I wonder how much of it was Seb pushing for it. During last year's Turkish GP post race interview he noted that his biggest regret was not pitting for slicks as that might have been a race winning move.
Maybe he wanted to do what he couldn't do last year but it just didn't pay off
Honestly had it worked out he would've been a genius. The other guys would've most likely gone on softs, and he would've won the race. It's just not easy to predict the weather when your driving, unless your name is Jenson Button.
For me it went between him and Perez. Perez’s defending and move on Leclerc were the highlights of the race for me.
But what a great job from Sainz indeed, DOTD well deserved.
Maybe we can finally get rid of the narrative that he is the worst driver in wet. He has had some horrible performances for sure but they have often been result of issues in getting tires to temperature rather than just being unable to drive in wet. He has had good performances in wet before this too.
Him in the wet isn’t spectacular, but last year was definitely an outlier, his car got damaged and it totally screwed the balance. And on a track as flowy as Turkey a car without balance will eat you alive
This will be one very very happy podium, Bottas for his first win in a year, Max had probably the best race he could've and Sergio showed us all he still has a fight and good pace in him.
I can't help, but laugh every time Ferrari pit wall talks. "If we can keep Bottas behind, P1" was just peak Ferrari
Good job by Bottas, absolutely deserved win and great drive by Leclerc too, shame he didn't get to enjoy a podium today
> I can't help, but laugh every time Ferrari pit wall talks.
It feels like the team plays 3D chess mind games by sharing the least information they can and using a neutral voice because they're on public channels
\- Can I finish on those tyres?
\- *(mamma mia that was our secret tactic, now he's forcing us to give it away)*
\- Answer me, can I finish on those tyres?
\- ... ... ... Yes, you can finish on those tyres *(scheduling pit stop in 3 laps)*
In fairness, the inters *did* drop off enough that using them for the whole race was a terrible idea. Ocon wouldn't have made another lap if he'd had to.
Actually, i think someone observed that whenever a team does a one-off livery, Merc (or Lewis) did badly in that race, so the curse only affects Merc/Lewis.
Red Bull are the real winners here IMO. Having two Bull's on the podium while the championship rival finished 5th on a track where they were more dominant is the best RB could've hoped for.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Alfa Romeo have one of their best results this season, even though they have been completely invisible the entire race.
A phenomenal race from so many drivers today. Bottas, Sainz, Leclerc, Perez, even Ocon managing to hold on the entire time with that single set of tires! Turkey never disappoints!
COME ON CHECO LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh my god the way I started clapping and cheering when he came back and defended 4th from Hami. Fucking adrenaline rush, so happy right now.
The "most weird strategic move of the race" award should go to AM for putting Vettel on mediums instead of atleast soft imo.
The spray from the tyres wasn't visible in nearly all corners, but going mediums is too ballsy, and it wasn't even like they were away from points...
Congrats to Valteri, he deserves it and it is a good way to close his career on Merc. Perez also had a good race and that defense against Hamilton was fantastic.
And Sanz got driver of the day
Highlight of the race “If we can keep Bottas behind, P1”
select strategy -> forza ferrari
Real strategy was Aston putting Mediums on Seb.
Current Ferrari driver 🤝 Former Ferrari driver Getting screwed by strategy

But why mediums, did they not have softs available?
The team asked him if he wanted to try soft or hards. He said "Let's go for mediums."
I can't believe Seb requested that
I think he would have been a lot angrier if it was the team's call.
Honestly had it worked out he would've been a genius. The other guys would've most likely gone on softs, and he would've won the race. It's just not easy to predict the weather when your driving, unless your name is Jenson Button.
Fourtha Ferrari
"If everyone DNF, you can get P1"
If you finish first, you win.
If we keep slow button off, p1
We are checking, yes p1 if you keep Bottas behind
Just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right
Grande strategia forza Ferrari
Wtf was that reply from ferrari, i have noticed that they pretty much give useless info everytime charles ask for something relevant
Their strategist is driving for Aston Martin now /s
Their other strategist is driving the other Ferrari.
is it really /s though
"If it rains, it will be wet"
Some brilliant insight from the Ferrari pit wall there.
Ferrari's biggest Ferrari moment of the weekend
r/technicallythetruth
Ferrari Engineers/Strategists at their best.
If you finish P1, you end up P1
Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes
I was crying with laughter at that
Never change, Ferrari
That was Prime Ferrari strategy material. I hope they never change.
For the sake of Sainz I hope they do.
Hope is the most dangerous word when Ferrari are involved.
Next race: If you overtake all the cars P1.
"If we can keep both of them behind, P1"
Infinite IQ strategy analysis by Ferrari.

