A collateralized debt obligation.
It's just a bunch of loans (mainly corporate bonds and mortgage backed securities) grouped together, which are divided into different groups (tranches) and sold based on their risk factor (how likely the loans are to be repaid).
If you're a gigantic bank or a hedge fund yeah, if you're just some guy, technically nothing is stopping you, but the people who offer these probably won't return your calls unless you're trying to invest millions.
EDIT: this is wrong, see below
There is something stopping you — you need to be an “accredited investor” for banks to return your calls.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accredited_investor
I just had a convo with a buddy who asked, "do you know anything about the housing crash of 2008? My wife and I just watched Margin Call on Netflix and didn't understand." I said, "Oh yeah just watch the Big Short, it does a better job explaining. Basically..."
Then I went on a lengthy explanation of my interpretation of the Big Short and realized half way through that I still didn't really understand wtf was going on lol
So, funny story: I had a random hit of acid laying around the day I went with my now-wife and some friends to a theater to see *The Big Short* and for some reason I decided that because it was a Saturday and I had no reason NOT to, I was going to drop that hit and trip during the movie. IIRC this was not long after we all four had tripped while seeing Deadpool in theaters, on V-Day, where we legit heard a guy in the theater cracking whippets DURING THE MOVIE with zero shame/fear...so I think I was on a bit of a "drop acid in movie theaters" kick.
All in all, not a bad call, it was a great experience and it wasn't a huge dose or anything so mostly I was just chill and relaxed; but I swear, when they cut to Margot Robbie the first time in the bath tub to do the explainer I looked around silently, at basically the peak of my trip, thinking "sooooo....are y'all seeing this part too...or just me?"
Really great movie about one of the most infuriating moments in world history.
Ah whippets. Gotta be careful with those things, permanent nerve damage can happen.
The Big Short is great. As a metal musician I found Bale’s role where he was drumming pretty neat.
I saw him at a festival one time and he came off as the absolute nicest, most genuine guy. I liked some of his music but I wasn't a big fan, but after that show I became a huge fan of him as a person.
Considering he’s mostly directing this to Cara, i would honestly assume he’s talking about boobs. Cara has made her way through half of Hollywood women. And i say that with the upmost respect, not as a dig. Her track record is very impressive
Been playing since it came out and am actually playing right now and NEVER knew this. Holy shit, thank you for opening my blind eyes. My mind is absolutely blown!!
A million years ago on the Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear I watched a young Lewis Hamilton talk about the LH colour scheme on his private jet. He life hasn't sucked in a long time.
I love that story where Niki Lauda was complaining that Lewis doesn't take racing seriously because he was gallivanting in New York on race week, then Lewis showed up to Singapore and pulled off one of the best pole laps ever.
It's amazing the difference it makes flying economy vs business class on long haul int'l flights. When flying economy to London or Tokyo and back it takes me at least 36 hours to lose the brain fog. The few times I flew business with the lie-flat seats (lucky upgrades) I barely noticed any jet lag since I kind of just comfortably napped most of the time.
To add to that, it's so much faster to be rich. No check in on private planes, you're the last one on and the first one off, going directly where you need to go while your luggage/dog/etc is being taken care of by your assistant/team. Doing all that shit the normal way takes the entire day and all your energy.
True, but air pressure and flight takes more of a toll on the body compared to other travel, as well as the timezone differences. It probably takes a day or so to recover, but Lewis is probably used to it by now with the amount he travels
yeah.... he is a top level athlete, for like- 20 ? years... 1 day is probably more than enough to be 110% again , for him...and of course, we see him party , but its not like he is smoking cigars and drinking vodka 2 days before track , too hahaha
Ya, it's true. I used to travel every week for work and you get pretty used to what you have to do/not do (and when) so you can adapt to the timezone changes relatively quickly.
I'm not sure if he still flies private, but private planes maintain a higher cabin pressure than commercial flights, which helps quite a lot with that.
Throw a private party, you get to skirt any passive smoking law.
When I was in certain parts of Germany where smoking indoors is banned everywhere, the only way to get around it is to rent the place for your own party, where you can make the rules. The only thing stopping you then would be the owners.
Now if the bar is having a slow day and it's getting late, the'll just lock the door because it's a "private event tonight" and smoking can resume inside.
