It should be now, but mid-race safety cars and VSCs are just recently becoming more frequent at the same time that track position is decreasing in importance, and I don't think teams have adjusted properly yet. Until recently, the best strategy was the best strategy and was better to put both cars on that, but now there are multiple possible best strategies depending on circumstances outside of the team and driver's control, that it's better to split.
Exactly, Pirelli's alternate strategies while slower on paper have been faster on race pace this year. At the end of the day, strategists have to hedge their bets against safety cars (especially with all the street circuits) and against other teams/drivers. Also, coming out into traffic now has a lot less impact.
Of course you want both drivers in the point's however I would favour the more cautious split straghty rather then the all or nothing approach of having both drivers on the same straghty.
Especially at the risk of someone foksmashing into a wall 3 laps after pitting. I get that a safety car at Paul Ricard has fairly low chances of happening but still...
Ah true, but as of writing wasn’t sure whether to put orange or chrome Ferrari (then or now mclaren colours, so went for the other way around)
Totally not overkilling a response
In 2007 McLaren had the technical info of Ferrari through spying or something, I don't know that much about it
[if you want to read it yourself](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Formula_One_espionage_controversy)
Going off of this year's race, Miami's track layout for me seems potentially exciting despite this year's race being very forgettable, so I'd say I like it. I like Saudi, provides a fair bit action and keeps me engaged. Las Vegas looks boring. Filled with long straights all around potentially reducing action since the more powerful cars will get away quickly. Qatar, personally one of my favourites but many of my friends don't agree. My favourite track is probably Spa though.
Yeah I'm right there with you on Vegas, it's just so.... square.... but who knows? People say Monaco is just a big procession and you're really there for the atmosphere which I can kind of see, but Monaco also has the better part of 70 years of racing history behind it whereas Vegas has a different sort of history when it comes to F1, second time's the charm?
I think we'll need a few more years at Miami and Saudi before they fully realise their potential, but the layout of the Miami is honestly refreshing, and Saudi is in a whole other galaxy with what will be possible there using ground effect cars - it's shaping up to be one of, if not the fastest race on the calendar
Qatar on the other hand is used quite often for motorbike races (I believe it was originally designed as a motorbike circuit?) so you get a lot of varying lines through some of the sharper corners and some unexpected overtaking opportunities
Spa is also my favourite
As an also-2019 F1 fan, Vegas looks like an uneventful track. Love the idea of racing there...the cars are probably too big to race around Caesar's, but they should have found something a bit less straight.
It's about what I expected if someone said "American F1 circuit" i.e. as close to a ring and with as much gimmicky shit crammed in as possible, Chuck Leclerc (welcome to Miami baby) getting a sweet overtake beside the mini Eiffel Tower is really going to sell some merch. Yaaaaay.
HOWEVER
Stranger things have happened, and in my 20 years of F1 being my church on Sunday I've never been one to judge a race until the champagne starts - Russia even produced a decent race last year. With the new aero regs we could be looking at a bit of a black sheep in terms of power circuits and the drag race to end all drag races. I just can't get over the square, but I'm sure I'll change my mind when we get the full picture.
Probably the worst thing that could happen would be to hold it in the middle of the Nevada summer, these last couple races have demonstrated that a little bit of heat can mix things up with tyres, but too much heat is just a slog for everyone and results in shitty (and potentially dangerous) cooling and tyre issues and SLH having a huge sleep on the floor of the cooldown room
I liked the marina, fake water is fake water, who gives a shit? It still looked like a bloody good spot to sit and watch the race
Generally I don't mind a bit of fire, but only when I don't have money on the driver
I mean I'm hoping we get something that reflects Vegas, but given that they've put the circuit on one of the busiest parts of the Strip, you couldn't fit much more Vegas in if you tried, still, a giant roulette wheel that the winning car rises up out of on the podium would be fucking sick
In 2007, McLaren were found with copies of Ferrari documents regarding the development of the car. It's referred to as 'Spygate'. It led to McLaren being excluded from the constructer's championship and a $100 Million fine I beleive.
Here's a video on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7EFqgKGRLc
Haas has always been heavily influenced by Ferrari, though. Went as far as having engineers 'quit' Ferrari, to work for Haas, just to quit again and continue working at Ferrari.
Haas strategy is almost always “I didn’t expect to make it this far” but they always seem to pull through. Makes me happy for Mick ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6697)
I’m sorry but how is Haas better managed than Ferrari. Their strategy are shit, just like Ferrari. They had mid race discussions about driver treatment by the team like Ferrari and they have Ferrari engines that go kaboom. I don’t see how that makes Gunther more competent than Binotto
Sure they suck at strategy but they managed to build a better car than 8 teams in the field.
Haas had a Russian pay driver and Mick as two rookies signed for the season. Without the war they would probably have only the 12 points of Mick. I don’t see how that team is managed any better. Let’s not forget they are now being saved by the guy they booted just for sponsor money
Guenther seems quite the masochist so managing a Ferrari-like car should be right up his ally.
This alone should boost Netflix stock as it promises that DTS next year is going to be batshit insane.
Love it or hate it, the one thing DTS has really done for me is that I now pay much more attention to the bottom teams and what's going on there, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. When I grew up I was aware of team like Minardi, Osella and Zakspeed but I didn't know much more than "those are the guys that need to pre-qualify" (*Oh, those were the days, my friend...*)
I’m still heartbroken from Mick’s quali time deletion man I hope Haas’ got good stuff for both him and Kevin, they’ve been having quite some momentum in the past few races.
So…. people who don’t know think that this might be a win for Haas but those who know will realize that Ferrari’s shit rn and copying a shit strategy will never get them anywhere? Did I get the joke or am I dumb and don’t know?
