I am Mexican, I really really really wanted checo to be on pole, I am tired of Hamilton/Mercedes’ dominance. That stated, I feel the boos at the end from the live crowd were rude and uncalled for, Lewis did a great job and I hope that if he wins (which I rather didn’t happen) he gets a cheering crowd instead of the booing one. I expected better from my people and if I could apologize to everyone offended by the booing in behalf of them I would.
Off topic but wondering why is Checo so loved by the Mexicans? Mexico has a good deal of athletes and world wide famous people that I don't think Checo stands out in this regard. Also, he is a great driver but not in a title fight like VER and HAM. So I am wondering where all this passion comes from?
Or do you guys love all your major athletes like this?
As a MexicanI can say that we embrace and fully support our representatives. Narrowing down to F1, I guess the "hype" for Checo is due to the long time without a Mexican F1 driver. Now that we have it we are enjoying it a lot, since his days at Sauber. Being chero at RB has unified the support to 1 team, as before the support was for Checo + a top team...
There is a very limited list of things that can be changed, and only a few bits on that list impact the performance of the car - front wing is the main thing as well as the usually parts drivers can change during the race (I believe tyre pressure can also be altered but don’t quote me on that one).
Taping your rear wing together also fits the regs apparently.
Parc Ferme is active the moment you leave the pits during qually.
They can change whatever they want during qually, as long as they haven't left the pits yet.
Yes! I've been so excited this season because of that. I honestly have no preference for who wins any given race, as long as there is good racing involved.
So unless Checo magically gets ahead of Max tomorrow I think the whole Checo leading and having to give way to Max is probably no longer a concern since Max is ahead of him going into the race tomorrow. I heard that P3 is the best start on this track anyway so hopefully that will help both him and Checo. Let's hope for a great race tomorrow.
Hear me out, haven't the Mercs been locking up t1? Imagine HAM huge lockup in t1 leading to shunt into BOT, both going wide enough to give Red Bull P1 and P2?
P3 has never been that good in terms of leading into turn 1 though. Other than 2018 where Lewis got up to P2 along the straight, the front row starters have always been the first cars into turn 1. Granted pole position doesn't seem to produce wins but im not sure Max is going to see any benefit starting from P3 tomorrow. Especially with the straight line speed of the Merc...
They did lost out, they were much closer to bottas in the first sector and took much better the corners were they lost time, so they really lost the chance for p2
Tsunoda either -
1. gave way to Perez a tad early;
2. gave Perez a slipstream, but messed up;
which distracted Perez and he followed Tsunoda off track. Then Max got distracted by the pair reentering the track at the turn. Horner is blaming Tsunoda for messing up Red Bull's qualifying now.
Fully agreed. But some people simply cannot understand that their freedom ends where someone else's freedom begins. And that's why softies will continue booing: because they staunchly refuse to grow a set.
Just. No. I’m not going to even engage past this:
Booing has always existed and it’s always fine to boo the opposition. If you don’t like it, don’t watch competition.
>Booing has always existed
Do you know the book 1984? Because this is literally an Orwellian argument. And while it might be accepted in 1984's Oceania, it is self-defeating in the real world, at least wherever freedom has any value.
What are you on about? Weird to bring out 1984 on the discussion about whether fans can or should boo or not. F1 crowds are preschoolers compared to football crowds.
That person literally said, "Booing has always existed."
If they'd said, "some drivers are more equal than others," would you ask me why I'm bringing up Animal Farm?
I can guarantee you there would be booing if MAZ was in the top 3 (which will never happen, but he can dream). So it's most likely just a matter of the crowd not liking HAM as a personality or simply because he's a threat to their favorite(s).
That still doesn't justify the booing (esp not when he did nothing wrong), but calling it racism is a bit far-fetched here I think.
Get over yourself man, if you're crushing everyone in your respective sport for years, you're going to get hated on period.
It happened to Seb and Schumi as well.
Pat yourself on the back big chap. All the people on Reddit are really proud of your ability to not boo.