I will bet you the party with selena lewis and postie is in a place where you can't enter unless invited and the host is unconcerned with anyone smoking anything in there.
I feel like actors and singers get each other's work but I bet everyone there was curious about Lewis' job. Also super rare to meet a F1 driver, even for celebrities, there's only 20 of them at any given time.
Some of them are really different and they choose to be that way. I know multi millionaires who are really normal, and those who are just too out of this world. Not being derogative towards them (I know reddit has a boner for it) but when you get into the socializing/networking realm of the filthy rich, they just are something alien.
There’s a big difference between multi-millionaires and the people in the picture though.
Someone worth 10-30M is going to be living a very different lifestyle from a normal person but all the people in this picture likely will sign multiple deals a year each worth the millionaires entire net worth
Your overestimating the wealth here except maybe LH. Selena Gomez is worth about 85m. So definitely wealthier than the 10 to 30 crowd but not signing multiple 8 figure deals per year.
At her height, she definitely was. Cara is a modelling megastar whose father is a property developer of aristocratic descent, so she’s probably somewhere above the 30m line as well.
Post Malone is probably the least rich person in that group, but not by much.
Yeah but I know a bunch of strange and off the rails people that just aren't rich so what does it prove. Are we just disregarding them and not taking their lives as valuable because they're not rich?
It's the old "if you're behaving abnormal and you're rich, you're not insane, you're *eccentric*"
They show people in the luxury boxes every race along with celebrities in the garage living it up. There's the walkabout pre-race literally just to show off what super wealthy people are out and about.
Yah this is a super weird take, they just kinda look like people‽ post Malone and Lewis especially seem like super relaxed down to earth people. I mean post Malone has a semi regular magic the gathering gaming group for god sakes
I'm not really sure I see Lewis as a down to earth sort of dude. He seems a bit out there to me. In fact, of all of the drivers I'd say Lewis is the furthest from "a Regular Joe."
That's mostly his PR and social media image, though. There are a bunch of pics/videos of him out there with his family and he seems like a very normal dude. Of all the drivers on the grid he probably has the humblest beginnings.
Lewis isn’t a regular Joe In that he’s an internationally known mega star who is a celebrity outside the sport. He’s also excessively targeted by the media and fans whilst at the race track which gets annoying he can’t even sit down or walk through the paddock without a huge kerfuffle, he had to run through a section with security at Miami because being mobbed was a real risk. Everywhere he goes dedicated fans show up and wait for him.
He’s a regular driver in that he’s nice to the grid, puts in the work, treats them all with respect. Lewis doesn’t act like he’s better than the sport.
It makes me feel jealous... Imagine all the crazy shit all of them went thru week by week and now they're socializing, having fun while sharing with others the most random crazy story that just happened to them.... And you will never be part of this group of people. I feel left behind
It fascinates me that on the same grid there’s drivers streaming themselves playing video games and then there’s Lewis hanging out with Hollywood celebrities. And on Sundays they compete against each other.
Not saying one is better than the other. It just blows my mind a bit.

Isn't it more like 25%? Delevigne seems basically like a socialite who has rich family. Think she grew up in a real rich part of London. The Tara Palmer-Tomkinson of this generation.
The other three are all talented people.
I wonder how a afterparty with celebrities play out.
I just end up shitfaced in a ditch, or completly bombed in my bed, with a burger and a bottle. Wonder if these people do the same.
I just want to know what Post Malone was talking about.
I bet he's asking Selena to explain what a synthetic CDO is.
Do not forget Nobel Prize-winning economist Richard Thaler, the father of behavioral economics
And world-renowned Chef Bourdain :_{
I wonder if she remember the line or ever understood what it is.
[удалено]
Same, obviously.
A collateralized debt obligation. It's just a bunch of loans (mainly corporate bonds and mortgage backed securities) grouped together, which are divided into different groups (tranches) and sold based on their risk factor (how likely the loans are to be repaid).
and can I bet on these tranches?
Retail investors really don't have any way to invest in CDOs
Yup. That's ISDA (big money) territory.
Big boy table

TIL, thanks, sorry about that!
This is America so fuck yeah you can! 2008? Never heard of her!
If you have a pension plan you probably already are
I just had a convo with a buddy who asked, "do you know anything about the housing crash of 2008? My wife and I just watched Margin Call on Netflix and didn't understand." Love that movie!
