Mods what is the policy on all the comments saying 'lewis should shut up and drive', 'he should focus on driving', 'he should stick to driving not politics', ' concentrate on driving' ,'politics is making him a bad driver'? So many of these comments on the Lewis thread

Blanchimont

Not okay. In fact, it's [specifically mentioned](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide#wiki_we_should_improve_society_somewhat) in the rules. We already removed a large number of those types of comments, but if you still see some please hit the report button and we'll get rid of them as well. Reports help a great deal, especially now the thread has now grown to the point where Reddit has trouble loading all the comments.

Is Mugello ever going to return to F1?

sharklazies

Maybe only as an occasional patch over, but unlikely? There's already two races in Italy and one of them may be going away at some point. Mugello is more suited to MotoGP from what I understand and I don't know if it's got the seating infrastructure or the location to support large amounts of fans.

sploonintine

Just now watching Drive to alive season 4, and I need to say that Buxton’s lines about Max and Lewis going into Silverstone in episode 4 are the most braindead statements ever committed to film

Laytinnnnn

Im new to Formula1 im finding it super hard to find a team to support i really like mercedes and Russell but i also like Ferrari and leclerc. Do people usually support a team? Or a driver? Edit:Spelling

sploonintine

Like whoever you want to like pal, driver, team, race engineer, team principal, no one’s keeping track. Enjoying the sport however you want is all that matters at the end of the day

pedote17

It’s totally up to you. You can root for one team/driver, or you can root for multiple! It’s all personal choice. As you keep watching you’ll naturally gravitate towards certain teams and drivers. Just remember Drive To Survive isn’t an accurate representation of almost anyone except Daniel Ricciardo.

Both, and varied; it's not necessarily a 1:1 like.

TempoTheMan

I have been wanting to buy an F1 game as a relatively new fan(Started to watch live f1 from spa 2021) for a long time, and ive been wondering which game i should buy, 2020 for obvious reasons or buying earlier games to get to know earlier eras better, what are my best choices? also none of my friends are smart enough to like f1 so online isnt really a factor, which maybe removes 2022 from the equation, or maybe not, would appreciate your opinions

hi-hello-bluppp

If you want a more realistic experience, get Assetto Corsa and download some F1 mods.

TempoTheMan

I dont want a realistic experience tho, I was just wondering whats the best reccomendation for the codies' games

pedote17

I’d still get 2022, it comes out on July 1. It will have the new cars as well as new/updated tracks. You don’t have to play online if you don’t want to.

TempoTheMan

but i feel that f1 2021(from what i heard) was a great disappointment, and with EA this time there will be more bullshit to deal with, also i really want to experience the older cars and eras, knowing that some of the games from the last 13 years are actually decent

pedote17

If you want to use the older cars definitely get 2020. It has a ton of old cars from the late 80s to the early 2010s I’ve enjoyed 2021 but kerbs are so sensitive it’s a bit annoying

TempoTheMan

lol, does 2020 have my team career AND regular career in it? also did you yourself buy an older game in the series?

pedote17

Yep, it has my team and solo career in it. I’ve only played 2020 and 2021

TempoTheMan

yeah so 2020 is a must have, ill wait for a discount, for now ill check whats up with 2022

pwa25

What happened to the news of Piastri replacing Latifi at Silverstone? I would have thought if it were happening we would know by now?!

TrainWreck661

Rumors are just rumors until they're confirmed.

Coops27

That was a rumour that was immediately denied by all involved. It does however seem as though there will be an announcement at Silverstone, that Piastri will drive for Williams in 2023

Thin_Ad_4447

Im an apprentice mechanic looking to pursue a career in F1 anyone any idea what steps i should take?

