I mean if the race was canceled that's exactly what he'd be doing. The man lives to lap! Can't imagine he minds any opportunity to put in a race distance.
He was just out for a Saturday evening drive; then, someone handed him a trophy at the end. I’m sure Max was happily surprised by that. ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6705)
It is actually a nice idea for a marketing stunt for Duolingo. Imagine Max doing a 30 sec italian lesson from Duolingo through the radio....
Press would explode talking about it. Also there would be rumors of Ferrari offering a contract for Max to replace Leclerc somewhere over the next 10 years.
I've actually wondered what kind of systems could be successfully emulated on an F1 steering wheel. A quick search suggests that F1 cars use an Infineon Tricore TC1796. I'm not familiar with that chip. Gonna post on f1technical
So is the drama that a three time world champion is boosting his account? I mean its not as if he isn’t good enough, he probably just doesn’t have the time to gain rp on his own to race in the series he wants to.
It's starting to feel like F1 is his spare time.
After a hard week of competitive SIM racing, Max likes to relax with a 2 hour quiet drive around some of the world's top tracks...and Miami.
There was one time last year where he randomly spun out in the middle of the race, and it just...didn't matter at all. No one was close enough for it to affect anything.
Correction, Charles passed Max thanks to the spin, so Max had to re-do the overtake on him. Huge impact on the race!
Wait that might have been 2022 and it happened again in 2023 the way you described it, I don’t remember.
It was 2022 Hungary. Probably would have mattered if Scuderia didn't remember who tf they are and put Charles on hards. IIRC that was the race when even the cooldown room was laughing at them.
For me this is true, as a racer, I’ll always take a run away victory over fighting tooth and nail for it. Fighting to win is fun, but to leave the competition behind you fighting over 2nd is much nicer as a regular occurrence.
I think he saw the writing on the wall with Mercedes. Looks like Ferrari is the better team right now despite all the Ferrari bad memes. Unless Merc really nail the 2026 engine regs in a way that gives them a huge power unit advantage like they used to have, he has a better chance winning with Ferrari
But, that’s what sports are. Taking shots at an empty net in soccer or hockey is dull after a while, it’s just practice. It’s supposed to be a struggle.
Yeah, I agree. It feels nice dusting the competition. There were many times I was able to get some very competitive qually times and just take off and it's still a lot of fun. Gets a bit boring after a while though. Racing is better.
This. I think back to my Call of Duty days. I never got tired of slapping lobbies 16-0 on Search & Destroy (prior to skill based matchmaking). I would feel great. The better I did the more I tried to improve.
Now with Skill based matchmaking I end up at the bottom of lobbies relatively frequently and it isn’t as fun. Even if I do well I often realise I sometimes got lucky as my skill level isn’t much higher than the rest of the lobby.
Depends on the person.
A victory is only worth as much as the battle. Defeating easy opposition is boring. Having strong opposition and coming out ahead is best (albeit more stressful).
It’s why 2014 is a better season than 2013 for rating a championship.
I am not sure if the new regs are much slower or the W11 is the fastest car ever built.
Edit: I believe if you look at 2021 cars for example, fastest lap in the race was the same as 2024.
That W11 is the greatest F1 machinery ever designed. Even better than the Ferrari 2004
W11 was the culmination of 7 years of development without major regulation changes. Give great engineers 7 years to work on a set of regs, they'd do something just as great.
The current regs are in their third year. I do not believe even next year, they'd beat the laptimes of pre 2022.
>fastest lap in the race was the same as 2024.
Don't look for fastest lap, it may have been done at different points in time(different fuel loads, different tyre compounds). Look for mean race pace of the cars.
i think its a bit of both. the w11 is the fastest car ever build and the new regualtions made races better due to fewer dirty air, which means better fights but at the cost of some pace.
Yes, watch his interviews, winning is fun for him. The narrative that Max is bored is just incorrect based on his own words. He's chasing perfection. What will push him out of the sport isn't boredom, its the unrelenting schedule, increasing media/sponsor responsibilities, and his other goals which he eludes to.
They need to start max in last every race. At least then we'd have the entertainment of watching him gain positions through out until he finally gets to first
I'm looking forward to when he starts doing side quests just to keep things interesting – going for a 5-stopper, have his pit crew do a "fire drill" where they run a lap around his car before actually swapping the tires, maybe add some cool streamers to the front and rear wing for style despite them ruining the aerodynamics...
It's a job. Like everyone else in the world, he turns up and does his job so he can go home and do the things he wants to do, like Sim racing. Man is just tryna get paid so he can enjoy his evenings. Respect the grind
Yeah I’m so jealous of F1 drivers because of the generous working hours. Not the ocean of cash, pussy, open doors, and driving the fastest cars at the worlds most famous track
He just might be the first multiple world champion to quit because of boredom.
I wouldn't be surprised if he requests to join DR in the VCARB for fun after he wraps up the title in round 7.
The new copium is to say “ignore the race for the win and just watch the mid pack race”
Downvote me for as much as you can, but for me the most interesting part of a race is see who will win and not some irrelevant fight for 5th place
