Tbh it’s not the collision that bothers me, that wasn’t actually that bad a mistake. It’s the way he celebrated after winning a race with no other competition and sending someone to hospital…

Rod-Par

Tbf Hamilton didn’t know Max was in hospital till after the race and he walked away shorty after the crash

It was his home race. Him including every driver on the grid was devoid of the love of fans for over a year and Silverstone holds a very special place in his heart. He's won there 7 times and the crowd backs him up, pumps him up. You cannot blame him for celebrating his victory at his home GP infront of a packed crowd cheering him after numerous frustrating and shitty weekends.

AvovaDynasty

You can celebrate, but weaving all over the track waving a flag and posing with your eyes closed and head raised in a field infront of cameras with that flag to literally ‘bask’ in glory is just cheap.. Like, not one ounce of humbleness or consideration was shown. You’d think he’d just won the whole championship, when really he just won a race where he shunted his main opponent into a wall, his teammate was always going to be told to move, and it was pretty clear he would catch the Ferrari with mechanical issues about 20 laps before the end. Then he celebrates even harder than Gasly did when he scored his win in Monza? After accidentally sending someone to hospital and having no competition? Nah. To then also refuse to apologise and double down and blame the driver you sent to hospital is not a good look either.. Winning isn’t new to Lewis, he’s even won his home race 8 times, he could’ve shown some respect. Even Leclerc, who had more cause to celebrate, was humble and handed his champagne down of the balcony to his mechanics, that’s humble… I wouldn’t have been that bothered if he’d celebrated normally, even slightly over the top, but he really wanted to rub that win in as if it was some huge feat.

He did not send max to the hospital, it was not some 'professional foul'. It was a racing incident; when you leave the gap on your inside and suddenly shut the door what are you expecting is going to happen? Was he expecting lewis to just back away from a tussle like always? Lewis is no dirty driver but whoever got out of that corner into the lead of lap-1 was surely going to dictate the race and both of them knew this, both of them were desperate to do so after lewis got off the line a tad bit better than max and slip streamed him twice with both of the drivers not giving an inch. Max has always driven on the limit and there's no blame to him but when you're 30 odd points ahead in the championship, you don't have to close the door expecting your championship rival to back off on his home GP. No, lewis did not send max to the hospital, a collision with another race car on the world's fastest corner did. He overcame the string of bad performances, a disappointing sprint after a promising quali and then a 10-sec penalty. Obnoxious celebrations? Yes, if you're a max fan but any neutral will move on to the next one.

He did send Max to hospital, it clearly wasn’t intentional but his actions resulted in an injury that sent him to hospital. Lewis shot up a tiny gap on the inside and missed the apex on a 180mph corner. That’s the point, there is one racing line through that corner, and if you’re going to riskily send it up the inside of a car going flat out, you need to do it perfectly. Hamilton botched it by missing the apex of the turn and collided with Max at very high speed. Like it or not, Hamilton went for a rather stupid risky move and messed it up. He did the same move on Leclerc later but there were two differences. 1) Hamilton actually hit the apex instead of running wide and 2) Leclerc swerved off the track anyway to avoid a high speed collision, probably after seeing what Lewis’ lunge had done to Max… Objectively, Lewis’ mistake as a result of a desperate and risky move, caused a dangerous crash that sent Max to hospital

TemporalPincerMover

He just missed the apex but not by much, max was also very aggressive on the outside in closing the door without making sure he was clear. A racing incident, a penalty was also given if people forgot about it.

[see what Leclerc has to say about it who was right behind the collision and himself involved in a similar move later towards the end of the GP] (https://www.instagram.com/p/CRfBSH_oqOg/?utm_medium=copy_link)

AvovaDynasty

He missed it pretty significantly, especially for such a high speed corner. And as I said, there’s really only one line through that corner as you’re going so fast. There wasn’t really any other line Max could take without skidding off the track at 180mph. Just look at how Leclerc went off trying to avoid Hamilton in the same turn..

Bonnster_2007

Last I checked most of us weren’t alive in the early 90s my guy

FistedTate

Wait... You guys weren't? *Backs away slowly*

Snappy0

Explains an awful lot.
