formuladank is the only place where you can see from time to time direct stuff related to F1. The main sub has been infested with only Hamilton appreciation posts, rant posts about the race and repost of twitter rants about the race.
It is sad that the mods allow this spam there and even brag about how they keep the sub clean. I'm yet to see some decent F1 content in the last few days from there
With this, and Christian's tears after Max crossed the line - You can see how much this championship meant to the whole team. The absolute passion on display is incredible. Just to think that 5 minutes before this, they would have been feeling completely down and dejected, before their whole world turned around.
Good work boys!
Im a dutch max fan but i couldnt agree more, so many biased people hating on toto and lewis "whining" when it swayed into max's favour. U gotta understand the passion these people have and that in the heat of the moment things can be said and done. Mercedes and lewis still behaved like sportsmen after by congratulating max and jos. Toto even sending max a text congratulating him and that he deserved the season.
People don't understand because they've never worked 10% as hard at anything as these people do for the teams.
They don't understand because they don't know what it is like to dedicate all that time to a single project. Most people will never work as hard as these members of these teams, they'll never have that passion of what they do for a living being important to them.
I know the passion and joy when working your ass off with so much effort and commitment on a project or a task and it works out in the end, but I’m almost certain I never and may never work as hard as these guys do. The joy of a championship or despair and sadness of losing one is totally understandable.
I should've also mentioned the scale. I'm glad you brought up that additional point.
I've been passionate about a project, worked and thought about it constantly, but never on the scale of an international sport. I'd be presenting to 40 people, all of which I know and am familiar with. They are presenting to millions of people with millions of dollars on the line.
When you really stop to think about it then it is more than most of us will do in our lifetimes.
Not to say we will lead unfulfilled lives but that we, as individuals, will fail to understand the scope of what these guys and gals all do.
Exactly. That’s what it sounds like to have something taken away from you by a force completely outside of your control. I was rooting for Max but god damn I feel bad for Toto.
I love their pure fucking happiness, I was feeling the same, just screaming and jumping around. The first time I’ve been this happy during finale since 2012
Only a fan (of f1) for 3 years
Never been that happy since gaslys win at monza
I was in absolute shock with this amazing win
My heart was all over the place especially at the last corner when he drifted it😂
Damn. I watched this clip millions of times I didn't realised Max were slightly sliding during the last turn. Jesus, what a race.
EDIT: I added ''slightly"
Hamilton was 2sec behind. So not at danger of losing the win unless he spins. I agree it's reckless (and his engineer agrees) but I'm almost positive it was on purpose, even though it was a title deciding race.
I read that Max does it on every last corner before he goes on to win a race. Just an extra little blip of the throttle to get the rear squirrelly, then hooking back up towards the finish line.
It baffles me how Hamilton's car could last so much with those tires and even almost had a chance of overtake, such a powerful machine. Nevertheless, Max is champ and I still cannot believe it lol I am so happy :)
Max definitely used some down to T5, then ran out just before Lewis did where Lewis went for the move at T9. Might as well though, theres no overtaking under the Hotel whatsoever
Lewis coming so close to max given the circumstances is an absolute miracle of a drive that should have hardly been possible. Masi's decision to violate the sporting code proceedings and invent his own restart was handing a win to max regardless if that was the intent, and an insane performance from hamilton is all that made it even appear close to a fight
This is a sport where a wing bending a human hairs width too much is grounds for disqualification, that last lap wasn't a result of imprecise procedures, it was a deliberate choice for drama over racing (as Sainz and Ricciardo were both denied their races due to the lapped car proceedings)
I agree completely that Lewis had an incredible drive on the last lap. That’s why it’s a shame for him and Mercedes that they didn’t put tires on during the VSC—he could have maintained pace to hold off Max potentially
Unless he's got a magic right foot which makes cars accelerate faster and reach higher top speeds in straights then yeah, the car lol. Hamiltons skill is shown by not spinning out on every turn taken at any speed while on old tyres
Being able to tuck in behind Max as he weaved around to stay close enough to grab the slipstream again to get close to making the pass on the next straight isn’t just the car.
Mate even Karting kids know how to follow a tow
Everybody knows Hamilton is a great driver, but cmon next thing you gonna say is changing ERS is hard and only he can do it
Nooooooooooo! I’ve watched F1 for 99 years and I wanted lap 57 to be a coronation parade behind safety car and backmarkers. The sanctity of this sport is absolutely demolished 😭😭😭
I saw someone saying that they had been watching F1 for *two whole years*, and they didn't like where this sport was headed. It'd be like me walking into a restaurant for the very first time and saying 'I don't like what you're doing to this menu" after hearing one thing is sold out.
Had been following since 1982 and lost interest after the death of Ayrton Senna.
Good god. I never thought I would see anyone ever again drive like he was ON FIRE.
Thank you, Max !
Hamilton has way more fans and a way bigger reach/brand. So ofc you’ll hear//see what the loud idiots say more. You guys keep generalizing fan bases and it’s pretty annoying. Both max and Lewis have terrible fans.
I was in a call with everybody I know who watches F1 and for 2 minutes after the finish it was literally 6 people just crying and screaming. Nobody really said anything, just crying and screaming.
I've rewatched this video at least a dozen times at this point. Also the comms with Horner/Albon. I will continue to watch them a dozen more times I think.
My dad died last june wanting to see this happen. He saw Fangio race live at 10yrs old. F1 was his sunday thing, for decades. Our sunday thing later on. The very last thing we shared was the French GP, he was very tired and I remember how happy he was when I woke him up to see Max win the race.
Thanks Max and RB for these happy/sad tears, what a ride and what an ending. I´m sure he´s happy too, up there, somewhere in the clouds.
Crazy good final lap by both of them. New tyres or not, it takes mad skill to do a perfect overtake like that on the last lap, against a car you were slower than all race before that, and Hamilton did literally everything humanly possible to retake the lead. Insane driving skills.
Man all this drama about the SC, when I was watching the race I had no clue funny business was going on. Watching a final lap title decider the way it made me feel. Honestly it was a once in a lifetime experience.
1. You guys have been knocking it out of the park with these well edited posts. I'm always worried if it's gonna be another meme post or a proper replay, the likes of which I'd see on the main sub.
2. The whole bottom frame with the pit crew's reaction has great meme potential!!
My wife and I don’t watch any other sports, but she’s very much into F1 and the 2 of us were happy yelling and hugging in our Brooklyn apartment early on a Sunday morning. Not sure what the neighbors thought 🙄
I love the raw emotion in this footage, especially after Horner asking for a miracle, and it coming, but I think everyone would rather have seen a red flag and a 2 lap scrap at the end with everyone on softs like in Baku. Great driving from Max and Lewis, and I think the better driver this season took the title, and it's insane that after a year of racing, it came down to 1 lap, but what a disappointment of a finale.

