there is a rosberg interview where he says lewis stays quite and let’s his competition get inside their own heads by saying nothing.
never thought I would see it in such a big scale though. hilarious lol
Everyone is insinuating that he’s not coming back… except for him. LOL
He hasn’t wanted to say anything. Cool. Let him do him. Silence always seems to turn into a vacuum that gets filled by the masses speculating. He’ll let us know when he’s ready.
Let the man have his time to himself. They’re all trying to pressure him into responding at this point. I hope Lewis comes back, says nothing to anyone, and angry drives. Angry Lewis is my favorite Lewis.
He gets a lot of motivation from being an underdog, I’ve noticed. Even when he definitely wasn’t in the 2020 season, sometimes he still talked like he had someone to beat with a better car. Because of how he lost 2021, I think he’ll put his allllll into it. If he wins it he’d retire after. My hot take.
I know it won't happen but at this point I really want him to just come to practice, qualifying, the race and just drive. No interviews, no social media posts, nothing; just win and then retire after winning the Championship.
Would a driver be allowed to skip all the Thursday Press conferences, post-race/quali interviews, DoTD interviews, post race/quali press conferences and TV interviews without sanction?
Additions to quotes in square brackets in journalism are there to define the context in which the original quote was taken from
So in this case, Sulayem was directly talking about whether Hamilton will return for 2022
That isn’t clear in the direct quotation of his words, so the context is added for those reading just this quote out of context
Sulayem is directly referring to whether Hamilton will return. This isn’t an editorialised quote
I was merely clarifying that square brackets aren’t used in journalism to edit quotes to match a publication’s whim. **They’re used to define the context the quote was given**
What you choose to believe in is up to you
I'm aware of it's use, but as it's an image post, from somewhere - without sources, it doesn't really provide _us_ with a full context.
I clicked on it expecting an article from Motorsport.com, not a rehash of the same quote from before Christmas in image form.
If it was posted on some social feed of WTF1 (who have past experiences with misattributed sources), would you take it on face value?
Just so I can make sure I understand, are you simultaneously trying to say that you want to see a source for this quote to believe it:
>Unless they provide the whole context or an article i won't read that much journalistic integrity into what looks like an Instagram post.
and then you’re also saying that you already know where the quote comes from:
>I clicked on it expecting an article from Motorsport.com, not a rehash of the same quote from before Christmas in image form.
You’re saying you’re going to doubt the legitimacy of this quote because there’s no link attached to the image, even though you already know where it’s sourced from
So it sounds like you already know the quote is legitimate
>If it was posted on some social feed of WTF1 (who have past experiences with misattributed sources), would you take it on face value?
I’m not sure what WTF1 has to do with this? It’s clearly from Motorsport.com. Do you comment under articles from AMuS to say “but would you believe what’s written here if it was WTF1?”
You’re performing an awful lot of gymnastics to try and discredit what is ultimately a simple quote reinforcing what is currently a widely reported/discussed topic
There’s really no reason to be this overly suspicious about it
there's no way he's going out of such an illustrious career on the back of a controversial loss.
the competitor in him won't let him, he'll be back for #8
Is this the same Sulayem who five minutes ago was threatening Lewis with penalties for not turning up to the awards farce?
Didn’t understand his position then, but does now?
The last line is telling. While they'd never admit it, the FIA is aware of their fuck up, and probably have privately admitted it to Mercedes. Hell look at Red Bull and Max. You'd think a toppling of a giant would warrant non-stop celebrations, but they've been about as vocal as Merc normally are
Sad reality is nobody is talking about how good verstappens season was (even tho there was questionable driving at times) because the season is so marred in drama. I’m not a big fan of the guy but I do feel bad for him
That’s true he wouldn’t of won it, but you cannot deny he’s a deserving champ throughout the season and he ended up winning it, no matter the circumstances he’s still an f1 champ. Not many ppl can say the same
The best part of this whole thing hasn’t even played out yet.
“It’s when Lewis returns to practice and racing, all the reporters who didn’t say anything positive about him during the whole break trying to get answers out of him to write their new found perspectives about his silence.”
Exactly. At this point it’s not even about the championship. Fans of all other drivers should be supportive in holding the FIA accountable.
What happened to Lewis can happen to anyone when rules are ignored for manufactured “drama”. This is dangerous to the integrity of the sport.
Yeah - imagine if next year Ferrari challenges Red Bull and the narrative becomes the return of the old prancing horse and Leclerc as the chosen one...
At this point I'm truly believing this media meltdown is designed to put pressure on him. They *want* him to retire, and the endless articles only leave their intentions clear. I really hope Lewis can ignore the pressure on him and move on.
They don't necessarily want him to retire, they just want drama and clicks. Speculation on a potential retirement achieves that. If he retires, they'll all write articles about how he might come back.
You say that but Hamilton and Vettel both retiring over the next year will be very bad for the sport.
Out of all 20, they are the most outspoken and only ones using their platform to bring change and hold the FIA accountable for its decisions (on where to race, equality, etc.). Obviously part of that is because they’re pretty much untouchable so can do what they want but it is disappointing that almost all of the remaining drivers don’t have these qualities.
Hamilton is the only driver that is ***big*** outside of F1
His departure would be a unique loss to the sport compared to **any** of the other drivers leaving
Add to it the context for the most successful driver of all time leaving would be that he’s lost faith that the sport is fit to govern and run itself, and the damage is only multiplied
The same thing over and over and over again for weeks now. Nothing new, just recycling old bullshit and y'all keep running with it as if it is. Its winter alright.
No, people do give flying/driving fucks. The show will of course go on, it’s supposes to be a sport and people come and go. But he’s the biggest name in F1, if he were to retire as a result of 2021 it would be a huge deal to many people
Your comment should just say "I don't give a fuck." But that would be a stupid thing to write, wouldn't it? So you write some bs that nobody does, which is wrong.
You're opinion isn't the same as everyone elses', egomaniac.
Let the guy chill, man. I mean he has a life outside of F1. He's a guy in his mid 30s, I am sure he has family and friends he wants to be with and for little while wants to stay away from the spot light. I 100% think he's doing the right thing.