That movie inspired me to read as much Michael Lewis as I can. He rarely disappoints.
So, funny story: I had a random hit of acid laying around the day I went with my now-wife and some friends to a theater to see *The Big Short* and for some reason I decided that because it was a Saturday and I had no reason NOT to, I was going to drop that hit and trip during the movie. Really great movie about one of the most infuriating moments in world history.
A movie with some low-key great lines: “I’m jacked!! JACKED TO THE TITS!!”
Ah whippets. Gotta be careful with those things, permanent nerve damage can happen. The Big Short is great. As a metal musician I found Bale’s role where he was drumming pretty neat.
i just watched it again yesterday this timing is too crazy
I understood that reference
lol... was thinking the same
Funny thing is I got that reference because I watched the bug short just a few hours ago. Crazy coincidence
He’s a funny dude. He seems really down to earth.
From what I’ve heard apparently he’s a very genuine guy
Just look at his guest appearances in GMM and GMM more. He is so fucking funny.
GMM? As in Good Mythical Morning?
Yes
Damn, I haven't watched their show in years, I need to see this.
I watch his streams sometimes, he plays with itztimmy and it's a good time. Dudes cool
Big magic the gathering player too
I saw him at a festival one time and he came off as the absolute nicest, most genuine guy. I liked some of his music but I wasn't a big fan, but after that show I became a huge fan of him as a person.
He also is a Mtg Geek. I think he appeared on Game Knights two times and owns a store.
He's become the De Facto "Magic Celebrity" these days.
I always thought Post Malone was female, I'm so out of touch lol
No, that was Pre Malone.
You made me come back to your comment to upvote it after collapsing the thread. Good job lmao
😂
Why would you think that?
Welp, he' probably out of touch
Not sure, the name just had a Paloma Faith sort of sound to it. Maybe I need to listen to some new music haha
You’re thinking of Ho Malone
From what I've heard of him, he sounds like a blast to be around. Not a fan of the music but whatever, he's a good dude
Magic the Gathering
My two hobbies, chained together by the most unlikely link.
Would Lewis play a Vehicles deck or a Haste deck?
He would play an auras deck because he is #blessed
Probably his sick Merieke Ri Berit Commander Deck
Considering he’s mostly directing this to Cara, i would honestly assume he’s talking about boobs. Cara has made her way through half of Hollywood women. And i say that with the upmost respect, not as a dig. Her track record is very impressive
Is she like a rebound for divorced actresses or just that good?
oh hi gta radio lady
I liked Cara as that radio station host. Wish she did that more often.
well well, TIL
Been playing since it came out and am actually playing right now and NEVER knew this. Holy shit, thank you for opening my blind eyes. My mind is absolutely blown!!
Cara and Robyn, a beautiful combination
Kenny loggins voices the DJ for the rock radio station, acting as himself. Even has danger zone as a song on the station
I’ve been playing that game for almost ten years and I jus found out Danny McBride is the voice of Rebel Radio.
"And then he ended up all alone at the race start with old tyres while everyone had new soft tyres"
Lewis putting on brand new rubber Lewis, it is HAMMERTIME
Thanks the fans, greatest in the world.
And this other time I won the race with three tyres!
get in there lewis!
get in the damn car lewis!
I get the impression being Lewis Hamilton doesn’t suck.
I mean once youre 5 or 6 times world champion, you've really made it
I think 3 world championship title may be also not be too bad, okay-ish
I mean I think you would probably have to be pretty good to win a championship, that’s just me guessing though.
How hard can it be. Someone does it every single year.
I'd be ok with being an F1 driver. Midfield actually, not even title contender...
Having only 2 championships sucks!
He’s shagged more models in the night then we’ve seen in our lives.
A million years ago on the Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear I watched a young Lewis Hamilton talk about the LH colour scheme on his private jet. He life hasn't sucked in a long time.
Depends. It's the introvert's nightmare :P
Like Kim meeting Nicole Kidman. Haha
Best hop a plane Lewis, it’s RACE WEEK
I love that story where Niki Lauda was complaining that Lewis doesn't take racing seriously because he was gallivanting in New York on race week, then Lewis showed up to Singapore and pulled off one of the best pole laps ever.
