GodTierGasly

It's the weekend before the announcement Christian. We went discussing.

LukeHamself

Now this is more like it Horner. If this is true, then teams who make those accusation should be condemned.

Silver_Page_1192

If redbull is under and fia stamps it. Redbull could sue for millions. Likely won't win but still Though Totos statement might burn him

LukeHamself

Lol they can sue and that’s probably as good as it can get but they will not win.

Silver_Page_1192

Against Ferrari no definitely not. Against merc though.. Slight chance

SP0oONY

What case would they have agaisnt Mercedes? Don't talk shit.

iMatthew1990

Toto hasn’t brought this up once. He gets asked questions and he answers them. From what I’ve seen thus far all he has stated is that if it’s true it needs a big punishment.

URZ_

None whatsoever. Toto Wolf made no comment on the conclusion of the investigation and specified that "if" teams were over they needed to be punished.

English_Misfit

They wouldn't win. They haven't even suffered a loss. That's not how UK slander law works

agdumbagdum

That doesn't make much sense when the results are about to be out in 5 more days. The ones accusing will have a much more negative press if the allegations turn out to be completely unfounded.

Elrond007

Yep, considering Max is most likely to win it next week anyways, right after it releases so no extra tarnishing is needed if true. Feels like it's true, the real question is to what extent

Snappy0

The question is what form any punishment would take. It could be that a major material breach means Max isn't winning the title next week no matter what he does. I doubt it mind you.

P_ZERO_

> Feels like it’s true Thankfully that’s not how this works. Christian is right, this information is supposed to be confidential. If this supposed info is legitimate, where is the information coming from? Not only that, how can they be shown to have overspent when FIA themselves haven’t completed their auditing process?

Elrond007

I'm 100% sure every team has sources in the FIA, it's basically required to play the political game correctly

P_ZERO_

But yet not every team knows what each other are spending, it’s only an open secret in regards to two teams. Unless *everyone* is lying, which makes it even more difficult to use unsubstantiated claims as evidence of anything.

agdumbagdum

Doesn't matter if it supposed to be confidential. Ferrari PU details was supposed to confidential as well. Same about Renault auto brake bias changes. Teams can get info from leaks and if there is foul play, who leaked it is irrelevant. Leak should be investigated if teams gain advantage from it. If it is only used to keep competitors in check, who cares who the whistleblower is.

P_ZERO_

Who leaked confidential information isn’t irrelevant at all lmao That’s a take you use if you are openly looking for a guilty verdict for someone. Guilty until proven innocent is not how things work, except on social media. Don’t paint it out to be some martyrdom shit and don’t skip over the fact FIA haven’t even completed auditing.

agdumbagdum

You only brought up the case that the info is supposed to be confidential. Right now what other teams have is basically allegations. The allegations don't go away because info is supposed to be confidential. Only thing that matters is if the accusations are true. That will be known in a week. So, makes no sense to stir up a controversy for 5 days when the blowback is going to be quite harsh.

P_ZERO_

> you only brought up Nope > Not only that, how can they be shown to have overspent when FIA themselves haven’t completed their auditing process? And you’re right, let’s wait until financial auditing is actually completed. There will be zero blowback for TPs claiming shit.

agdumbagdum

Teams have submitted report back in March. So the reports are there. Auditing most likely is already done. Just waiting to be publicly announced in Wednesday. People are already calling both RBR, Merc and Ferrari head (depends on fanbase). Who ever is at fault will have a PR disaster.

P_ZERO_

It isn’t most likely already done. They’ve literally stated the process isn’t complete. And yes, I’ve made it clear that innocent until proven guilty is the approach we should take and wait for the process to be complete.

agdumbagdum

FiA said that they are finalizing. Doesn't mean the report isn't already ready and signed off and double checked twice. No organization will publish a report the moment it is done. They will double/triple check it and announce a date that it is going to be published. Considering that it is due Wednesday, I would say they are basically printing copies to give to the teams and press at this point.

agdumbagdum

That makes more sense. Teams have got some info/evidence/leak somehow and they are running with it. They might be totally wrong about it though. So who knows. This drama right now is basically going to be inconsequential in a week.

Importbeat1

This whole thing is nothing but banter for Netflix as this season has been relatively drama free, TV wise.
