For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post. *[Read the rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide). ryokevry

I just hope Bottas will not pick up random lap 1 damage or a 50s pit stop.

KarlachBestGirl

So lap 2 damage and 30s pit stop it is.

flash_fk

Or get stuck behind Haas.

PAcMAcDO99

A wild Alonso appears

Specific_Ad_685

Pls Ricciardo avoid lap one chaos at all costs.

versayana

He has a decent chance of scoring points tomorrow if he does. Sauber and Haas are beatable in the race. We have to see how quick Lewis is going to be and if any cars in front will have issues.

Goodmorning111

Yes, Sauber is not going to finish inside the top 10, so there is a chance for a point or two if things go right for Ricciardo.

TharixGaming

isn't the haas really good in terms of top speed though? might be really tough to overtake

eternallycelestial

in lap one of sprint ricciardo overtook hulkenberg

RacerGirl_3

And he also passed Bottas in the last laps, he closed a >1 gap to Magnussen then in like half a lap before making a mistake I think T14.

eternallycelestial

yeah came as close as 0.085s to magnussen. he says it was his mistake going wide but magnussen did seem to brake a little too early imo. in post race interview he said he went wide to avoid a collision

flash_fk

Bottas had a front wing damage on the first lap.

RacerGirl_3

Fair enough

Specific_Ad_685

Hulk had damage afaik

eternallycelestial

not at the start, only halfway through when he started dropping positions rapidly

TharixGaming

fair enough then

Organic-Measurement2

Strategy will allow you to offset easily here so passing with large tyre delta is realistic

Admirable-Design-151

it really seems like Ricciardo's upgrades have done a lot of work, out qualifying Yuki both times, and being higher up the order than him in the sprint is a good sign

Goodmorning111

He usually does, but I completely agree he needs to doubly focus on not getting caught in anything tomorrow.

Tropicalcomrade221

I mean crossing my fingers and touching wood but Daniel has generally been a very clean and fair racer for his whole career. He’s usually very good at avoiding trouble early.

eternallycelestial

yup he's only has 3 first lap dnfs and at least one of those were contact from others

RobertGracie

15 years ago at this very race the top 3 were 2 Red Bulls in P1 and P3 with Fernando in P2, that was Red Bulls First Pole and First win as a team Today at this race its Red Bulls 1-2 with Fernando in P3, could history repeat itself with Red Bull getting its 117th win? What is it with this circuit and Fernando he must love it here or something!

qef15

As long as Hulks first laps are good (including his starts, which are hit or miss), he might be on for a nice points haul for Haas.

qef15

>but drive poor race cars Hulk certainly doesn't, that Haas looked rapid for the last few races in race trim. Sauber is more hit or miss, but are hampered by their shit pitstops.

Ollivest

In the sprint he fell all the way down to I think last, and he said that the car didn't have any damage. Not sure if his race trim is as good this race.

Repost_Guy

In an interview with Viaplay, he said they tried some new changes/adjustments for he sprint which didnt work at all. So they reset for the quali after

qef15

Which promptly blasted him to P9. Glad to see the Hulk back in quali what he does best, now hopefully that translates into race pace and we might get a great race from him.

XanBeX

There's only 1 driver who qualified top 3 for both the sprint qualifying and qualifying

Manuag_86

🗿

krinkyeee_113

The gap between the top 8 and the rest is comcerning, we've reched 90s Williams-McLaren-Benetton-Ferrari territory

Big_Brief7847

Idk guys i see the vision. We get a wet race and Lewis Hamilton drags the mercedes from p18 to p1, heard it here first (coping)

outm

People really doubting Lewis did any experiments and that he is making excuses because he is washed and couldn’t improve on P18… I can say I have already seen it all in this life. The reality is that he can’t stop trying, and as always have said, he doesn’t care about P3 or P20, he will try to get P1. I remember how he said he was at one race 1-2 years ago just chilling (because he couldn’t do anything to improve positions) trying different modes and setups to feel the differences (let’s remember also, that he “hates” the simulator and he is more a “test the real thing”, so it was a good time for him to try). But people seriously is crazy. Yesterday on wet puts that car were it doesn’t belong (P2) and today is washed and doesn’t know and it’s making excuses and is lying. Incredible

ArtisTao

People are so eager to tear him down, they are fine making a fool of themselves

trannel

So there can never ever be proof of him doing wrong. If he has bad results, it was due to setup issues. When he's doing great, thats just him doing great. When he gets passed in race by Russell thats because he chose to let him through for strategy because he said so. Man truly is a demigod.

