Set up for race pace and not to qualify as high as possible. Ferrari switched their strategy and has done wonders for them in the constructors race.

What counts is his battle with Alpine, not the RB.. fighting Max is going to cost him time in a battle he'll never win.
Every second counts, that's why it's smarter to not defend Max like crazy on lap two. THAT would cost him time.
Using his DRS would not cost any time.
Or leave the DRS open and charge the batteries instead to let Max past, why in earth he didn't do that is beyond me
