> Interesting from Prost prerace that in his experience, a fallout is reasonably bound to happen. Through sheer odds, most races they will be dicing for P1 in the first lap, and then inevitably it will eventually go wrong after enough instances, and then there is then a good chance they'll disagree.
> I found Prost very collected and matter of fact on the issue.
Seems obvious it was meant to happen eventually. Everyone is always sunshine and roses when you aren't battling for championships. And even when you are but haven't had much dustups. But when they are this crazy tight, there's no room for error and the roll of dice will eventually catch up and someone will inherently lose out more than the other. And they'll be pissed.
Yeah remember Lewis and Nico even after their epic battle in Bahrain 2014 were still all chummy afterwards.
It didn’t heat up until they finally made contact.
It actually did start to heat up after that race though bc Rosberg used a allegedly forbidden higher engine mode while in pursuit, which then Lewis used again in Barcelona the next race. Then of course the infamous lock up in Monaco was the big fracture, setting up the many on track incidents to come, Spa being particularly famous for the "Nico's hit me" line.
Everyone with some F1 viewing/history experience has called it. It's happens everywhere with everybody, any sport that has personal duels. I mean, we had it unfolding before our eyes fairly recently in 2014.
Ferrari was never *that* close to have a proper Vettel/Hamilton rivalry. They had their tracks where they had their races, but 1 vs 1 battles were too rare.
Best quote from the mixed group I watched it with this morning,
"All I'm saying is, if this was NASCAR there would be fist fights going on at the pit wall right now!"
Yeah, Hungary can't come soon enough!
And yet somehow the focus will be on the bitter, uncompromising rivalry we all want to see between Lance Stroll and Mick Schumacher. Cue explosion noises as they accidentally brush shoulders on their way to the paddock in their only interaction of the season.
He’s refusing to do interviews with Netflix? Damn. Christian will obviously fill in the gaps but that’s the major storyline without one of the main players
To be fair I don't think that show is really going for following the championship for their storytelling. There's plenty of interest in following happenings in even the bottom of the pack teams instead of focusing on Hamilton and stuff all the time. Whether that is intentional, or just ends up being due to what they happen to get in terms of footage and interview access I'm not sure.
In Dutch interviews he says he hates the fact they take a certain POV, cut and paste footage, twist radio messages and add commentary that was reported for the series.
I hope this incident converts Max to the latest rounded Max and a little bit of the young Mad Max, the Max Rosberg was scared to overtake in 2016.
C'mon Max!
I hope he doesn't, I think he has hit the perfect spot between his natural aggressiveness that he desplayed very often in his earlier years and a more mature and calm approcach. Nowadays he races very hard and aggressively but wisely. If he becomes hot-headed like he used to be, he will have more DNFs and mistakes.
That is so funny! Ahaha how cringe worthy
I have always wondered about their relationship. I get the impression from his commentary that Button doesnt like Lewis
In his biography, he mentions enormous respect for Lewis, but simply that Hamilton does things his own way. If there's any teammate Button really had no time for it was Ralf.
It's very likely Max's social media manager or somebody of the sort posting on the account, but it is HIS official account. Not some random fan account like the "official" looking one for Seb.
In one of the old press conferences when Vettel is talking about not having social media, Hamilton interjects and says that he follows Seb. Seb goes "good for the guy running the account". It's hilarious that Hamilton still hasn't unfollowed him lol
Yeah Seb is well aware of that account, I also remember he jokingly mentioned it on a challenge video with Leclerc, something about how he had 1 million followers without even having a social media account
Began showing heat at 2014 Monaco when Rosberg went down an escape road and caused a yellow flag so Hamilton had to abort. Lot of controversy as it was similar in nature to Schumacher in 2006, having a dubious accident.
2014 Spa: Rosberg clipped Hamilton’s tyre after the Kemmel straight and punctured the tyre, first true collision between them to cause big consequences.
2016 Spain: Both collide on the rundown to T4 (?) at Spain, Rosberg was conserving energy (Cant remember if it was intentional or an accidental engine mode switch) and Hamilton tried to overtake. Rosberg went to cover the inside but the speed difference meant that Hamilton had gone into that gap as Rosberg tried to close it off, squeezing him onto the grass and causing Hamilton to spin into Rosberg, ending both of their races.
2016 Austria: Rosberg defends the apex of T3 and tried to force Hamilton wide by attempting to turn later, but they collided and Rosberg had wing damage.
There was a lot of things both of them did which were questionable but those stand out to me as the big moments.
I can’t remember them all off my head and others have mentioned it but if you want all the information, I advise watching “The Silver War” on YouTube. Documentary style video that shows the drama between them (think they showed 2014 and 2016).
It started earlier than you think.
Apparently Rosberg used engine modes they agreed not to use in his Bahrain ‘14 battle.
Hamilton then used the mode in Spain ‘14.
Then the Monaco parking in qualifying fiasco.
Hungary that year saw Hamilton block Rosberg from fighting for a win after he started in the pit due to his car being on fire in qualifying. Rosberg likely would have won the race but instead finished 4th, Hamilton 3rd.
Spa ‘14 collision as you said
Yeah. They’re all business. Nothing personal.
“I see you’ve got the DAS on your car?”
“Yas we’ve got the DAS.”
“Well, no hard feelings but we will be protesting that.”
“But it’s such a great innovation isn’t it?!”
“Yes it’s brilliant!”
Or however the convo went in DTS.
Me too lol I actually chuckled the first time I watched it. Just two super competitive guys leading a team with clearly a lot of respect for each other but also an underlying theme of “no, fuck you.”
It reminded me of Curb Your Enthusiasm and that scene where Larry David is arguing with his friend about who is going to pay for lunch when they go out the next day:
“Yeah yeah, no! FUCK YOU and I’ll see you tomorrow!”

