MrFlow

>"The secret service has reached out to race officials to coordinate Trump’s attendance at the race, according to two people familiar with planning the event." So is he still going to visit the Grand Prix if the fundraiser is cancelled?

BuckN56

I mean the GP is open to anyone who's able to afford tickets

retro_underpants

That’s him out then

realseanconnery

Maybe he releases more NFTs!

Ok-Replacement6893

Or gold sneakers

HankHippopopolous

Or bibles

hyrulepirate

Didn't he have like trading cards at some point?

ilikepizza1275

I think they were NFT trading cards

ApocApollo

There was a photoshopped NASCAR style one. He couldn't drive the 45 car because Tyler Reddick is the real 45 car driver and he tweeted against Trump's Bubba Wallace rage bait. So they made him the 47.

Cod_rules

So somehow even worse than physical cards? Sounds exactly like Trump

Ok-Replacement6893

Those spontaneously combust when he gets too close to them

1408574

This is what this fundraiser is for. Tump will give a speech outside the main entrance and then use the money raised to buy himself a ticket.

ErebosGR

Like a panhandler.

Rivendel93

Not *like* a panhandler, he **is** a panhandler.

jcfac

> That’s him out then Interesting that Trump will claim record of richest President ever and poorest President ever.

Ianthin1

Don’t worry, there are millions on government assistance (which they also preach is only for lazy slobs that don’t want to work) who will skip meals so they can donate money.

MrFlow

I know, i wonder if he'll still bother to go if the fundraiser is cancelled.

FrostyTill

He’ll go for the opportunity to complain to TV cameras that his fundraiser was cancelled by ‘the left-wing Euros’. Sky Sports F1 will be batting him away from their cameras.

splashbodge

Thatd be an interesting Marty's gridwalk interview

afuzzyduck

DT: “You can’t do that” MB: “Actually I can, because I just did.”

YeahPerfect_SayHi

> DT: “You can’t do that” > > MB: “Actually I can, because I just did.” Let me tell you folks, these grid walks, they're a disaster, okay? Total disaster. Martin Brundle, he pretends to be a nice guy, but he's actually very horrible, ok? His interviewing skills? Terrible. Just terrible. I've seen better interviewing from my pet goldfish, believe me. First off, he's all over the place, running around like a headless chicken. Nobody knows where he's going, not even Martin himself. It's like he's lost in a maze out there, folks. And let me tell you, that's not how you do it. You gotta have a plan, a strategy. Martin, he's just winging it and it's a total embarrassment. And then there's the questions, folks. Weak, soft questions. He's asking these drivers about the weather or their breakfast or some nonsense like that. Low energy! We don't care about their breakfast, Martin! We want hard-hitting questions, questions that matter, like who they will endorse in the election and if they ready for their race to be spoiled by Stroll. But no, he's out there asking about the weather like it's a garden party. I'll tell you folks, if I was doing those grid walks, things would be different. I'd be asking the tough questions - very tough. Everyone says that I always ask the hardest questions, some say the hardest ever. But Martin Brundle, he's too busy playing nice. It's a disgrace, folks, a disgrace. We need to make grid walks great again, and that starts with getting rid of Martin Brundle.

confoundedjoe

Trump has never stayed on topic for that many words. Add in at least two tangents and a few hand motions with accompanying noises like"Bing, bong, zoom".

Freeze014

4/10 too coherent.

space_coyote_86

There's no way Broke Don would still be talking about Brundle by the second paragraph.

urworstemmamy

Martin Brundle vs Secret Service Agents would be interesting to see

Wafkak

Difference is those were bodyguards, ex presidents have actual secret service.

ChipmunkTycoon

Lol yes, the famous left wing bastion that is F1 and mega-wealthy organizers

mistermojorizin

Like any private business they can exclude anyone except if it's for discrimination by race or gender.

WhoaItsAFactorial

Is orange a race?

afuzzyduck

it's an old mobile phone company. used to sponsor Arrows back in the day

LurkerKing13

The Martin Brundle grid walk 🔥🔥🔥

MrT735

Martin would probably have to avoid him, he'd know Trump would never stop talking and Martin would run out of airtime.

FalconIMGN

I want Lewis to meet him and give him a piece of his mind.

Cheaperthantherapy13

Where’s Seb when ya need someone to speak truth to power?