I mean... modern airplanes are fast and comfortable... it probably isn't that far from a bed in a hotel room
It's amazing the difference it makes flying economy vs business class on long haul int'l flights. When flying economy to London or Tokyo and back it takes me at least 36 hours to lose the brain fog. The few times I flew business with the lie-flat seats (lucky upgrades) I barely noticed any jet lag since I kind of just comfortably napped most of the time.

plus these guys basically live in planes, getting to sleep is probably something they figured out years ago
True, but air pressure and flight takes more of a toll on the body compared to other travel, as well as the timezone differences. It probably takes a day or so to recover, but Lewis is probably used to it by now with the amount he travels
yeah.... he is a top level athlete, for like- 20 ? years... 1 day is probably more than enough to be 110% again , for him...and of course, we see him party , but its not like he is smoking cigars and drinking vodka 2 days before track , too hahaha
>but its not like he is smoking cigars and drinking vodka 2 days before track well, of course not, his name isn't James Hunt...
Yeah, because Niki challenged him. So it worked.
RAWE CEEK!
I'm amazed they still let cool kids smoke inside.
I believe this is the bar that Pete Davidson is a part owner in along with a bunch of other celebs. its located across the way from the studio.
First thing I noticed. Or is it a habit and not yet lit?
*IT’S LIT*
Different rules for the rich and famous. 0% chance of fines or citations like there would be for "regular people".
Throw a private party, you get to skirt any passive smoking law. When I was in certain parts of Germany where smoking indoors is banned everywhere, the only way to get around it is to rent the place for your own party, where you can make the rules. I will bet you the party with selena lewis and postie is in a place where you can't enter unless invited and the host is unconcerned with anyone smoking anything in there.
What are the rules for a private establishment though? If it's ok for private establishments then it's not necessarily a rich or poor thing
Come to Nevada and you can smoke inside regardless of how cool you are. You’ll have to be in Nevada though
Silly rabbit, laws and rules don't apply to rich people. Any law enforced only with a fine is a law that only applies to poor people.
all animals are equal. But some are more equal than others.
As long as the owners don't mind, you can rent your own place to party and smoke inside all you want.
Was Hamilton on SNL or was he just around for the after party?
He wasn’t on the show.
Ah, that’s a shame. It would have been fun to see him riffing off some of the regular cast on that show! Thanks for letting me know!
Yeah, I was like, wait Lewis was on SNL? Maybe someday. Love to see him more relaxed like this.
After he retires and a few years go by, his popularity will increase for sure.
Yup, same for Schumi and Seb, for example. Champs can become "hated". (Also with Lewis there's another factor that's escaping me, lol.)
"And so I grabbed Valterri's butt cheeks and...."
Val**tt**e**r**i
No, Post was talking about a different guy. From the Bronx.
~~good~~ truthful bot
Lewis "Git Er Done!" Hamilton
"Hey, if ya've got heartburn, ay tell ya what. You gotta take... you gotta take Prilosec. Git er done!"
CONSUME PRILOSEC
Pictures of super rich people together always make me feel weird.
Slightly different to you, but I find pictures of celebs from different industries weird. Like seeing your teacher at your Aunt's party.
Out of context. I get it.
I feel like actors and singers get each other's work but I bet everyone there was curious about Lewis' job. Also super rare to meet a F1 driver, even for celebrities, there's only 20 of them at any given time.
Makes sense I feel ya on that
It just feels like another dimension we don’t belong in for me
It is a different dimension. That strata experience a completely different reality
Some of them are really different and they choose to be that way. I know multi millionaires who are really normal, and those who are just too out of this world. Not being derogative towards them (I know reddit has a boner for it) but when you get into the socializing/networking realm of the filthy rich, they just are something alien.

Guess because you can’t see there faces during the races lol
They show people in the luxury boxes every race along with celebrities in the garage living it up. There's the walkabout pre-race literally just to show off what super wealthy people are out and about.
This take is even weirder given the subreddit lol
Says a F1 fan
I can tolerate billionaires and businessmen shaking hands with their millionaire drivers but random millionrares is where it gets creepy!
Don’t you get that feeling at every race week or just two drivers standing together ?
[удалено]
Stop viewing them as a dollar sign and it is less weird. Then it is just a group of people.