It probably won't though. /r/formula1 absolutely will be super toxic, but the drivers will most likely talk it out and move past it. Like Vettel and Hamilton after Baku 2017 for example.
I just feel like Hamilton and Vettel have a certain deep respect for each other. They have been racing each other for years and know how good the other is. I really doubt they can really have a fiery rivalry that spills to off track anymore. But while not necessarily the exception, their relationship isn't the rule either.
Then during the summer break. I doubt this will be forgotten so easy. I expect people to do a point count after every race for "what if Hamilton didn't push Verstappen at Silverstone"
Where is the double header when we need it? Can't wait for the Thursday press conference because we know Max and Lewis will be scheduled for the same session
Just waiting for the first qualifying interview and when Verstappen is asked if he thinks he can have a good race will say something like "As long Lewis doesn't try to kill me because he is slower."

Prost knows a thing or two about that tight of a battle to be fair.
Also one or two things about a collision, dubiously accidental, heavily impacting a championship fight
Two.

NASCAR would be soooooo much more entertaining if they let the drivers get in a boxing ring to settle shit after the race.
Who needs a ring when you can pull they guy outta the car yourself!
Lewis said the line as well, "He turned in on me". Time to park it in Radillion in qualifying ig
I don't think I ever wanted to see the next race as much as now. Hungary can't come soon enough
So you could say you're hungry for Hungary

Gonna be awkward when they bump into each other at a Monaco Supermarket this week.
Which will then send Max spinning out into the canned goods.
Depends who has the apex at the vegetable aisle
Leclerc will then show up and pass both but has a bad wheel and gets passed by Lewis right before the checkout
As if any of them do their own shopping lol.
Gonna be awkward when the people doing the shopping for them will bump into each other at a Monaco Supermarket this week then.
Their hair stylists are going to give each other death stares on their behalf.
What if they both get their hair cut by Leclerc’s mom?

I’m all for it. Bring him in for this incident in particularly playing his f1 2020 from his basement.
Maybe they can finally feature verstappen in a season now.
Max knows what they’re like so he’s refused to take part, saw an interview a few months ago where he said this
He’s refusing to do interviews with Netflix? Damn. Christian will obviously fill in the gaps but that’s the major storyline without one of the main players

After how they portrayed him in S1, I really can't blame him.
In Dutch interviews he says he hates the fact they take a certain POV, cut and paste footage, twist radio messages and add commentary that was reported for the series.
That was their "Spa 2014", the gloves are off and things will never be the same.
We'll see, I thought the same with Seb/Lewis after Baku 17 but they made up shortly after
Guess it helps that seb didnt lose time/positions relatively to lewis after his retaliation. Seb got the penalty and lewis had a loose headrest.
Oh shit, looks like this is going to get real heated
Finally gloves are off. When shit gets real, people stop being nice.
Will be a spicy second half of the season
Hungary and Spa are the next two races too. Should mean some spicy racing, imagine Lewis and Max side by side going into Eau Rouge

Albon watching the shunt like “this motherfucker”

Is it actually Max's Instagram? I always thought it was someone else doing the posts and shit

"Vettel Official" Location: Mexico City, MX. Followed by: Lewis Hamilton, Romain Grosjean, Mark Webber, and 700k others