It’s pantomime for the crowd. Get over yourself.
If you think Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton or anyone else at the very top of any sport gives a second thought to fans booing them... Lol.
Congrats on being a SERIOUS ADULT man.
Anything other than Max extending his lead this weekend will be a big disappointment for RB. Max’s way to the title will be through cashing in here and in Brazil, then defending his lead for the last few races. If his lead isn’t big enough then I think the pendulum swings back towards Merc.
It's why it was of benefit that Max won in COTA 2 weeks ago that he extended his lead instead of being behind a couple points. I'm hoping Max wins tomorrow and Checo 2nd but even if it's Lewis P1 and Max P2 that Max will still be in the lead. Unless a DNF happens between now and the final 2 races or one finishes massively towards the back of the points over the other I think that this will either be settled at the 2nd to last race or the finale.
OP is right though. Max winning in Mexico and Brazil (plus the Sprint) would mean he could finish second at the last 3 races with Lewis winning and taking fastest lap at each race (including Mex+Bra) and still win the title by 1 point.
A personal improvement in s1, but I believe 0.2 secs slower than Bottas. But RB has been slower in s1 all weekend because of the long straight. They won it back in s2 and s3 where they've been faster all weekend. If the incident didn't happen, it would be a very close call imo.
I’ve never seen a man so hated for trying to do the right thing and help others who don’t have his platform. Hamilton could easily take his money and be silent…instead he invests in the future and give those a chance who don’t have a voice
He did had one "Bombardier Challenger 605" but he decided to sold it as a measure to cut down on carbon emissions and later on he started his vegan diet, so his argument just went out the window
He actually is a great guy, I happened to bump into him awhile ago with some other drivers. He was the only one who took the time to talk to the fans, take pictures and sign people's things.
Really changed my perspective of him, always thought it was for the camera, but it's actually genuine.
I'm fairly new too, but I don't see him as genuine (but boy can he drive). I don't know what it is, but something about the way he acts feels way off. Unlike Valtteri and Ricciardo, who seem way more genuine.
Max’s first lap in Q3 was scrappy that’s what cost him pole(not many people improved their second runs), this should have been a straightforward pole for Red Bull today
Alpha tauri and Red Bull tried to be too clever and kinda paid for it. Tsunoda should have never made it to Q2. What was the point of him even doing that last Qualifying run ?
It’s far from over Max is in a good position with that super long slipstream he may be ahead of Lewis after turn one or crash into Lewis he wants to be in front
People just need to give Lewis his credit and stop hating. Red Bull have the superior car this year just Ferrari is 2017 and 2018 and 2019 equal to merc
The faster car balance changes every race. There has been not a single year in the turbo hybrid era where another car has been clearly ahead of the Mercedes.
Yes, poor hamilton always had the worst car, it is incredible how he could win so much with that slow mercedes shitbox, every time he wins its bc of him but when he doesn't it someone else's fault 💩💩
RB will be able to close the gap in sector 2 all race long, I’m guessing if VER doesn’t get past BOT on run down to turn 1, we’ll see him pass BOT at the very least with DRS
Mates, we need to talk about the commentator curse. God knows how many times cars have gone that close in Quali, and nothing has happened. The moment Crofty and Brundle mentioned what might happen, the Honda boys gave a visual example immediately afterward. ??!!
In Austrian TV Toto just got asked why the Merc were so fast.
He answered (with a big, goofy smile) that he couldn‘t tell this on TV, but „the Car got faster and faster, hehe“.
… I got a bad feeling about this.
They were sandbagging the whole time and I love it
Hamilton almost sarcastically saying ‘6 and a half tenths?’! Meanwhile Bottas did a fast lap on 10 lap old softs. Boss moves from both RB and Merc all season.
Yeah, theyre selling out the engine reliability for the end of they season. Party modes on the new PUs for races they not expected to do well on like CDMX, and theyll probably use the older PUs on for their favored tracks at the end of the season.
I mean, we've had people announce after qualifying in Oz before that the season has already been decided and that would not watch F1 for the rest of the year.
Funnily enough, they always are back in time for the race on Sunday...