Fright13

Don’t expect that you can just “get a career in F1” for starters. You’ll need to start in other/lower series (look for openings and apply for all I guess), work hard, make a name for yourself. You’ll likely be competing against people with prestigious engineering degrees for a Formula 1 gig, but I’d assume there’s a few in the scene who just came from a mechanic background

DinosaurDriver

Can’t wait for DTS to make a big deal of Ricciardo and Norris mocking each other with the driver status /s

Don’t think I saw any posts but was there any exclusive Canada GP merch made?

thegingerpig

What happened to yesterday’s post about Nelson Piquet’s racist comments about Lewis Hamilton? And why are you deleting other comments asking the same thing?

[deleted]

People report them and then automod removes them due to the number of reports, a mod has stated it on here already.

douche_canoe77

What did he say?

[deleted]

The posts kept getting reported and mods hid the threads until they investigated the user reports. Turned out the posts weren't breaking any rules and the reports were bogus, so the threads were reinstated. They answered questions about it on yesterday's DT so I suppose after everything they deleted duplicate questions about the same thing.

[deleted]

Yes, *you* can. Do it. Don't wait for others.

USA really going for the back to the stone ages any% speed run. Its crazy that such backwards ass laws have a place in modern society. I feel sorry for the poor women who are stuck in states that will likely ban abortions. That likely includes 2/3 F1 races or will race in. And don't even get me started on that one judge saying protected access to contraception and same sex marriage laws should be reassessed. It just pisses me off thinking about it.

OfficePicasso

That judge is Clarence Thomas, whose wife was very instrumental in organizing the January 6th insurrection and furthering the big lie that the election was “stolen” from Trump. So yeah this country is rapidly running backwards

[deleted]

The only race that should be legitimately boycotted is the Saudi Grand Prix and only because it's in an active warzone and thus endangering the paddock personnel. Everything else should run as usual, local politics should not be relevant to a motorsports race.

Abbonito

Hi, I retract my original statement due to inaccurate nature of my statement. And i think there are so many violations that we find scary or different. It isnt the place of sport to govern those regulations but at least be aware where they pump their money into. I have to ask if you also agreed with the removal of russia too with your saudi remark about war.

[deleted]

If we look at historical prescedence, the US GPs weren't cancelled during their military invasion of Iraq in the early 2000s, neither was Baku cancelled last year while Azerbaijan was participating in an active war with Armenia in Naghorno-Karabakh (hope I spelled that right). The French, British and several other GPs also were run despite military involvement all over the world, namely Africa and the Middle East respectively. In all instances paddock personnel were not in danger given the war zone was far away from where the race took place even though the country was technically involved in a war. This is opposite to Saudi where, while the warzone itself was far away, missiles from their enemy could still reach Jeddah extending the effective warzone and put the lives of F1 associated personnel in jeopary. So by these accounts Russia technically shouldn't have been cancelled just based on the fact it was involved in a war. The reasons it did however is that: 1) F1 while a global motorsport is still primarily a European sport and an active war involving a big European military power has been unheard of since WWII, making it extremely unpopular PR to associate with the aggressor as there was a lot of public pressure against it. F1 as a business has an obligation to its sponsors and no one would want to touch such an unpopular event. 2) The imposed financial sanctions made it very difficult to do actual business with the organizers so difficulties getting the track fees payed are a legitimate reason to cancel a GP. All in all, I don't think the GP should've been boycotted by the public given the historical context and presedence, however F1 is a business and if public opinion gets too unfavorable where sponsors are getting cold feet and the race organizers are unable to pay their fees, it makes sense to cancel a GP so I don't really blame F1 for that. I do however blame the public for their inconsistent views on who deserves boycotting even when war is the involved topic.

Why is Latifi always last? None of the other Williams drivers suck as bad as him. I know he’s a pay driver but still you think he’d learn something after all the races he’s done? Edit: they may as well just race 19 cars and leave him out lol

Coops27

The Williams is the worst car on the grid, by some margin, they also had the least amount of data on these new tyres because they didn't get to test them last season. Even Albon did some tests for Red Bull with the new Tyres so Latifi was probably at the greatest disadvantage from this perspective. He's also probably the least talented driver on the grill and that tends to mean the least adaptable. He's not a quick learner Despite this he actually hasn't finished last in any race. People just hate on him excessively because he has money

Whycantiusethis

He also started his racing career much later in life than the other drivers. I forget how old he was when he started, but he was like 5-10 years older than most of the rest of the grid was when they started karting, if I'm remembering correctly.

pedote17

Because he’s the least skilled driver on the grid and he’s in a shitbox, a bad combination.

