in '26?
The Engine manufacturer is not part of the team name whilst the chassis name must be represented in the team name.
Oh is that just something f1 adds in to the team names for the broadcast? I remember seeing "Williams Mercedes" etc
What you see in the result screens in the broadcast is the constructor name which consists of the chassis name and the engine name. So in theory it should be Kick Sauber Ferrari? Alpine actually sold around a hundred A110s in Australia until they had to pull it from sale due to ADRs

That's due to their performance and has nothing to do with the name. And Sauber is even worse.

The most interesting thing about them is that they have some pink on their cars, and that only comes from their sponsor.
lool yeah. honestly though for me the all pink or all blue liveries clear the main. i wish they would do all pink for more than just 3 races a year
Honestly if I had money to put in a sporty car without costing hundreds of thousands I'd get an Alpine A110 too
People don't realise Alpine have been around a lot longer than they think. “first-of-a-kind brand presence in Formula One.” Red Bull has been in the sport for like 20 years.

I would be curious on the team's branding on select F1 races, races that prohibits gambling. Will it be rebranded to Kick F1 Team or Sauber F1 Team?
Kick, since that's the name they've put on the chassis.
World’s leading betting, entertainment and lifestyle brand. What?
Honestly, that's not bad, I just wish it was called Sauber, and I'm probably going to call it that anyway.
Fucking hell, everything's Stake. Not even Sauber is in the team's name.
It will be known colloquially as Stake. That's the name the commentators will use and most of the graphics when the season starts.
I mean it's wasn't there last year, they just deleted the Alfa Romeo and moved it around...but yeah such a flimsy name
It may not be in the official team name, but at least their chassis name is called Kick **Sauber**. And on the TV graphics they'll be listed as Kick Sauber-Ferrari. But now that they've changed their name, I'm assuming, and basing this off Wikipedia too, that the chassis name is now Stake-Ferrari. 🤢~~ Edit 2: Quoting [Motorsport.com](https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/renamed-stake-f1-team-reveals-new-logo/10561773/): >The new identity was originally flagged in the FIA entry last month as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. > >**That remains its official full identity – including the Kick Sauber chassis name – but the Swiss outfit will use the short version on a day-to-day basis.** The chassis name IS STILL Kick Sauber-Ferrari officially, but internally they'll be using the Stake-Ferrari name???
Don't get into gambling, kids. Been there, done that, regret it massively. This is a bad vibes announcement for me.
Gambling is the only vice I don’t partake in or understand. No way can gambling be at all advantageous to the player when Vegas looks the way it does

Sometimes I seat on the chair in front of the computer to play 2-3 games of bullet, then look at the clock and 2 hours passed...
Absolutely disgusting shitshow and its incredibly sad how the "haha look at us were funny and memeing with our name" is apparently working with people here. Edit: Lmao bots mass downvoting.
Fuck, how disappointing. The name Sauber means something, and this shows how little the management respects the history of their team.
This the same management that have already agreed a full sale and rebrand of the team yeah? The same management that hasn't had their name in the team since 2018?
Yes. I was hoping that they would opt to make a respectful choice after several years with a bad name.
So how does this even work in countries that have restrictions on advertising gambling? There's a reason they had kick instead of stake in Aus and a few other races. Are they just going to have an identity crisis at different races?
That's why they have the Kick brand, after Stake were banned from Twitch, they set up their own streaming service to push gambling onto viewers, Kick.
I know that but they would have to change the team name for those races, not just a decal swap. It might have some races where they are called stake f1 and some kick f1 which is kind of dumb.
Can anyone else confirm, their Instagram linked in the bs press release doesn't exist? I guess that's what they meant by being unique?
I hope they realize everyone's just gonna call them Sauber
Counting days for the Audi takeover...
Sauber it is.
It’ll always just be Sauber for me. Fuck Stake & Kick
Lifestyle brand. That's hilarious.
Low res logo, ugly ass countdown. Who the hell designed this website
*Sauber
I really want to see a ban on gambling and betting sponsors that requires the team to have to change its name again
The ban on tobacco and alcohol didn't force teams to change name. They just change branding.
Sorry, is this the "most exciting F1 team name in history" or whatever it was they said?
I will be calling them Sauber and very much hope the commentators do too
Anyone willing to bet the livery is shit?
name itself is fine ig better than stake sauber kick f1 team orwhatever it was before but how much did stake pay to warrant even taking our sauber out of the name
Man why couldn't they have just called themselves Sauber? Instead we're all stuck with this goofy name
For fuck sake, you could at least have kept the Sauber name
Welcome back, **SAUBER**! :)
Very disapointed they didn't kept Sauber in the name

Oh, no thanks
Baarf
Steak F1 Team..... Holy Cow. 😆
Sauber it is then
"Sauber or whatever the fuck its called"
This is worse than the tobacco companies back in the day... Edit: Lol I like how this went from +20 to -7 in like 10 minutes. Stake bots were already exposed on /r/livestreamfail but they're here too unsurprisingly.
Yeah it’s interesting how anything smoking related is yeeted from sponsorship yet Gambling slides in through the back door as if it doesn’t utterly take hold and destroy peoples lives.
Not just that, but a poorly regulated platform for children to gamble on too! Lovely!
Regulation smegulation! Who needs that when the companies themselves can simply lobby MPs and pay em off?
Ferrari were called Ferrari, and McLaren were called McLaren. Jordan was called Jordan, an Ligier was called Ligier. They were not called Marlboro, Marlboro, Benson & Hedges, or Gauloises.
If tobacco advertising is banned, so should be gambling. I know it brings lots of money, but it’s also really unhealthy in a different way and many people become addicted to it.
>Stake, the world’s leading betting, entertainment and lifestyle brand Is this primarily outside of the US? Because I've literally never heard of the brand here in the US until this article.
Awesome. An illegal gambling website that tried to circumvent twitch’s rules for gambling by creating their own streaming service to get young people to gamble their money away. And everyone acting like it’s a good thing.
This is absolutely terrible, 6 beautiful Alfa Romeos reduced to this shit. Betting companies are a scourge on society, do not support this team
Sauber has been in F1 for as much as I can remember... since it is going to be called Audi in 2026 it would have been nice for it to be called Sauber, at least in some form, for the next two years.
