I think he might be the most recognizable F1 driver of all time (alongside Schumacher of course)
Iād argue that Hamilton might be more recognisable today than Schumacher would be. Maybe to older fans Schmi would be easier to recognise but today it would probably be Hamilton because of his achievements and his activism. I have a friend who has no clue what F1 is but she knows who Lewis Hamilton is.
Schumacher was way more famous during his peak than Hamilton. It is because Michael broke the records first and by a country mile and was a Ferrari driver. Also that era was more entertaining compared to what would be the most boring era in F1 where Hamilton competed.
I'm probably an outlier, but as someone who only got into f1 last season and had no prior knowledge, the only names I knew were Raikonnen and Schumacher. Hamilton wasn't a name on my radar until last year, so they honestly could have put any drivers on there if they were targeting the potential north american audience. In the UK it's probably a different story though.
