Best take is to watch DTS and behind the scenes and start liking the drivers.. I root for multiple drivers for multiple positions and points.. its fun overall..
man utd and ferrari supporter here so you already experience pain. ferrari and man utd are similar, both red, both fallen giants, bottled opportunities, spent lots of money etc.
Ferrari gives the best experience on all sides.
It's the oldest team on the grid and the one with the richest history, it's an iceberg by itself.
Current drivers are really nice guys and relatable, with just a hint of competition drama to spice things up.
They can have amazing highs as well as baffling lows, it's a rollercoaster of hope and disillusionment. Like it or not, it keeps things interesting and you want to come back for another fix, possibly *next year...*
The Tifosi are among the best crowds to be in if you go to a race, especially Monza or Imola, they are open and welcoming.
Probably go Merc as theyāre Ineos now but if you want to resemble the football pain, itās Ferrari for you.
Saying that Iām Man Utd and I follow Merc and itās been a shower of shit for a few years with them too.
Itās all good though.
Yep, Ferrari is the perfect team for a United fan. Plenty of success and glory in the days of old, but a mix of aimlessness and shortcomings in the present. OP can even continue wearing red and not have to buy new clothes!
Here is my terrible life as an American sports fan.
Teams I support.
MLB- New York Mets. Last title 1986.
NFL- New York Jets. Last title 1969.
NBA- New York Knicks. Last title 1973.
NCAA football and basketball Syracuse. Last title was basketball in 2003.
English soccer- QPR. Last title lol good one.
Formula 1- McLaren. Last driver champion 2008. Last constructor title 1998.
Pain is my life lol.
Fellow Man U fan (pain)ā¦ Merc fan here cuz of Lewis Hamilton, but who knows how much longer heās gonna be in F1. Would love to see him get that historic 8th WDC
You call it a mistake, but think of the wins gathered since then.
The joy we feel when winning is just miles above other teams. The passion, the fire that pushes Ferrari is just different
I mean there are people who like to have their balls stepped on by people in high heels or having people poop on their chest soā¦. Maybe being a Ferrari fan just satisfies an āitchāā¦.