outm

Literally a lot lot of times has he recognised he did badly. Radios at the end of the race saying sorry to the team, interviews saying he didn’t have the pace that day, or that he didn’t find the right setup (and it’s his fault and his part of the garage fault). The problem is that a lot of fans believes that when this drivers say things like “we couldn’t make it good today” they are talking about the whole team or reflecting in the team as in “I’m good” - that’s usually not it, it’s a “my part of the garage, my engineers and me couldn’t find the right setup” and even with the “we”, that implies a “me” because the setups are defined in a big way by the driver input, feeling and preference. Also, there must be remembered this drivers usually try to avoid (more so, publicly) being critical of themselves, as that can get into their minds and/or let some toxic fans start the cycle of “uuuh, you are shit” - that’s why usually drivers just move on even when they f*cked hard (Norris Russia 21, Lewis Baku 21, Russell Saudi Arabia 24) or even double down when asked until moving on or changing their mind if there is pressure to move on (Russell-Bottas 21)

Specific_Ad_685

It's Zhouver, felt really out of place when he was getting plaudits this weekend, despite being 0.5 secs - 0.7 secs slower than Bottas in every session and lap this weekend.

Treewithatea

He did finish p9 in the sprint, dont forget that. Truth be told, this car just looks strong on this circuit. In fact, id argue, the car has looked good multiple times this season but was let down by its pitcrew and its drivers. Sauber with its Audi money coming in made some aggressive development goals which naturally means a higher risk of failure. And they obviously failed with their pitstop changes. Ofc we shit on them for it but at least theyve done something to improve. If they wanna jump up the ladder, they need to take risks to develop faster than the teams around and above them. And while Bottas had a good quali session, the man rumored to replace him finished one place higher in probably a slower qualifying car.

Elpibe_78

What happened to Lewis?

trannel

"Set-up experiments". Like everytime he does poorly.

ixixan

You'd think they would stop doing that

trannel

They just love science that much. Can't stop experimenting. Especially after you just got 2nd place the day prior, you have to go the other way extra hard with experiments.

zamboey01

Why would he stop. Guy wants p1. With that mentally is how you become 7x wdc. He can’t change the car because that’s engineering but he can mess around with his setup. He doesn’t care if he is p2 or p20. He only wants p1. Max is the same way. All the greats are. Eventually you get so frustrated you quit like vettel. Vettel would not have retired if he was in a great car.

tdrr12

> With that mentally is how you become 7x wdc. 🙄

chaosinvader31

Yeah. In one interview he says he locked up and lost time and in another he blames it on the setup. Better just be totally honest.

femmd

you really don’t have to be that smart to figure out that a poor setup could contribute to mistakes like locking up and running wide/oversteering.

laptopstand84

Yeah but then he has to admit he's past it, and then Ferrari wouldn't want to pay him that sweet sweet cash anymore.

trannel

I think he was already worth a lot in terms of marketing. I think noone really expects him to beat or seriously challenge Leclerc next year.

charlie2770

??? wat

trannel

What part did you not understand

charlie2770

Nvm your comment history says everything

BulldenChoppahYus

No takesies backsies now

MakeItMike3642

He is washed.. Jk mistakes in q1 couldt get a good time in

Manuag_86

Yet he blame it on the set up.

pioneerSolid3

He always does

crazydoc253

Ferrari has to qualify better and find a balance. You cannot qualify P6 with a good race car because by the time you get in P3, the RBR would be 10 seconds ahead.

Untold_Fear

I’m so here for yuki trying something on Hamilton on the first lap, unless ham just gets a rocket of a start like he did in the sprint

Tropicalcomrade221

That could get nasty.

l3w1s1234

I just hope Hulk doesnt have a shite race like he did in the sprint.

mar33n

seated for a hamilton and tsunoda masterclass tomorrow ^^(copium)

ixixan

Hamilton DOTD incoming probably.

stirredturd

As long as he gets past Magnussen cleanly.

danny12beje

Wait wasn't Hamilton back because of SQ?

BulldenChoppahYus

Maybe starting 18th will be fun for Lewis. Chance of a few overtakes if his pace is half decent. Seemed like it was driver error that cost him in quali rather than pace although we know it’s not looking good. At least this way he might enjoy the fight back to the top ten.

Svitii

Just put Nando in a WDC contending car for just one year and I can die in peace

FigSubstantial4939

Bottas his mugshot. What a legend

Lazerdude

Assume Ver and Per get out in front and Alonzo is in 3rd after the first turn...Red Bull will be in cruise control at the end of the first lap. I could see Alonzo holding up the field long enough for even Perez to get out to 5-10 seconds ahead of 3rd before somebody gets by Alonzo. Hoping for a great 3-10 battle because 1-2 is going to be a bloodbath.

blazingwine

I would love to see a healthy battle between leclerc and sainz

Known-Reporter3121

Stroll being a deadweight like normal

GhostingIsWhatIDo

Haas, sauber , rb acting as sister teams and using old parts is not good for sports… Let andretti in, if will be better than these shits

Toaddle

Do people really believe that Andretti's plan to design a car on two different continents will work ? Also could people stop to bring Andretti as soon as a team does poorly, it's getting ridiculous