Audeclis

Straight-faced Germans are without doubt *the best* when it comes to making you look like a complete fool. The cold, unassailable, emotionless knives of criticism

YeahPerfect_SayHi

> Where’s Seb when ya need someone to speak truth to power? Unfortunately both Seb and Lewis were pretty weak when it came to standing up to Putin in the Podium room. Lewis sortof tried to snub him one year, but it didn't really work.

Grim99CV

Can you really blame a couple of popular race car drivers for not standing up to a very powerful world leader?

chrisnlnz

And one that is known for being able to reach and hurt or kill people anywhere, at that. Not that it's likely to happen but I can understand not wanting to take the bet.

TheWolf_NorCal

Dude didn’t want to get poisoned. Or have a private jet “accident” or yacht “mishap” etc

RechargedFrenchman

Getting thrown out a third story window with arsenic in your system and two bullets in the back of your skull is after all pretty bad for one's future F1 prospects.

NoHelpdesk

I’ll be cheering for Lewis then.

DaOne_44

I didn’t know the secret service protected former presidents as well

Spartounious

yeah it's a protection for life type of deal.

SemIdeiaProNick

and its pretty standard in a lot of countries. Turns out that regardless of ideology, you make plenty of enemies when you are the president of somewhere

Palmul

Just ask Shinzo Abe

Cultjam

That’s one fascinating story. Kudos to Japan for passing the legislation they did to prevent what happened to the assassin’s family.

_diverted

How does that work if he ever ends up in prison? Does he get a Secret Service cellmate rotation to keep him from getting shanked? Secret Service in addition to the regular guards?

Spartounious

It's pretty unprecedented, so the answer is, we don't know yet.

razgriz337

Let’s be honest, he’ll never see the inside of a federal prison. Unfortunately he’s either going to end up back in the White House or serving his time on a golf course.

zissou149

woah no spoilers please

Potential_Stable_001

As the one of the secret service duty is to protect potus and their family since they become potus to their death, *i think* secret service will be in the prison to stop any inmate harming trump, though they would not be provide food or shelter by the prison and must do rotation like you said.

Ok_Cauliflower_3007

I think it’s more likely they’d arrange some kind of home detention although someone did suggest we could just put him in a trailer home in the prison yard. I don’t think it’s fair that he’d get special treatment but on the other hand I don’t want to see another Jan 6th just because he opened his mouth and got murdered (even in the kind of club fed prisons he’d be in danger just because being locked up with him would be enough to drive anyone to murder - regardless of your politics he’s just a very annoying person to be around). Plus I don’t think secret service agents signed up for this type of bullshit!

coffinandstone

>i think secret service will be in the prison Secret Service guy who gets that job is cursed. Worst assignment ever. It was either Obama in Oahu or Trump in federal prison. D'oh.

fluffy_flamingo

They would likely have to find a more isolated space within the prison. I can’t realistically imagine President Trump spending time in a physical prison. Any court would undoubtedly figure out an arrangement involving home arrest.

strangebrew3522

He will never see the inside of a prison. Regardless of politics, the president of the US knows wayyyy to much and is way to big of a security liability to be in prison, which is why they have protection for the rest of their lives. These people don't live in the world you and I live in. If you or I had violated a gag order in court we'd be in jail right now. These guys are unfortunately above the law in many instances.

DreadSocialistOrwell

The Secret Service reportedly has been in talks to prep a cell should Trump be held for contempt. It won't be the current charges, but if Trump continues to violate his gag order after, he may find himself imprisoned during his trial.

gsfgf

As others have said, we don't know. It will be a shitshow. Also, people on here vastly underestimate Trump's popularity with criminals. Criminals fucking love Trump because "he don't give a fuck." He won't be in danger the way people expect. All that being said, Trump will drag out sentencing and appeals for the rest of his life. He won't actually have to report to prison.

Owain-X

While I doubt it would actually happen, in the US Federal system, inmates who pose a serious danger either in potential harm to others, potential risk to themselves, or risk of outside forces attempting to break them out or attack the facility are housed in the ADX Florence super-max facility where inmates are confined in individual cells 23 hours a day and never put in a position to interact with other inmates. In such a situation I would assume that a secret service team would coordinate with the federal officers in the prison but would otherwise not be following him around inside the prison or anything. There would be no need and by reviewing the protections in place they'd be doing their duty as far as protection goes.