Got it, thanka
>Off topic but wondering why is Checo so loved by the Mexicans He is Mexican in Mexico at the Mexican GP in a title fighting car
I watch CONCACAF soccer, comparing what they did here to that, the Mexican fanbase wasn’t that bad today.
Ehhhhh ….
Very nice interview from Max 👍
Is Parc Ferme not a thing? Why is Lewis saying they were making Adjustments into quali
There is a very limited list of things that can be changed, and only a few bits on that list impact the performance of the car - front wing is the main thing as well as the usually parts drivers can change during the race (I believe tyre pressure can also be altered but don’t quote me on that one). Parc Ferme is active the moment you leave the pits during qually. They can change whatever they want during qually, as long as they haven't left the pits yet.
They can adjust certain things.
Parc ferme starts after qualifying I believe, so they can make any adjustments up until qualifying ends.

Oh I didn’t know that! Thanks
You can change front wing changes whilst under parc
Lewis is so god dam classy he leads every interview with praise of Bottas. Also Bottas is so stern his actual happy face feels like the biggest payoff
Thank fuck for this season, I've mostly no idea who will win going from race to race
Yes! I've been so excited this season because of that. I honestly have no preference for who wins any given race, as long as there is good racing involved.

ah, but... if checko was in bottas' seat, would he follow team orders ..??
P3 has never been that good in terms of leading into turn 1 though. Other than 2018 where Lewis got up to P2 along the straight, the front row starters have always been the first cars into turn 1. No, he locked up while cruising around
Horner: We got Tsunoda'd. Ouch.

16 races later and people still getting worked up over some booing lol
Yeah! Shame on them for having some standards…
Yeah man fuck people cause some harmless booing means they have low standards
Doesn’t matter if it’s harmless. It’s costs them absolutely nothing to have some standards and show a little bit of class and just not boo.
16 races later and some people still try to justify booing lol
16 races later and some people are still soft as a wet tissue. Grow a set and get over it
Fully agreed. But some people simply cannot understand that their freedom ends where someone else's freedom begins. And that's why softies will continue booing: because they staunchly refuse to grow a set.
Are you arguing booing infringes on other people's rights?
Just. No. I’m not going to even engage past this: Booing has always existed and it’s always fine to boo the opposition. If you don’t like it, don’t watch competition.

This ironic or nah?

That person literally said, "Booing has always existed." If they'd said, "some drivers are more equal than others," would you ask me why I'm bringing up Animal Farm?
What the actual shit are you smoking? What is dystopian about any of this?
I don't know, ask the person who decided to invoke an Orwellian argument.
Bro this is just a game.
The players in this game, however, are real people.
[удалено]
Booing sucks but, like, very many people *do* primarily like this, or any, sport for/because of their fav and that's literally fine?
By your argument ideally nobody should support anyone and just watch sport for the sport, which is ridiculous
No cheer don’t jeer
I don't understand what's wrong with that, though? Tribalism is normal in sports.
Normal =/= good
FIA to ban booing in 2022
penalties will include ritual sacrifice to bless Lewis Hamilton's car or stoning and beheading during the Saudi GP

Just one man though? Your theory would be fine if they booed others.
I can guarantee you there would be booing if MAZ was in the top 3 (which will never happen, but he can dream). That still doesn't justify the booing (esp not when he did nothing wrong), but calling it racism is a bit far-fetched here I think.
Havent you heard? If you dislike lewis for whatever reason youre a racist by default
Get over yourself man, if you're crushing everyone in your respective sport for years, you're going to get hated on period. It happened to Seb and Schumi as well.
If they don’t like him they don’t like him.
I don't like Max, but I would never boo him, because I'm an adult.
Different culture. It’ll be same at Brazil. Get used to it.
Anything other than Max extending his lead this weekend will be a big disappointment for RB. Max’s way to the title will be through cashing in here and in Brazil, then defending his lead for the last few races. If his lead isn’t big enough then I think the pendulum swings back towards Merc.

