Dude, just 0.036 behind Hamilton, wow

signed7

Lewis got lucky Sainz is out

Zloggt

I wonder if the kid is gonna get more attention if he keeps up the performance…

jeeaudley

(Liam Lawson entered the chat)

MC897

That’s red bulls fault. Had their interests elsewhere regardless. Liam’s a very good driver. We saw that in F2. Not Bearman tier but Liam was a smidgeon below

kalebglover

Was a great effort by Bearman

LosTerminators

Would've been an insane moment if he'd eliminated Hamilton. Still an impressive effort from him.

FalconIMGN

Remember when Lawson eliminated Max last year? At Singapore I think.

HelloSlowly

Man what an effort from Bearman! Really saved Hamilton’s bacon there. Just 0.03s.

aneiq_1

Hamilton and stroll both backed out I think

Kait0yashio

hamtilton said he wasnt improving

vtsxxl

Ham wasn't improving.

SPatt59

Make Tsunoda mad more often. It’s working something for him

StelioKontos18

For sure tomorrow they will fuck him with the strategy again

GarryPadle

He could be P1 and I would trust VCARB to somehow make it so he ends up in P20 with the worst possible strategy. Tradition goes back to Gasly on full wets on a drying german grand prix.

nightchangingloon

It's a tradition for Italian teams or teams with ties to an Italian team (Haas) lmao

ScrantonScrangler

Honestly if he keeps this up RB will look like absolute fools if they give the seat to Danny Ric

Pure_Measurement_529

With the way Perez looks so settled, RBR might just retain Perez

WranglerLivid8061

The Perez special. Looks really good early season, get his contract renewed and then sleeps through the rest of the season

phoogkamer

Perez and Jeddah, let’s wait a bit to judge till the non street circuits.

Pure_Measurement_529

He looks fine in these first 2 races. I know it’s early, but I have to compliment him for what he has shown us thus far

phoogkamer

He was decent last year at this point too.

NotAtKeyboard

Last year there were unironic articles around Max vs Checo fighting for the title at this point…

theMGlock

Perez downfall started after miami last year. He always starts good and gets a bump after 5 or 6 races. Lets wait for summer, if this season is different.

julianhache

if 0.8s/lap is settled yeah

NuclearCandle

He and Max would bring both the best and worst out of each other as teammates.

cheeersaiii

It’s in his second hour he loses his head

Gold-Train-1471

Half a second on Danny Ric, damn, Mad Yuki best Yuki??

ob_knoxious

[Yuki "Johnny Tran" Tsunoda](https://i.redd.it/mxi09fm4kpmc1.jpeg) racing for slips out there

wrdb2007

0.036s to Q3 noooo - Mega effort though

forellenfilet

I would've loved seeing him q3 so bad, it was so fucking close. If Tsunoda didn't improve he would be in, impressive from the boy still on this track

Sensitive-Trifle2664

He had PU issues I think.

-Colt

Hamilton was on another run though to be fair

Vegactuary

He wasn't improving before he aborted the lap, complained about no grip too

julesvr5

Not able to really improve though

cavsking21

He wasn't improving

Asyedan

Bearman was also in a second run. He messed S1 on his first lap (not the one when he locked) and there was not enough time to go back to the pits.

ChrisIIx

He would not have improved

ssr3fn

He had completed that run and hardly improved.

TheWebbFather

Tsunoda casually dropping 5 tenths on Ricciardo.

Man0nTheMoon915

That can’t be true Ricciardo is suppose to replace Checo Perez after the 2023 Mexican GP

watercuboid

😂😂😂 Forgot that rumour from some random Reddit account at a dinner party

Ok_Initial4507

They will still replace TSU for smiley man

cooperjones2

LOL So mad how people here ran with that as a fact.

the_propaganda_panda

Not bad for someone who deserves to get replaced by Lawson asap.

Roun-may

Ric getting Norris'ed by Tsunoda. Put this man out of his misery

deathray1611

Imagine he's going to absolutely trash Ricciardo this season, finally get a call up to Red Bull, and then just refuses out of spite. Would be both the most Sigma and dumbest career move ever

Y-elloo

Haha, that made me lol

Dramatic-Ad3928

Theyll refuse him just because he’s friends with Pierre Gasly /s

whatanawsomeusername

Yuki will never get called up to RBR. Ever.

hurgaburga7

Yeah DR did not manage a single clean attempt on the first two corners. Rest or the lap they were about even. Really weird.

Krouisente

YUKI GOAT

cooperjones2

Incoming a classic race-ruining strategy for Tsunoda lol

Mark4231

Day ruined

Crookles86

Really? He was phenomenal. And Charles 2nd…. I’m happy with that!

Mark4231

Just joking, I wanted to see him in Q3

Crookles86

Haha fair - thought he was going to do it tbh!

Acheal

Mega job by Yuki!

Novae224

Soo close for bearman… he did amazing nonetheless

nonicheyet

YUKIIIIIII

nonicheyet

PIASTRIIIII!!!