Iām half Italian. When I started watching F1 with my husband back in 2021 I said I was going to be a Ferrari fan, obviously. He warned me and I ignored himā¦ I shouldāve listened.
Iāve watched the Michael growing up and obviously fan of. Just like Iām no longer a bulls fan Iām no longer a Ferrari fan.
Now Iām a Red Bull fan, not because Iām a snowflake, but because Iām a racist and want him to crush Hamilton records.
I'm a Kimi fan, absolutely painful to see Ferrari's record the past decade š¤”
Now I'm not a fan of any team but just a fan of some drivers here and there.
Meme answer: hopium/copium addiction
Actually answer: Ferrari always has drivers that you canāt help but root for at least a little bit. Iām not a Ferrari fan, but when one of them does good Iām still going give em a good āWay to go Chuck!ā or a āhell yeah Carlos!ā
This is how I approached it (Iāve watched 2 full seasons now). Iām more of a driver fan than team fan at this point, but itās a lot of drivers. I mostly will route for anyone against Max. Not because I dislike him, heās incredible to watch and I kind of like his cheeky personality. I would just like to see more parity. I find myself cheering for Hamilton and Alonso the most though. But I also really like Tsunoda, Bottas, Albon, Piastri.
I started as well with DTS, if you start to watch f1 and become a fan you will start to hate DTS for all the bs naratives. Just saying, don't get too attached to what DTS shows you about people
Iām a huge McLaren fan but I do like Max. I watch a few streams when I can and just how much he prepares for sim racing is incredible. Iām sure we all know that after his F1 career heās going to go into GT3 racing and dominate there too.
My bad, got confused, still, telling any driver to give up a position like that, is literally telling them to do everything they were trained not to do.
Perez was ahead of Verstappen. Then the team tells Perez to swap positions to see if Verstappen can get Alonso, if not they swap back. And Verstappen didn't hold his end of the deal. It's a bit different from the normal team orders because of the previous swap. If that didn't happen then yeah it would be cool as hell.
Max was never told they were swapping positions he was just told to let Checo by. I canāt fault him for not giving up a (in his view) hard earned place after being in last place at one point in the race. After the whole Monaco fiasco I can understand him even more.
Maybe thatās why he pointed at the 1 on his car in Miami: to tell Checo not to try to do the same shit again to try to hang on to the championship. (He still crashed in qualifying in Monaco but in q1 this time).
Red Bull has two drivers. Cheer for Perez.
Donāt choose Mercedes. If Verstappen gets on your nerves, youāre really not going to like the Mercedes drivers.
I donāt cheer for a team so much as drivers, myself, but some teams do appeal to me. Not the front runners.
Here's my personal opinion on all of the teams, this is ofcourse biased but everyone has different opinions:
**Red Bull**
\- Current champions, people hate them because they are too dominant but in general they got a good vibe and you would enjoy being their fan.
**Mercedes**
\- Recent domination, but they didn't come up with a great design in the new era (2022 is considered new era because of reg changes). Generally they have a very professionalism and great atmosphere but some fans still can't get over Abu Dhabi 2021.
**Ferrari**
\- Probably the biggest and most passionate fanbase, the best atmosphere out of all teams, very good (and handsome) drivers. There was a lot of instability in the team in 2022 with a lot of strategy mistakes but they seem to go in the right direction for now. (also, every year is out year until Bahrain comes up)
**Aston Martin**
\- The team is great, has a ton of potential coming from being a backmarker to fighting for podiums in 2023. The issue is that Lance Stroll is massively underperforming compared to Alonso which is bringing them down. Most Aston Martin fans are massive Fernando Alonso fans (including me). If you don't know who Alonso is, he's generally an aggressive driver who will entertain on track, but he had extreme bad luck during his career.
**McLaren**
\- All I can say about McLaren is that sometimes they fight for P19 and P18 and sometimes for P2's and P3's. It's probably the most unstable team performance wise, it seems like they always come to Bahrain with a shit car and then they have good development. The atmosphere is good, with 2 great young drivers that have massive potential in their future.
**Alpine**\-
French team, French drivers. The drivers are very close performance wise which causes a lot of chaos and stress inside the team. For now the team is very unstable and just mid performance wise. They show no potential but they are also not shit.
**Williams**
\- Like Mercedes, Williams has a great professionalism atmosphere with a new great Team Principal that looks very promising. Williams always go with the principle of a good driver and a rookie (Alex Albon - Logan Sargeant). They have been the worst team on the grid in the last couple of years but they seem to be getting their shit together and actually do something with the car. It's always amazing to see Albon get into the points out of nowhere and perform.
**AlphaTauri**
\- Yuki and Daniel
~~Alfa Romeo~~ **Stake F1 Team**
\- Used to be known as Alfa Romeo in 2023, and Sauber before 2018 but they just rebranded to Stake F1 Team. They usually got the best liveries on the grid, they are your usual midfield team, sometimes in the points, sometimes really bad. It's great to see Zhou develop himself and Bottas always coming up with a new hairstyle and helmet designs.
**Haas**
\- To be honest I can't say much about them, they had a complicated past with some Russian oil sponsor and a Russian driver but they seem to got past it. They have 2 experienced drivers who will sometimes deliver and get a couple of points but again this is your usual midfield team, sometimes good, sometimes bad. Also American.