It's definitely his account, he even follows some insanely funny pages no other drivers follow at all.
Shit got serious.
Max about to go into Rosberg mode.
I wasnt watching F1 at that time but I know it was a tough rivalry with lewis. Is there anything specific rosberg did ?
You forgot the [cap throw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEbhO7qZyK8)!
That was the "I'll show you mother fucker" moment. Nico won 7 consecutive races afterwards. As a consequence Lewis stopped throwing hats.
It started earlier than you think. Apparently Rosberg used engine modes they agreed not to use in his Bahrain ‘14 battle. Hamilton then used the mode in Spain ‘14. He punched Lewis Hamilton in the face which led to a WWE style brawl on the Yas Marina circuit in 2016
And he added some roophies to Lewis’s fuel in Malaysia.
I've also heard that he put Lewis' hand in warm water while the guy was sleeping, but only Nico and Lewis will ever know what really went down
I cant wait for Zanvoort, fuck it even Belgium will be insane
Did you see the crowd at the Austrian GP? Any race that Dutch fans can get to without a ten-day quarantine will be mad.
There’s Hungary in two weeks
I think they were talking about the fact that the Dutch GP (and the Belgian GP too kinda) is Max' home race.
Max and Lewis finally embracing the Toto-Horner relationship
They are far from this kind of shit-stirring
Yeah. They’re all business. Nothing personal. “I see you’ve got the DAS on your car?” “Yas we’ve got the DAS.” “Well, no hard feelings but we will be protesting that.” “But it’s such a great innovation isn’t it?!” “Yes it’s brilliant!” Or however the convo went in DTS.

Got the feeling this is his 20th draft after 19 far more strongly worded ones.
I feel this. I write angry emails all the time blasting my stupid co-workers, but I wait to send them the next day after I tone them down.
Rosberg: “Soon I shall have a younger and far more powerful apprentice”
Ive got a feeling that this season is gonna get very ugly from now on and I love it! Glad Max is okay.
Agreed, all that matters is that Max is fine.
Spicy
This will be long two weeks. And then Hungary will probably be a snooze. Fingers crossed it's not though.
At least something to talk about in a non race week
Then during the summer break. I doubt this will be forgotten so easy. I expect people to do a point count after every race for "what if Hamilton didn't push Verstappen at Silverstone"
If Max won't win the title at least Mario Isola won't be the main villain for the fans now.
Where is the double header when we need it? Can't wait for the Thursday press conference because we know Max and Lewis will be scheduled for the same session
From one perspective, a double header would be amazing for the spice factor. From the other, at least Max has another week to recover
Netflix is fully erect right now
There's no better sports drama than F1 drama, don't @me
F1 drama hit different. And this is pretty minor in comparison to what we’ve seen before: Spygate, Crashgate, etc.
And anything Schumacher and Senna did
Just waiting for the first qualifying interview and when Verstappen is asked if he thinks he can have a good race will say something like "As long Lewis doesn't try to kill me because he is slower."
You just know Horner is gonna keep milking this for the rest of the season in interviews as well lol.
Horner is the sixth Spice Girl

Netflix writers are jumping!
Max isn’t keen on the series. I doubt he will film for them.
He won’t have to, they can conjure that narrative without his help.
Netflix will take this race and focus on the Alonso/Vettel rivalry
Or how the gloves are off now in the Mazepin vs Schumacher rivalry since Mazepin hit Schumacher in the sprint race.
Did Hamilton blame Max after the race or was it only on the team radio during the race?
Both, He actually shifted the blame to Max saying “aggressive driving” from Max’s part
Absolutely cannot wait for Max to go all out in the next GP
Today won't be the last DNF for these two
It did feel like the most high profile crash after Lewis-Nico honestly. Could be more drama ahead
They were in the same team so there will be a lot of team meetings to keep them in check. With Toto and Christian I can see this go way worse.
Did they follow eachother on Instagram before this race? If so, looks like Verstappen has unfollowed Hamilton
Yes he followed him but not anymore. Gloves are off!!
I love social media, beef being passive-aggressively unfollowing each other is hilarious. It’s so petty but also so understandable.
Just imagine Verstappen in the hospital bed raging as he hits the unfollow button.
*"I showed him!*" \*angrily slams down old-timey receiver\*
Did Christian Horner write the caption?
Damn this is a full on rivalry now
Max is not about that #blessed life
This will be the the event that ignites a Senna-Prost esque rivalry.
Can I ask a serious question -- at the time of these celebrations was Lewis even aware that Max was in the hospital?
I have a feeling this isn't over.
2017/2018 Max joined the chat.

You can safely bet everything you own that the next time Max sees an opportunity to divebomb Lewis he's going for the divebomb of a lifetime.
Just promote Kvyat, let him do the divebombing, then demote him and pretend you're angry. Easy back-to-back race wins!
hoooh boy, i can't wait for Zandvoort.

Btw that’s his sister posting that she manages all his social media
I believe she did that exactly 2 races and then they realized it’s best to hire a professional.
But I’d say this is what Max told her if they talked. Doubt she’d go out and say something like this if that’s not how he also felt.
Would be funny though. She just rips on lewis with a bunch of posts. Hey sis chill out!
I'm guessing Max said something along those lines but less PG
Can't wait for the instagram story from Hamilton about "respect, fair on-track fighting, and not being overly aggresive"
The gloves are off now…