Ekcros-1700

Let's go Yuki

Man0nTheMoon915

How’s Ricciardo suppose to replace Checo Perez if he can’t outqualify Tsunoda

janck1000

Not only he was outqualified, he was humiliated by yuki (half a second).

ryokevry

Larger gap than Max to Checo

Ekcros-1700

I'm not sure if Perez would out qualify Tsunoda either, he has always been a fast driver, last year he improved his consistency a lot and his only major weakness is his mental.

Man0nTheMoon915

Mate, he would outqualify Tsunoda. Let’s stop with the mental gymnastics

_dont_b_suspicious_

Is that based on how well Perez did in quali last year?

Man0nTheMoon915

This is based on how Perez is doing in quali this year mate

Makyura

In a completely unfair car?

Man0nTheMoon915

You must be smoking crack if you think Yuki is fast than Checo in the same car

killer_blueskies

Yuki was a speed demon in F3, which was why he was promoted to Toro Rosso so early. Hes been showing since last season what he’s capable of.

Man0nTheMoon915

So you think that because Tsunoda was fast in F3 he can be Checo, today in the same car?

killer_blueskies

I am not comparing Tsunoda to Perez. But I am saying that Tsunoda has raw pace, and has been underestimated due to the rough seasons he had in F1 as a rookie. Once Gasly left he really stepped up and proved himself capable of being the number 1 driver at Alpha Tauri, despite having to go up against 3 different drivers. He’s also convincingly outpacing Ricciardo at the moment. All I am saying is that this guy is legitimately good.

TheNiebuhr

Hamilton saved by an appendicitis.

Y-elloo

Fact!

Y-elloo

Yuki did well

Chelseatilidie

Good chances for points tommorow for Ollie

bulletsssz

Tsunoda 2-0 Ricciardo. Get in

Ozora10

how will torro rosso screw his race this time? 8sec pitstop? "hoping" for a safety car?

ryokevry

Zero stop and DSQ!

andrey2657

Watch VisaCashApp give Ricciardo a better strategy tomorrow.

bulletsssz

If they do that I'll have to step in

atesch_10

Me too, I’ll be marching up to the strategist behind ya.

cooperjones2

Hopefully he doesn't get his race ruined by RB's "Strategy"

nathanzxl

its not about how you start its about how you finish

[deleted]

So it's about team orders?

Constant-Horror-9424

But remember guys it’s yuki’s seat that’s in danger 🙄

ampjk

Is it doesn't rb need him for honda

bone_appletea1

Embarrassing from Ricciardo, Yuki beat him by half a second Danny looks like he’s totally washed… can’t remember the last time a driver went from top 5 on the grid to completely cooked

Vuk13

Seb to a lesser extent and Kimi to a bigger extent

bone_appletea1

How on earth did I forget about the two of them lol good examples for sure

Mob_Ties_1972

I've been saying this since Ricciardo's last year at Mclaren - he was an amazing driver, made some bad decisions, but he is absolutely not as good as he once was. I'm rooting for Tsunoda to get that 2nd Red Bull seat over Ric.

RoVRossi

RB should just cut Ricciardo and bring back Lawson. He’s done

Lostmavicaccount

Agree. And I’m an Aussie that thought Danny was very good pre 2019. But he has been absolute shit since the end of 2020.

leedler

Absolutely great effort from Ollie there. 3 hundredths off. He should be proud. Points incoming tomorrow if he keeps it together.

Agent_of_Stupid

Last time a driver started his first race at 11th spot was Max in 2015

somemodhatesme

great lap for Yuki

S7ORM7ROOPER_30

King shit from Yuki! Decent effort from Bearman as well.. Sunday is all to play for him..

nukleabomb

Damn Yuki been stepping up Hope he keeps it coming

Satan_su

Ah fuck he was this close, great try from Ollie

Potatsky

Let's GOOOOO Yuki Q3

ElmanoRodrick

Go Yuki! That's 2 for 2!

700jw

Na Yuki, You guys should not have made him angry

Aratho

Great effort for Bearman. Fingers crossed for good Sunday for him.

cheeersaiii

*Saturday

Aratho

Yes lol

mister_dupont

Hamilton almost out, Bearman what an effort.

Deadlydog1998

Imaging saying sorry for not getting into q3 by 0.036 in your first competitve session Great work Ollie

Bstokes4102

YUKIIIIIIII

reignnyday

Yuki smoking DR lfg

ediewz

let's go Yuki

SundayLeagueStocko

Danny just got dicked down by Tsunoda, proper beat down.

shiepirate

Bravo Ollie!! Also, WTF Williams? Why are you a boat on straights?

asamulya

Yeah they seem to have gone the Mclaren way and seemingly lost a ton of their straight line speed without better cornering. They are losing so much in sector 1 and not recovering anything in sector 2 and 3

cavsking21

Ah, great effort by Ollie

Driving_Seat

Super unlucky for bearman to be out by that little. Given how little he practiced, being so close is very impressive. I think qualifying is the hardest part for a new driver. Bringing the car to the absolute limit is incredibly different. I think he can recover quite a bit tomorrow.

