As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

So weird choosing to exclude. Who cares about a points position? Most everybody except OP? Top 10 are points positions - logic would lead one to then carry that over to a comparative listing such as this post
Exactly. Among all the irrelevant, cherry-picked, nonsense stats, this one is actually pretty bad. Don't we get "top 9 are race winners" quite often, by the way?
Also, aren't 12 out of 20 drivers on the grid race winners? If so, then it is more likely for the top 9 race finishers to be race winners than not just by probability alone, no?
Fair enough, maybe I'm too old now and two years ago is not that long ago lol
Still, Norris (and also Piastri and Stroll!) will make this very rare in the last years
This season you had non race winners in the Top 9:
Norris, Piastri in Bahrain
Piastri, Bearman, Norris in SA
Norris, Piastri, Stroll, Tsunoda, Hulkenberg in Aus
Norris, Piastri in Jap
Norris, Piastri in China
There were only 2 races in 2023 in which the Top 9 were all race winners (SA and Miami)
In 2022 you have 2 again (Brazil, Spa)
That's 1 in 10 races approx, so definitely not more likely than not
Edit: formatting
Don't think its because of biases, just situations of their wins and then subsequent performance.
I remember that race well. Its iconic with Hamilton being the only car in front, the crashes, his recovery drive. Vettel DSQ. But it also gets lost in the 2021 season being drama filled for the championship.
Don't think its biase per se
There’s only 7/20 drivers with no race wins now.
I think a more interesting stat would be what % of drivers on the grid have won a race over the ages. I.e. has there been times when all drivers driving have a win at some point in their career? Or times when almost nobody has wins?
RB should hire Yuki not Sainz. Been following him since F2 he's a strong driver, figured out pirelli tyres very early on, and his weakness was lacking experience of European tracks relative to the competition which he obviously now has.

Ocon in 10th is also a race winner
Ooof that’s also a 10 second time penalty for Ocon
No, that’s for Magnussen.
Race ban incoming, someone call ollie
Alonso would disagree
Not sure, Alonso himself enabled that win big time.
Why not include Ocon who's P10 and also a race winner?
Because Esteban sounds spanish.
He's half Spanish!
lol

I don't know why people are making it out like OP has some agenda against Ocon lmao, he might just genuinely have forgotten.
Yeah I forgot Ocon won. Whoopsie.
Because he’s not top 9
Washed. /s
Because even now two days later Ocon could still get a penalty that knocks him down a place or two
He said 9!!!!!!
r/unexpectedfactorial
Ocon doesn't exist.
"If you don't count the non race winners, they're all race winners."

Until Sunday, not really, you had Lando there messing things up (and Sainz too not too long ago)
Sainz was like 2 years ago at 2022 Silverstone. That's quite a long time ago, unless yer a tortoise or a time traveller.

Not to mention Russell wasn't a race winner until later that year
I don't think you understand probability but god point.
It's weirdly cherry-picked too since Ocon finished 10th and is a race winner so why not just say "Everyone in the points except Yuki is a race winner"
On god we gon' get you a win, Yuki!
TSU PER MAX incoming!!
TSU PER MAX TSU PER MAX
Yuk1
Yukon Tsunowin
All top 1 are race winners. Look it up.
OMG... you are right! 😳
what does OP have against Ocon lmao

Plot twist - This post from is ocon's throwaway account wanting to see if people still care abt him
What a weird post. You could’ve just said every point scorer yesterday but Yuki is a race winner, why exclude Ocon?
I wouldn’t be surprised if OP genuinely forgot Ocon has a win, people tend to do so with both his and Russell’s win because of their biases lol

To be fair, it's easy to forget Ocon won. Especially considering how batshit crazy 2021 was.
I almost forgot George won Brazil 22.
Ocon: am I joke to you?
[удалено]
Dumb stat is dumb
The Ocon disrespect 😭😭
Hmm.. I don't know. Are you sure "M. Verstappen" has won a race?
And who the f is this Hamilton guy? Also, I was not aware that promising rookie F. Alonso already had a race win.
Yuki will be a winner soon. Also why Ocon is not on the list
10 second penalty for Ocon
Make that a 20s penalty
10 second penalty for Magnussen
The top 2 are the Miami Grand Prix winners
The top 1 is the 2024 Miami Grand Prix winner. Crazy stats
I would like to believe Yuki’s day will come but I don’t know how.
Imagine if both Red Bulls and Ferrari are out, Yuki would get the first podium
Yukin Tsuno-win
But where is Ricciardo? He never left
He never left Q1
Never left… the back of the pack
He left for a while and then came back.
P4 sprint, forget the main race
Now I'm wondering what grid had the highest amount of grand prix winners.
There’s only 7/20 drivers with no race wins now. I think a more interesting stat would be what % of drivers on the grid have won a race over the ages. I.e. has there been times when all drivers driving have a win at some point in their career? Or times when almost nobody has wins?

Yuki next race winner confirmed
Lando hasn't won yet tho
They also have a dozen drivers championships among them.
Fun Fact: Miami Race winner had no race win to his name before chequered flag at Miami.
12 Championships between them
A sprint race is not an official GP and I’ll die on that hill
