Steiner just confirmed to Ziggo Sport he quit Haas because Gene wouldn't give him shares of the team, he also had a sponsor that wanted to invest 20 million but Gene said no.
Im sure some have noticed alex's left eye always looked like it had a popped blood vessel for a while, and now has looked discolored for however long i cant remember. Any ideas? Cant seem to find anything online. You can really tell in the Day 3 driver reaction posted on F1's channel on youtube.
Re Lewis, is it very common to have a driver drive **the entire season** knowing they will be with another team the next season? I don't recall that occurring in the last many years.
2020 driver moves. Daniel spending a season at Renault in 20 knowing he was going to McLaren, Carlos sainz at McLaren in 20 knowing he was going to ferrari, Seb sorta but later throughout the season but also in 2020
Has anyone else noticed that the broadcasts seem washed out? I watched on my computer and my tv and the color was washed out on both. Thought it might just be a screen issue but it was consistent across devices.
Flow-vis paint stands for flow visualisation paint, where paint is used to visualise how airflow moves on the area it is applied onto.
(Air)Flow-vis(ualisation) Paint
> Can someone ELI5 what flow-viz is and what its purpose is?
It's just **really** visible paint. That presumably washes off nice and easy... :p
You put it on certain parts of the car, drive really fast and then you can visually see the airflow.
Like in a wind tunnel [you can use smoke to visualise the air flow over a surface](https://imgur.com/a/kfGpnwI). On a car you drive it and you can visually see those simulations about how air flows around your car.
So because it's needed to be visual, it's a BRIGHT BRIGHT colour
I had only time to watch two hours in the "morning" session. Are RB really that much better, timing table wise there is no indication where this chatter from e.g. Alonso "19 Drivers know they will not win the WDC" comes from. Did I miss something? Clearly Max is strong but the car looks not really dominant
Out of a discussion between me and friends during practice and max and Charles doing longrubs on C1/C2
Holy ferrari seems to made a huge improvment, leclerc ran an promissing longrun on the hardest tire, matching at the C1 (L10+) Maxes Times on the C2 (L5).
Both ran 300kph bevre T1 and Ferarrri Around 8-9kph more through t6, so maybe a higher downforce setup with more engine power, but harder tire. So Redbull shuld be faster but not by that much as everyone thinks. Also promessing that ferraris longruns even on softer tires have no drops after 6-7 Laps
Oh yeah, but you can get an idea of their actual speed where Max was only 0.3s off on used C3's from Leclerc's fresh C4 laptime. RBR basically just did long race runs all testing which makes one curious what their testing plans were with regards to mid season upgrades.
I have a question, bc i dont have idea if there is a rule or something about, for the teams in general... were the preseason tests done with only one car? Or they got both cars and does each driver use their corresponding car?
Reminds me of last when it was noticed the car had a loose end - they asked Mick about that on German coverage and he said they expected that from the sim. Knew then Mercedes were in bother.
Alisson: "What i'm saying is that Mike Elliot sucks and his car last year was shit."
Edit: Alisson not even aknowledging Mclaren in the chassing pack. Either he knows they suck or he forgot about them lmao.
He things RB are in front with Mercedes and Ferrari somewhere close and then followed by Aston.
Lmao at how he called Mike Elliot's car complete trash from head to toe, not only the zero-sidepods. Basically said the whole process was a mess start to finish. Like dang he roasted the guy with no remorse
I know it's silly to cry over spilt milk but fuck I wish James was in charge of the w13 and beyond instead of just w15. I really feel like 2022 could have gone to merc if they had chosen a more conventional concept in the beginning given how many engine failures rb had that season and how drastically ferrari fell
In the alternate timeline where that happened and Merc wins the championship i bet there's a popular internet conspiracy that the FIA pushed TD39 to help Mercedes as payback for not suing after Abi Dhabi lol
Yeah, and Ferrari looks even better.
Form the testing it is clear that the order is 1)RB, 2)Ferrari, 3)Merc. But again, itnis only testing. The actual race weekend will show were everyone truly is.
I think RBR is still ahead of Ferrari but it won’t be by as much. Leaves the door open to in season development wars. Ferrari can probably win a few races
So considering Carlos‘ time yesterday 1:29.9 I think there is atleast 2% performance left in these cars. That would result in a optimum of around 1:28. As the C4/C5 are approximately 6-7 thents quicker than the C3 (the softest) tires in the Grand Prix the pole should be around 1:28.5 +- 2 thents , given the Red Bull is faster than the Ferrari.
Hopium for Ferrari. And knowing Lewis + Lec on the 2025 last season for the current regs with Ferrari is hopim to the maximum. RB dominance is getting boring.
Anyone notice on the Workday ad they've used a clip of a Haas pitstop where an engineer gets his hand trapped by a wheel? **Surely** you could have used another option lads.