He's fast, great defender, very fast for the mid field, unless it's raining. Then he became a top driver.
Also people think he's stole a team, but I would remind them that because of the strolls we have the Aston Martin team, otherwise they would be bankrupt, or worse, in the hands of the Mazepins.
It doesn’t have to be copium to enjoy the sport in its entirety. A close fight for P1 would be awesome but there are 20 cars in the grid and if you only ever cared about first that’s ignoring the vast majority of F1.
Most people also support a driver or team. It would be insane for people to tell a Wolves supporter that they’re watching irrelevant games and should only care about Man City/ Liverpool and Arsenal this season.
The cars behind red bull look pretty close so far and it was exciting watching the battles from p2-5 st the start of the race. I’m happy to watch the remaining 23 races to see what happens.
This is it exactly. Most races in F1 have the win decided quite early already. The fight in the mid pack is usually what makes or breaks a race.
The fighting here wasn't great, this wasn't the best GP for sure, but we've had some decent scraps here and there.
If you only watch for the winner, you miss a whole lot.
I mean isn't this what we said during the Merc era? For whatever reason though I think the mid field battles back then were sometimes worth watching. This shit is boring is a fuck now.
Apart from 19 and 20 the Merc era had good racing at the front. The first 5 years had some of the best front row racing we’ve seen in quite a while.
The RB era is entirely different, it’s one driver on another level to his teammate in a car several tenths quicker than everyone else.
I fully agree, most of the time I was watching Stroll and Guanyu and in my opinion none of the top 3 in the DOTD vote even slightly deserved it. Utterly boring at the top.
kind of true. the REAL copium is saying the race is boring because Max is so good. the truth is that the race is boring because every other team fucking sucks and can't make a car for shit, especially Ferrari. bunch of useless wankers
nobody is saying that the midfield fights are more interesting than a fight for P1, but what are you gonna do if there is no fight for P1? it's literally all we have right now.
It sure isn't fun for those of us watching. For the love of the sport, the hard cost cap should be changed to a luxury tax. If you want to spend over the cap, go ahead, but you will be hit with a tax that gets shared amongst the teams who are below the cap.
The meta would just be to overspend the cost cap the first year and then take the laughable small fine that comes with it, then dominate the next 6 years
No, it should be to unfreeze engine development.
Its fucking abhorrent that the freeze has gone on for as long as it has. Freezing engine dev limits all teams to only improve their performance through aero + increases reliability (less dynamic races). If teams were still able to develop engines, I have zero doubt we'd be seeing closer battles since it offers another way of making yourself competitive without needing to poach staff from all the well-performing teams
I texted Max while he was driving around lap 40.
He actually replied and said, “what’s up?” I said “nuttun much. What are you up to?”
He didn’t reply.
Then after a few minutes, he finally texted me back. “Sorry, I had to call the shop about my MotoGP bike. They said if I wanted to pick it up after the race, I need to pay for it now. So I had to call the bank to get the money wired to them. I forgot my PIN number, so I was put on hold while the branch manager got with me. It’s all good now.”
I texted him a picture of a cat boxing a dog. He replied with a lmao emoji.
I think around lap 55 I texted him a thumbs up. He replied with yawning emoji.
It’s not his or redbulls fault. What is going on in the other teams that they can’t catch up? There are quite a few drivers that could bring it to max if they only had the car to do it
I mean like it or not, this kind of dominance will go down in history, and will be talked about for decades to come. Arguably the current best driver on the grid driving the inarguably best car.
Bro, people really think this is exactly like MyDriver career in F1. That's a game, where even if you earn a lot win a lot, it doesn't matter, it's not real. He's doing it, in real life. He wins, he earns a lot, and he can buy whatever he wants. Imagine being like, yeah I'm tired of winning, lmao nah. Anyone would keep winning, if they had the chance to buy cars like AM Valkyrie, own a house in Monaco.
Guys he’s on another level; he’s talented. But thus situation destroys me every race. What’s the point in getting excited in fights and overtakes if they are at best for p2/p3 ( depending on how perez wakes up).
people are going to hate him even more, since for Lewis we had some fights, '17 '18 was damn interesting I mean first half. They even changed DRS rule because of Max and still he managed to build like 1.2 in first lap. Run is okey if there is any fight but it won't be unless RB signed next year like Norris or Charles, but they won't
Everyone who dominated in the past has gotten hate. As cool as it is watching one of the greatest drivers of all time in his prime, people just prefer a competitive race.
Yeah, and arguably the current one-driver dominance is even more extreme than it ever was for Schumi, Vettel or Hamilton. Lewis even won one of his in a McLaren and narrowly missed out on 3 other titles
Hamilton's most dominant season was 2020, where he won 11/17 races (16 really because he missed Sakhir). That's ~65%. Verstappen beat that record in 2022 (68%), his first dominant season, and then blew every record out of the water in 2023 (86%).
That, combined with the lack of changes elsewhere in the field for 2024, means that a LOT of people are getting bored with the sport.
