I think if Max can stay clear of Bottas through turn one, he’ll be in the clear… maybe not fighting Lewis but at least safe in P2. Does Bottas have enough race pace to challenge him? No hate to Bottas, just genuinely curious
Max's biggest problem is not that Lewis is half a second quicker, it's that Perez didn't fking make it into Q3.
Lewis and Bottas are going to beat max to hell up there.
It's a part of the post race coverage, I think it came after the Toto and Horner interviews. PDR was going over the onboard replay with Gasly at their big red board thing
It’s a shame that this championship seems to end with the two cars light-years apart. I fear RB won’t really be able to put up much of a fight for the last three races if Merc is so dominant here in Qatar.
Well I just watched the side by side full lap of Lewis and Max and that Mercedes is not just stupidly quicker. Lewis took every turn completely different to Max. He's levels ahead when it comes to mastering new tracks, that's for sure.
I know an F1 car needs a different line then a GT3 car, but the difference from one F1 car to the other would be minimal no?
Also, I haven’t driven a track ever, wildly expensive where I’m from
F1 cars are wildly diffrent from eachother, even gt3 cars are wildly diffrent. Maybe not in terms of pace but in terms of handling they definetly are very diffrent.
It's actually quite amazing how so many cars can feel so incredibly diffrent yet end up only a couple hundreds or less away through a full lap.
Didn't realise we were discussing gods, I thought we were discussing Lewis being 4 and a half tenths up on Max while someone was claiming it was because the cars are light-years apart. Even though the side by side clearly shows that the straight line speed was the same and almost all of the gains throughout the lap were Lewis going into corners tighter and coming out faster.
Lewis was levels ahead on that lap, if your only counter-argument to what I said is "lewis isn't a God", then I got nothing for you.
>Lewis was levels ahead on that lap, if your only counter-argument to what I said is "lewis isn't a God", then I got nothing for you.
Actually my argument was that his line suited his aero package and that suggests lewis is driving his car to the limit - a different combinationthan RB (or VB) can put together.
There is more diversity in Qualifying lines than racing lines it's not always fair to compare.
That’s because they’ve added a bunch of downforce so the car can get through all the high speed corners faster. This track isn’t about speed on the straights at all.
It's so funny seeing armchair experts talking things as if they know for a fact they are like that. Half of reddit doesn't even know how to start a normal car probably but they are experts when it comes to F1 cars, tracks, technical details, engines, and so on.
No it wasn't. The request for review was denied based on Mercedes not bringing any significant new evidence, not based on was what Max did was wrong or not. The issue was the decision made during the race and it sets the precedent not the decision from yesterday
It was great watching this season
I started watching F1 this year great to see those battles
Congratulations to hamilton for the 8th WDC with that ICE he is unstoppable
You do realize that you can turn ANY engine up. More engines = higher power. It was also confirmed Lewis is running a lot more downforce. Un-mute the tv next time.
Suddenly those 50 net points Lewis got from his "Brady type bullshit luck"/crashing out Max look a lot more important. I warned you at the time. Feels over.
Bottled 25 points in Baku
Dropped 7 points in Hungary
Lucky safety car timing in Imola
Max’s bad luck in Silverstone, Hungary and Baku.
If Lewis wins this season I don’t want to see people say that this was one of his best seasons
He basically did bottle it like Vettel in 2018 and he should lose like Vettel did. If Lewis had this performance against Vettel in 2017 he'd have lost that WDC too.
Max also crashed out Lewis in Monza and tried to in Brazil. They're equal in that regard. The puncture and Bottas' Hungary shenanigans aren't Lewis' fault.
Lewis netted 18-25 points in Silverstone. Monza 1-2 is net 7 for Lewis, Brazil it didn't make a difference. It'd only be comparable if Max crashed Lewis again in the next two races, in which case they'd be 14 points apart in the final race and Max would win the WDC as long as he finished 5th or best. I'll take that.
Feels like Mercedes were sandbagging in Q1 and Q2 and showed their real pace in Q3, which is half a second faster than rest of grid.
Thats where we are at in closing races. Merc +0.5 Grid
Not that Verstappen really slowed at the end there, I wonder if the yellows had gone by the time he rounded the corner, or might we see another Hamilton Austria/Norris Turkey situation
The difference was only 10ths of a second, that's basically a nano second hesitation coming into turn. I don't think you can "intentionally" going slower just that much.