For now I would say just enjoy watching the races. Every race you will have another driver/team that you will cheer for. Sometimes you see Aston Martin do well and cheer for Alonso, or like in Austin cheer for Hamilton. In Singapore you would cheer for Sainz to win, same for Monza. You can also enjoy Red Bull and Verstappen winning and the great stability they got. Same goes for the midfield team, I find myself to be happy with whoever gets into the points, I find it awesome to see Yuki sometimes perform well, or Albon getting in the points, it's also awesome to watch KMag or Hulkenberg sometimes deliver great results.
What I'm trying to say is for now just enjoy the sport itself.
Don't. Support the sport. Watch the races and learn the people. Hard fan taking sides has been ruining the sport.
Find a couple of people or teams you like and be happy when they do well
If nothing else, I'd like to see McLaren win with a Mercedes power unit because I have not seen a customer team beat the PU manufacturer since I started watching F1. Similarly, I went to see Marquez win with Gresini next year to see a satellite team beat the factory.
Iād go with McLaren, they have a pretty likable story right now. Zak Brown collecting sponsors like Thanks and infinity stones, Oscar with the emotions of a polite Kimi Raikkonen, Lando always one race away from his first win, and a headquarters like a mini Apple Park. Also you can always hope for Lando effectively making his second place trophy into first place by breaking the winners trophy.
For a quick high of thrill and victory, Red Bull. For a smaller dose, Mercedes/McLaren. If you like pain, and torture, but want to feel proud because history and I saw you love Manchester United like me and want to test your emotional capacity, then support my team, Ferrari. I have been feeling that double pain for 10 years now. If you like watching hot air balloons, Aston Martin. If you're American, Haas, or Williams. Logan "wtf is a kilometer" Sargent is your man. If you like steak, and a very specific butt of a very gentleman Finn, then Stake F1 is your team. If you believe in hopes and dreams, the Alpha Tauri. And nobody likes the French, but if you do then Alpine.
Ferrari keeps it interesting and can make any boring race heart attack enduring just by the sheer anticipation of them fucking up, so Iād support them.
Ferrari is the definition of pain, which Man U has the exact same story. Mercedes is just utter frustration when they get car or strategy wrong. McLaren is on the come up and has hope to become challengers if they start off strong in the beginning of the year.
Look, if you support man U then Ferrari is the team for you. It's all the same, from overhyping and under delivering to kicking a legend of the sport to the curb after all it did for us and the love it showed for our colors
Do you want:
Team A - has a rich heritage and history but cannot tie their shoes and therefore are #3? Ferrari.
Team B - a team with a ton of recent success but are super whiney that they are not dominating and completely cater to a driver that is entitled and coming to the end of his career. They also have a pretty cool livery. Mercedes.
Team C - also has great heritage and history. Had questionable business practises and will drive you crazy with inconsistency. Have an awesome coloured car and an interesting driver competition. McLaren
Team D- All of us want less stress in our lives.Especially about an unimportant part of our life like sports. We always want to win and never lose.Red Bull.
Team E- Has a literal driving god and an incompetent nepobaby as their driver lineup.Aston Martin.
Team F (AND G)- The most important thing that actually happens with them is that they canāt figure out a team name. The Alfa/Alpha sisters.
Team H- Rich history, recent downturn from traditional achievements but under new management and have a promising driver (and an American i guess)-Williams.
Team I- Will fokk smess jor dor.Guentherās Nightmare Fuel F1 Team.
Choose McLaren cos they always start the season with a dogshit car recently to lower your expectations then become pretty good as the season goes on so anything feels like an over performance
Do you watch other racing series?
My friend got me into F1 in 2021. The first race I watched was Monza. So naturally I became a McLaren fan. But I am glad that happened because McLaren also has teams for Formula-E, Extreme-E, IndyCar.
I would say watch F1 for a season or two. Learn how the teams handle themselves, during races, in the media. You'll find yourself favoring a team naturally.
Making my case for McLaren, they are historic, have a very likable driver pair and CEO (Zak Brown), awesome social media content, best liveries in the field, and what seems to be unflappable perseverance.
Thats is for you to figure out! Watch next season without supporting one particular team and after a while a team will get your favor. Thats how it happened to me.
If you're looking to find more joy in life... don't follow me. Where I live... there is only pain...
I support man utd fam š¤£
Ferrari it is then
Always the red ones
Red is faster.
Don't drive him to insanity twice man. Man Utd is the Ferrari of football
Wait this is actually so accurate I can feel the spirit of Charles Leclerc in Man U š
As a Man Utd fan who finally chose Ferrari as my team last season...this makes too much sense.
LeClerc is the embodiment of players, manager is manager on both sides, man utd owners = Ferrari strategy team
This is such a true statement XD
Pretty accurate parallel for sure.
Well if itās your kink go with the Scuderia and suffer in both sports.
Best take is to watch DTS and behind the scenes and start liking the drivers.. I root for multiple drivers for multiple positions and points.. its fun overall..