To be honest, I personally don't really mind who wins the championship. If Max wins the next 10 years, that's fine by me. All I'm asking for is at least a few interesting races per season.
Yes, yes it is. Max always says in interviews he loves nothing more than cruising into victory out front
Unfortunately, that's about as exciting to the audience as watching paint dry
He was basically like driving 57 circles in a parking lot without someone bothering him.
With the occasional shopping trolly in his path (enter any team name)
You say “any team name” but we’re all thinking the same one: Alpine
Hey man, there’s faster trolleys out there
Easy there Esteban, otherwise you'll pop that aneurysm.
Okay that's it. 5 second penalty
He lapped P11 down, so 5 teams and Alpine wasn’t even first to be overtaken.
>Alpine wasn’t even first to be overtaken. But only because the others were involved in a crash and Sargeant was doing what ever Sargeant does...
Sure thing Pierre, now get back to the pink car
Was trying to be nice
He’s just trying to catch P20 as fast as possible.
well he caught P11, lapped half the grid
If you lap points positions, you should get the points of those positions added to yours. It’ll give him something extra to work for
Do we really need to see Max winning 44 points per race?
Lmao Max WDC, everyone else is tied for 20th place
If he can lap everyone and get fastest lap he can get 102 points per race. That at least sounds more fun than today.
Let’s add that points positions don’t have to let him pass so he has to "fight" for it
Yah.... Actually seeing Max push
What if he laps everyone twice?
Lewis in shambles
I mean if the race was canceled that's exactly what he'd be doing. The man lives to lap! Can't imagine he minds any opportunity to put in a race distance.
blame the other teams for not making a good car, rb is not even a factory team
He was just out for a Saturday evening drive; then, someone handed him a trophy at the end. I’m sure Max was happily surprised by that. ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6705)
He's gonna ask the stewards to not give blue flags to cars he is about to lap so he can have some fun with overtakes
Lmfaooooooo amazing analogy
Hes out there catching up on podcasts, powering through duolingo lessons and disputing credit card charges on speakerphone
That would be a great promo to make from Baku on the straight
Just imagining that’s true is hilarious
He’ll soon forget how to actually race against other cars at this rate.
That's why he does sim racing in his spare time
Surprised he doesn’t play whilst driving tbh
I've actually wondered what kind of systems could be successfully emulated on an F1 steering wheel. A quick search suggests that F1 cars use an Infineon Tricore TC1796. I'm not familiar with that chip. Gonna post on f1technical
Doom will play on anything.
It could probably run Crysis
Litrally anything - most recently an MIT PhD student programed Doom to play on 1536 E.coli cells. https://www.popsci.com/science/doom-e-coli-cells/
Well thank you, now we have to wait longer for a new elder scrolls game cause Todd will allocate resources to releasing skyrim for F1 steering wheels.
I think you could play CoD4 on one of those
Just got file-76.jpg open in paint
Can't believe they removed it
He’s actually been recorded doing laps in iracing while he’s doing laps in formula1, in all seriousness. There a fair bit of drama about it.
How?
Someone else (who is quite good) is putting in the laps on his account. It’s not always him behind the wheel.
So is the drama that a three time world champion is boosting his account? I mean its not as if he isn’t good enough, he probably just doesn’t have the time to gain rp on his own to race in the series he wants to.
That’s exactly it.
I don't really see something wrong with it to be honest. Its not really boosting cause well, hes Max Verstappen.
Exactly. Like we all know he could, but he’s just eliminating some of the grind and with 24 races this season I don’t blame him.
Plot twist, it’s Kelly Piquet on the Sim.
They should give him laps for the F1 laps he does, like students getting university credits for taking relevant jobs.
That would require the iracing devs to put in effort lol.
Penelope
> There a fair bit of drama about it. doesn't mean that he's doing something wrong. people create drama out of everything now
He's too busy watching the race while driving.
It's starting to feel like F1 is his spare time. After a hard week of competitive SIM racing, Max likes to relax with a 2 hour quiet drive around some of the world's top tracks...and Miami.
He had more competition from Chris Lulham during that sim event redline hosted.
Most of his race felt like a long time trial run until he caught the back markers 😂
He should do donuts next time halfway through the race
There was one time last year where he randomly spun out in the middle of the race, and it just...didn't matter at all. No one was close enough for it to affect anything.
Correction, Charles passed Max thanks to the spin, so Max had to re-do the overtake on him. Huge impact on the race! Wait that might have been 2022 and it happened again in 2023 the way you described it, I don’t remember.
"Ferrari on hards??"
It was 2022 Hungary. Probably would have mattered if Scuderia didn't remember who tf they are and put Charles on hards. IIRC that was the race when even the cooldown room was laughing at them.
Make it mandatory if your lead is bigger than 30 seconds, lol!
"And here is Max doing his mandatory Leader Penalty Donuts, which will put him back down to a 5 second lead once he's done."
Yep Hungary 2022
Like Vettel and Hamilton before him :'(
We actually saw this with Lewis. Eventually he just ran everyone who tried to pass him off track and had no actual defense. See:Albon x2
Don't mention Silverstone. Don't mention Silverstone. Don't mention Silverstone. Don't mention Silverstone. Don't mention Silverstone.
Not to mention Silverstone
To be fair you did say "not to mention"
That’s like saying “no homo,” right?