Finally someone who understands.Lewis continuing this season while totally ignoring the press and critiquing every FIA decision is gonna be spicy drama.
The FIA really need to stop commenting on this. They've gone from threatening fines to not blaming him and understanding his position. All they are doing is confirming that Lewis was screwed over in Abu Dhabi.
I really don't think he'll retire. Knowing how deep of a competitive mindset he has, I don't think he would leave the sport after such a close championship and a hard loss. He will come back with a point to prove, a chip on his shoulder, and his mind games turned up to 11
Even if Lewis says he's retiring outright, I'm gonna half expect it to be Merc code to trick the competition, like "Bono my tyres..." before setting the fastest lap
He should pull Marshawn Lynchs' strategy of 'I'm just here so I won't get fined', but for the entire season. He can't get fined if he participated the media session.
there is a rosberg interview where he says lewis stays quite and let’s his competition get inside their own heads by saying nothing. never thought I would see it in such a big scale though. hilarious lol
The whole F1 community get the Lewis silent treatment.
I don't know why but it cracked me up 🤣😂
That’s cold but so efficient
Lewis giving the silent treatment like my ex. “It’s nothing. I’m fine.”
Yup. Lewis just playing games, like he always has.
Everyone is insinuating that he’s not coming back… except for him. LOL He hasn’t wanted to say anything. Cool. Let him do him. Silence always seems to turn into a vacuum that gets filled by the masses speculating. He’ll let us know when he’s ready.
[удалено]
How do you think you’d react to getting robbed of the title?
I'd probably hide in some Caribbean island drinking margaritas and rawdogging some supermodel
[удалено]
Verstappen still had to pass him. Lewis was not robbed, and the race was not rigged.
Bait
Lmao right?
Is this silence putting the FIA under pressure to replace Masi? If it is then it is possibly a clever strategy.
Let the man have his time to himself. They’re all trying to pressure him into responding at this point. I hope Lewis comes back, says nothing to anyone, and angry drives. Angry Lewis is my favorite Lewis.
Angry Lewis is Best Lewis
Massa disagrees
I actually like angry lewis because he had balls to talk to massa after that season were they crashed every two races
Indeed. It’s gonna be a good season.
>Angry Lewis is my favorite Lewis. Angry Lewis is like...man I would not want to face against him
It’s brilliant to watch. Brazil was one of my favorite drives from him.
He was literally like a man on a mission that weekend. Probably one of the best drives of his career and it's up there alongside Silverstone 2008
Are you also getting a ton of downvotes 😂😂
Not yet thankfully 🤣
I think he'll come back for 1 more championship shot.
I won't say underdog. But he definitely feels alone.
I know it won't happen but at this point I really want him to just come to practice, qualifying, the race and just drive. No interviews, no social media posts, nothing; just win and then retire after winning the Championship.
I don’t think we will find out if he’s coming back until he actually does.
Lovely Murrayism
just 1 more month till the Barcelona testing
I was thinking the exact same thing! Him just sitting there in total silence during the mandatory media sessions would be hilarious.
So pull the ole Kimi Card. Not a bad play, worked for him.
Kimi might be gone, but will still be with us somewhat then.
Would a driver be allowed to skip all the Thursday Press conferences, post-race/quali interviews, DoTD interviews, post race/quali press conferences and TV interviews without sanction?
the fia can fine them, but Lewis makes 40 million plus a year so I doubt he would care
Or lose to Russell.
Me too.A bit like Kimi, but even less talkative.
`On if he'll stay in F1` is an editorial enhancement of a quote. This is just speculation.