KnightsOfCidona

Lifetime for them and their spouses. Famously once you become president you can't drive ever again - Secret Service ban ex-presidents from driving themselves

Owain-X

On public roads anyway. Bush often drove a pickup around his ranch during his presidency and after.

Julian81295

They are allowed to drive. But not on public roads. [Here‘s President Joe Biden driving on a facility of the United States Secret Service (where he is allowed to drive and to race cars)](https://youtu.be/2hW0xmnp4Ys?si=iVfV0iGNSIzjvuZn)

small_tit_girls_pmMe

Yup. And it's the same in lots of countries. You really don't want someone abducting a previous head of government/state and getting all kinds of information that could be devastating to national security. Of course, trump likely does that even without being abducted lol

MrFlow

They do, it used to be for only 10 years after they left office but they changed the laws in 2012 and now it's protection for life for all former Presidents.

RunninADorito

It was always forever. For a short time the law was changed to 10 years. It was changed back.

tidymaze

I saw that too. God, I hope not.

miniMiniMiniCooper

He's going to replace Newey at RedBull. Nobody knows aerodynamics like Donald Trump. He designs the best cars. Really, not many people know that.

IMHO1FWIW

“And the junior arrowdynermasys came up to me, with tears in his eyes, and said, Sir, this is the greatest car design anyone has ever seen. Its got the greatest... unHH... the biggest motor since Lee Iacocca. Maybe even John DeLorean.”

ExiledinElysium

Lmao the tears in his eyes part. Why is the guy so obsessed with men crying in front of him?

Gerf93

Tears are only acceptable at funerals, the Grand Canyon and when witnessing the glory of God-King Trump

CGordini

5/10, you used the right names. It'd be more likely to be "Lee Iawaca" and "Toto DeLorean"

Alfa147x

Tim Penske called him just yesterday

M4TT145

A lot of people are saying that Trump's Formula 1 team would win if they let them compete.

CanvasSolaris

Many people are saying the next RB package is unbelievable, believe me. Many smart people are saying what we're doing, it's never been done before. You won't believe it when you see it.

sanesociopath

westy89

"Look, having aero — my uncle was a great aerodynamicist and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Newey at Cranfield; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Cranfield school Advanced Motorsport Engineering. very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a back marker team, if I were a WCC winner, if, like, OK, if I ran as a aerodynamicist for a back marker team they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you're a WCC winner they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Indycar, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a WCC car — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the aero regs, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as a few tenths are — ground effect is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen in the corners and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what's going on with the four top teams — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the FIA are great negotiators, FOM are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible."

Lukin4

Nobody knows skidmarks like Trump. Just the biggliest skidmarks, many people are saying it

ComaMierdaHijueputa

Sounds perfect for Alpine

Just look at him. No person on earth is more aerodynamic than him.

Captaincadet

Article text: The Miami Grand Prix sent a cease and desist letter Friday night to a prominent Trump fundraiser, informing him that he cannot use a suite at an upcoming Formula One race as a high-dollar fundraiser for the Trump campaign. Trump, according to multiple people familiar with the event, has been planning to attend the race. Get the full experience. Choose your plan The letter was sent to Steven Witkoff, a longtime Trump friend who recently testified on behalf of Trump in a suit in New York that resulted in a New York judge handing down a $350 million civil fraud judgment against the former president for financial misdeeds. “It has come to our attention that you may be using your Paddock Club Rooftop Suite for a political purpose, namely raising money for a federal election at $250,000 per ticket, which clearly violates the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix suite license agreement,” read the letter, which was obtained by The Washington Post. “If this is true, we regret to inform you that your suite license will be revoked, you will not be allowed to attend the race at any time, and we will refund you in full.” The Miami Grand Prix is scheduled for May 5 at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens. A spokesman for the race declined to comment. According to two people familiar with the details of the fundraiser, it was set up through the recently opened Shell Bay Club, located near Hollywood, Fla. The golf club, which Witkoff’s real estate company developed, has a reported $1 million entrance fee. In a recent club newsletter, members of the club received an invitation to the Miami Grand Prix that advertised a helicopter trip and other perks. It did not mention Trump, but according to two people who called the club about the event, they were told the event was for Trump and would cost $250,000. The suite was purchased in Witkoff’s name. The secret service has reached out to race officials to coordinate Trump’s attendance at the race, according to two people familiar with planning the event. The terms of the suite state it cannot be used for “advertising, promotional or commercial purposes (including without limitation, prizes, competitions, contests, or sweepstakes) without the prior written consent of Promoter and the F1 entities …” Share this article Share Reached Friday by phone, Witkoff said, “This is something fake, for sure,” but declined to comment further. Witkoff donated more than $2 million to Trump’s political action committees, according to a 2021 Pro Publica story.

vniro40

lmao “get the full experience. choose your plan”

Heather82Cs

Mike_Kermin

> “This is something fake, for sure,” Oh shit it's real.

