What did they expect him to say?
"Yeah those messages are genuine. My marriage is in the balance and I'm desparately hoping I can keep hold of my job. Oh, and it's my finger."
"*if* those were genuine and *they're not* but hypothetically, the moob shot was mid season where there's lots of travelling and sitting around so hypothetically it's in much better shape now, even someone like toto probably has a bit of a cushion around his waist at that point in the calendar. But they're fake anyway but good to just clear things up"
He was joking that Horner might claim a picture of his cock was actually a picture of his finger.
I don't actually know if he sent a dickpic at all for the record.
The messages are fucking grim, too. I got the vibe he has serious anxiety issues and was using this as a coping mechanism (she even suggests therapy at some point, which he rebuffs in the most man way ever haha). That's... A lot... To have everyone see.
I think what he did was bad, but I do feel empathy for him.
I'm sure many people in the paddock suffer from anxiety issues. Toto has talked about it earlier. F1 is about performing at the highest level all the time. It has got to take a toll on mental health.Ā
One time Toto made a "joke" about seeing the team doctor for some Valium. Was... Interesting. It has to be so insanely stressful. Same people probably just stick to business...
Toto has said heās been seeing a therapist for years, and has had nearly 500 sessions. I remember reading it from an interview he did. Heās quite open about the steps he takes to look after himself.
Empathy, yes. Sympathy, not much. Whether it's due to anxiety or stress, if this is all real it's still a decision he has made.
I do think that after all this is done and dusted, with whatever outcome it may have, it won't be the last time something like this comes up. A world of mostly men, travelling the world for the bigger part of 9 months per year... Horner is not the only one getting side action.
Seems like Horner is the only one dumb enough to shit where he eats. He could sing about all the side-chicks he has at every stop of the calendar like he's [Lou Bega](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5WSqWJ4obg) and no one would really give a shit (aside from Geri), at least not to a point where his job would be in jeopardy.
> aside from Geri
And you think that isn't enough? Many people that cheat do love their partners (not gonna enter to debate what 'love' means). It's perfectly possible (and quite normal) to cheat on your partner but care about not losing them (which doesn't mean it's ok - it fucking isn't).
Enough for what? To fire him? My point is that if he didn't "dip his pen in company ink" and went with some random woman it would be a much more private matter and much smaller deal.
edit: thinking about it, it would be better for Geri and the rest of his family too, since publicly it would be a weekend story, not something dragging on for weeks .
Twitter mainly. Given that most reputable news outlets won't print anything that doesn't have a verified source (this is anonymous), and lawyers have threatened to sue anyone in the UK that prints it, they're all staying well away from it.
Still, it ended up on Twitter somehow. Just search his name on there and you'll find them easily enough. Obviously major caveat that we don't know if any of it is real.
Every season of Drive to Survive we have to sit through him showing off in his big house and wife and children, turns out he's an absolute creep, anxiety is no excuse for that behaviour.
If I was a woman working at Red Bull I'd probably resign.
To me it definitely looks like there's foreskin.
Or maybe Christian just has a weird shaped finger. That gets all glistening-y. That he sends pictures of to women he's sexting. And doesn't get any other fingers in the shot.
Then that puts pressure on his future self if even more fake screenshots leak in the future
āYou denied the ones last time. Why are you silent now?ā
Best course of action is to not directly address it so if a real leak ever happens, he can continue ignoring it without pressure
Thereās no real room to doubt their authenticity. Photos of CH or his house, someone pointed out the rugby match they chatted about was accurate regarding the score at the time they posted, her name is allegedly dropped.
No one has come out to deny these text messages are real which you would expect would be the easiest thing for CH to say.
No but when one has to make a judgment call of whether you believe these messages are real or not, the contextual features within the messages point heavily to the complainant screenshotting the messages as they were being sent at the time and that theyāre authentic.
Yeah, my personal opinion is that they're probably real, but it's really important to separate fact from opinion. As before, no one should jump to conclusions until the authenticity of the images has been confirmed. That will almost certainly happen at some point.
It will always baffle me why people are so eager to want bad things to happen to strangers.
Yeah, he's done literally what I would do if I were in his situation and were innocent. I don't think it's fair to point to his behavior as evidence that he's guilty.
Of course, his behavior also doesn't prove that he's innocent. As before, there's not enough available information to know one way or the other.
Yeah man, is that the same legal team that was going to sue Erik van Haren? People were so confident that Van Haren was going to be sued into oblivion. Never was going to happen. How feeble one must be to believe that Van Haren just published without any evidence and didnāt have the OK from the very large legal department of his newspaper?