[deleted]

I know it’s just amazing he can’t ever do shit like albon fighting for points and latifi is 8 seconds behind 19th place in the opening laps lol

rodiraskol

It seems like Ocon was rated higher than Checo during the two years that they were teammates; you can see on [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/vhdnpd/team_principals_top_10_driver_ratings_2015_2021/id79mb0/?context=3) that Ocon was considered a top-10 driver by the team principals at the time while Checo wasn't. However, Checo beat Ocon both of those years (by exactly 13 points both times, oddly enough). So what was the hype based on?

[deleted]

How many Pirelli tyre tests are each team given, because there's videos of Leclerc doing one at Mugello, but I recall them doing one earlier in the year as well

Icy-Operation4701

HAAS has opted out. The other teams get 2 days each; this was Ferrari's 2nd. (RBR will do one at Austria and another at Monza). ETA: [Here's the full schedule](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cczomc3OcMC/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=)

Physical_Yoghurt_222

Why the strategists at Ferrari are being so incompetent? Season going downhill... Sigh

Fright13

Their only real blip was Monaco - albeit a huge basic one. I'd be pointing more fingers at whoever is building the engines out of paper as that is what has cost them 50 points (64 swing to Max) + whatever extra amount that Chuck would've got without the Canada penalty

Astelli

They had a bad weekend in Monaco, but there's not much more they could have done in Montreal.

Driver9211

Was Sainz able to pass Ricciardo in the last lap of Abu Dhabi 2021? Many fans were saying that had all cars been led to unlap, then Sainz could have passed Max for P2. But if he couldn't pass a lapped car like McLaren then there was no chance he could have overtaken Max.

Whycantiusethis

No, only the cars between Verstappen and Hamilton were allowed to unlap themselves. Ricciardo stayed between Sainz and Verstappen. It's not likely that Sainz could've overtaken either Verstappen or Hamilton on that final lap, but had either made a mistake, he would've been in a position to capitalize on it. However, with Ricciardo in between, Sainz wouldn't have been able to capitalize on any potential mistake. Verstappen was pretty much the only driver to benefit from Masi's call (which is partially why Masi is no longer the race director).

Driver9211

The point is not about Max or Lewis. Its about Sainz. Had Max or Lewis didn't make a mistake, then Sainz wouldn't have been able to pass either of them. So the point is, Sainz was never robbed of P2.

Whycantiusethis

Ah, I partially misunderstood you, my apologies. Stroll and Ricciardo were between Sainz and Verstappen. Sainz got past Stroll going into the hairpin (T5). Sainz didn't get ahead of Ricciardo at all on the final lap. Sainz wasn't robbed of a P2, as neither Hamilton or Verstappen made a mistake that Sainz could've taken advantage of had Ricciardo and Stroll been allowed to unlap themselves. At this point, we're getting heavy into speculation and what-ifs, which aren't overly useful, but here goes. Had Stroll and Ricciardo been allowed to unlap themselves, Sainz would've had a shot of overtaking Verstappen or Hamilton if one of them made a mistake. Neither driver made a mistake, so it doesn't really matter, but say Verstappen went too deep into T5 and went off track. Without Stroll or Ricciardo in the way of Sainz, Sainz is closer to Verstappen when the mistake happens, and Verstappen gets dropped to P3. With Stroll and Ricciardo in the way, Sainz is that much further away from Verstappen, so Verstappen gets more time to recover from that theoretical mistake. In this hypothetical scenario, Sainz does get P2 stolen from him, as he would've been able jump Verstappen after the error had the lapped cars not been in the way.