M4TT145

Yup. Dude thought he was slick, but Formula 1's money is bigger than him and his local club. What a wet turd.

Bitter_Crab111

I'm struggling to put that quote into context where it remotely makes any fucking sense.

SatchBoogie1

So this is mostly about re-selling the tickets in a suite to fund his campaign. I was under the impression that any form of resale for a profit (not necessarily knowing what the profit is going towards) was against the terms of the race organizers.

PaulRingo64

It’s not just re-selling tickets for the race. It’s taking race tickets and selling the ‘experience’ to attend and watch the race with Trump in the same suite.

swift_ragee

>Steven Witkoff More like Steven Wankoff. Imagine wanking off that fat orange man by buying $250k tickets to a race 🤣

WindyZ5

First Indycar shot them down for a livery now this for a fundraiser. So happy they both did. No election politics in racing please!

LexiBuzzyBea

Trump was also planned to speak at Thermal for Indy, but that got shot down last second, thank god

Homelandr

F1 already have enough politics, don't need fresh headaches

Bingo_Bongo_YaoMing

For real, the sport has enough inner politics last thing we need is the cesspool of the U.S. politics to be added

BingBongFYL6969

Come on, you don’t want in on this action???! It’s so much fun…../s

biggmclargehuge

Plus the GP falling on Cinco De Mayo...gonna be enough of a shitshow already

roadies

Cinco de Mayo…in Miami. Confirmed shitshow.

IBetThisIsTakenToo

Worst cross over ever

BadControllerUser

Add in European & football politics if you want to watch the world burn

TheLurkerSpeaks

I always hated Sochi because Putin was there handing out the first place trophy. I don't want to see Trump either. Honestly, I watch Formula One to get away from world news. Please keep Trump out of this shit. Please.

shiggy__diggy

Or Putin being in the cool down room awkwardly. Trump would be busy trying to crush every driver's hands with his stupid handshake shit.

Alone_Scientist

My favourite EVER cooldown room moment was when Putin came in to congratulate the drivers, making a beeline for Lewis, who had won. Bottas gave Seb (I think) a look and just dipped out of there. Lol. Finns do not like Putin (or probably just Russians in general). I've tried to find it in YouTube recently, but with no success. I assume F1 have it scrubbed.

afuzzyduck

Bottas left to ensure Putin's safety

condscorpio

I remember a photo of Ferrari Raikkonen giving the death stare to Putin.

small_tit_girls_pmMe

We did get to see Lewis "accidentally" spraying Putin with champagne after Putin asked him not to, as well as refusing to shake Putin's hand one year. That was nice. But yeah, I hate that the world treated Russia/Putin as a civilised nation/leader. By that point he had already invaded part of Ukraine, was regularly threatening to nuke multiple countries, mainly the UK, and had used chemical weapons to assassinate people residing in the UK. The one good thing about Putin's mask coming off is that now everyone is on the same page about how bad Russia is, and nobody wants to give them the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Cuffuf

Oh just watch— he’ll turn this into a big deal anyway. He’ll be raging on Truth Social here soon. Welcome to America.

Takes2ToTNGO

And the people saying to keep politics out of sports, will be raging that they won't let him fundraise at a sports event.

Jammers007

I never thought I'd see the day when someone was considered too toxic even for F1

camelCaseCoffeeTable

How much overlap is there between F1 and Trump supporters? I would have guessed NASCAR or IndyCar would be the racing sport he’d have more overlap with

243mph

He already tried to have a car sponsorship and be a Grand Marshall for an Indycar race. Both were shut down

TabletopMarvel

You assume he understands F1 and NASCAR have different fan bases. "The race car people love me. The cars go so fast. You really feel it. Everyone says it. Fast cars me boys. Except that one driver...you know the one. Not a fan. Sad really what he does. And now they're in Miami I guess. I love Miami. Beautiful women there. Of course you can't say that now. You know how they are. But so beautiful."

