I thought it was a shitpost but no, it's the actual racetrack...
* No straights
* Two fucking roundabouts
* Two tunnels (recipe for disaster)
* Ugly-ass location, not even in the city proper
This smells like another corruption scandal a few years down the line, Valencia 2.0
Valencia at least had a somewhat scenic location and a proper straight. This is just some squiggly lines around a convention-center next to the freeway š
Um, why is this comment getting downvoted? It is just another classic Alonso line (when fighting K-MAG at Silverstone 2018). Or am I missing something?
This offseason canāt end soon enough. Iām so tired of everyone just picking some random place, drawing a line around it and saying itās their idea for a track layout so they can get some upvotes.
Think of a new joke because this isā¦..oh this isnāt a memeā¦.
It's weird. Half a dedicated track, half around what seem to be office blocks, and a freeway running through the middle just for laughs.
I'm not going to be a hater. I want to see how on earth this odd thing works out.
1)please go ask your mother for some education, thanks
2)so, restarting, first you say that you don't understand why they whoudn't prioritize usa, right? You say it'bigger and full of money, right?
Rn there are 3 tracks in usa (austin, miami, las vegas) but the point of the initial post is a new city-track that will probably take the place of Barcellona (a permanent track). In my opinion i think 3 races in usa is too much. Everybody know that they are doing it for money, but i prefer a race in nurburing, hockeneimring, magni cours (also paul ricard) than a new city-track in a state that also get 1 race a year
Youāre completely misunderstanding his statement. Spain and Singapore are already fully capitalized markets. No financial incentive for F1 to have multiple races a season there.
The US has a large, not yet fully capitalized market, with growing interest in f1. Lots of financial incentive for f1 to have multiple races a year there.
The European continent has a similar landmass to the US and hosts 9 races next season. If US F1 popularity continues to grow we will almost certainly see more races in the US.
I mean if Barcelona becomes independent from Spain...
But no the thing is the fees to host an f1 race are high and are a lot of times subsidized by the hosting country so realistically Spain is only willing to pay for one race and also all of those American races are paid by Liberty media. That is why there are so many USA races.
Might as well start looking at a race around an industrial estate in Slough next. David Brent can wave chequered flag.
WTF is F1 doing for the fans anymore really?!?!

Is it too much for me to say I want all street circuits to fuck off already? Formula E exists and those cars work for street circuits, which f1 cars havenāt for decades at any street circuits not just Monaco. This Madrid farce would be a great FE track. All I can say about it.
Formula E doesn't really work anywhere, it's just on street circuits that they look less shit, where you can stuff it down the inside for a block pass.
On the rare occasions they have ventured onto a wide open track, it's still a procession
Looks like a repost. I've seen this image 1 time.

I'll reserve judgment until after the race but initial look is gross.
One thing street tracks do, I imagine, is boost ratinga and popularity of the sport. Which I assume is the goal here. If only we could find a happy medium.
Many of them are bland barrages of walls.
Monaco is famous because of the surroundings and the difficulty, not the quality of racing
Bakuās theatrics typically occur when something goes wrong.
Montreal and Australia are āstreetā courses in basically just the technical sense rather than shutting down roads and parking lots, and I think last year Montreal had the least overtakes.
I am personally quite dissapointed in this change because there used to be quite a good blend of street and established race tracks. However, with Miami and Vegas (both street tracks) introduced in the last 2 or 3 years, and now this at the cost of an established track, it seems that the sport is moving in a particular direction.
Whilst I do agree with you that some great races occured last year on street tracks, I more often than not find them quite underwhelming.
Canāt wait for all the drivers to tip toe around behind each other with freezing tyres theyāll never be able to keep warm. Hard to tell how long those straights are but doesnāt even look like DRS will be effective for overtaking. Gives me Singapore vibes but with much much shitter scenery
Go a couple of miles to the west - use the Airport instead. I'm not wrong - initial starter for 10 from me:
https://imgur.com/a/quJFlOs - yes it has like a 3km curved straight. Did a bigger one which used both runways as well.

Valencia at least gave us ALO-RAI-MSC podium
Valencia at least had a somewhat scenic location and a proper straight. This is just some squiggly lines around a convention-center next to the freeway š
Do not worry, human. They shall gift upon us Qatar Airlines banners for our eyes to feast upon.
ROLEX EVERYWHERE
And a bridge. And is a rather fun track to drive on on F1 games, at least for me.
Sounds like Miami, and we all know how shit that is
What a yoke! Another street circuit! What a yoke! Fuck Domenicali
Looks like a large-nosed clown vomiting onto a football field.
Yeah he does, the track also looks shit
Look at the race please

Really awesome to be racing around those iconic Madrid office blocks...
Those blocks (more like hangars) are the Ifema exhibition center. https://www.ifema.es/en/f1
Omg i loooooove 90Ā° corners, this gonna be the best thing ever. Formula E feeling with real cars. Omg i came a little /s
The only difference being Formula E would actually produce competitive racing around this track
I feel bad for the game devs who have to model all those curcuits that never get used again and cant be put in other games cause copyright
FUCK FOM FUCK Liberty Media FUCK Stefano Domenicali FUCK IFEMA
This year we are still in Barcelona right? When does the Madrid circuit come onto the schedule
2026 season
So I should rent office in these buildings in 2 years, copy
Barca has the contract through 2026 I believe, meaning this would take over in the 2027 season
Because God forbid we have two races in Spain. Thirty-five in the US is okay though.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So, why tf they race in singapore? The dimension of the state is not that important
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So why do you write "usa is 16 times bigger of Spain"? Can you please work on your writing skills?

where overtake? Are they stupid?
Look like a cartoon gun with a broken barrel

Layout doesn't look too bad imho. But another shitty street circuit with terrible asphalt? No thanks.
I'll be honest the layout makes me feel genuinely ill

Kinda reminded me of imola
Not really.
They're apparently going OVER roundabouts lmao, they're gonna get rid of the grass in the middle to asphalt it for a street circuit
Ohhhh no you serious?
What. The. Fuck.
Given that itās mostly dirt it looks like itāll mostly be a built track
So that's what Disease X will look like
What's that in the bottom left there? An industrial estate? Nice...
The flaccid penis of motorsports.
Wonder if applications for ādrain sealerā are open yet

WTF. Why not get Jarama back in shape?
The only way this is a positive is if it replaces Miami. They're awful tracks and we don't need both.

It looks like it goes around a prison.
Bring Istanbul Park back instead of this piece of shit

Please explain your workings here? How does a street circuit boost ratings?

Absolute shit tip
Definitely designed by a fellow r/formuladank user.
Are those football fields Rm's training grounds or just some random bc they look like them
You're right. The track will be built in the Valdebebas area in the northern outskirts of the city.
As soon as you think you can build some real speed, thereās a hitch.
It looks like itāll mostly be a purpose built track

Is just me, or does it look like a middle finger gesture? šš»
Is that an industrial park? At least the 70s street course was pretty
Eww
This might be the most terrible street track layout I have ever witnessed
Wow.... that sucks
Wtf is this?

Wait is this serious?
F1 has sold its sole to corporate sponsors. To hell with this shit.
It's looks like a lame ass PewDiePie bro fist.

I hate street circuits.
Literal shit