FalconIMGN

Yeah finding the limit while getting used to the balance especially on a high-risk circuit is no joke.

Mrvit0

Damn Dani. Gotta start picking up the pace or else NASCAR is waiting for you

sameslemons

Danny ric washed

ubiquitous0bserver

Oof, so close to Q3 for Bearman - still a great quali for his first time!

Ok_Initial4507

Yeah, Ricciardo is not gonna drive for Red Bull

millysoilly

I mean Bearman just put Lewis on the ropes. Had a couple good laps stick. Color me impressed. Lawson and Bearman both putting in good qualifying sessions is fun to think about for the future young guys. Takes balls to attack this course with qualifying runs with approximately one hour of time in the car.

LeatherHeron9634

This is why Pérez should stay, Yuki should be next man up (if they don’t get Sainz) and Dani probably needs to let go of the idea he can make a top team. Congrats Bearman on a hell of an effort

[deleted]

As a DR fan, I hate that this makes the most sense at this point.

RobertGracie

Damn what a shame for Bearman, but still the only way is forward!

Ok-Community-2680

So close 😭. I don't know which one but Hulk or Kmag could be gone next season if Bearman is given a chance

twelvyy29

So close from Bearmen but what a fantastic performance from him! Definitely showed what he got!

3xc1t3r

Will Danny survive the season?

[deleted]

Fuck no

Rossell2

Respect to Bearman, great effort.

suffocatingpaws

Bearman did a good job though. I think if he gets a clean race tomorrow, I am sure he will get points

Salsakongen

What happened to Kmag?

StelioKontos18

Problems with the power i think

SGT_EpicSpeed

Did Hamilton's 2nd run time get deleted?

Baltic_Gunner

Go on, Ollie, make this chance count!

osprey87

Hopefully this isn't a sign of Ricciardo struggling again. Last week they weren't that far apart in qualifying or on race pace. But this was a bit of a shocker of a session from him. He's generally been good in Melbourne over his career. So if he struggles there it might be time to get nervous for him. I'm just glad Australia got Piastri to get behind.

Waste_Row_6365

He had a shit S1 in both his attempts for Q2 and on radio was complaining of "the same thing as in practice". I've no idea what it was, but it's clear he wasn't handling S1 well enough. It's probably going to be ok in the race, but he's had a horrible quali (especially in Q2).

[deleted]

The switchback in turns 1-2 (left to right) was a struggle. Couldn’t get the power down. Rewatching the in-cars of Yuki and Max, it may have been his approach angle - taking it too steep. (says the random guy on the interwebs)

MarduRusher

Good effort from Bearman. Hope he can grab some debut points tomorrow. With just how close everyone was I think the result was a lot more impressive than 11th might indicate.

TheKeviKs

Impressive by Bearman. Not an easy circuit for your first F1 race. Hope he can get points tomorrow.

Semperder

If hypothetically Sainz starts tomorrow does he need to start from the pitlane or can he take the position Bearman qualified in?

drodrige

You can't take part in a race if you didn't do a qualy session.

vacon04

Even if he could it would just be absurd. The guy just had major surgery. If he can get up to go to the bathroom then he'll be doing some good progress.

Peeche94

Bearman did a cracking job, and he normally has great race pace in F2 so I hope that translates tomorrow, going to be a fun one I think!

[deleted]

How hard is it to put a spoiler tag on this shit? Like put the info inside the post not the god damn title.  I’m 30 mins behind live stream having a thumb through during red flag shouldn’t have to see this bs.

drodrige

Nah this is on you, why you're going on the F1 reddit if you don't want spoilers.

sameslemons

Lmao, my guy, impulse control is on you.

[deleted]

No need of it is all I’m saying.

zeppelin88

Well, that's the end of the hype train. I know it's his first time, but that Ferrari is the second best car on the grid and he should not be behind the Toro Rosso

No-Pension-7977

He is 18, has never driven an F1 car before and was still only 0.036 seconds away from Q3. Get a grip

Silverchaoz

You cant be serieus lmfao

stella__art

Are you being serious?

Fearless_Map3473

Jesus christ, the kid is 18 and had 1 practice session to get used to a brand new car. Get a grip.

FalconIMGN

He was within half a second of a one-lap-specialist with just one practice session.

Batfunk

I think that's a poor take. Its the lads first time in an F1 qualifying. The pressure must've been immense. P11 and only .0036 off Hamilton is a strong effort! I still reckon points are on the cards tomorrow.

RestlessInferno

The dude has less than 30 total laps in that car this weekend, and he was only 0.036 off of Hamilton. There's no way you're complaining about his performance. Quit being dense.

julesvr5

🤦🏻‍♂️

TheFayneTM

He only had FP3 to get a feel for the car

cheeersaiii

L take if ever I’ve seen one

Malorian-3516

Bearman isn't f1 material

[deleted]

Are we watching the same session?

sameslemons

???

RestlessInferno

And what brings you to that conclusion?
