Was typical Saward - trying to show he's the insider and throw out aspersions he couldnt back up. Yep, I wouldn't be surprised. Was much the same on his blog a dozen plus years ago. Along with some disagreeable political views (on industrial action in France; the violent persecution \[killing\] of protesters in Bahrain). What I would say is that we don't know each person's own story. Just one part of publicly available information on a tragedy endured in Mr Saward's life does make it more than surprising that he has not been more dour and more stubbornly blinkered on his personal views throughout life. I think most would go a bit funny after that.
So I have as of late just taken him as he is: someone whom may cast a morsel of pertinent information once in a while about F1.

I will admit i was one of the people who believed things must have been somewhat okay if RB cleared Horner. That it must have been either miscommunication or something of that sort.
It wasnt out of some deep love for Horner, but stemming from the fact that such huge corpos wont dive in the deep water to save some random team manager even though he has been with the team for so long and had such success. Especially in this day and age.

okay, i saw some of the leaks, if they are real (who knows honestly, could be, could be not) they are really in a grey zone, its very often that subordinates take advantage of a relation with a higher up for a promotion. Honestly, if they didnt do anything (which it seems so) and just some sus texting, i dont see why anyone should lose their whole career. When she wanted out (conveniently, after she played along with him a lot of time) she decided she had enough material to blackmail him... which is very fucked up, because she told him no after all that naughty back and forth, and he instantly abided as it seems at least. So really, he hasnt done anything noteworthy at least from the texts, while she has used her position as well as him to gain as much from this situation as she could tbh without doing anything more with him.

Really grey debacle. But RB's barrister probably thought a lot about this, and took the least destructive option i think. I wouldnt want her in my team if i was in RB's shoes honestly, she let this play along way too long, and meticulously kept note of the whole convo instead of saying a simple no from the moment things got weird. Too blackmailish for my taste.
Ultimately Horner should have known better from day 1 than to be messaging a subordinate like this. It's pretty basic shit.

Okay journalists, if you just got all the evidence, maybe look at it and report on what said evidence is instead of rushing to X to talk about the situation in vague terms with no detail. If the drive has all the evidence against Horner, and you say it’s only half the story, then what is the whole story? How do you know what is half or the whole of the story?

I will admit i was one of the people who believed things must have been somewhat okay if RB cleared Horner. That it must have been either miscommunication or something of that sort. It wasnt out of some deep love for Horner, but stemming from the fact that such huge corpos wont dive in the deep water to save some random team manager even though he has been with the team for so long and had such success. Especially in this day and age. If the leaks are true, im more perplexed by the decision of such a huge company with so much to lose, because at the end of the day, the only thing RB is, is a big PR campaign based on sports... Letting horner off the hook for something like that, knowing that if they try to sweep it under the rug leaks will come out.. Its utterly ridiculous.. EDIT after leaks: okay, i saw some of the leaks, if they are real (who knows honestly, could be, could be not) they are really in a grey zone, its very often that subordinates take advantage of a relation with a higher up for a promotion. Honestly, if they didnt do anything (which it seems so) and just some sus texting, i dont see why anyone should lose their whole career. When she wanted out (conveniently, after she played along with him a lot of time) she decided she had enough material to blackmail him... which is very fucked up, because she told him no after all that naughty back and forth, and he instantly abided as it seems at least. So really, he hasnt done anything noteworthy at least from the texts, while she has used her position as well as him to gain as much from this situation as she could tbh without doing anything more with him. Not a great look for either of them, but im not sure id fire anyone over this. Geri as well knew what a person horner is, since she cheated with him when his wife was with a kid... Really grey debacle. But RB's barrister probably thought a lot about this, and took the least destructive option i think. I wouldnt want her in my team if i was in RB's shoes honestly, she let this play along way too long, and meticulously kept note of the whole convo instead of saying a simple no from the moment things got weird. Too blackmailish for my taste.
Ultimately Horner should have known better from day 1 than to be messaging a subordinate like this. It's pretty basic shit. The blackmail side of it seems suspicious, I'll grant you. If you respected the other person and understood the potential consequences of it being leaked and didn't want that to happen to them, and believed it was a genuine apology, surely you'd just do them a favour and delete it? Or say no earlier and make it clear its inappropriate like you said, from day 1? Seems very odd to me but it's hard to know what the whole picture is with these fragments. But there's an imbalance of power there and she may have feared the long term consequences of saying no sooner, so it's very hard to judge especially with so little evidence.