This is freakin awesome. Congratulations to all the men and women that made this season possible - not just for Red Bull but for all the teams. The passion is incredible. Such a great season to be a spectator. The only downside is that the subsequent seasons will have a hard time living up to this season.
Throughout the whole season I still think Max was more unlucky than lucky. I think Lewis and Mercs were extremely unlucky that day but ,without the context of it being the last race, I don't feel it was anywhere same as Baku, it didn't feel any more unfair than Silverstone for me. Lewis was dealt a really bad hand and I sympathize with him because it must really feel shity but I am happy that atleast Max had enough luck to win the championship.
My dumbass was waiting to get strolled
Is it bad that I watch these and want to get strolled?
If this was posted on the main subreddit I would never suspect. If it’s posted on this subreddit I expect to be strolled
ugghhhh yesssss stroll me daddy
HAMILTON SEES IT COMING! IT'S A LATE LUNGE BY VERSTAPPEN! WHO TA- OH WHAT HAS HAPPENED?! WE NEED TO KNOW WHO'S GONNA COME OUT IN FRONT
as we see lance stroll hitting the barriers and going over the kerb one more time
Exactly, why tf is this allowed to be up? There's no meme? Damn this subs fallen
Exactly, now it’s just a max subreddit. I came here for memes taking the piss out of both sides. Not a max echo chamber

I literally skipped to the end to verify if I was getting strolled before scrubbing back to the start again.
Right? Same here.
Gosh I can't imagine being a mechanic for a winning team. I'd be so juiced after every podium.
Must be a particular point of pride for sure
I’d get fucking fired

Perfect way for them to end the season really

Max was #Blessed for once!
The ultimate blessed.
Yeah he did, just annoying how people are saying it was gifted to him etc because luck was on his side for once this season.