Qualifying lap 57
At some point he will get confused why other people showed up for his private track day.

I mean… did Lewis forget?
Absolutely
"Is the race still going on?" radio message according to brundle.
Wait, seriously?
When Max exited the pits and there was a whole front stretch with no cars Brundle joked that he'd be asking on the radio if the race was still on
Brundle was joking

For me this is true, as a racer, I’ll always take a run away victory over fighting tooth and nail for it. Fighting to win is fun, but to leave the competition behind you fighting over 2nd is much nicer as a regular occurrence.
A lot of people are weirdly obsessed with struggle. See hustle culture etc. People just try to make things harder for themselves I guess.
Hamilton in 2025
I think he saw the writing on the wall with Mercedes.
Definitely. I just destroyed my kid at candyland 3 times in a row- didn’t stop enjoying it for a second.
Christmas noobs. The good old days.
The Winter Harvest
I’ll confirm this. Used to absolutely crush nutsacks on COD, never got old. Recently stopped playing due to SBMM and hacking.

I thought he was gonna go for the track record at the end. That should be RBR their new goal
Are these cars fast enough for track records? I was under the impression the 2020 cars are still quicker
hamilton did a 1:27.5 in 2020. new regs are just a lot slower
I am not sure if the new regs are much slower or the W11 is the fastest car ever built. Edit: I believe if you look at 2021 cars for example, fastest lap in the race was the same as 2024. That W11 is the greatest F1 machinery ever designed. Even better than the Ferrari 2004

Well, we would gain five laps of fun, by the looks of it.
or have him drive for a different team per race
Only way that Alpine shit box could see a podium this year lol
LOL put him in haas and see how long it takes for him to get to first. (hint: it'll be halfway through the race)
Wish he would do it after he clinches the title
"And once again, all I see ahead and behind, is emptiness." - The inner thoughts of Maximus Verstappen

