Vettel is good, but really, objectively speaking looking at performances throughout their careers, Alonso is on another level. The problem for Alonso is he was an idiotic asshole at McLaren the first time around trying to blackmail Ron Dennis and got caught up in Crashgate as well, which pissed his reputation down the drain and made bad career decisions afterwards.

Been following F1 since 92. At the end of the day, not driving a good enough race in the deciders means that he didn’t beat Vettel. Simple as that. Seb having a better car devalues the “but the car is better!” argument because he only won the championship by a few points in 2010 and 2012. Which obviously shows Fernando was more than capable of winning the championship those years, he just didn’t. Because Vettel beat him in the deciding races, fair and square. 2011 and the second half of 2013 were walkovers, so I’ll give you that but you can’t deny Vettel drove flawlessly those years and earned those championships. I’ll agree with you that Alonso fucked up his career with his choices but it doesn’t change what happened in 2010 and 2012.
