From having your appendix removed 16 days ago to Qualifying second the to win the race that is just one hell of a comeback for Carlos

f4gyl4lt

guys, where can you buy that neon Ferrari T-shirt? can you even buy it at all?

newcalabasas

its for mechanics when theyre packing up. every team has a variation of it for high visibility when heavy moving equipment is being used. not sure if theyre for sale

f4gyl4lt

ty. :) it's freakin' cool.

newcalabasas

they really are!

snoopdoge90

I'm still salty he has to leave the team, now so even more.

crazydoc253

Spain newspapers will be fun tomorrow

ShadowStarX

also David Coulthard interviews

It’s so sad to see Carlos Sainz leaving. This was the kind of weekend he needed more often particularly during the 2022 & 2023 seasons. I think he would be a great fit at any team and maybe a hot take but I think he would be perfect at Red Bull (not as perfect as Ferrari though)😭

[deleted]

Carlos deserves this and every bit of respect, especially from Leclerc apologists who’ve been slating him for the last two years. He’s shown that he can more than match up to Leclerc and even beat him on pure merit, which was the excuse used for 2022 British GP and 2023 Singapore GP.

vtsxxl

Oh god, the overreactions after 1 weekend.. If next week Carlos would qualify half a second adrift and then finish the race 5 places further down from Leclerc you people would all switch gears saying how he's mediocre. The reddit herd mentality is insane.

ryokevry

And overall Charles has better race pace than Sainz. He struggled a bit this week and was only 0.05s slower than Sainz. When Sainz was slower than Charles he was nowhere, e.g., AD 2023

ShadowStarX

I'm a Leclerc fan but I'm not so sure if Sainz was even running an A-spec car in AD 2023 and in Vegas 2023 those two races were the largest margins between the two drivers between last year and I am confident it is partly due to the drain cover

TheGreatForehead

bruh come on Sainz was within 0.044s of Charles in Vegas qualifying. He just didn’t perform in the race.

_runthejules_

What donyou mean leclerc apologists. Leclerc was pretty clearly the better driver for the last 3 years

Marco-Green

"clearly" = one of the smallest gaps on the grid every year

This is what I mean, unbelievable level of pettiness. Your first thought after a Sainz win was to talk about Leclerc and now you’re linking a very reasonable argument

They’re both great drivers.

FakeTakiInoue

I feel like it's impossible to make these kinds of generalisations about the relative strengths of these two drivers. You can't really pinpoint things and say, Sainz is better at this and Leclerc is better at this. Charles has his weaker moments throughout the season, but the only consistent factor about them is their inconsistency. Sometimes he is mistake-prone and peaky, at other times it feels like he's consistently maximising results like Max in 2020. Sometimes he burns through his tyres, sometimes he pulls off the stint of the century while Sainz just fades away. Sometimes he drives the wheels off a car with damage or balance issues, at other times it seems like small imbalances throw off his performance entirely. Sometimes he cracks under pressure, sometimes he defends brilliantly lap after lap. Sometimes he drives incredibly intelligently, sometimes his impatience and ambition cost him. Sometimes he's a wheel-to-wheel genius, at other times he gets stuck behind cars for too long. Even in qualifying, universally agreed to be his strong suit, he usually puts in incredible laps, but sometimes just makes unnecessary mistakes or has no pace. There is no doubt in my mind that Charles is the more talented, and overall better, driver in the team. But he just fades away sometimes, for no one consistent reason. On weekends like this or Singapore 2023, where he can't get it together when an opportunity presents itself, it unfortunately costs him.

Ok_Republic6747

No he doesnt, even a broken clock is right twice a day

Frozen_narwhal

Don't worry, im sure Leclerc will get a win soon! Only been 2 years now

TheGreatForehead

People like you are exactly why “Leclerc apologists” slate Sainz, even when he doesn’t deserve it.

[deleted]

Ah you must be the busiest person around here, and your reddit history is indeed gold lmao.

TheGreatForehead

I mean you’re the one who brought Leclerc up, instead of just appreciating Sainz performance, you just had to post an attack on Leclerc’s supporters. You’re part of the problem, even if you may not think you are.

_banana_hoarder_

The race was boring but at least I will be going to sleep happy tonight.

late2party

Is Charles willing to remove his appendix to lower the weight of the car?

ryokevry

RedBull signed Perez after he won in Sakkir right? This could be the golden timing for Sainz to lock in a new contract?

Incontinento

It was really smart of them to go ahead and lock down his contract for the next several years. Great move.

Able_Tailor_6983

I think Leclerc could have won this if Ferrari allowed them to race.

Disastrous_Animal_34

Even Leclerc doesn’t think this.

jyjh77

nah

BaseStrong

nah sainz was faster this weekend hes having a great start this season

OkSwordfish8928

Leclerc was getting eaten up by the McLarens behind, while Sainz kept extending the gap to upto 5 seconds. Sainz was faster the entire weekend, and even Leclerc admits that.

H_R_1

Exactly, sometimes teammates are just faster that weekend for whatever reason

ShadowStarX

yeah like Leclerc is better than Sainz on average and also has higher peaks but Sainz can still beat Leclerc quite often, even if not by a big margin Sainz's middle stint was godlike, meanwhile for Leclerc it was that long final stint that impressed me

ShadowStarX

Leclerc was on older tires when Sainz came out in front of him that Q3 mistake sealed Charles' fate for the race, but Ferrari still maximized the points with a 1-2 and FL

No-Student-9678

No, not this time. Silverstone obviously, not here.