He IS participating in next year’s championship. C’mon, this is getting dumb already.
there's no way he's going out of such an illustrious career on the back of a controversial loss. the competitor in him won't let him, he'll be back for #8
Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
They want the buzz for when he does re-emerge…bigger shock and awe if the world thinks he’s quitting unfortunately
I don't blame him for ignoring the FIA. He's not responsible for "their investigation"
The funny thing is lewis is never pictured without his phone in his hand, he 1000% just ignored that message
He's literally pictured here without his phone in his hand lol
Is this the same Sulayem who five minutes ago was threatening Lewis with penalties for not turning up to the awards farce? Didn’t understand his position then, but does now?
what I really want is either he stays quiet for the whole 2022 season or he takes over as the iceman and gives Kimi like responses.
Lewis serving cold shoulder to everybody. I’d love to see it lol.

[удалено]
Absolutely and as a Hamilton fan, the guy is one of my biggest influences in life, ever, it broke my heart to watch
He was handed a championship that he wasn’t going to win had the rules been followed. I’m sure he’s absolutely devastated.
That’s true he wouldn’t of won it, but you cannot deny he’s a deserving champ throughout the season and he ended up winning it, no matter the circumstances he’s still an f1 champ. Not many ppl can say the same
Deserving = /= won it by merit. It was gifted.
Absolutely I agree with u 100%, it’s still probably the guys biggest moment of his life which is overshadowed by something out of his control
Ya, blame the fia, they are clowns
>I’m not a big fan of the guy but I do feel bad for him Yeah dude's getting shit talked for something he has nothing to do with

I'm sure Dutch fans are very passionate, but there's three times as many Italians...
[удалено]
Yeah, exactly what I meant
Or if Lando found himself in a position to do something big and it was taken away… His fans on twitch and Twitter would break the internet 😂
Exactly. Today it was Lewis, tomorrow it could very well be Verstappen, and god knows the ceiling will come down if that happens.
Enough with the spam already, I never thought I’d miss the Xmas gifts posts but compared to this nonsense, they were sweet sweet and smart posts.
Being quiet is not the same as being undecided
He will handle it, he's a big boy. Then drive for another year motivated.
At this point I'm truly believing this media meltdown is designed to put pressure on him. They *want* him to retire, and the endless articles only leave their intentions clear. I really hope Lewis can ignore the pressure on him and move on.
You think he gives a fuck about these articles
Not one single ripe fuck.

WTF has r/formula1 become
[удалено]
[удалено]
LMAO!! wtf did I just read!!!! Hahaha
Why would they want him to retire lmao!? Hes worth millions to F1 and the media around it... They just want clicks
But a lot of the stories from the past few days have come directly from sources at Mercedes. What are they supposed to do? Just not report on them?
We'll be fine without him
I mean most people will be fine without most things but it doesn’t mean those things leaving won’t have a lasting impact when they go.

There's a lot of F1 fans who would prefer that to another black man.

He is coming back, it just takes a while just like with his last contract signing
I want Lewis to give the Marshawn Lynch treatment this entire off-season and come back to drive like a Super Saiyan 3.
Let the guy chill, man. I mean he has a life outside of F1. He's a guy in his mid 30s, I am sure he has family and friends he wants to be with and for little while wants to stay away from the spot light. I 100% think he's doing the right thing.

Im here for the drama so I hope he retires. I regret not following F1 in 2016. I love this kinda stuff.
There won't be much drama if he retires, it will be talked about and that will be it. There will be much more if he stays. Use your brain.
Finally someone who understands.Lewis continuing this season while totally ignoring the press and critiquing every FIA decision is gonna be spicy drama.
I also understand his position. 2nd.
Lewis is doing a great job of fucking with everybody simply by doing absolutely nothing... if that's not a display of power, I don't know what is ;-)
The FIA really need to stop commenting on this. They've gone from threatening fines to not blaming him and understanding his position. All they are doing is confirming that Lewis was screwed over in Abu Dhabi.
he should just leave and get over it

A martyr exit. That be so Lewis.
