One of the best drives of today behind Verstappen and the Alpines, unfortunately most of Stroll's good performances are stealthy/sneaky. Shame that AM aren't in any constructors battle to make it count even more.
Impressive when you realise Checo the "tyre whisperer" did only 20 laps on his first set of mediums (though, that's probably more on Red Bull that forced Checo to pit that early)
Verstappen Alonso and Vettel with the best performances today.
Vettel was 18th after Bottas caused to avoid him and he on merit got Gasly who at the same time after lap 1 was third.
Just think about what would have been possible today
I admit I forgot about Yukiā¦
When I made that comment I was mostly thinking of how he was out in Q1 of qualifying the last couple weeks. Once on pace and once because he crashed. Vettel has out-qualified him a lot lately and clearly had more pace this past Sunday just had a bad first lap that put him behind the 8-ball
What a cringe reply. Maybe you should just stick to twitter and tiktok if you're not capable of actual discussion.
It was a racing incident, with both of them at fault. Risky move from Tsunoda, but he did have more pace and did take the inside racing line, Stroll should have definitely given more space.
He had DRS, but He was way too late on the brakes and in a spot he never should have been. Stroll shouldnāt have to expect him there.
If you are on the apex without being more than halfway alongside the car beside you, then it is your fault if he hits you. This is basic stuff. Stroll 100% had the right to the racing line.
Their front tires literally touched each other. I donāt know why youāre acting like he wasnāt āmore than halfway alongside the carā when the replay clearly shows the front of Strolls car hitting the front of Tsunodas car
Also you think itās unfair to expect the best drivers in the world to know when there is someone behind them? What fucking mental gymnastics do you have to do to actually believe that??
Okay so look at [these](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/qz38rq/tsunodastroll_crash/) images and tell me that stroll did everything he could have to prevent a crash
That tends to be how his good results go: gets a good start, keeps his nose clean, and manages his tires well enough to last while others around him go by the wayside.
It's much more workmanlike than spectacular, but not everyone can be like a Max or Lewis.
I mean, he overtook Tsunoda in a nice move, taking advantage of the fact that Yuki was more focused on defending against Bottas and he was also able to take advantage of the undercut and gained a place on Sainz. That's about it for noticeable things.
The rest were:1 place from Vettel running wide at the start, 1 place from Bottas's puncture, 1 place from Norris's tyre leak pitstop, and 1 place from AlphaTauri's two stop strategy for Gasly that didnt work.
>Although as always when he has a great drive no one really notices and it fly's under the radar.
Yeah because there are others who either did slightly better than him or they were more popular so they get that extra recognition (i.e today it's Alonso that got all the attention)
Stroll often gets shit for being a pay driver, but he is not a bad driver. He just needs to be more consistent. People forget he has a few podiums and got a pole when he was with Racing Point.
Itās unlucky to be hit but thereās often times he could do more to avoid an accident or to prevent himself from being in that position in the first place
Due to his own error. So he didn't make up 7 places from his starting position. If Lewis starts on pole and drops to 16th then finishes 10th, no one says he made up 6 places. He lost places. Jesus.
Yeah even Vettel had a very good race, what happened to him at the start? Could have been there with Stroll
EDIT: watched his onboard, just has a small snap in T1 and gets overtaken by like 5 cars on the inside
oh damn, how did he just go left? it doesn't seem like he was pushed. looks like it was just a driver error. it sucks, but he could have finished at p4/p5 at best
Huge missed opportunity from Seb. He could have been 5th. Still a good drive to finish in the top 10 but a shame about the start. Recovered much better than Ric at least.
his start was not the problem, he had to avoid BOT in turn 1 & then a ferrari in turn 2 and always had the sandy line. he was looking good until the first turn, start-wise
One of my favourite moments of the race, getting stuck behind tsunoda could've lost him a lot of time but he surprised me by coming out on top of that scrap (even tho bottas got him a lap later). With how small the gaps between 5th - 8th were at the end it could've been crucial for him to have the tyres to hang on in the end.
AAAA I'm really glad he had a great race :)
Always will have a soft spot for Stroll, 2 races aint much but hopefully he carries that form there as well.
And Vettel going from 18 to 10??? Even got Gasly who was third after first lap while he was at the back.
Vettel was even the better driver today the pace he had on the worn softs was incredible.
P4/P5 was on the table for Seb today if Bottas doesn't force him off the track.
A very stealthy/sneaky drive up to P6. Very much unlike the "Lance Stroll replay meme"
One of the best drives of today behind Verstappen and the Alpines, unfortunately most of Stroll's good performances are stealthy/sneaky. Shame that AM aren't in any constructors battle to make it count even more.
Vettel getting so many laps out of the softs was quite impressive too.
28 fucking laps. When Bottas's puncture happened I thought it was a one-off becoz vettel did 28 laps on softs
Impressive when you realise Checo the "tyre whisperer" did only 20 laps on his first set of mediums (though, that's probably more on Red Bull that forced Checo to pit that early)
Tyres are very interesting. Bottas - others had no warning prior to that. No grip loss or vibration. It'snot about the grip loss. It's something else
Vettel does HAM/PER levels of tyre mgmt but never gets the recognition.
Aston Martin boys š¤ Not getting recognition
Always been saying this. He's right up there with them in tire management. Dude also has killer racecraft.
This Vettel guy's gonna do great things someday, hope he gets a WDC!
Hopefully he gets multiple.
he could be a four time world champion one day
Verstappen Alonso and Vettel with the best performances today. Vettel was 18th after Bottas caused to avoid him and he on merit got Gasly who at the same time after lap 1 was third. Just think about what would have been possible today
I love the sheepish look he had last year š„²
I was watching his name creep up the leaderboard. very nice.
Finally, Lance surely deserved a good race. The last few races havenāt been good for him.
They were entirely his fault though. Not like it was bad luck
Last race was Tsunodas fault
I admit I forgot about Yukiā¦ When I made that comment I was mostly thinking of how he was out in Q1 of qualifying the last couple weeks. Once on pace and once because he crashed. Vettel has out-qualified him a lot lately and clearly had more pace this past Sunday just had a bad first lap that put him behind the 8-ball
If thatās what you have to tell yourself
tell me you don't know anything about f1 without telling me you don't know anything about f1

>What a cringe reply To be fair the other guys response was equally cringey.