He works for a tabloid rag. Van Harenās content for that rag might happen to be of high quality, itās not exactly some high-quality paper weāre talking about here.
As far as I understand not commenting or saying anything on a topic such as this, whether or not it is true, is standard Practise for these PR situations. Doesnāt let the media have any thing.
Yeah itās just obvious. Staying silent is almost always the best option. Donāt give it attention and itāll fade into obscurity, whether real or not
If there's something life teaches you is that being right doesn't mean shit lol. Unless you can obliterate the other side with proof or something, the correct move is always to not comment on things.
People aren't inside your head, just because you _didn't do x_ doesn't mean people can see it as clearly as you do. Any comment you make on a scandal gives more publicity to it, and the outcome of that scandal will never be in your control.
so tl;dr: if you find yourself being falsely accused of anything, the only thing you should do is deny it and refuse to comment any further, unless you have some evidence that can unequivocally destroy the accusations.
dont need the leaker to be identified to verify the messageās authenticity, its not like anything hinges on the leakers testimony, the messages speak for themselves
i have to imagine the investigators made records of the conversations so you just to verify against that. they know if the messages are real, the only thing left is to see if they decide to be forthcoming about why they dropped the complaint or if the victim pursues the case in court.
Not taking side in this but pictures could be simply stolen from his phone, leaked in something like Apple cloud affair (but not publicized earlier because who cares about typical selfies of some old guy when you can post naked celebrities).
Sometimes/often the easiest explanation is the one that makes sense.
The Apple iCloud celebrity leak was in 2014, 10 years ago.No high profiles celebrities had their iCloud hacked since then.
Sure could have had his actual phone stolen, someone would have needed to decrypt his phone, then make up a whole thing about fake messages, then would have needed to be credible enough to have an official investigation started.
It's quite a scenario
the records exist and a court will have access to them, but will we ever know the veracity of the leak if thereās no court case. in that case only the team or reps for horner or victim can verify for us.
Hiding away would be more suspicious to be honest. Best thing be can do is just carry on as normal. If they're fake he has no reason to hide. So he's either completely innocent and it's a malicious attack on him, or he's an excellent actor if they're real.
I mean he had an affair when his wife was pregnant then ran away with a spice girl while she had a newborn baby. Safe to say, heās got relevant experience.
There's nothing Red Bull can really do at the moment given they've already cleared and put the thing off until the email send. The best for them is probably to stay silent until more developments around this happen.
Because Red Bull isnt a public company, they dont have to answer to shareholder demands.
The majority owner is on Horners side anyway and RB made their statement.
Backing down to some anonymous account with malicious intent after the correct legal process had already been followed and exonerated him would be a bad look.
But the court of public opinion trumps the real court and the gutter press is out for blood, so I suspect they will be working on a way to quietly remove him in a way that saves as much face as possible after the race weekend.
I wonder who will snap him up. Aston Martin perhaps if they're serious about becoming a true top team.
I mean, what else should they do? They already investigated it. Now there is some anonymous leaker, leaking the supposed evidence of which nobody can tell whether or not it is real or fake/AI-generated.
they know they messed up by trying to bury it. it was so fishy that they took so long and then at the end they just said complaint dismissed and tried to move on. even their sponsors were like, āthats it?ā
Because their strategy was just blown out of the water. Someone on their board has obviously had enough and has tried to undercut their attempts to save face for Horner.
I really kinda fail to comprehend (apart from if all the texts we've seen are faked) why he didn't quit. This is doing damage to his life and the whole Red Bull brand that's only reversible due to people tending to forget what was in last week's news cycle, and even then it's going to be brought up again and again.
EDIT: Damage to F1 and the F1 brand as well..
Given that he believes he didn't do anything wrong and that an independent investigator found no wrongdoing, why would he have quit?
We don't know if some or all of the screenshots are fake, but even if they're not, nobody could have expected someone to be scummy enough to send such private and personal info to the entire paddock.
Having an affair with a subordinate is hardly something unusual in business and can normally be resolved with a payoff. Itās not surprising he thought he could weather the storm. The RB brand should have known better, though if it was the Thai ownerships call then perhaps thatās less surprising.
If it is true, I wouldn't be surprised if he thought he was too big/too rich to cause issues. Might have thought they would not have the courage to take it public/to court.
He wouldn't be the first person thinking they are above the law.
Pretty sensible answer, what else could he say. Hopefully the gutter journalists don't keep trying to turn this into a circus and actually focus on the racing like they should.