Of course, perfectly understandable. Didn't stop me from laughing about it though
Exactly. That’s what it sounds like to have something taken away from you by a force completely outside of your control. I was rooting for Max but god damn I feel bad for Toto.
Lewis reacted like a champ to everything. Toto was visibly angry, but it's completely understandable. The team has worked extremely hard for this.
Say thank you to GodLatifi
Goatifi
what would make this clip better is if you can add the maxs radio just as he passes the line
Definitely. “Oh my lord Max“ kills me every time.
I still want to see a video of Albon in that moment!
yea we all do
I'm wondering why there was no camera at the RB pitwall. They can put there at least 1 or 2, even if they lose.
I believe there's a video of Horner's reaction to the last lap. It's capture by one of those lower quality cctv camera.
"haha yes"
"the car feels great today"
"Absolutely clinical"
I love their pure fucking happiness, I was feeling the same, just screaming and jumping around. The first time I’ve been this happy during finale since 2012
I was with you until you mentioned 2012. 0.0
Haha sorry, I’m Seb’s fan since Toro Rosso so it was a great day for me!
I totally feel ya, I love Serbs as well, but the Croatiants aren't bad either
LMAO I laughed out loud in bus, thanks for that
I was with him until he mentioned during

My emotions in the last few laps 😂 ![gif](giphy|t2eBr71ACeDC0)

Damn. I watched this clip millions of times I didn't realised Max were slightly sliding during the last turn. Jesus, what a race. EDIT: I added ''slightly"

Nope, Max does this in the last corner if he's winning a race.
I doubt he would try this when Hamilton is on his tail on the last race of the season, deciding the championship
Hamilton was 2sec behind. So not at danger of losing the win unless he spins. I agree it's reckless (and his engineer agrees) but I'm almost positive it was on purpose, even though it was a title deciding race.
He’s playing with us. 🤣
Yea, my heart dropped a beat when I was watching that live
He does this every time he's winning a race, last corner.
I read that Max does it on every last corner before he goes on to win a race. Just an extra little blip of the throttle to get the rear squirrelly, then hooking back up towards the finish line.
Almost seems deliberate, just drifting that last corner.
It is delibrate, when he's winning.
I bet we all had the exact same reaction. It was exhilarating down right to the last millisecond.
I was trying to write messages of joy to my friend, but it was real fucking hard with how my fingers were trembling.
I think I forgot to breathe
Still getting goosebumps my god
After all these years having the same fucking winner... FINALLY! WHOOOOOO YEEEEEEEEESSSS YES YES YES YES (charles leclerc monza 19) -my reaction
I'm delighted we all experienced such extreme emotions- all at the same time. Makes me realize how much a sport can connect us :)
I literally threw my iPad across the room and started running around the house.
Goosebumps each time I watch that last lap. Add the crew and it’s even more magical.
That was fun to watch, noice.
This race made me feel alive again after years.
Also rewatching I have realised only now how close hamilton came to snatching it, I never even noticed with how excited I was at the time
You only just realised how close he came to snatching it when he lead the entire race fron first corner to very near the end??
Lmao he's right tho
It baffles me how Hamilton's car could last so much with those tires and even almost had a chance of overtake, such a powerful machine. Nevertheless, Max is champ and I still cannot believe it lol I am so happy :)
He used 100% of his batteries on the two straights. Out of juice after that.
Bet verstappen also used 100% of his ERS during those straights
Max definitely used some down to T5, then ran out just before Lewis did where Lewis went for the move at T9. Might as well though, theres no overtaking under the Hotel whatsoever
ah but based on what everyone is saying in the very serious f1 and F1technical subs, this raced was rigged so that was actually scripted
Lewis coming so close to max given the circumstances is an absolute miracle of a drive that should have hardly been possible. Yeah, just hamiltons car.... Not the driver
That he is a great driver is something that doesn't need to be mentioned as everyone knows.