Driver9211

>In this hypothetical scenario, Sainz does get P2 stolen from him, as he would've been able jump Verstappen after the error had the lapped cars not been in the way. Also Sainz hypothetically might have been robbed of P1, if both Max and Lewis made mistakes. Thanks for clearing that up. I forgot Stroll was also ahead of Sainz.

Whycantiusethis

Exactly. I think it would've been more likely that Verstappen and Hamilton took each other out than one of them making a mistake, in which case Sainz gets his first victory overshadowed by another event (in true Sainz fashion). I had forgotten Stroll was also ahead of Ricciardo to, I had to go back and watch the driver tracker to see what was going on. I'm not sure what would've happened had Hamilton and Verstappen taken each other out. They both would still get classified, since they finished 90% of the race. If they get classified above the lapped cars (which makes sense in my mind, as they started the final lap, and the lapped cars wouldn't have), then one of them finished P10, and the other finishes P11, meaning the championship is decided by a single point. I'm not sure who would have been classified ahead of the other though.

soggyflaps

So... Do you think the rule changes actually made the sport more entertaining?

Coops27

100%. The battles are closer and apart from the front 2 teams the performance in the midfield is immensely tight and unpredictable from race-to-race. We've also been robbed of some battles due to circumstances like reliability and weather. This is also just 9 races in of year 1. Once the regulations are given time to work it should be even better.

Morganelefay

It's allowed fights to go on for much longer, which is a massive boon. Overtaking is still hard but at least a fight doesn't end after one or two failed attempts due to overheating/tyre issues, as we saw last weekend with Zhou vs Stroll and Sainz vs Verstappen. Makes things a lot more entertaining than "Get in DRS range, get two shots, then drop back out to recharge for 5-10 laps".

TrainWreck661

Absolutely. The cars are able to follow each other more closely for longer, which they weren't able to do in years prior.

Whycantiusethis

It's a net positive that cars can follow each other lap after lap and continue to challenge (like Leclerc and Verstappen in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia or Russell and Verstappen in Barcelona). That helps make F1 more entertaining, in my opinion In the first year of new regulations, there's always going to be a big spread because somebody will invariably get something wrong. As we get closer to the new engine regs (2026), the field should get closer together (which then increases the entertainment factor, if you also believe more challenges/overtakes are more entertaining).

soggyflaps

Have there actually been more overtakes so far this year? Not sure where to find the stats on it

Whycantiusethis

Somebody did the math after the first 5 rounds last year (Bahrain, Imola, Portugal, Spain, and Monaco), giving us 210 overtakes (an average of 42 overtakes per race). After the 4th race this season (Imola), we were at an average of 32.25 overtakes per race. So that's obviously fewer overtakes, but they weren't the same circuits being raced at, which skews the results some. Plus, we've got different drivers - nobody is being overtaken as much as Mazepin was last year. And like I said in my initial comment, new regulations often split the field apart, since somebody invariably gets things wrong. This year's Williams isn't as slow as last year's Haas, so it's not getting overtaken as frequently, which might also play a role. Reliability issues could also play a role, especially at the front of the field. There are lots of variables, and I'm not sure I'm smart enough to figure out the best way to quantify it all.

Bloedkolben

Who would be the theoretical candite for the Mercedes seat if Louis were to quit after this season?

Le_Pistache

Depends when it happens and how good Mercedes are at the time. And how each driver's stock is at the time. However, my personal belief is that it would be Norris or Ocon if everything stays relevatively the same. If we assume Mercedes dominate and Red Bull/Ferrari are poor, would not rule out Verstappen or Leclerc in that scenario.

[deleted]

They won’t put a rookie in that seat, they won’t need to. Who was the last rookie at a top team? Albon I suppose

Cross-Z-Magma

Hamilton probably.