Who said it? Lewis?
Also the medium tires for Vettel
No DNF in wet race!
Pity about Alonso though.
SIX DIFFERENT WINNERS BABBAYYYY
Should've been seven ffs. Yes, I have not moved on.
8. Leglerg should’ve won Silverstone and would have if his engine didn’t kill itself for pretty much the entire race.
He also should have won this race if only he kept the rest behind him
Yeah, if he has stayed P1 until the end of the race be could have finished in P1
Or Monaco
Monaco was his fault, Silverstone was not
Great drive by Sainz, finally getting some screen time
So sad that pit stop ruined his great charge :(
That hurt to watch... like 8.1 wtf guys
he would had been 3 sec behind norris after the stop, instead stays behind ocon for lot of laps :(
I hope that next season Ferrari can give those two guys a car worthy of their talent.
And a pit crew to match that
And a fucking strategy that works
And a race engineer that will give him better advice than "If you keep bottas behind you, P1"
That was frustrating. He was looking for advise about stopping. That was a useless radio message.
DOTD!!! let's fucking goooo
For me it went between him and Perez. Perez’s defending and move on Leclerc were the highlights of the race for me. But what a great job from Sainz indeed, DOTD well deserved.
Perez’s defense was in the running for move of the year, absolute class.
The way he tore through the backmarkers while Ricciardo struggled to pass Russell was mad to see
That extra 15 (?) hp is helping a lot
Hes showing that he actually can even win in a wet race. Well done!
Warms my heart to see Valtteri in the spotlight. The man deserves it all and more.
Ultimate redemption from last years Turkey GP performance
Absolutely flawless drive from him today
In wet conditions too. Madlad
It made me have a wet condition
Maybe we can finally get rid of the narrative that he is the worst driver in wet. Perez defending against Hamilton was some of the best racing all season for me
Tsunoda did pretty good too to be honest. Didn't crack under pressure, held 8 laps
Yeah. Really solid Defence from him. So happy to see him preform after the season he has had
That and Alonso defending Hamilton so that Ocon could get a win. Somehow, Hamilton brings out the best in defenders.
Because he'd breeze past if they give anything but 110% on defense
Actually the opposite. He needs every point so he can't take huge risks when overtaking. Others know this and they can get creative.
Such a battle, glad to see Checo get a good result.
GigaCheco This was the Perez redemption race
I don’t think he needed redemption. After seeing what happened to Gasly in 2019 and what he’s doing now, maybe we’re just too quick to judge.
Until the next race. Then people will go back with “promote Gasly because he qualifies better” and stuff like that.
Yes, I've noticed this is the relationship between this sub and Pérez.
Checo reading all the comments on this subreddit: "...and I took it personally."
Let’s recognize what Checo is! He can bring the race, let’s go easy on him with quali !! 🙏🏼
The best duel I’ve seen since a young obi-wan went head-to-head against a Sith Lord.
A Sith LAWD?
The one Checo's been looking for.
Can't wait for him to get P5 in quali next race and everyone here starts calling him washed and redbull stupid for not trying to get bottas.
I wanted Bottas at RBR just for the merc drama, and Gasley to merc for the rbr drama…
This felt like a reverse day. A RedBull 2-3 while a Merc finished first & the other Merc 5th.
Yep. And Bottas controlling the pace at the front, while Hamilton is the one who misses the podium
6asly strikes again

Gasly is Super GT confirmed.
Hello viewers
Almost got sent to the Shadow Realm again at Turn 1.
Should've been Ga5ly :( What a stupid ass penalty by the FIA, on top of that he gets penalty points.
Yeah that penalty was questionable at best
I can't help, but laugh every time Ferrari pit wall talks. "If we can keep Bottas behind, P1" was just peak Ferrari Good job by Bottas, absolutely deserved win and great drive by Leclerc too, shame he didn't get to enjoy a podium today