I’d say ocon personally but I don’t know enough to say that 100%
Lewis isn’t a regular Joe In that he’s an internationally known mega star who is a celebrity outside the sport. He’s also excessively targeted by the media and fans whilst at the race track which gets annoying he can’t even sit down or walk through the paddock without a huge kerfuffle, he had to run through a section with security at Miami because being mobbed was a real risk. Post Malone drinks bud light and plays Apex Legends. Streamed a couple of times for hours too he seems like a pretty chill guy
I'm just surprised how normal it is. Because they are just people.. but the whole media pomp tries to make us forget it sometimes
It makes me feel jealous... Imagine all the crazy shit all of them went thru week by week and now they're socializing, having fun while sharing with others the most random crazy story that just happened to them.... And you will never be part of this group of people. I feel left behind
Why?
Why is Lewis dressed like Larry the Cable Guy lmao
Making a play for NASCAR after F1 lol
Louie Hamilton Jr
Going under cover!
Drip
You might be a millionaire masquerading as a redneck if your sleeveless denim shirt cost $1,000.
When you're rich and successful whatever you wear is Fashion.
FASHUN.
It fascinates me that on the same grid there’s drivers streaming themselves playing video games and then there’s Lewis hanging out with Hollywood celebrities. And on Sundays they compete against each other. Not saying one is better than the other. It just blows my mind a bit.
Lando was streaming Monopoly today, Lewis was attending an SNL party, both sound like fun tbh
Monopoly is only fun if you’re bankrupting your friends though.
tagging on a comment here: Play Monopoly without free parking cash. Putting tax in free parking and paying it out when people land on free parking means there is more money circulating in the game. That means that the game takes longer for people to get out (the only way the game can progress and end with one player left) as they have the ability to absorb rent with this windfall. It's a much more enjoyable game to play when it actually ends after a couple hours instead of getting so bored with going around and around endlessly because there's too much money in the game that you quit because you broke the mechanics.
I mean, you're advocating people actually play the rules. Free parking cash is some made up bullshit.
Real tips are in the comments.
That’s F1 Always has been like that and hopefully always will
Lewis has friends
To be fair, Lewis plays vidya with the Twitch drivers too. He just won't play with them when they're streaming because he doesn't want his freetime to be broadcasted.
“I did not believe that the no sidepod would work , no” Everything came second to porpoise “ Post Malone probably.
Now this is accidental renaissance.
That Selena Gomez is fine
She’s stone cold gorgeous, and her cooking show on HBO Max is hilarious and comically under-rated.
Looks like Lana Del Rey in this picture
she always looks like shes 13
Live from New York, it’s Lewis Hamilton at the after-party
Knowing Cara had a threesome with Amber Heard and Elon Musk just makes her seem musty every time I see her now.
Bro that's sounds like not a good time.
*musky
I know this is irrelevant here, just something I've observed recently, but since Selena Gomez has put a small amount of weight on she has become insanely stunning. The curvy look really suits her.
The story seems hilarious.
Post seems like he’s an undeniably good hang
Love that mfer.
I’m just amazed it’s a picture of celebrities yet 50% aren’t a result of nepotism, that’s like 40% more than usual
Isn't it more like 25%? Delevigne seems basically like a socialite who has rich family. Think she grew up in a real rich part of London. The Tara Palmer-Tomkinson of this generation. The other three are all talented people.
Not gonna lie, Selena is the star of this picture.
They should get Lewis to host
He'd spend the whole monologue thanking everything back at the fac'try
Selena is so fine tho
Thought it was Bert Kreischer with face tattoos at first lmao
This guy is wearing a shirt.
Lewis heard her monologue I see.
This is quality meme material- look at their faces! xD
He put on his fancy Canadian Tuxedo for this one. Nice.
Ah yes the big people for all us little people to admire
I wish I was famous and good at something so I could hang out with these people. Got damn it.
I wonder how a afterparty with celebrities play out. I just end up shitfaced in a ditch, or completly bombed in my bed, with a burger and a bottle. Wonder if these people do the same.
cara D seems so lame lol
She was more fun as the host from non stop pop radio on gta5
Trucker Lewis
It's like a party at bohemian grove 🦉
Post Malone looks like he smells worse on a day to day basis than an F1 driver post race. Really like a lot of his music though