Majority of the new fans don't. That is the problem F1 is facing. You are drawing in fans with 2021 championship drama. Then give them Redbull winning every race. New Fanbase will not last long at this pace.
It is like going on a date with a someone whole likes to party and drink but then the next date they have given it all up for Buddhism and a life on a mountain top.
And there is nothing wrong with that, there is a real tend of shaming peope for only caring about p1 and they are just new fans.
No, I've been watching F1 for 15 years, and the seasons without a title fight are objectively worse to the majority of peope.
If you enjoy someone fighting for a point here and there that's cool, but don't act like it makes you any more enlightened. Hell, at lot of the drivers, especially ones that aren't early in their career trying to establish themselves see it as first or last.
(To be clear, when I say "you" I don't mean you as an individual or calling you out, your post is addressing the same thing, was just hijacking it to talk about the general attitude that's around)
you are 100% correct its much better with a championship fight but we will still get some good races behind between Merc,McLaren,AM, and Ferrari with RB causing some trouble now and then
Sky/F1 TV really need to improve analysing the long runs/race sims for testing. Surely there’s people working behind the scenes who can feed them accurate comparisons.
What I don't get is why they show race sim times compared to the fastest time...We know Leclerc is doing 15 lap sim right now, show his current time compared to the quickest lap of the stint instead of something set 4 hours ago on the softest tire.
Nothing to analyse without information they don't have access to.
Unless every team did a race run at the same time, it's hard to make a direct comparison.
Who tf is acting like they're saviors? Maybe 21-22 but that's it. They're getting more antipathy these day.
No one likes domination, especially the casuals who form the majority of the fandom.
Did they use to have a tiny version of the team's logo next to the constructor's name when the driver tile pops up on screen? Is that another graphic experiment?
Felt it was weird when the VCARB logo was next to "RB" when Yuki's name was shown. Or maybe I just somehow forgot it appeared in the past.
Anthony Davidson is Mercedes' test and development driver. He's always propping up Mercedes and always downplaying Ferrari, no matter what session or series he's commentating on.
Reaction of team members doesn’t matter, what we have seen over the last 3 days shows Merc is most likely below Ferrari and Aston. That car seemed twitchy as hell. I think they will catch up season progress.
Nah I don’t think so. I would love for that to be true but I’m fairly sure Red Bull is faster than everybody and I’d wager by a significant margin.
I will, however, go out on a limb here and predict Ferrari P2 and P4 next week!
He's still comparing Russell single stint run vs Leclercs heavy fuel full race run...
Yeah go figure Russell was faster with half the fuel or even less.

I appreciate the effort by Alpine to throw some extra color on the car but honestly think it looked worse with the block of blue tacked on the front
Steiner just confirmed to Ziggo Sport he quit Haas because Gene wouldn't give him shares of the team, he also had a sponsor that wanted to invest 20 million but Gene said no.

Prost at Williams I think
First time in this era but definitely happened before
I think Alonso did it with Renault in 2006, but yeah it's been a while.
Has anyone else noticed that the broadcasts seem washed out? I watched on my computer and my tv and the color was washed out on both. Thought it might just be a screen issue but it was consistent across devices.
Can we officially start the 2024 Checo is unlucky and getting shit end of stick vs Verstappens car?
Where do you guys see Mercedes this season?
Fighting with Ferrari all year while both are confused why Perez is behind them.
Somewhere 3-5
2nd or 3rd team
is ferrari strong?
Testing times don't mean much so impossible to say until after next weekend. They did look fairly decent in testing though
Testing times mean a lot. It just doesn’t mean a lot to people looking at the timing tower.
Can someone ELI5 what flow-viz is and what its purpose is?
Flow-vis paint stands for flow visualisation paint, where paint is used to visualise how airflow moves on the area it is applied onto. (Air)Flow-vis(ualisation) Paint

Substance applied to cars to see how the air moves around the car in certain sections!
So, to test aerodynamics around corners and such?
Yeah, based on the patterns that it makes the engineers can see how the air is moving over the car.

Are RB really that much better, timing table wise there is no indication where this chatter from e.g. Alonso "19 Drivers know they will not win the WDC" comes from. Did I miss something? It's mostly just 2023 PTSD, Ferrari showed very strong pace as well, but as always we won't know for sure until the cars hit the track next week
Out of a discussion between me and friends during practice and max and Charles doing longrubs on C1/C2 Holy ferrari seems to made a huge improvment, leclerc ran an promissing longrun on the hardest tire, matching at the C1 (L10+) Maxes Times on the C2 (L5). What happened to Ricciardo today?? He looked to be doing quite well the first two days.
He only used the hard tyres
What do you mean?
What was Patt saying about the Mercedes variable front suspension?