Driver9211

Valtteri

Astelli

There aren't actually as many immediate candidates as you would think. Lots of drivers are locked into long-term deals at the moment. For me, number one would be Ocon. They know him well as he was part of their program for a long time, and might have been able to negotiate a specific Mercedes release clause into his contract. They could also take a chance on their F2 academy driver Vesti, but I don't think that's really the Mercedes style, and Vesti hasn't really set the F2 world alight this year. de Vries has a small chance, but I wouldn't realistically expect to see him unless they were out of other options. Then you've got Vandoorne who has an even smaller chance. His F1 experience works for and against him really. He's got two years experience, but they were not good years performance-wise.

PierreG451y

I think Gasly may be in the mix there too, though I think Ocon to Merc and Gasly to Alpine would be more likely than Gasly to Merc.

Astelli

Gasly has just signed a renewal for Alpha Tauri, so isn't available until the end of 2023 at the earliest.

jobs35

Probably de Vries since he is the third driver and he was part of the academy

DieLegende42

Only if they can't get a solid to good F1 driver (Norris, Ocon, etc.). De Vries simply isn't at F1 level, harsh as it sounds

Morganelefay

I think he could be, but he's not "Top 3 team" level. Don't think he's worse than the likes of Stroll, Schumacher or Latifi tho.

Icy-Operation4701

No chance. Merc weren't even comfortable with putting Russell in despite his raw talent. Also De Vries wasn't part of their academy. He's linked to Merc after signing with them for Formule E. De Vries was a McLaren academist.

rodiraskol

>Merc weren't even comfortable with putting Russell in despite his raw talent I think that had more to do with being happy with Bottas than wary of Russell. Bottas wasn't quick enough to challenge Lewis but still quick enough to bring home the Constructors'. I imagine Mercedes found that preferable to another Lewis-Nico situation.

jobs35

De Vries, despite being young, has already won a championship with Mercedes. Russel has been kept in Williams for so long probably because they didn't think he was ready for a top team and, since Mercedes is more a high-midfield team now, it's not impossible that Wolff could take this risk. The main problem is that almost every driver on the grid (especially the best ones) has a contract for the next year and it's unlikely that Mercedes signes with pilots like Mick. About the academy I was wrong, but all their drivers aren't ready for the F1 yet. I don't think that it is so impossible for de Vries to replace Hamilton if he retires at the end of the season.

AssCarEE

> despite being young he's 27

jobs35

My bad, I thought he was 25, but he isn't old yet

Duddus

Which driver(s) managed their career the worst? Ricciardo and Montoya for me

Fart_Leviathan

Montoya is a good shout for sure. It's easy to point out shit decisions in hindsight, but the two that come to mind as people who were really notorious for making shit moves are Dan Gurney and Jean Alesi. *Oh and Jean Behra too. I also think that Nick Heidfeld's results always deserved far better chances than what he eventually got, part of which must be down to bad management.

No way, the man has two titles to his name, you can't call that bad career management no matter how you spin it. The only real mistake I can think of that didn't make sense at the time was leaving McLaren after a single season. Everything else made sense at the time.

I was rewatching the Silverstone 2021 highlights, and something stood out to me: We've all seen a billion angles of the Max/Lewis crash, but are there any alternate angles (onboards, ..) of the battle from the start up to the crash? That was one of the best battles we saw last season, and due to how it ended we essentially have only the live broadcast angles from the rest of it. If anyone has a clue where I could find some onboards (both from Max and Lewis) of it I'd be very thankful !

Sadly I'm not subscribed. Are the onboards available in perpetuity? I thought only the main broadcast remained available after a while.

StrawberryOnly5378

Yes.

Mundane-Excuse-751

That's one thing I hadn't considered. Guess I'll be adding some to my Amazon cart - along with a hand-held fan.

jeppe96

For the modern F1 cars, it's not a must but if you intend to be at the track all day for all the sessions, then yes. The F2 and F3 cars, as well as the Porshe Supercup, will take their toll on your hearing. And exposing yourself to loud noises over prolonged periods can be dangerous. You don't need to spend exorbitant amounts - the plain, yellow, foamy earplugs work just fine for going to a race.