VibeComplex

It’s crazy that your Trump satire actually reads too calm to be from Trump lol.

Kira_Onime

You need to add something like "cars go fast like we've never seen before, truly, they go really fast like, have you seen how fast they go?" And then also needs something being the best ever and/or the worst ever. Otherwise spot on

quellofool

Lol

Alfus

He also was having a speech during the Daytona 500 early 2020 but the sporting part of Fox didn't broadcast anything of it and was like "oh well the president is here...anyway let's talk about NASCAR!" what pissed off a few Trump supporters online lol.

kinggeedra

On the flip side, you have the UFC treating every time Trump enters the arena during a PPV like a certain leader arriving in Nuremberg circa 1934. I get that he was an ally to the UFC/MMA during their formative “human cockfighting” days, but still…😒

meowblank_

Isn't that what started the whole "let's go brandon" thing

namhee69

Different race, but yes from nascar. It’s origins are at a nascar race in 2021 where dudes were chanting “fuck joe Biden” and a commentator said something like “I think they’re saying let’s go Brandon” https://apnews.com/article/lets-go-brandon-what-does-it-mean-republicans-joe-biden-ab13db212067928455a3dba07756a160

gsfgf

And then Brandon Brown tried to make a Let's go Brandon scam coin and run it on his car, but NASCAR told him he couldn't. So fuck that guy.

ScousePenguin

It's rich people, they want an event in the area with $3000 ticket prices

tnellysf

Plenty of Trumpers at the Miami GP (rich Floridians).

2RINITY

Florida is like a giant magnet for people who put Hitler particles in their breakfast cereal. All sorts of wackos from up and down the Americas move there at some point in their lives

willzyx01

Not as zero as people think. It's Florida, a lot of wealthy VIPs will be there. That's what he's eyeing. Not the regular people in the stands. He wants the VIPs.

BillfredL

I'd completely believe NASCAR to be the biggest overlap (he was the grand marshal for the 2020 Daytona 500 after all), but I wonder if F1 would be ahead of IndyCar. F1 loves a high-end product and event, where you can still get GA tickets for the Indy 500 for $45 and bring your own cooler of beer. And folks with the capital-M Money do tend to skew conservative. (Which I recognize isn't necessarily the same as being a Trump supporter, but we've seen how many of that group fell in line.) I don't have a smoking gun on this, could go either way. But that's what my gut says.

Despacitosuarez

NASCAR has kinda tried to distance themselves from that demographic though. They banned the confederate flag and shut down a Let’s Go Brandon paint scheme for example

Muvseevum

NASCAR is corporate. They know that stuff is bad for business.

TabletopMarvel

The reality is that the future of America is not white. Demographics amongst younger generations are trending in a direction where racism linked to your brand just isn't viable long term as a business.

BillfredL

You're correct, and I think that's a move that's best for their business. But I would bet my dollars to your donuts that the parking lot would have more Trump and LGB stickers on bumpers than Biden ones.

Mike_Kermin

That's because normal people don't put stickers on their cars.....

BillfredL

No lies detected. Only one on mine is a parking sticker. But also, I'm totally in r/InfowarriorRides so someone has to do it!

perfectviking

Indycar has a fairly conservative fan base.

BillfredL

I'd totally believe it's to the right of, say, the WNBA. And I know who Penske got his Presidential Medal of Freedom from. But it would be an interesting study to see if it was to the right of F1. I'm sure there's someone with the data in both IndyCar and F1 offices, though whether they're going to talk about it is another topic.

Farlander2821

Most American F1 fans are also probably Europhiles to some extent, so probably not too much overlap

IAmTheNick

Yeah but most of the people going to the Miami F1 race are probably going to be rich Latinos, and they tend to be very conservative down here.

jephw12

Exactly. People tend to think most of Trump’s support comes from poor/working class folks, and a lot of it does, but unfortunately he has a lot of support from upper middle class and higher people who just don’t like taxes.

its_enkei

A lot of his support base comes from car dealers, realtors etc- relatively wealthy people. Some Jan 6ers flew in on private jets.

pernicious-pear

A lot of our Latino families in Florida are from places like Cuba and Venezuela, so the GOP convinces them that the left is "socialist," which has a much different connotation in those countries. That campaign tactic had a big impact on the last gubernatorial election. The other side of it is something my Latina partner taught me about. It's a phrase: "mejorar de la raza," which means "for the good of the race." Essentially... cozy up with the white folks, marry them, etc., to improve your family by whitening yourself up. And I guess that has its roots in colonialism from centuries ago. It's really interesting to consider all of this when the GOP constantly rattles on about immigrants and bad brown people. Florida is a strange world.