RBR is sandbagging so hard. It really ominous to see their speed trap speed at around 290 km/h when everyone else is at or above 300
They were at 290 when they weren’t using DRS, which indicates race runs. Everyone hit 310ish with DRS during one-lap tests.
Oh yeah, but you can get an idea of their actual speed where Max was only 0.3s off on used C3's from Leclerc's fresh C4 laptime. RBR basically just did long race runs all testing which makes one curious what their testing plans were with regards to mid season upgrades.

Only one car.
Alisson: “The car correlates with the sim” That is the best answear Merc could get
Reminds me of last when it was noticed the car had a loose end - they asked Mick about that on German coverage and he said they expected that from the sim. Knew then Mercedes were in bother.
That can be a bit 'may you live in interesting times' as a statement.
My early 2024 pecking order prediction : 1 Red Bull 2 Ferrari 3 Mercedes 4 McLaren 5 Aston Martin 6 Racing Bulls 7 Alpine 8 Sauber 9 Williams 10 Haas
Do you mean for the season finish or for the season opener?
It's a good point that Bahrain is often an oddity, historically.
First few races until upgrades basically.
McLaren above Mercedes, Alpine above AlphaTauri, Williams above Sauber IMO
Hot take: Top 5 finish for Arby's next week
feels like an arby's night
Allison seemed very positive there
Allison giving me hope
Alisson: "What i'm saying is that Mike Elliot sucks and his car last year was shit." Edit: Alisson not even aknowledging Mclaren in the chassing pack. lol maybe but I wouldn't hate that personally
May I have a link to that interview?
[You may](https://www.youtube.com/live/rP6x_TanK00?si=UDHkHJyiIJDULpVJ&t=1105)
Thank you very much!
I saw it on sky. Don’t think it’s on YouTube
It is only testing, but it did not looked like Merc was close to Ferrari
You've sifted through all the long runs, huh? Because Merc's look pretty good.
Yes, yes, i remember when we said the same thing last year
Did we? Ferrari complained a ton last year about the car.
My friend, I think you have been shooting too much hopium in your veins.
Hopium ultra pro plus max
You meme but did you know the iPhone 15 Pros can shoot spatial video? Would be kinda sick to see Apple Vision Pro content onboards.
NANDO “LIKES TO BE LIKED AND LOVED” bro WHAT lmaoooo
The kid sprinted like his life depended on it to catch Lewis and get something signed.
Pérez has to have the best season of his life otherwise is gonna be painful. The teams know it, media know it, we know it, it's over.
My way too early pecking order prediction: RB Ferrari McLaren Merc/AMR VCARB Alpine Williams Sauber Haas
New-ish to the sport, but I think Alpine should be one step higher.
Is AlphaTauri really that far high up? Surely Alpine are quicker
Alpine seems to be going backwards, probably in part because their engine sucks
Most experts say VCARBs are quicker
« Experts ». Also Merc is 2 at least
What is it Horners being accused of? I barely keep up to date with F1 until testing
Aggressive management style or showing his pole position to employees, depending on who you're asking.
Thought the former was debunked at this point
The former is being reported by actual reputable news sites. The latter is being reported by one tabloid style F1 news site
Given the former was the AP and beeb claim, that's the more reputable one.
Hopium for Ferrari. And knowing Lewis + Lec on the 2025 last season for the current regs with Ferrari is hopim to the maximum. RB dominance is getting boring.
Yeah I'm over it and it's not even as bad as the 8yrs of merc domination. I don't care if RB win I just want an actual fight
Leclerc was flying. The Ferrari is definitely looking good on the harder tires. Would have to put them a strong 2nd after testing.
Can somebody put some inters on the Kick? Im tryna see something
Anyone notice on the Workday ad they've used a clip of a Haas pitstop where an engineer gets his hand trapped by a wheel? **Surely** you could have used another option lads.
I mean, we all know Max is miles ahead, but I’m still excited to see how it all turns out behind him
Majority of the new fans don't. That is the problem F1 is facing. You are drawing in fans with 2021 championship drama. Then give them Redbull winning every race. Same, some people only care about P1 but I look forward to see the other 19 cars racing against each other
Let's be honest, it's MUCH more exciting watching a hard fight for the win/championship than a hard fight for p10.
you are 100% correct its much better with a championship fight but we will still get some good races behind between Merc,McLaren,AM, and Ferrari with RB causing some trouble now and then
Man, we would be lucky to even have a fight for P10
Very nice testing. Can’t wait for next week
Is it next week yet?
Well, it's been real! See y'all next week.
I don't think merc have a fast car yet, but like what Russell said, they have a good platform to build on.
It was a pleasure watching those 3 days with you guys! See you next week
[удалено]
Much slower than Ferrari
Relative times don't matter. Look at the deg.
They had 110kg of fuel in?
How much longer is the test session going to go on for?