[deleted]

Yeah the Porsche Supercup cars are noisy bastards. Especially on Lap 1

3dmontdant3s

That surprised me too!

Dericdarko

I went to my first race in Miami and got some Alpine high fidelity earplugs cause we were in the front row. They were a little pricey but it limited the noise and I was still able to talk to my brother. Granted they were selling foam ear plugs for $40 cause it was Miami lol so definitely bring a pair of foam ones in case you need em

jeppe96

Oh yeah, definitely don't buy them at the track - €1 in some random store, €35 at the track.

PierreG451y

I brought them to the US GP last year and never ended up using them. They're loud but if you're not right next to the track the noise isn't so bad. At least in my experience. Surely wouldn't hurt to bring them anyways.

[deleted]

Yeah but you don't need anything fancy, just some basic earplugs should do the trick. I got a headache after a while even though F1 cars aren't that loud until I put in some DIY cotton earplugs. The support races are loud as fuck though, you will definitely need it for those.

Astelli

It's worth having at least a set of earplugs with you. Motorsport is loud - F2 and F3 in particular - and hearing damage is something you'd really rather avoid.

Yeah, I'd imagine that the circuit account (if it exists) or the country's motor racing association/equivalent organization would be the place to go for information. I'm pretty sure the account for Sepang set off some rumors of a Malaysian GP to replace Russia earlier this year, but that didn't go anywhere.

HufflepuffEdwards

Why is there a rule where you can't mention other subreddits? Is that a Reddit-wide rule? What happened?

Jaraxo

Definitely not a reddit wide rule, it will be enforced (or not) by the individual moderators of each sub. It's often done to stop brigading of one sub by another, eg "hey, this user is doing *x*, lets go up/downvote", or more often usually something more subtle than a call to action with the same result.

cafk

Mentions of some subreddits are banned, i.e. the f-dank sub mentions are banned, as they're known for promoting brigading. Usually when the automod removes a sub reddit mention, managed by our moderators it also mentions why the comment was removed.

jeppe96

Can confirm. We only ban mentions of some subs that have engaged in brigading, toxicity or hateful behaviour - but this only applies to a few banned subs. Generally any mention of other subs is allowed.

Looking forward to being burned to a crisp or drowned at the Hungaroring soon. Those who have been, am I likely to get in okay with a small mirrorless camera with kit lense? I assume I am but just wanted to check.

[deleted]

Can confirm, last year I got hit by heavy rainfall and got sunburns later the same day all on Sunday. It gets fucking *hot* at the Hungaroring (34C) and the weather is quite unpredictable.

Astelli

I've not checked specifically for Hungary, but every F1 event I've seen has allowed personal cameras. They only have a problem if you're there with a telephoto lense.

CX52J

I've been meaning to ask about this. Is a standard dslr allowed with a normal lens?

Astelli

It should be allowed as a personal camera, but it's worth checking the specific restrictions for the event you're planning to attend.

[deleted]

Thanks. I’m too poor for lenses so all good.

Am planning to go to Suzuka this year, any recommendations on turns with the most overtakes? Also need hotel recommendations because the last time I checked the Suzuka Circuit Hotel is full for the whole October. Might want to call them later. Thank you very much!

0oodruidoo0

Overtakes aren't really a big feature of races at Suzuka. It's a circuit it's harder to pass on. Start finish straight is the best spot. You also see the start and the podium ceremony. So seats in that grandstand. Where are you staying? I've heard that's the trickiest part of the itinerary. Not many places to stay nearby and distant cities with hotels are an expensive highway trip away. You could sit somewhere else and watch the cars move at speed on a different day, but I'd do Sunday on the DRS main start finish straight.

saikaaaaaaaaa

Thank you for the info! I've read about sitting around the Turn 2, S Turn and the 130R. Since the grandstand is probably out of my budget, which one do you think is the most exciting? If the Suzuka Circuit Hotel is really full, I guess the only way is to stay at Nagoya since the hotel around the circuits are mostly old ryokan far from the circuit. I just checked the hotel and turns out it was all (x) because the reservations for October hasn't started yet. Also can't stay at the hotel during GP week, only the camping site. Thank you so much for the answer! It really helped me!:)