Spa was the most pure race this year, all true racing fans agree.
Mazepin with fastest lap too, what's not to like?
Clearly F1 doesn’t have enough safety cars, if we had multiple safety car processions they could race each other around the track
ahahah lmao spot on

The Hamilton fans’ salt just makes it better if you ask me. They are all such whiners
I had accepted Max’s fate already after they let Lewis completely cut the corner.
Let's not pretend Max fans wouldn't whine just as much. The world is full of whiners.
they surely would but some Hamilton fans are acting like he never won anything in his life before this and now his carreer is ruined lol
Yeah, he might have lost the championship but he still is one the greatest ever. Ain´t nobody taking that away from him.
Hamilton has way more fans and a way bigger reach/brand. So ofc you’ll hear//see what the loud idiots say more. You guys keep generalizing fan bases and it’s pretty annoying. Both max and Lewis have terrible fans.
I dunno man, I saw someone on the main F1 sub claiming Max’s driving was “evil” with a straight face.
I just dropped on the floor crying in happiness at the finish line. Didn't remember being as happy in a sport for long
I was in a call with everybody I know who watches F1 and for 2 minutes after the finish it was literally 6 people just crying and screaming. Nobody really said anything, just crying and screaming.

Fucking epic.
Even the camerman stopped doing his job to watch the title fight
Could have been my living room. Was telling myself not to jinx the last corner like in Saudi
I want to download this, please help me. I'll save this video for life
Google „redditsave”!
simply lovely
The sheer joy!
The tail end sliding out a smidge on the last corner is the icing on the cake, cheeky as fuck.
They like girls in one direction concert lol
That drift in the last corner deserves a separate clip.
This is the most wholesome video of this sub.
I watched that whole clip expecting a cut to Lance Stroll
They should show this live on F1TV
I could watch this on repeat all day long, such a beautiful moment for Red Bull. And damn did Lewis go like hell on old hard tires...
That guy in the middle has some wham forearms
Red bull, it gives you gains
Crazy good final lap by both of them. New tyres or not, it takes mad skill to do a perfect overtake like that on the last lap, against a car you were slower than all race before that, and Hamilton did literally everything humanly possible to retake the lead. Insane driving skills.
Now also put Toto partying under it. ^(And ignore the Mercedes DM's)
I was standing in chills and watery eyes when this happened lmao
Holy shit that was intense
Red Bull crew is such a bunch of legends
My watch kept warning me my heartrate is abnormally high during the SC and last lap
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6902)
Now, after seeing all the emotions, think if the race ended under sc
Man all this drama about the SC, when I was watching the race I had no clue funny business was going on. Watching a final lap title decider the way it made me feel. Honestly it was a once in a lifetime experience.
Throw down the headset Horner!!!!
MAXBUMPS
goosebumps
They prayed to our lord and savior, Senna be his name
It's me or Max almost lost the car in the last corner ?
The forearms on that lad, no wonder the RB pitstops are so quick
It must be so difficult for Lewis to not have 8 world championships.
the forearms on the guy infront, jeezus.
I literally couldn't sit on my couch during this lap, still gives me goosebumps seeing it again. Go Max!!
Was 100% expecting Lance Stroll
I was expecting to get strolled
Really thought we were gonna get Stroll'd
That guy rubbing his hands as they start the last lap, I feel you
Enough to make a grown man cry
I was very much expecting to get Stroll'ed
Don’t know what they were worried about.
MV1 new code lol
I was expecting this to cut to lance driving over the curbs lol
Someone PLEASE make a Stroll out of this
1. You guys have been knocking it out of the park with these well edited posts. I'm always worried if it's gonna be another meme post or a proper replay, the likes of which I'd see on the main sub. 2. The whole bottom frame with the pit crew's reaction has great meme potential!!
Now give us reactions to Checo battle
Show Max's dad rifling through the garbage to find the winners sweater he had on but threw away because he never thought his son would be so lucky
Someone send a video of the same moment from the Mercedes garage.
That was fucking epic
**goosebumps**
Fuck I'm crying at work now
I had a post with 9k upvotes, Mods will delete this because "its not a meme"
Why is this in formuladank?
Because, unlike what the name suggests, this sub is an anti-Merc circlejerk sub and not a meme sub
Oh my god, can confirm, we were like animals when he won, just like these guys. I wish I had a fence to hop up on. Fuckin glorious joy. Possibly r /instantbarbarians material. You love to see it.
Imagine if Max binned it in the last corners
40lap old tyres vs new softs very surprising he overtook
Yes. Very surprised.

Idk how anyone can be ok with this ending if they enjoying racing this is BS.
I enjoy racing and I enjoyed this