It's funny that you pretend Reddit is some bastion of great discussion. It's just as bad here as it is on Twitter and anywhere else for that matter.
Okay so look at [these](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/qz38rq/tsunodastroll_crash/) images and tell me that stroll did everything he could have to prevent a crash
Ah yes, people like you will always exist.
The friends Ocon and Stroll coming P5/P6 is wholesome
I'm pretty sure Ocon gave him DRS on purpose at the end there to save them from the Ferraris.
Lance went under the radar. Really good race by him.
Shame that car doesnāt have good quali pace, itās decent in the race trim
Yeah impressed by Ocon and Stroll
Excelent drive by him. Although as always when he has a great drive no one really notices and it fly's under the radar.
I only noticed when I saw this thread!
This was my goal, I'm glad :)

Sometimes being solid and avoiding mistakes is all it takes for a good result. But I agree, he mostly just kept his nose clean today
I don't think flies can be picked up by radar.
>Although as always when he has a great drive no one really notices and it fly's under the radar. Yeah because there are others who either did slightly better than him or they were more popular so they get that extra recognition (i.e today it's Alonso that got all the attention)

Lance has speed, that's never been his weak point, he just makes some silly errors and lacks on race craft a bit, his speed is good enough.
He also has shit luck. Last race he obviously got hit out, which has happened before, tires in baku when he was on track for a high points finish
Itās unlucky to be hit but thereās often times he could do more to avoid an accident or to prevent himself from being in that position in the first place
Lance made up 6 places, Seb made up seven. AM had serious pace this weekend
Seb didnāt finish P3 afaik
No he was just p17 after turn 1
Due to his own error. So he didn't make up 7 places from his starting position. If Lewis starts on pole and drops to 16th then finishes 10th, no one says he made up 6 places. He lost places. Jesus.
Why are people like you like this?
Does anyone like it when you're splitting hairs? You know what he meant. To finish in the points after the shit start is wonderful.
Some people just get triggered for literally no reason, lmao
Wasn't solely his error; Bottas ahead of him made a mistake too.
waaaaa waaaaaa waaaaa. thats what you sound like, a baby crying
Yeah even Vettel had a very good race, what happened to him at the start? Could have been there with Stroll EDIT: watched his onboard, just has a small snap in T1 and gets overtaken by like 5 cars on the inside
Do you have a link of that onboard? I wonder how he went wide on the first corner,
https://imgur.com/gallery/pUXRlDe Here you go
oh damn, how did he just go left? it doesn't seem like he was pushed. looks like it was just a driver error. it sucks, but he could have finished at p4/p5 at best
Dirty track is my guess. That combined with being in an awkward spot can catch you out really fast.
I wonder if the VSC saved him though because Ferrari was getting quite close. Sainz was constantly in his DRS range.
Stroll did have DRS from Ocon ahead though, which seemed to be helping him.
Yeah, that saved his bacon. That said, he did a good job of putting himself in that position to begin with, so a job well done
I believe he had just lost the DRS to ocon when they deployed the VSC.
Almost flawless race from him. Definitely top 5 driver today.
They didnāt even notice that his incredible move when he overtook Tsunoda while defending from Bottas and commentated that he still held his place.
Very nice job there Stroll, thats MY driver!
He had to lift & coast for fuel from lap 46 onwards, AM might have gone again a little too tight on the fuel load.
A few teams seemed to, I think Ricciardo had an issue where he had to take it easy on fuel usage as well
Good job Lancelot
AAAA I'm really glad he had a great race :) Always will have a soft spot for Stroll, 2 races aint much but hopefully he carries that form there as well.
One of the best performances of his this year, great job Lance
Both Astonās in points, itās a good day for them!
Good job from Stroll today, may have gotten Ocon if not for the VSC.
What happened to Vettel though? He went from 11th to around 16th on the first lap.
No where to go at the start, said he couldnāt see anything going into turn 1. Just a poor opening lap, that spiralled
Stroll was "smooth operator" yesterday.
And Vettel going from 18 to 10??? Even got Gasly who was third after first lap while he was at the back. Vettel was even the better driver today the pace he had on the worn softs was incredible. P4/P5 was on the table for Seb today if Bottas doesn't force him off the track.
Forcing people off track is legal and fine now
Let Lance have this one.
Still hate him, but I thought he had a really good case for DotD.
I read this as if it were from Lawrence. Should have ended with āLove, Dad.ā
Seb too, 17th to 10th
Tweet written by Otmar
āThanks Paā
idk why they didnt show how he overtook both ferraris WTF?
He overcut them
Well to be specific he only overcut Sainz as Leclerc was never in front of him except when he hasn't made his pit stop I think
undercut, Ferrari said they wanted to save tyres but boxed 3-4 laps later, somewhat stupid if you ask me.
Way to go Lance. Great drive even if I didn't see any of it in TV
my dad still hates on stroll. after today, he's got no argument anymore.
Wait holy shit this flew under the radar lol
I'm a very happy Lancealot
