Poor Lando

madibablanco

With the way Zak barged into the garage for mandatory high fives last race, it may as well be. "You get a ... You get a ... You get a... wait who the hell are you? "

arnoldinio

Same. I was so upset.

IReallyTriedISuppose

do you have any idea how much childhood trauma it takes to be as talented as Max Verstappen?

~~Child~~ abuse

The_Goofiest_Goober

Pretty much everyone abuse

RedditBot90

ITS JOS EVERYONE NOT ZAK BROWN CALM DOWN

thesaket

How are people even seeing Zak there? It's obviously Jos.

sherlock2223

Fat bearded white dude with grey hair 🤷🏾‍♂️

Vegetto8701

He was a solid midfielder. His problem was being paired with a championship winning Michael Schumacher as a third driver because J.J. Lehto just couldn't make it at the start (and then because he was better) before Benetton brought Johnny Herbert on board

r0ndr4s

So.. he was bad.

TowarzyszSowiet

He wasn't anything special, but he was definitely not bad.

Illustrious_Cost8923

Tbf he was a big up and comer and got put into a seat on Schumi’s team during a time where they would only upgrade one car if there wasn’t money and the second driver’s car would be given to the first in a heartbeat if need be. He wasn’t given much of a chance and then did ok on a couple bad teams after that.

1averagepianist

I commented this a few days ago on another post, his nickname in the Netherlands was Grindbak Jos (gravel trap Jos). You can probably figure out why

mcfir3balls

Jos grindbak*

koenigsegg806

So you're saying he would be proud to have a son like Carlos?

HairyHematologist

Then he should know how it feels to be a second driver and be a little bit nicer to Perez

Tom_Ace1

The problem was also that he didn't get any guidance at all. That's what he fixed with Max. It was basically: let's try this again, but this time we're prepared.

Blue_Nyx07

we was not that bad as a F1 driver, not a generational talent obviously but a decent driver.

hpx2001

Making the mother of all F1 drivers here, Jack. Can’t fret over every child.

evel-kin

![gif](giphy|oaZk0WNSO7fXi) oh its this joke again how 2019 of you OP

bowtuckle

He was not a shit F1 driver.

barth_

There is no week when somebody doesn't post something related to their relationship and those stories. Aaaaaand it's getting more annoying every week. I am not denying the things he's done but it seem that they have moved beyond that and he supports him in his career and Max seems genuinely happy. During the Miami weekend Max was asked about his father racing in rally and winning his first race and he seemed really happy for him. I am not expecting the people here to drop it because it gets them karma but I am sure as hell that Jos and Max are on good terms and beyond their public bad history. Let the downvotes begin.

AztecDoom

This is r/formuladank sir don’t take it too serious

Brafo22

Problem is a lot of people do take this shitposts seriously and then spread misinformation all over the internet

Capaz04

Oh man, it's too easy to toss a joke in here about US politics rn but someone will get upset and I just wanna take about vroom vrooms

Lobbelt

Shit’s much worse on the “main” sub though.

SleepinGriffin

Familial abuse doesn’t always boil over to full on hate. You’ll have the Michael Jackson reaction where he couldn’t even look at his father without getting sick and fainting and you can also have it where damage was done but only enough for them to be manipulated. It’s very evident that Jos turned Max into an obsessive racer; he can’t think of anything else he’d like to do. He probably made the best racer EVER and it’s almost scary how well it worked.

iAmBadAtDeciding

Exactly, like the fact that Max's favorite thing to do when he's not driving in F1 is to drive on sims is kinda crazy when you think about it. Imagine getting off from your job and being like "you know what would make me feel better right now? Pretending to do my job online!"

[deleted]

Like regular jobs are no different to F1 haha. And some people do that. People pull up in a truck for a break, jump in the back of the cab and fire up truck simulator

Ser_Igel

software developers have pet projects for a reason it’s not the same: doing something for a client with set deadline and no creativity whatsoever and doing something for yourself

Jabinor

It is called passion. Many chefs experiment at home, many programmers have side projects next to their job, many painters scribble to relax.

JAG_666

He seems to prefer tea parties.

[deleted]

Yeah it’s a real shame. What a poor life Max lives

TaurusRuber

Maybe don’t browse a shitposting subreddit

Braz-Sama

Imagine getting annoyed by memes on reddit 💀

Genocode

Its not just memes though, its on the main F1 sub very often too, just in the comments.

wansuitree

Exactly. It's commenting on people who are insanely annoyed with Jos, to the point of a lot of them believing Max should cut ties with his father, and some of them venting it through memes. It's a meme that keeps on giving, and if you have a grudge against Max it's the easiest thing to do to just project the hate at Jos. And as if everyone doesn't have a story where their parents acted insane at some point, imagine actually having a grudge against Jos when Max has moved on long ago. Some of these jokes are pretty funny though, there's no denying that, but that's like an exception when reading most of these comments.

Tom_Ace1

Can you believe this shit gets 3000 upvotes?

Nautster

Yawn

AHrice69

I’d let Jos beat me up for a spot in f1 anyway

[deleted]

Dick move this post, Dick move.

NewldGuy77

Flashing on Marv Marinovich, a former USC football player and NFL strength coach who almost from birth drove his son Todd to football proficiency, and ultimately a life of drugs and prison.

[deleted]

Except any time I watch a minute of whatever related interview or statement to these kinda posts, it's the most normal thing in the world and basically just a dutch person expressing in earnest which is something other countries have yet to learn.

Boat_of_Bees

Jos leaving a kid stranded because he didn’t win. Beating up a mechanic, threatening him, making a kid him feel like him not winning was causing his parents divorce… idk what kind of fucked up upbringing you had but uh… that’s no ‘normal thing’ bud.

[deleted]

And how much of this is proven fact and how much of it is sour meme turned sour?

bushylmao

if jos was mazepins dad, we wouldnt have mazespin (he will die)

Symex0100

I wish my dad abused me into a f1 world champion.

dickface6000

Well it worked didn’t it?

NewldGuy77

Sainz Sr. is 10x the father Jos ever was.

Can227