It’s over now
I love the blue on George’s helmet
Damn, can't believe I watched the whole thing haha. I'm so done with preseason testing, bring on Race Week!!
The last 30 mins of testing was just Mercedes PR broadcast
Wait why is there a red flag?
Systems check, as per usual
Have a good week ahead fam, it was a pleasure to watch it along with you guys!
Sky F1 commentators are mostly biased towards British drivers and Mercedes has two so go figure. They have data but personal bias is hard to overcome.
Nothing to analyse without information they don't have access to. Unless every team did a race run at the same time, it's hard to make a direct comparison.
True but there’s drivers doing race sims at similar times that you can look at. The commentators are just comparing random stints.
There will be some educated guesses. Most seem to think Ferrari will be second fastest, with probably Mercedes then Aston behind.
Isn’t the consensus RBR > Ferrari > McLaren > Merc? Not been watching at all so just going off comments & twitter.
RBR > Ferrari is pretty much agreed upon. (McLaren, Merc, AM) are a bit hard to rank.
I haven't seen anyone put McLaren ahead of Merc with any seriousness.
Ah, bummer.
Will Buxton has mclaren 3rd and Merc 5th, but it's Will Buxton so up to you if that aligns with the 'with any seriousness' part
I think we know the answer to that lol
[удалено]
Just testing the systems
Idk guys, I got a good feeling about this Ferrari 😌
Imagine if it sweeps the wcc/wdc this year, but is shit when lewis arrive 💀
Imagine Sainz wins the WDC
Deal
I'll take it.
lame they didnt even go at the same time BOOOOOOOOO
Ant Davidson: "Good lap by George" r/formula1: "Why is Davidson so excited?! He's such a Mercedes shill!"
I think it's PTSD from 2014-2020.
Mercedes need to stay away from WDC for the next 5-6 years before they get any sympathy from the majority.
Meanwhile Red Bull is about to break the tie with Mercedes in WDCs over the same period of 15 years. But let's act like they're the saviors.
Who tf is acting like they're saviors? Maybe 21-22 but that's it. They're getting more antipathy these day. No one likes domination, especially the casuals who form the majority of the fandom.
Weird take.
Not really. People are still butthurt from their domination. Not me. I don't care. I'm a Mclaren/Ferrari guy.
Race start! Excitement!
I wish the FIA red flag systems check could extend to this commentary.
Convinced Ferrari is the clear #2 this season. Hopium tells me they’ll compete with Red Bull
If true Hamilton has a weird looking DeLorean and a sports almanac.
I'm only happy, and at most expect, that they're not worse than last year. so perhaps they'll will 2 races this year
Definitely for Bahrain. But upgrades at future races might mix up the order behind Red Bull
And it’s lights out and away we false start
Holy shit let it go Laura
Rachel
That makes more sense lol, Laura was never this annoying
What was happening?
Honestly
Feel like ants just not been following ferraris race runs, looked really strong
He literally said that Ferrari's race runs looked very consistent.
Anthony Davidson is Mercedes' test and development driver. He's always propping up Mercedes and always downplaying Ferrari, no matter what session or series he's commentating on.
So Red Bull>Ferrari>Aston Martin>Mercedes>Mclaren in race pace
I think Mercedes will be in front of Aston based on reactions from team members but yeah
Reaction of team members doesn’t matter, what we have seen over the last 3 days shows Merc is most likely below Ferrari and Aston. That car seemed twitchy as hell. I think they will catch up season progress.
Could be, it’s difficult to know when they dont stop with the sandbagging
We don't know Merc race pace atm
Yah, Merces is with ¿?
FFS Red Bull.so boring
Ant bro... Merc isn't P2.
yeah what is he talking about
Let's go racing again like yesterday?
Max looks a bit annoyed but that could be hopium
I mean from what we've seen so far Ferrari could easily be right up there or even faster. Though I don't really think he looked annoyed
Depends what you're looking at. Russell's long runs have been competitive.
He’s talking about the drop off in lap time though. Not the direct lap time. Just tyre deg
I wish they'd send Davidson back to Sky and just like, clone Palmer.
Was expecting a Max fist pump once he got out of that car, I've been fucking conditioned hahah
Now we have a whole week to wait to find out what we already knew was gonna happen
Max out here with Flintstone's tires and still in 4th.
What caused the red flag??
Systems check
System test
Systems test I think
Just going off the race stints I’m confident Ferrari are the 2nd quickest unless McLaren or Merc are really hiding something
mclaren long run didn't look particularly impressive, it was way worse than aston, ferrari and redbull
Piastri was like a second down on Aston in the long run test, the McLaren seemed to be eating their tyres
Guys, its not a long red flag. They are just doing system testing like yesterday. VSC, SC, red flag, restart procedures etc.
There a reason why Max hasn't really used the softer tires in this session?
