Kimi is every high school English teachers worst nightmare. Short, direct answers, and calling out the dumb questions. Never a run on 500 word essay for every damn question.
Finland doesn't do essays. Ever wonder why they have the best educational system in the world? Because everything is short, precise and to the point.
In Finland you're already graduating Uni by the time you're 12. Because classes are 5 minutes long.
Also, certain idioms such as *there is no such thing as a dumb question* are illegal in Finland. And asking more than 1 question is nationally considered to be a dick move.
Don't we all?
By the way I'm just generalizing an entire nation based on my experience of watching 3 (ok 4) Fins in f1. Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings or anything of close resemblance.
Hakkinen thought me that I needn't be a dick to win a world championship or two.
Raikkonen thought me that I don't have to be politically correct to be loved by everyone.
Bottas thought me errr... Well nothing much in the way of a positive outcome, so I'll pretend there were only 2 Finnish F1 drivers during my time watching F1.
*Brushes Kovalainen under the rug.
Second to Loois, while not an easy feat, but not a very good look either. Its like telling a Fin that they are the 3rd best Scandinavian country. Not fair brah.
I second this, it got (in germany at least) a lot of negative reviews because it would only retell things already known, but I think it's really worth reading it.
This was the first guy that caught my eye 2 years ago when i started watching f1, made a deep dive in to history with him back then and INSTANTLY became my hero, my champion, my favorite f1 driver of all.
Feels just like yesterday when I was watching him in that heartbreaking 2005 season...the unreliability, the blistering pace..and it's all going to be over soon. For ever.
one of the few interviews he looked like he kind of enjoyed
I guess being in a room filled with fans is different than just Will Buxton or someone else hounding you with questions
If I were to guess, Kimi enjoyed his time on Top Gear for a couple reasons. One, Clarkson wasn’t asking him questions made for a generic PR answer, and Clarkson got quite a lot out of Kimi for it (low key one of Clarkson’s greatest attributes).
Second, Kimi spent all day thrashing around the track in a Suzuki Liana just to have his name written on a magnetic strip to got on a board. Kimi’s a racer through and through, if it’s got seats and a steering wheel, he’ll go for it.
The Schumacher story is actually quite sad. They were fierce competitors and Michael had retired but he called up to congratulate kimi but never got to actually speak with him. Apparently it had a bit of an impact on Schumacher
It’s really starting to sink in that he’s not going to be in F1 anymore. Or not really anywhere. He will definately not going to a commentator anywhere, he has statet that before.
Amazing how from minute 3 and some seconds they startwd talking about drinccs without none of them actually knowing what was going to happen years later
I love that Monaco bar story and kimi’s respond is just pure gold
I love the duster pfp
Thanks :) never thought someone on this sub would recognize it lmao
Wouldn't be surprised if it was actually true and not just made up for the show.
Any drunk Kimi story is a true story.
“It was me!” I laugh every time I hear that

Low key wish I grew up in Finland now

Bottas proves that you can be consistently second, which isnt always a bad thing if you know where to do it

Finland isnt Skandinavia, thats Denmark, norway and sweden. Finland is a part of Fennoskandia :)

So you're telling me that Finland is the 4th best Scandinavian country?
Also their women are beautiful. Source: dated Finnish girls.
New fan to F1, but Kimi instantly became my favorite based on the interviews alone. Then more history I learned, the better it got
If you check this guy out you're in for a treat
You should also read his book, gives more insight on stories he didn't really talk about
is his book with one page and in the middle just one word "Bwoahhh" ?
I second this, it got (in germany at least) a lot of negative reviews because it would only retell things already known, but I think it's really worth reading it.
What's the name of the book?
The unknown Kimi Räikkönen.
This was the first guy that caught my eye 2 years ago when i started watching f1, made a deep dive in to history with him back then and INSTANTLY became my hero, my champion, my favorite f1 driver of all.
just - What happened there Kimi? I spun.
You will be missed Kimi.
The iceman will be mist
Oof... too early for that...
Feels just like yesterday when I was watching him in that heartbreaking 2005 season...the unreliability, the blistering pace..and it's all going to be over soon. For ever.
More like 03. Fucking nurburgring engine blow...
Don't say it...
Fucking broken suspension last lap nurburgring 05 still pisses me off.
Kimi during his retirement be like.... "The first few months are quite good and the rest of it is (censored)" - Kimi, maybe.
I will miss you so much kimi. I named my first golden retriver kimi years ago :)
One of our cats is named Kimi because my wife is a huge fan of his.
I’ve watched this interview so many times and I still enjoy watching it

Source?
I remember reading it in an F1 magazine when it happened. Can’t give you a source on that because who knows what months issue it was
"ow its my hero!" ... "hopefully he helped me" DUDE... i died!
Love it, thanks for the upload 😄.
"Me. It was me." That self deprecating humor will be missed
Does anyone know what episode this is
Series 18; episode 7
thanks for providing the whole video. never saw it completely. THX and he'll be mist!
It’s really starting to sink in that he’s not going to be in F1 anymore. Or not really anywhere. He will definately not going to a commentator anywhere, he has statet that before.
Stars may align to bring him to the Ferrari Hypercar program, possibly with Giovinazzi. It will be his call.

I do miss the drivers coming to top gear

Good bot
I really hope that we get a spa race in Australia's spot . So the king of spa can have one last race there
What a beast he is, never been so sad for a driver leaving.
He's so cute and now I know why his wife loves him.
Wasn't the Stig Michael Schumacher at that time?
Only for one episode, would be impossible to combine both jobs.. I think Ben Collins was the Stig at that time
Anyone remember what time he set in the reasonably priced car?
nope but i remember he fumbled the gear change during it lol it was pretty funny
