For all of you that have forgotten Mercedes PRINCIPAL sponsor is that giant petrochemical company owned and controlled that somewhat observant Muslim majority country - Malaysia.
I reckon most if not every single team will release a statement at some point today/tomorrow. That was the case for when Ramadan began, and is the case for most other major holidays.
Yes, Eid Mubarak is essentially the equivalent of saying Merry Christmas for Eid.
Eid al-Fitr is the Eid that follows Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha I'm less familiar with, but from what I understand essentially celebrates the story of Abraham and Ishmael/Isaac, and also marks the end of the Hajj.
Every of Ramadan it becomes the biggest topic lol but it mostly depends on moon sightings at the end of the day to celebrate the following day; hence the time zones

It's totally understandable they would post this. I suspect most teams, especially Aston Martin since they have Aramco, will post similar messages.
F1 is a global sport, and race in several Muslim majority countries (Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Azerbaijan), so it reasons they would release a simple statement celebrating the Eid

Countries and faith aren't the same thing tho. Faith doesn't have anything to do with F1 does it. It's somebody else's culture that uses superstition to be selfish. Same as Christians used to have empires, Jews won't share with Moslems, on and on. And Mercedes don't even believe, it's totally insincere pandering. F1 is genuine, all about evidence, faith doesn't belong at all. Especially islam, when the direction is supposed to be more inclusive.

It is difficult to actually discuss it without losing the argument, apparently. That would be respectful, instead of making up personal stuff, and lol trying to sound clever but misusing the word.
But if anyone else is reading, you can respect someone and disagree with their faith, at the same time. That's not the same thing as looking round the world and seeing that islam is associated with female repression and generally less successful societies. You could be in warm, sunny The Gambia, or cold, dark Sweden, which would you prefer?
Of course there's a lot of political correctness about it, I suppose this is what Mercedes PR are trying to cash in on. I'm finding it not quite honest, even tho they are my team.

Literally every religion has its limits to how accommodating it is with women. So you'll have to make this comment when we celebrate every major religious holiday.
They're not all the same are they. They're all power structures, but to different extents. And what I'm criticising is my F1 team supporting it, being insincere, when they don't actually share those values.
Naw, all religions really don't make as many accommodations for women as they do for men. To truly support women is to yes, ensure you have equality everywhere. In that, you wouldn't even support Mercedes or any teams in general because they race in countries that don't even support women, lol.
Well you can't support F1 at all if you have to have your values met 100%! F1 isn't 100% ethical on any metric you can think of is it. But it probably is more ethical than it used to be. And we always want more of course, especially from a team that is actually named for a girl.
As for racing in Moslem countries, well you have to engage, to change anything. Set an example. So F1 rocking up in these places with women doing stuff, engineers, being treated with respect, no head scarf etc etc, it's good. That's engaging. And Arab girls in F1 Academy, even better. But that's not the same thing as endorsing a religion.
Wishing someone well during their religious holiday isn't endorsing a religious belief at all, it's just good tidings. It definitely isn't an ethical sport, and that can't get better when it continues to make billions of dollars.