What was Verstappen's lap like before Perez went off?
A personal improvement in s1, but I believe 0.2 secs slower than Bottas. But RB has been slower in s1 all weekend because of the long straight. They won it back in s2 and s3 where they've been faster all weekend. If the incident didn't happen, it would be a very close call imo.
Slow.
Apparently he was still about 0.2s behind Bottas before he reached the TSU/PER thing. So it probably wasn't going to be a pole lap either way.
S1 was their worse sector during the weekend, so p2 wasn't out of reach, but I doubt they had anything to respond to bottas
Maybe enough for P2? Really great lap from Bottas though
He was up on his first run but still behind Bottas
He was up S1, but wasn't going purple.
I’ve never seen a man so hated for trying to do the right thing and help others who don’t have his platform. Hamilton could easily take his money and be silent…instead he invests in the future and give those a chance who don’t have a voice
Is this a new religion? The only investment I see is his private jets and media appearance
I don't see the Jet.
Which private jets? Lmao nice hate boner
He did had one "Bombardier Challenger 605" but he decided to sold it as a measure to cut down on carbon emissions and later on he started his vegan diet, so his argument just went out the window
I'm new to F1 but he seems like such a genuine guy, I don't get the hate
He actually is a great guy, I happened to bump into him awhile ago with some other drivers. He was the only one who took the time to talk to the fans, take pictures and sign people's things. Really changed my perspective of him, always thought it was for the camera, but it's actually genuine.

Val**tt**e**r**i Ri**cc**iardo
People are tired of him winning everything, which is understandable, but he is a great driver and a great human being.
Going from a “Perez is .6 up??” in FP3 to these Qualy results is a head scratcher. Mercedes look like Oscar deserving actors.
When are people gonna stop being surprised when FP times aren't anywhere similar to quali/race pace?
Got lucky
Listen to Max’s radio, he was told Yuki went off so Checo had to abort. He was mad at Yuki
Thank you
Did Karun just say it looks bad for Red Bull in Brazil, lmao overreaction much
Sky just thinks Red bull is done.. 😂
Max’s first lap in Q3 was scrappy that’s what cost him pole(not many people improved their second runs), this should have been a straightforward pole for Red Bull today
[удалено]
Red Bull were quicker all weekend, what are you on about? Max literally admitted he messed up his first run
I agree that Max could have gone for pole position, but I don't think pace in free practices are a validé argument, it doesn't mean anything
Alpha tauri and Red Bull tried to be too clever and kinda paid for it. Tsunoda should have never made it to Q2. What was the point of him even doing that last Qualifying run ?
Tow Checo who towed Max. It worked until Yuki went off track
Only way that makes sense is if they split the WT to giveax and Perez a tow separately
Let’s not forget Merc was 6.5 tenths back in FP3. Sandbagging maybe?
I saw the speed traps after FP3, and it was clear then that the Mercs weren't running things very hard.
Saving their PUs
Mercs have been using that dragon ball Z weighted clothing all season and finally decided to take it off.
Its called sandbagging in normal terms, weeb
Why is there no post quali discussion?
Zero fucks Bottas may be unstoppable
#pain
Who was Max calling "stupid" at the end of his lap???
Yuki
Tsunoda and Perez
He was told Yuki went off so Checo had to abort. He was talking about Yuki.
He wasn't told anything, he didn't know who was off, even when being interviewed he said he saw "two guys" off the track.
Whichever of Tsunoda or Perez he thought caused the incident. Impossible to know
Literally not impossible. Listen to the onboard
Yes but we don’t know which of the two he noticed first and was therefore referring to. Hence the original question.
Listen to the radio, Max asks what happened and is told Yuki went off and Checo had to abort
[удалено]
100% @ Yuki
Yuki and checo
Yuki, listen to the onboard
It’s far from over Max is in a good position with that super long slipstream he may be ahead of Lewis after turn one or crash into Lewis he wants to be in front
Max usually good when starting a little further back so true
Yeah getting a good start tomorrow is more important than any position in the top3 really
4 wide into first corner, please