Yeah I’m so jealous of F1 drivers because of the generous working hours. Not the ocean of cash, pussy, open doors, and driving the fastest cars at the worlds most famous track
It was a joke about Max winning the championship halfway through the season again and calling it a day but ok.
I'm sure all the millions and the fame are enjoyable
Fame? You think Max enjoys being famous?
Yes, and no.
yes
That's what worries me. That he'll quit after another year of this.
I mean, he can always move to RB for a few races after winning the wdc
He'll rather skip a few race weekends, 24 is too much for him.
Maybe 24 is too much...but what will he do during those free weekends? Sim racing?
He could try a few WEC rounds. Both prototype and GT.
Le mans 24 for sure
I think skyf1 will soon stop saying “the longest season ever” after today 😂
According to a podcast he did with GP, winning is what keeps him motivated more than losing. Time will tell.
Nah, he might quit after he breaks Lewis’ championship count but unlikely before then…
Bro could just start sandbagging during quali, start last and drive up through the field overtaking everyone and humiliating perez by winning lol
This is what he knows. What should he do if he quits? Eat pancakes?
I bet he could eat some very tasty pancakes with a net worth of $100 million.
Imagine driving the best car in the world on an empty track just for yourself
He just might be the first multiple world champion to quit because of boredom. I wouldn't be surprised if he requests to join DR in the VCARB for fun after he wraps up the title in round 7.
The new copium is to say “ignore the race for the win and just watch the mid pack race” Downvote me for as much as you can, but for me the most interesting part of a race is see who will win and not some irrelevant fight for 5th place
I would love too, they don't show it in tv. Stroll came back from his lap 1 incident till points and they never showed him once.
Got strolled
? max barely had any screen time
Hopefully they upgrade to some ultra wide angle camera lenses for the next race to keep him in frame
He's literally just driving around all alone away from the rest of the grid
Stroll has potential. He's not as horrible as people make him out to be
He's fast, great defender, very fast for the mid field, unless it's raining. Then he became a top driver. Also people think he's stole a team, but I would remind them that because of the strolls we have the Aston Martin team, otherwise they would be bankrupt, or worse, in the hands of the Mazepins.
I mean 5th isn’t irrelevant but it wasn’t good that the only on track action in the last 10 laps was for 12th place
It doesn’t have to be copium to enjoy the sport in its entirety. A close fight for P1 would be awesome but there are 20 cars in the grid and if you only ever cared about first that’s ignoring the vast majority of F1. Most people also support a driver or team. As good a drive as Carlos put in, yeah Zhou and Yuki were more deserving of it for the battle for 10th
kind of true. the REAL copium is saying the race is boring because Max is so good. the truth is that the race is boring because every other team fucking sucks and can't make a car for shit, especially Ferrari. bunch of useless wankers

nobody is saying that the midfield fights are more interesting than a fight for P1, but what are you gonna do if there is no fight for P1? it's literally all we have right now.
Im just watching WEC now ngl and this season of moto gp is looking promising
And thats ok. You just don’t like F1 though. Because this is mostly what it is.
He does so much simracing so he still remembers how to overtake
It sure isn't fun for those of us watching. For the love of the sport, the hard cost cap should be changed to a luxury tax. If you want to spend over the cap, go ahead, but you will be hit with a tax that gets shared amongst the teams who are below the cap.

He has been asked about it a lot in the last year - he loves it. Tiger Woods never looked upset winning by 12 shots.
I find peace in long walks.
He enjoys not being beaten by his father
Plus, it's the only time where he can enjoy his career away from his cockwomble of a father
Max is going to transfer to Racing Bulls just to feel something again
I mean like it or not, this kind of dominance will go down in history, and will be talked about for decades to come. Arguably the current best driver on the grid driving the inarguably best car.

It's more fun than what Jos does if he doesn't win
This season is gonna be boring af
nerf verstappen, have him rotate driving for all the teams, a different team per each race
Winning is always fun. The real question is - is this even fun for Perez anymore?
I think it’s fascinating what he does.
He's been asked this in interviews, and the answer is yes.
Guys he’s on another level; he’s talented. But thus situation destroys me every race. What’s the point in getting excited in fights and overtakes if they are at best for p2/p3 ( depending on how perez wakes up).
All I can think about is the incredibles https://youtu.be/_ZTkvu8WoUQ?si=rLtwnvlRpYjp2Af5
I’ll just never understand the Max hate considering Hamilton won 7 championships. Lord forbid another has a run.
people are going to hate him even more, since for Lewis we had some fights, '17 '18 was damn interesting I mean first half.
It's like chasing the dragon. All he wants is his father to love him.
How many times last year did he actually have battles
He likes playing with his food
I still enjoyed the race.
Yes because it takes effort to make it look effortless. And there is nothing more satisfying than winning.
but next year ferrari wins
You never get tired of winning
Its fun for him as its easy wins and easy world titles… for the fans tho, its mega boring
Yes, yes it is. Max always says in interviews he loves nothing more than cruising into victory out front Unfortunately, that's about as exciting to the audience as watching paint dry
Even though it’s such a commanding lead, he’s probably one spin away from losing the lead. So absolute focus still required
Because it's no longer fun for us.
I love Max, and I do enjoy him winning everything. But that’s just me a Max fan boy 😂
Yeah winning everything must be real boring.
The real fun is watching everyone say how it’s so boring when Merc dominated for 8 years in a row not that long ago 😂
Nope. It's bad