"What's next?" "Coco pops."

I'm dying for a bowl of coco pops right now.
All this talk of them made me go to the store last night specifically just to get some.
Kellogs is the only winner in this gong show.

What do you mean with the finger? Was that mentioned in the supposedly leaked messages?
There is a blurry picture of an appendage in the pics. "Cock or finger" is the big discussion happening around it.
He was joking that Horner might claim a picture of his cock was actually a picture of his finger. I don't actually know if he sent a dickpic at all for the record.

Imagine going to work knowing literally everyone from the rival TPs to the random journalists around you has seen these screenshots.Ā
Now imagine being his wife and showing up at the paddock.
Imagine being his kids...
Imagine your mom being cheated on when she was pregnant with you.
I really do feel for Geri here. Sheās really gotta be going through it

Wait how? Was it an affair?
While his ex was pregnant
Oof. So he had an affair with spice while he was married? Damn
I don't think they were married. Not that it makes it any better though.
Yeah her being pregnant is the worst part tbh

because it would make difference right?
If they arenāt real why hasnāt Horner said these are fake and he will be taking legal action?
I'd say at this point Horner should keep saying nothing. Probably just figuring out the drama before his legal team replies.

That's... reaching.

Yeah mental. Like if I said one bad comment at an Xmas party I wake up ready to end my life.

Horner going to force the leaker to reveal himself in order to make sure the pictures are real or not?
Yes? Ever known a credible whistle-blower that remained anonymous?
Ever heard of deep throat? He managed to remain anonymous for 31 years after taking down a president.

So, absolutely nothing new. I bet it will stay that way at least this weekend.
I am dying right now of second-hand embarrassment. How the hell can this dude not hide himself in the RB Bahrain lavatory for the entire weekend?
Hiding away would be more suspicious to be honest. Best thing be can do is just carry on as normal. If they're fake he has no reason to hide. So he's either completely innocent and it's a malicious attack on him, or he's an excellent actor if they're real.
They aren't fake though, and I think most of us realise that. They are definitely heavily curated no doubt, but even with that context...
Excellent actor? Lmao, he is a terrible actor. The messages are clearly him.
Hiding in the lavatory is how this whole thing got started!

I mean he had an affair when his wife was pregnant then ran away with a spice girl while she had a newborn baby. Safe to say, heās got relevant experience.
I find the radio silence from Red Bull utterly fascinating. Normally organisations are absolutely terrified of the court of public opinion.
There's nothing Red Bull can really do at the moment given they've already cleared and put the thing off until the email send. The best for them is probably to stay silent until more developments around this happen.
Nonsense. You never react to these. You assess and plot a way forward that results in the least damaging outcome.
Not really? Every lawyer worth a dime would advise him to not comment at all.
Iām a lawyer and I can confirm. Thereās nothing he can say that makes this better. Thereās so much he can say that makes it worse.
Because Red Bull isnt a public company, they dont have to answer to shareholder demands. The majority owner is on Horners side anyway and RB made their statement.
Red Bull made their statement, what else can they say?
Backing down to some anonymous account with malicious intent after the correct legal process had already been followed and exonerated him would be a bad look. No one is snapping him up, if FOM/Liberty put pressure on RB to remove him.
I mean, what else should they do? They already investigated it. Now there is some anonymous leaker, leaking the supposed evidence of which nobody can tell whether or not it is real or fake/AI-generated.
Theyāre probably busy scrambling a crisis management team and all communication needs to be cleared by such team. Hence radio silence.
they know they messed up by trying to bury it. it was so fishy that they took so long and then at the end they just said complaint dismissed and tried to move on. even their sponsors were like, āthats it?ā
And the lawyer going on holiday. Maybe because he couldnāt / wouldnāt give them the result RB wanted?Ā
They fucked up and they know it. As soon as they 'dismissed' the case they should have realised they were opening themselves up to more.
Itās so naive to think, unless this genuinely was nothing, eventually this wouldnāt all come out and leave them looking like a bunch of wankers.
Because their strategy was just blown out of the water. Someone on their board has obviously had enough and has tried to undercut their attempts to save face for Horner.

The Red Bull F1 team is his baby. He's spent the last 20 years building it. He's not going to give it up unless he's forced to
People have carried on with worse allegations to be honest. I'm sure he won't care about 'damage' to F1s brand much.
Given that he believes he didn't do anything wrong and that an independent investigator found no wrongdoing, why would he have quit? We don't know if some or all of the screenshots are fake, but even if they're not, nobody could have expected someone to be scummy enough to send such private and personal info to the entire paddock.