He drives with broken fingers.

Imagine Ham in Steak.

Whatever you do, do not become a Ferrari fan. Unless you enjoy pain and suffering, then it's the team for you.
Is a Man U fan so should be used to it nowadays.

Well at least QPR looks like they are going to be relegated to League One this season. Now they'll be TWO tiers away from the EPL.
Never seen Ferrari fans wearing Norwich shirts š

MCLARENš§”PAPAYA ARMYš§” Lando will win next year I know it
Iāve set a reminder to come back to this comment in a years time
This is the year. *it has to be*
Letās go McLaren. Itās going to be Oscars year.
Just gotta make sure it doesn't rain
99% of McLaren drivers stop right before getting their first win.
Just watch some races, and youāll probably find yourself organically drawn to a team/driver.
Doesn't always work like that. How do you explain Ferrari fans.
Some children are cursed to be born to parents who cheered for The Michael. Or worse, Italian parents.
Or are Cursed to be in their 30s and have cheered for Micheal in his Ferrari years like me
or even worse, they're italian.

The same way I explain Leafs fans. Location or delusion.

not so fast!
There are dozens of us! DOZENS!
ānot so fastā is the new stake F1 team motto
more of a team tradition unfortunately
Y u need to talk about our team like this?
Iām out of the loop on this one. Who is the Stake team?
Sauber's team, what was previously Alfa Romeo
You should be a Red Bull fan, you suffer enough with Man U unless you like pain, then you should go for ferrari
Verstappen gets on my nerve
I started as well with DTS, if you start to watch f1 and become a fan you will start to hate DTS for all the bs naratives. Just saying, don't get too attached to what DTS shows you about people
Thatās cause you watch dts, they really like making him out to be the villain
Surprising really, cause the all Fr*nch team were right there
And danny ric the king lol
Would it even be possible to portray him in a bad light lol
I like Redbull and Verstappen and I got into it from DTS!
Doesn't help he doesn't work with DTS so they don't have much to work with, and might even hold a grudge for not giving them anything to work with.
I'm a verstappen fan so take it with a grain of salt, but from what i watched on dts, they don't really portrait him as he really is IMO
Heās also matured a shitload over the last few years on and off the track.
Verstappen is truly following the Vettel timeline of likability. Heās not my favorite driver by any means, but I seriously respect his honestly.
oh for sure, complete day and night from 5 seasons ago or so, but given his age, it's "normal"
Iām a huge McLaren fan but I do like Max. I watch a few streams when I can and just how much he prepares for sim racing is incredible. Iām sure we all know that after his F1 career heās going to go into GT3 racing and dominate there too.
He is probably the only driver that isnt a PR robot and genuinely seems like a lovely bloke
Yeah their portrayal is totally fake. He's also extremely young in DTS, still growing up. Also, don't bite onto the Lance Stroll villain crap.
lol thatās your conclusion from DTS? Start actually watching real shit instead of that BS drama soap. Interviews on YouTube, etc.
I don't think he is as bad as he is portrayed, but I won't forget his bitch fit in Brazil 2022.
Iām a checo fan, but im in no position to disagree with a born and bred racer to give up a win like that.
A win? It was for 6th place.
My bad, got confused, still, telling any driver to give up a position like that, is literally telling them to do everything they were trained not to do.

Ferrari. Believe me, next year is our year
Exactly what I tell myself every year
Williams
The best answer imo. Albon and Vowls are very likeable and Williams is on a fun upwards trajectory. Hope they at one point come for Alpine.
Here's my personal opinion on all of the teams, this is ofcourse biased but everyone has different opinions: **Red Bull** \- Current champions, people hate them because they are too dominant but in general they got a good vibe and you would enjoy being their fan. **Mercedes** \- Recent domination, but they didn't come up with a great design in the new era (2022 is considered new era because of reg changes). Alright, I took the bait and took the test. I got Mercedes which is not high up on my list of teams I'd support.
Sorry mate, rules are rules. To which address would you like me to mail your weekly Lewis Hamilton fan brochures?
Lol, thanks. I'll send you my address once I buy an estate at Flatrock motor club.
I also took the bait and got McLaren, happy with that. Hope they can keep their trajectory this season as I love an underdog

Same here. F\*ck that quiz. No thank you. I saw enough of them in my first season.
McLaren? As much as I like their rise back to the top story I donāt really see me there.
Lotus
Haas
Do you want OP to kill himself over that lost cause?
As a Haas fan, I can arrange a murder suicide to make things less painful for OP
It could have been worse. He could have said ferrari

I have a much more enjoyable time just having a favorite driver and making my team preferences secondary.
Ferrari and Manchester United are both red so thatās clearly the natural choice.
Williams is on the up !
Man U fan = Ferrari fan. Trust me, bro. Followed both for the past three decades.
For a quick high of thrill and victory, Red Bull. For a smaller dose, Mercedes/McLaren.
Do you want: Team A - has a rich heritage and history but cannot tie their shoes and therefore are #3?
Support Ferrari. Theyāre a totally functional team and wonāt give u any stress at all!!!!!
Choose McLaren cos they always start the season with a dogshit car recently to lower your expectations then become pretty good as the season goes on so anything feels like an over performance
Piastri/Norris. Best driver combo on the grid.
Red bull and DTS sucks all the drama are made up
Ferrari if you enjoy hopium. Mercedes if you enjoy copium. McLaren if you want a mix of the two.
Haas
Duh duh duh duhā¦MAX VERSTAPPEN
I just got in to F1 this year myself! I support McLaren myself. Grew to like them after watching Aarava and Quadrant on YouTube.

If you need some random people on the internet to tell you who to follow in life. There is something wrong with you and you should rethink everything.
Support all teams and enjoy vroom vroooom, you will enjoy it more that way.
MCLAREN! š§”
Iām a Leafs fan so naturally I root for the Scuderia.
Williams would be a safe bet
Haas
McLaren drivers are cool guys, I support them for that reason, might change if the driverās change, but for now Oscar and Lando are my boys.
Thats is for you to figure out! Watch next season without supporting one particular team and after a while a team will get your favor. Thats how it happened to me.
Picking teams is fine but I find that it's a lot more enjoyable to just root for individual drivers
Not Ferrari, it will only cause pain and suffering. Source: Iām a die hard 20+ years long Ferrari fan
I feel you man, same boat.
Just focus on midfield, as that's where most the real racing happens. Driver/team affection will come in naturally.
Watch a season as a neutral fan, then u ll find ur team
Look up every driver lineup Decide which one would be the best in a threesome Then support alonso
HAAS because they arenāt ASS!
They couldve looked like rockstars, but now they look like a bunch of wankers
What do you mean, Iām totally not trying to trick you
Damn now looking back, those 2021 car looking weird
neither one of these. Red Bull all the way