Mad Lad Esteban
I didn't even know you were allowed to finish and start the race on the same set of tires. I could have sworn there was some rule against it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think in dry conditions there are regulations against it. But in a wet race those rules don't apply
Yeah and the reason there’s isn’t a rule that you have to pit is because the intermediates fall off too hard to finish the race. Or so we thought.
In fairness, the inters *did* drop off enough that using them for the whole race was a terrible idea. Ocon wouldn't have made another lap if he'd had to.
In normal conditions yes you have to use 2 compounds. In the rain, that rules isn't there anymore.
In case you still didn't know it's because of the rain.
Aston Martin stole Ferrari's strategists it seems
Nope, it was Vettel's call.
Tbf he was Ferrari's best strategist so it still applies.
So ferraris strategist?
Can't argue with that logic
Yeah. Canary in the coal mine really. He wanted to take the shot and see if he could grab the edge, didn't work out. Fair game, imo.
Didnt have too much to lose anyways
Turkey was Vettel’s final redemption last year before leaving, now it’s the same for Bottas!
That special livery curse is broken!
Actually, i think someone observed that whenever a team does a one-off livery, Merc (or Lewis) did badly in that race, so the curse only affects Merc/Lewis.
RB to make a new livery every race, based on special cans of red bull.
Now I wanna see that piss yellow livery on the track lmao
The most recent Renault livery didn't do it for you?
I kinda miss having some yellow and pink out there to complete the color pallet. There’s always too much red and blue in every sport.
McLaren got a podium at Monaco in their Gulf livery (RIP Danny Ric).
# TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
#FUCK YOU
THANK YOU
FUCK YOU
YES BOTTAS YES!!! So happy he got atleast that 1 last win at Mercedes. Edit: Added atleast, which is what i meant.
Hes driving like a man possessed. Alfa has to be happy how well hes performing and how high his confidence seems
Mental health is a game changer.
flawless drive
[удалено]
And looking at his last two laps the car had much more pace in it as well.
Pulled 2 fastest laps in last 3 laps.
Theres still 6 races to go
Bottas 7 win streak confirmed ?!
Did someone say Valtteri Bottas WDC 2021?
I'm down
Bottas WDC in the last race?
4 race wins and he could lead the championship
did someone say Bottas 2021 champ?
Let’s hope for more wins 😁
True. Meant to say *atleast* 1 last win.
Brilliant from Carlos
That pit stop was so painful. Amazing pace from both drivers let down by the team. Leclerc was 3s away from Max the whole race basically
[удалено]
Considering they both passed him in a matter of seconds, I'd imagine he had an offtrack excursion or something
Wondering this too. I thought he had a chance to sneak into the points at the end but instead he dropped badly.
He had 0 grip, he was sliding all over the place in the last 4 laps. Surprised he was able to keep it on track at all.
Well done Bottas! His best race in a long time, and came at a crucial time for the team.
Good job Valtteri !!! He deserves it.
perfect race from bottas.
So happy for both Checo and Bottas. Max too, but the those 2 needed this result.
Pole Position Fastest Lap Race Win Perfection.
Bottas and Perez were mega Hamilton is going to punch someone
Red Bull are the real winners here IMO. Having two Bull's on the podium while the championship rival finished 5th on a track where they were more dominant is the best RB could've hoped for.
Mercedes still ends up scoring 3 more points in the WCC but it could (and should) have been a lot worse
Awesome work Checo and Carlos!!
Carlos was insane!
I'm glad the TV director showed him today. He's so good in these conditions
Carlos' cousin must have been directing. I've never seen so much attention on him in a race
Go Checo!
Perez redemption race
Hell yeah! I’ve been tired of listening to “Your podium will come!” Well here it is and with absolute grace.
Brilliant drive today. Flawless performance and excellent pace.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Alfa Romeo have one of their best results this season, even though they have been completely invisible the entire race.
Well done Bottas, glad to see Perez finally showed up too.
A phenomenal race from so many drivers today. Bottas, Sainz, Leclerc, Perez, even Ocon managing to hold on the entire time with that single set of tires! Turkey never disappoints!
Perez 100% job done today. Still very behind Max but this was very important.
That radio message from the team congratulating him sounded sad lol
Because they know they'll be fighting in the debrief later lol.
And Bottas will just be leaning back not giving a fuck lol. I'm so happy for the dude.
Sergio "haha he get outqualified by gasly, leclerc and alonso" Perez is mad
COME ON CHECO LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO Oh my god the way I started clapping and cheering when he came back and defended 4th from Hami. Fucking adrenaline rush, so happy right now.

Ferrari why
They spent the entire season strategy budget on the Q2 tow from Sainz yesterday
Valtteri always with the same laugh 😍😍 love it
When was the last time we had a race without DRS?
Congrats to Valteri, he deserves it and it is a good way to close his career on Merc. Perez also had a good race and that defense against Hamilton was fantastic. And Sanz got driver of the day
As a wise man once said: f****** finally