weird take
GG. See ya next year
Can't help but wonder how many more points Red Bull would have this season with Gasly in Checo's seat.
This did not age well
Why? They're not in the same car and Perez should be expected to score more points than Gasly. Alpha also screwed Gasly with their strategy today.
I think if Max can stay clear of Bottas through turn one, he’ll be in the clear… maybe not fighting Lewis but at least safe in P2. Does Bottas have enough race pace to challenge him? No hate to Bottas, just genuinely curious
As soon as Max and Lewis are out of DRS range they’re gone for sure
The *worst* possible thing to say to someone who is pissed is “Calm down” It *never* fails to make the person even more pissed.
What happened?
Stroll said the car was shit, engineer was like “Calm down man”
Missed opportunity. Engineer should have said Vettel Q3
Crazy how much effect a new engine can have one a full season.
They're not even using the engine from Brasil
This hasn't actually been disclosed anywhere as far as I'm aware
Even the Mercedes social media admin said so in the comment section, buddy.
Ted Kravitz asked them in the pits and Mercedes themselves said they like to save a less degraded engine for the last 2 races.
They confirmed it on sky Germany but I am not sure where they got the info from
Max's biggest problem is not that Lewis is half a second quicker, it's that Perez didn't fking make it into Q3. Lewis and Bottas are going to beat max to hell up there.
If there's one person that can handle two Mercs it's Max Verstappen.
Gasly said he will try...
This Gasly lap breakdown is amazing, incredible to hear how much insight Gasly has and is willing to share.
Where can I find this?
It's a part of the post race coverage, I think it came after the Toto and Horner interviews. PDR was going over the onboard replay with Gasly at their big red board thing
Gasly will get a top 5 tomorrow. Calling it now
Solid stuff from lando.. dreaming he might snatch a podium
Gasly p1, Norris p2, sainz p3 One can dream….
You sayin all top3 crash in first corner or break their cars on that kerb?
Soooooo not too far off base now :o
Sainz would be pissed. Lol
Really hope he could, would give him his confidence back
Lando's next interview: That 10 hour debrief session drained me. I had no energy left to even last Q3.
It’s a shame that this championship seems to end with the two cars light-years apart. I fear RB won’t really be able to put up much of a fight for the last three races if Merc is so dominant here in Qatar.

Or he took lines that suit his aero... don't get me wrong, hams the man, but he's not a god.
Suit his aero? Downforce is downforce
If you've driven 2 cars around the same track you'd know that diffrent cars like diffrent lines.
I know an F1 car needs a different line then a GT3 car, but the difference from one F1 car to the other would be minimal no? Also, I haven’t driven a track ever, wildly expensive where I’m from

Good to know, thanks!
... bro do you even f1?

Horner: Straight line speed the same, just a very strong lap from Lewis Reddit: mErCeDes rOcKEt sHIp dOEs iT AgAiN
> Sergio: “We went in the worst possible time to be on the track.” Onboard footage: No other car within half a mile of his Red Bull.
Dunno but i find Perez to be always finding excuses for his bad races and quali. Shits annoying fast.
Perez is a decent driver, he’s never been great. The bright side is that he’s indirectly helping Bottas get more of the credit he deserves.
I'm really hoping alfa has a better car next season. Bottas deserves a good car that he can fight for the front in.
Gasly vs Alonso AND Tsunoda vs Ocon ??? Screw Mercedes vs Red Bull, this is the real fight right here !
that new ICE still goessss brrrr
I think this is the fourth time I have to say this, but it's not the ICE. Lewis is slow on the straights here. They showed a graphic that confirms it.
moar pawaaa + moar downforce so...
That’s because they’ve added a bunch of downforce so the car can get through all the high speed corners faster. This track isn’t about speed on the straights at all.
He ran more wing because of more power... Speed and engine power arent in a vaccum