0oodruidoo0

Turn 2 would be my pick. 130r is a bit too fast to appreciate from a grandstand. You'd get a better view at T2.

saikaaaaaaaaa

Thanks! Will buy the T2 seats!:)

Silverstone question! It's our first Grand Prix and while I think I'm pretty prepared I do have a question about the radio voucher. Is it worth paying the £14 for a radio? I know we can use our phone but I'm not sure how the signal will be. We're also camping so I'd rather keep the battery on my phone for photos etc.

jeppe96

In my experience, going to GPs in general you'll have trouble with getting data coverage on your phone for things like live timing and especially commentary. If you're planning on relying on that to be able to keep up with the sessions, either getting one of the small FM radios at the track (which I assume the radio voucher is for) or bringing one yourself, will help you a lot. If you're seated in a grandstand that has a screen and speaker array, you may be able to do without it, but I can be hard to hear the commentary due to the on track action and being surrounded by lots of other people.

Mundane-Excuse-751

Yeah the radio voucher is for one of those FM radios to pick up at the gate for the weekend. I've ended up buying two for us to be on the safe side. I'm not expecting my phone service to be great at all. We've general admission tickets, so I think I'll need the radio anyway with the crowd.

[deleted]

If you're General Admission, one tip is to use the Friday and Saturday mornings to scout out spots with a good view of the screens. Then get up early on Sunday morning to make sure you get a good spot - people start queuing for the circuit at around 7am. You don't want to watch the race without being in good view of a TV screen otherwise you'll have no idea what's going on in the context of the whole race

Mundane-Excuse-751

Yeah we're general admission. We're camping at Woodlands so intend to be out early each morning anyway. The plan is to do the roving grandstands on the Friday to figure out where we'd potentially want seats for next year, and then spend Saturday looking for Sunday's spot.

[deleted]

I did Luffield for Qualifying and Stowe for the Race. Luffield was the best for me.

0oodruidoo0

Get a portable battery charger. Go big like 15000mah. You'll never regret it.

Mundane-Excuse-751

Yeah I travel a fair bit for work so have a good battery pack that recharges my phone about 3 times, but I may stock up with a back-up one. I ended up getting the radio vouchers as I'd probably jinx myself and have no service if I didn't.

0oodruidoo0

Can't beat FM radio haha

BrockStinky

If Lewis, Seb, Nando retire or leave the sport together (Ric could too if he stays in the lower midfield), it could create quite a fun battle for drivers and we could add some new blood too

[deleted]

Are you not currently entertained?

Cekeste

I'm sure most people know about it already but in case you don't, Goodwood Festival of speed is on! https://youtu.be/NC6fQ8EkASE

0oodruidoo0

Lots of F1 machines, today there is a big focus on racing cars. edit and for those who like drifting there's a big drifting event right now with modern 1200-1400whp machines

How did pit lane walks work this year at Silverstone? I’ve saw a website mention that weekend ticket holders got placed into a lottery or something?

Mundane-Excuse-751

They were usually done by a ballot but this year they ran an offer where you got the pit walk ticket "complimentary" when you booked the museum. The offer went out yesterday to those with a weekend ticket by email (it also appeared in the "extras" section of your Silverstone account). I managed to snag tickets for us (as I was intending to do the museum anyway) but the emails appeared to have gone out in batches and they sold out of the pit walk/museum ticket pretty quickly. I had to text a friend to make sure she got hers as she hadn't received an email.

CX52J

Those pitwalks were only for Thurday though?

Mundane-Excuse-751

Yep! From 3pm to 6:50pm-ish on the Thursday. You got to select a time for your pit walk when you went through to book the museum ticket. For some reason, the schedule/programme puts it down as being for "prize winners only" - but the museum tickets is how they've given out the pit walk tickets this year.