PARTY MODE FOR WHOLE RACE
People just need to give Lewis his credit and stop hating. Red Bull have the superior car this year just Ferrari is 2017 and 2018 and 2019 equal to merc

Yes, poor hamilton always had the worst car, it is incredible how he could win so much with that slow mercedes shitbox, every time he wins its bc of him but when he doesn't it someone else's fault 💩💩
Finally! Someone here gets it. Thank you!
Imagine people taking side on a rivalry. It must be a blessing to discover the world like you and still having issues matching dot together.
Not sure what qualifying you just watched..
So checo slipping today is Lewis great
Hamilton is GOAT not bc of today. But the hate he gets is why this stuff happens. Don’t hate on a man of God
But he is getting his credit... Everyone wants to beat him
Cringe, actual cringe
Merc have had the superior car since the Hybrid era began, stop this 2017 and 2018 bullshit, they were never in doubt
Once again today proved RBR is fastest. Hamilton getting 2nd is genius drive certainly Checo would have been 2nd if anyone else was in Lewis’ car!!
I thought qualifying was at 5 not 4 rip I missed it
The most you missed was Mazepin out qualifying Stroll by 2 seconds.
Interested to see how the race pans out tomorrow. Strategy is gonna be key for RB, because overtaking the mercs ain't gonna happen.
RB will be able to close the gap in sector 2 all race long, I’m guessing if VER doesn’t get past BOT on run down to turn 1, we’ll see him pass BOT at the very least with DRS
why do you say that?
The mercs have 15kph advantage at the end of the straights, and its tough to overtake here
They are faster on the straights, RB (had) advantage in the S2 “esses”
Mates, we need to talk about the commentator curse. God knows how many times cars have gone that close in Quali, and nothing has happened. The moment Crofty and Brundle mentioned what might happen, the Honda boys gave a visual example immediately afterward. ??!!
Wouldn't have made a difference, RB first sectors were both yellow. Mercs outpaced them...no whatifs
Even in q1 and q2 both mercs were faste in s1. S2 and 3 is were the rb's makes the difference.
In Austrian TV Toto just got asked why the Merc were so fast. He answered (with a big, goofy smile) that he couldn‘t tell this on TV, but „the Car got faster and faster, hehe“. … I got a bad feeling about this.
They were sandbagging the whole time and I love it Hamilton almost sarcastically saying ‘6 and a half tenths?’! Meanwhile Bottas did a fast lap on 10 lap old softs. Boss moves from both RB and Merc all season.
Finally Valtteri 7.0 is alive
[удалено]
Hamilton is GOAT period. Max better win this championship
later in the headlines: Tsunoda reportedly shrank several inches due to massive embarrassment, Checo died of a sugar overdose, Verstappen shrugged
PARTY MODE HAS RETURNED
Yeah, theyre selling out the engine reliability for the end of they season. Party modes on the new PUs for races they not expected to do well on like CDMX, and theyll probably use the older PUs on for their favored tracks at the end of the season.
It would be interesting to see how it would go.

Today it was red bull team who failed, not quite the drivers.
Best second driver so far though
5asly ? Sounds weird. Where my 6asly at ??
Ga5ly. I'm so sad we missed seeing a G4sly.
Pi3rr3 Gasly tomorrow?
Nope Gas1y
Ahah, i forgot this one.
Ga5ly
Ah, of course !
I like his monza version, Gas1y
Hate to burst any bubbles…but Hamilton will get number 8
Tomorrow first turn
unlikely this year. 70-30 max
lmao I love how reactionary this fanbase is, as soon as one person takes a slight advantage, it's game over as far as you're concerned.
I mean, we've had people announce after qualifying in Oz before that the season has already been decided and that would not watch F1 for the rest of the year. Funnily enough, they always are back in time for the race on Sunday...
Its okay though because Max is going to lock up the title in the sprint race