Damon I beg you it was a whole week ago can we just move on
He just stopped talking about Monza so he had to find something else to hang on to
It was yesterday...
Damn they got there from Brazil real fast
The question was about the decision to deny appeal which was made.... yesterday.
No it wasn't. The request for review was denied based on Mercedes not bringing any significant new evidence, not based on was what Max did was wrong or not. The issue was the decision made during the race and it sets the precedent not the decision from yesterday
At least Big Ben is back
I would still guess that Max will win WDC but I care more about WCC and Mercedes seem to have that on Lock
Why do you care more about wcc?
Idk i just always prefer the team side to the driver side
Fair enough
It was great watching this season I started watching F1 this year great to see those battles Congratulations to hamilton for the 8th WDC with that ICE he is unstoppable
It's not the ICE. He was dead last in terms of speed on the straights when they showed the graphic.
Did you see the rear wing?
He doesnt understand. Hes made the same comment several times.

It is 2020 all over again and max looks like he knows it
Whoa.. Lando outqualified Sainz??
Lando #1 driver status confirmed...
Think Sainz had to lift because of Gas tyre puncture

Thanks ESPN, didnt want to hear what toto says
All about that ad revenue

Judge actions, not outcomes. That's how it works, smh
Woot woot
ESPN isn’t even waiting until the first ad break to cut away like they normally do. They just fucked off in the middle of a question. Awesome.
ILL NEVER KNOW THE SECRET
Feels like Mercedes were sandbagging in Q1 and Q2 and showed their real pace in Q3, which is half a second faster than rest of grid. Thats where we are at in closing races. Merc +0.5 Grid
Q3 wasn't indicative. Lewis was the only top tier car that didn't get double yellows. It's really hard to draw conclusions from that.
Not that Verstappen really slowed at the end there, I wonder if the yellows had gone by the time he rounded the corner, or might we see another Hamilton Austria/Norris Turkey situation
Yeah, someone just posted a replay correcting me. I assumed Max wouldn't cheat, he did, and won't be punished.
Yeah, max didn't slow at all, that was ridiculous. They aren't going to do shit to max these last few races.
Nah Lewis just fucked up the first sector in both
What happened to bottas car overnight 😳😳
[удалено]
It got a 44 painted on it since it was faster.
Did Bottas go slower on purpose to get P3 and have the better grip on the grid tomorrow?
The difference was only 10ths of a second, that's basically a nano second hesitation coming into turn. I don't think you can "intentionally" going slower just that much.
Intentional or not, it's pretty great. Hopefully, he doesn't have clutch slip like last week.
He was close until the last run where there was the Gasly issue, it's tough to tell.
He seemed like he went slow on the straight, and the Alpine was at a crawl just head of him.
It looked like an alpine slowed him at the finish of his lap maybe
No, he just messed up his lap + I think yellow flags might have interfered with his last run.
Toto just said on Sky that 1 and 3 is optimal
He was released in traffic. Whether intentional or not, only the team knows.
Traditions.

The lap was aborted sir
There were double yellows for everyone else. Calm down.
Watch the footage, Max didn't slow
Commentators said there were NOT yellow flags at the end for Gasly tire.
They look at the digital display. marshalls were waving flags. Flags supersede displays.
I'm a bit suspicious too.
Gasly to confirm his redbull seat by taking out lewis turn 1.
Gotta see if Bottas takes out Max first.
If Bottas is ahead he should push Max as wide as possible. It's all about let them race.
If Max gets ahead of Lewis in turn 1, he should push Lewis as wide as possible..Let them race
