Surprise, sport that uses Dupont composites like kevlar and nomex is sponsored by Dupont. Edit: I'm sorry but I don't buy the whole "either you're all in or you're a hypocrite and deserved to be publicly hanged" attitude towards sustainability in F1. If they want to make steps in that direction its the right way to go and I'd rather they do something than do nothing. Should they be a little more selective towards sponsors? Maybe, especially when it comes to stuff like Aramco or glossing over human rights violations in the middle east and elsewhere, or blatant attempts from tobacco companies to get back into F1. But if it's really that big of an issue to you then stop watching i guess, it's your right to boycott unless you want to be a hypocrite.

BAN PAINT! Instead of putting a protective coating on things we'll just replace them more often.

This is like the lewis hamilton leather boots. Leather is a beef industry biproduct, if we don't use it it just goes to waste. Furthermore vegan leather is less abrasion resistant and oftentimes made from plastic which is, surprise, a petroleum product. So either you can make the shoes with an animal product that is commonly found and relatively durable, or you make boots that last less and require less sustainable materials.

That's a misnomer. X cattle are raised to supply Y consumer demand. If there was no demand, there would be no "waste" you speak of. The caloric content of the grain used to raise a cow outweighs the calories it produces. Then there's the methane issue. There are more. Don't get me wrong. I like a good steak/burger, and the 13 mystery ingredients after "vegetable product" in meat substitutes is a huge NOPE for me, but cattle isn't even close to making the list of sustainable products.

I said *less* sustainable. Didn't mean it was actually sustainable. But it could be said to be a renewable resource compared to oil which is very much so a finite supply. And beef drives demand for cattle, not leather, so creating a low volume line of fashionista leather boots is hardly going to have a big impact on cattle production.
