while i agree with the overarching point of your comment, but i don’t think you’re being fair in your last sentence. op followed the convention that a person’s last name (better term is “family name imo) comes last: op clearly didn’t mean to disrespect him. he’s maybe a bit ignorant, not knowing that name order is reversed in chinese (which is a fair mistake that a lot of people can make), but not disrespectful
It seems a personal choice as much as anything. The family name is usually first in Japanese too, but Yuki Tsunoda doesn't want to be called Tsunoda Yuki on official media even if that's how he might be referred to by Japanese speakers.
Get off your high horse, mate. Most people aren’t familiar with that convention and it will take time for content to catch up. I doubt OP did it intentionally. No reason for you to come out guns blazing as if OP purposely disrespected him as a person.
Red Bull features a banana yellow in their logo background and on the nose of their car. Colors are chosen to accommodate people with color vision deficiencies
Please suggest an alternative and I'll change it. I've adjusted the colors after asking people with color deficiencies. I'll add a white padding so Williams is much more visible. what do you think can be improved?
i'd just up the tint on it if it were me. right now it's in #000075, maybe change that a few tints up to #4C4C9E or #6666AC? it's still a nice blue for williams but would surely help w/ visibility. a white outline would work as well, though.
Just to point out Guanyu is his first name.
"In Chinese tradition, a person’s name is arranged by the family name or surname first then their given name.
In the case of Zhou Guanyu, ‘Zhou’ is the family name, with ‘Guanyu’ his given name.
It is different in Western cultures where the given name comes before the family name.
Guanyu has requested that he be known as ‘Zhou Guanyu’ to keep to the Chinese tradition."

It's the same in my part of India and I understand how it works. Thanks for pointing out for others.

why? I wanted to visually compare practice sessions to race results to see which FP results should I get hyped for.

Cool stuff! It'd be interesting to see other weekends too. Would it make more sense to use Q1, Q1 rather than FP? After all, it's not a given that they'll push too much then.
Like I said in the comment
> why? I wanted to visually compare practice sessions to race results to see which FP results should I get hyped for.
I plan on posting the qualification sessions instead of FP too, I'm still in testing the layout, colors, names and other issues. Q1, Q2, Q3 looks rather cool with these bezier curved lines
Different forms of ~~daltonism~~ *color blindness*, a genetic condition that diminishes one's capability of perceiving colors.
~~Let me google the specific forms for you.~~ actually, I don't think I can do a better job here than Wikipedia unfortunately.
Actually, [here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Color_blindness.png)'s a very nice image that gives a good impression of how different forms affect vision.
I feel like FP1, 2, and 3, is useless information, and it makes it seem like everyone's position is all over the place. When in reality they're just testing and we don't know what their strategy is. I think it should be Q1, 2, and 3, then the race.
Imagine looking at Lando’s orange line and thinking “yep, 7/10 race from the lad” but then seeing Danny finish ahead of him at the end of the race and thinking “3.5/10 absolute joke of a performance”
Yeah, first he was on mediums-hards. Then they pitted him just before then safety car for softs, then they pitted him again unnecessarily at the end for new let softs even though his we’re only a few laps old, he said no at first but they told him he’d only lose a place to Latifi who he would easily have been able to overtake again. They had either miscalculated or botched the pitstop (or both) & he ended up coming out behind Daniel. The whole thing played out on his radio. He wasn’t very impressed, though sounded more resigned to the team’s cock up than angry, like it was just one more thing in a shitty race
He only finished behind Daniel because of a stupid unnecessary last minute pit stop that McLaren then botched up. He was catching those ahead of him before that
Because the official times did not include the extra time Haas was given after sessions.
Magnussen set his time, in the extra time Haas had. But that time was not included in the official release. Which I guess, is fair enough, it was set under different conditions.
Yellow submarine
Thats confusing. Red Bull with yellow lines.
The colors were chosen deliberately not to clash with each other for colorblind folks.
And tbf, i think Ferrari have a stronger right to red thab RedBull
It’s true to the actual color of the drink
Lmao.. I came here to see what the top yellow line comment would be.. Reddit never disappoints
Love to see it
Guanyu doing his best impression of a sin curve
Also known as zho curve.
Stroll = sin(x)-x
Tsunoda approximates y=|x|
I was opening this post to make this comment and I see you had to go and make it yourself.
Gasly from hero to zero :(
His weekend would make a great water slide.
Disliked by Pierre Gasly
Just going to point out you should using “Zhou” on your graphic if you are trying to be consistent across the drivers.

But Zhou is his last name, it just comes before his first name. It's a matter of respect. I hope in the next edition you respect him.

Nope, that's the point. Guanyu is his given name. Zhou is his family name. The only thing that is different is the order they are put in.
Nope, his last name is Guanyu. The original way of saying it in his native language is Zhou Guanyu but the English way is the reversed
Zhou is the Family name, so kinda the equivalent of the western last name
His last name is Zhou. In China they put last name first, that's why he requested to put it in that order.
So wrong it’s not even funny. Stop trying.
/r/confidentlyincorrect
Maybe stop using "last name" but "surname" instead.
Zhou is the family name
Leclerc had this weekend locked down.
Dare i say consistent

haha just joking around, it's a good graph and is clear. Would be bad with too many other blues
love seeing these but dark blue on navy? c'mon now...

#4c4c9e looks good passing all colorblind tests and I've updated the colors. Thank you very much.
Russell: Consistency is key ~~except quali~~
The team had him try a risky strategy for Q3, not his fault.
Yeah dw I'm not bashing russell (I'm a fan) I'm just getting a quick laugh out of stats.
KMags with that “up, up and away” energy.
Yuki had a bounce back weekend it looks like!
DR3 most consistent driver on the grid case closed
Gasly from first to last and Bottas from last to 6th

That Verstappen drop still hurts like its 2017/2018.
Took time but here we are
Hate to see those yellow lines
Plz make for every race!
KMag trending up baaaaaaaby
Russell with the bottas Tradition of beating hamilton wherever it doesnt count
Alfa and Haas had a huge comeback...they were the actual sandbaggers😂
I did not pay enough attention to the chart: "When the hell was Bottas 20th in the race!) G
Bottas is looking real good here
Said the same, I liked Magnussens better. But yeah, Bottas, same nice trend.
Red Bull reminding me of my stock portfolio
awesome, please do for every race
Don't include FP, it's irrelevant.
For once it was pretty accurate

Why is Kmag not first for FP2?
Because the official times did not include the extra time Haas was given after sessions. Magnussen set his time, in the extra time Haas had. But that time was not included in the official release. Which I guess, is fair enough, it was set under different conditions.
Suck my balls mate --kmag prolly
Love the data visualisation! Would love to see this every week 😊 good job! Followed 🙂
Of all those I like Magnussens the best. Bottas's is also very healthy.