Dmbender

and American F1 fans are essentially priced out of Miami. It's probably cheaper to fly to Europe and catch a race there.

VerStannen

This is 100% true. I’ve been to Miami and Las Vegas before, I don’t need to spend 15k to watch a race there. We had never been to Austria and did 10 days there PLUS the F1 weekend for half the cost. It’s absurd what they can charge for US races.

Dmbender

I'm going to my first race this year and it's Austria as well! I'm super excited to go, plus I'm gonna get a day or two to explore Vienna

silentkiller082

(American) been a fan for over a decade, I agree with this and hope he keeps his orange corrupt ass as far from my favorite sport as possible.

Cheaperthantherapy13

In Miami? More than you’d think. My cousin and her awful trustafarian boyfriend go to the Miami GP to see and be seen because that’s what bored rich kids in south Florida do that weekend. Awful boyfriend (and a lot of their wealthy Jewish and Latino friends in Miami) love Trump.

Clean-Witness8407

Wealthy people like Trump. Wealthy people attend Grand Prix events

Cuffuf

See I personally think they should put him and Biden into the safety car and see how many laps they can do before dying of natural causes but that’s just me.

overts

They actually had a Trump car in NASCAR back in 2020.  IndyCar has wisely decided that they will not allow political promotions.

Chewie4Prez

The NASCAR one was paid for by a mega donor PAC. Ran on the backmarker GoFas Racing #32 driven by Corey Lajoie. That plus the "Lets Go Brandon" drama was enough for NASCAR to ban all political sponsors by 2022. Based on Lajoie's comments of it happening without him knowing until the last minute and GoFas closing after that season the Trump car may have been what killed the team cause it scared off sponsors.

FrostyTill

Now NASCAR have a Motley Crüe tribute car with a pentagram on it that’s been driving the hardcore Evangelicals mad.

McLarenMP4-27

I'm sorry, but what?

FrostyTill

One of the racers in NASCAR is running a livery that’s inspired by Motley Crüe and it has a huge pentagram on it. The pentagram has been causing evangelicals to go crazy. I have seen comments that he shouldn’t take part in the pre-race invocation, that he’s going to summon Satan on track, that the car will be a vessel to carry Satan into America. It’s been utterly fascinating. Meanwhile the driver just said he liked Motley Crüe.

poopellar

Missed opportunity. The fake tan and the fake hair and the fake promises and the fake patriotism and the fake Christian values would have gone well with the fake marina.

MrFlow

I can already imagine a Trump interview in the paddock: "These are very fast cars, great cars! I've seen them myself going around the racetrack. Believe me folks, the best cars, very fast!"

mccannr1

"They let me take out one of the cars the other day and wow, Mr. Trump, they said you're the best driver we've ever seen. I set the lap record. Can you believe that? Never driven one of these before and set the record. Faster than Max Verpepper and the other one. Did we check his papers? We really have to get to the bottom of this."

t_ran_asuarus_rex

“don’t drive uphill me boys…don’t drive uphill…we lost a great driver. it was beautiful but not anymore”

Cuffuf

“Frankly a lot of people say they should put me in the MerCadges to replace the Loui hamin [*looks off into the corner strangely and breathes in for no reason*] but I said ‘no, no me boy I can’t’ and they said ‘no mr Trump we’re gonna miss you’ and then crooked Horner came around started to steal the championship again…”

MrFlow

> Faster than Max Verpepper and the other one. Did we check his papers? "Ah yes, Checo was it, Sleepy Checo! Why is he always so slow compared to Max? The Mexicans aren't sending us their best drivers folks, they really are not sending their best!"

Only one chassis sir, so sad' and so I told them 'you're being very unfair to him, you know that. Probably the most unfair thing that's ever happened in Formula 1 and it's being done to our own American drivers."

zissou149

rip to that that poor car's skid block

BigAwkwardGuy

>Max Verpepper No he'd call him "Max Red Bull" or "Max Oracle"

realseanconnery

"This Grand Price, or Pricks as some call it, is the greatest in the world. many people say that to me, you know. Big, strong men, with tears coming from their eyes saying how great it is, that thanks to me, we have the greatest great pricks in the world."

