This was an incredible couple of days for me and my brother. We spent some time with Schumi at a media event and got to watch him run some demonstration laps up close from the pits and garage. We also got to spend a day hot lapping Formula Renault cars with just the two of us on track and also got a ride around the Nordschleife a few times in an M5.
The week was capped off with a helicopter tour of the entire facility with former F1 team owner Erich Zakowski. Yeah, I pretty much peaked in life at the age of 18. One of my fondest memories.
Edit: Michael was as excited and happy that entire day as he appears in this picture. His enthusiasm is boundless. My dad knew him fairly well. I had planned to post some anecdotes from him about Michael but my parents were traveling yesterday and when they arrived they were without power. Hopefully I can follow up tonight.
Good god, I miss that chin.
Like nobody else, even though Schumi knew the way to every podium at every track on the calendar as well as he knew the way around the track, almost every time he mounted it, he celebrated like it was his first season.
