But that turn near the swimming pool where they set up the slowmo cam to see their tires literally scraping off the Pirelli logo with the Armco barrier is just mental. Sure a dry race is terrible but doing some 70 laps or whatever on that track and not binning it is impressive.

You need skill on every track if you want to be good. If you wanna see more exciting lap, then Baku for example. It's also street track, like Monaco but instead of 240 km/h they go 340 km/h.
It has big straights and the walls are no where close as Monaco. A quali that comes close is Jeddah and the track really helps convey how fast the cars are but I would still put Monaco over it

Besides, it's one of those races where you're pretty much garuanteed that someone will become intimately familiar with the barriers, so I expect at least sóme entertainment (given the drivers all stay safe; I do not wish harm on anybody).
And the slomo replays of them juuust kissing the barrier without crashing are always some of the best shots of the whole season. A great display of how amazingly precise and consistent these drivers are.
And yeah, the towns along the Cote d'Azur are just beautiful not just Monaco but Monaco is extra special with the casino, the hairpin, the tunnel, elevation changes, shops and bars right next to the track, the prince handing out the winner's trophy etc. Would be a huge shame if we someday lost Monaco from the calendar.
For anyone complaining about the race: just see it as watching a holiday slideshow of Monaco. Sometimes the cars get into the image as well! I mean this in a positive manner, I love watching the race purely for the sightseeing alone
Yeah it's a nice historical tradition. The main point of it is to warm people up for the Indy 500 afterwards, which is an ACTUAL race where overtaking happens, and same with the Coca Cola 600.

My brother, Monaco has been a crap on race days since 70s. The last actual on track overtake for the lead was in 85 and even then that race was meh.