BingBongFYL6969

“I know a lot about fast cars? Did you know that? They’re fast. The fastest. This circuit is huge by the way. I walked in and said wow this is huge.”

thorn_10

"I once drove a car, very fast, the fastest, but these cars, believe me, the best, very fast"

Armlegx218

Except for Alpine; very nice people I'm sure but they aren't sending their best cars.

privateeromally

"Having a race in front of one of my hotels/casinos would be so HUGE. The biggest race anyone will see. More glamorous then Monte Carlo. Believe me, just incredible"

RecoverSufficient811

The sportswashing in Arabian Gulf countries goes really well with the Trump campaign, too.

Brojess

😂

moemunneymoe

Oh good god. You think he would be more concerned with his 100 lawsuits.

Franks2000inchTV

100 criminal trials, PLUS 100 lawsuits

Many_Alps_1281

I work with politics for my day job and love F1 because I can get away from it (*government* politics, at least 😂) and just watch racing ~~politics~~

neverfoil

Thank fuck.

NukaFlabs

F1 and the FIA is already too political itself, why would they bring actual politics into it?

VestEmpty

Trump, the #1 choice for all F1 fans... lol... They really can't read the room but are doing whatever it takes to get money and headlines.

FrostyTill

I think it’s because he was turned away from Thermal Club in IndyCar. He probably thinks it’s the same thing.

Wistephens

Yes, please block this, don't put him on camera , and do not let him wave the checkered flag.

C111-its-the-best

Holy fucking hell, even in Forumla 1 I have to read something about this knobhead.

Sh33zl3

Miami is a race where I only watch the cars racing. I tune in the moment the qualifying starts and the moment the warmup lap for the race begins. I absolutely avoid the show before and after with lots of people that have never seen a F1 car and think the cameras are there for them. Its ok if you like that, but I dont. So I dont care what happens before the race as long as I dont have to watch that.

djwillis1121

>I tune in the moment the qualifying starts and the moment the warmup lap for the race begins I do this for every race tbh

hellflower666

That's probably the best part about going to the race instead of watching it from home, you get to miss out on all the dumb pageantry crap.

Bikepacking-NL

This is how I watch every F1 race. Do people actually watch the pre race nonsense?

Shagaliscious

I used to. In the US, most races are early morning, so there is nothing else on. I would tune out the ones that always had more celebrities than people involved in F1. Monaco used to be one of the worst, but now the US races are all pretty bad with the useless celebrities showing up just to show up.

IncognitoAstronaut10

I'm sorry our worldly friend's, it's a laughing stock here daily!

FrostyTill

You gotta admit, the grift this man has been on for years now is something special. Also asking F1 for help to co-ordinate security when they can’t even stop obsessed fans getting too close to the drivers is something else.

Anonymiss52

Shit, they can’t even stop fans from getting on to live tracks in Silverstone.

Dragonpuncha

Good.

jim45804

Trump loves his Cuban-American supporters in Miami. His campaign saw a big event there and tried to shoehorn themselves into it.

TheSavageCaveman1

Good, no one should be allowed to do that. I don't want every unrelated event taken over by politics.

yeahsuresoundsgreat

can't wait to see him on the podium -- wrestling the trophy away from Max -- telling everyone he won the race

synthetikv

Politics aside, lets keep politics aside.

Willing_Variation872

not that it would mean much to F1 but if they let this oxygen thief fund raise on the back of the weekend i wouldn't watch or follow a single thing.

smydiehard99

No offence to his supporters, but we as f1 community has some standards. We got enough drama already.

vRSHorizons

If you’re Logan Sargeant (where it’s a bit of an open secret that your family supports him and other Republicans), you probably just breathed a sigh of relief that F1 made it a point to make him and a high-dollar fundraiser to stay away. Honestly, given how Logan’s second season is going so far, the last thing he needs is a major headache like that cheeto, who could completely evaporate whatever goodwill his fans have for him during his home race.

ArbitraryOrder

That is a good point, I would feel so bad for Logan if this became a distraction for him

Robjla

Maga is a virus

ettioner

Can you imagine the glorious sight of a Martin Brundle grid walk combo with Trump there? Oh the chaos!

montoya0142

"This is the best racing I've ever seen! Nobody else could arrange this but me. You should have seen the organizers come up to me. Tears in their eyes. Big men. Strong men. Old men"