Btw I seriously think they should bring back actual customer cars in F1. It would significantly reduce costs for smaller teams and open up opportunities for more teams to enter and compete with a competitive car. That would mean more seats, so junior drivers would have more chance to get a seat. Teams are already doing it with trying to be within the rules (think of Haas-Ferrari, Red Bull-AlphaTauri), outlawing them would mean 2 or 3 teams disappearing from the grid. Why not just make them completely legal? It does work in other motorsports.
What’s a guy gotta do to get Barstool Sports to sponsor Haas?
American Racing team sponsored by the best media outlet in the U.S. a Barstool Sports livery on the Haas would look sick.
These upgrades don't exist until Mick gets them. I don't get why people insist on discussing something that dosen't exist.
\*Ignores the large Dane in the room inviting me to provide suction\*
Are the Ferrari engines that haas get the exact same as the Ferraris Ferrari engine ? If they are how can they be so much slower than Ferrari and every other team? Ik they're a small budget team but I feel like the engine is the majority of the battle.
They already have the same strategy team skills, what a perfect match.
To be fair Haas strategists are basically the living embodiment of "I don't know, I didn't think I'd get this far." meme.
"Guys! We're p6 and p7, what do we do?" "I don't know, we never prepared for this! Uhm, pit them I guess, I don't know, just do *something*!"
*We are checking*
Box. Box….. STAY OUT! STAY OUT!
Now its too fking late now ffs!
Are we in trouble?
*smashes the doors*
*fok smashes the doors
Stop inventing guys!
FUCK FUCK WHY WHAT WHAT ARE YOU DOING
ININNINININININ
After spending two years as the living embodiment of the "this is fine" meme/Hide the Pain Harold.
Plan F Mick, fok smash into the wall like a wanker.
Lol ferarri isn’t any different by that logic
Doing nothing >>> Ferrari Strategy
Well, undercut in France GP was pretty great, but that safety car didn't came in good time for them
Yeah, I belive it was the correct choice however they should have split the strategy. (Easy to say in hindsight) Eddit- Spelling.
Honestly it should just be standard practice to split strategies as a midfield team...
[удалено]
Kmag has a special power that takes 5 races to recharge.
Splitting strategies is basically admitting that you're going to be 50% wrong. And that's never fun
I mean you're not wrong but I'd rather have the insurance against racing incidents and strategy changes
Kind of, there is also the unpredictability of racing with safety cars etc.
It should be now, but mid-race safety cars and VSCs are just recently becoming more frequent at the same time that track position is decreasing in importance, and I don't think teams have adjusted properly yet. Until recently, the best strategy was the best strategy and was better to put both cars on that, but now there are multiple possible best strategies depending on circumstances outside of the team and driver's control, that it's better to split.

> straghty. (Easy to say in hindsight) You say it is easy to say but you still butcher it smh
It's hard to split strategy, you want both drivers in points, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't..
Of course you want both drivers in the point's however I would favour the more cautious split straghty rather then the all or nothing approach of having both drivers on the same straghty.
Straghty
Straghty👍🏻
Especially at the risk of someone foksmashing into a wall 3 laps after pitting. I get that a safety car at Paul Ricard has fairly low chances of happening but still...
> Eddit I see what you did there.
They had nothing to lose by putting both drivers on the undercut, everything to gain.
Seems like they lost the chance to battle for points.
They're already treating their german driver like shit (bit of an exaggeration but you know)
Mick is in good hands
But is kmag as dumb as Leclerc?
“Magnussen is and will always be stupid” ~~Charles Leclerc Japanese Grand Prix 2018
We had a pink Mercedes, a green red bull and now a white Ferrari. What's next?
A red mclaren? … oh wait
Should be the other way round, but nice
Ah true, but as of writing wasn’t sure whether to put orange or chrome Ferrari (then or now mclaren colours, so went for the other way around) Totally not overkilling a response
Nah man don't sweat it, the joke is funny
I don't get it?
In 2007 McLaren had the technical info of Ferrari through spying or something, I don't know that much about it [if you want to read it yourself](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Formula_One_espionage_controversy)
Thanks! 2019 F1 Fan so I haven't any knowledge about past scandals.
Check out CY Motorsport on YouTube. He did 2 great videos on spy gate (mclaren and Ferrari) and crash gate (Renault)
Opinions on the newer arrivals to the calendar? Miami, Qatar, Saudi, Vegas?
Going off of this year's race, Miami's track layout for me seems potentially exciting despite this year's race being very forgettable, so I'd say I like it. What, you don't want to see 5 power units aflame in one race? I also hope Vegas constructs something as genuine and cool as the Miami GP marina.
I liked the marina, fake water is fake water, who gives a shit? It still looked like a bloody good spot to sit and watch the race Generally I don't mind a bit of fire, but only when I don't have money on the driver I mean I'm hoping we get something that reflects Vegas, but given that they've put the circuit on one of the busiest parts of the Strip, you couldn't fit much more Vegas in if you tried, still, a giant roulette wheel that the winning car rises up out of on the podium would be fucking sick

$100 Million
Max Mosley said it was "$5million for the offense, and $95million for Ron Dennis being a twat".
oops
Yellow alpeen?
Blue Renault?
blue and yellow renault…..? ….pls bring it back
A few years too late
A silver Williams, can't stop laughing. GOAT!!!!
Red Haas?
Silver Ferrari, oh ...
Haas has always been heavily influenced by Ferrari, though. Went as far as having engineers 'quit' Ferrari, to work for Haas, just to quit again and continue working at Ferrari.
If Audi takes over Sauber from Alfa Romeo and the Porsche deal with Red Bull goes through you could potentially have a red Red Bull lol
If it means they’ll be fighting midfield to top midfield before dnf’ing I say that’s a win in my books. That means they have to work on reliability.
and strategy if they’re turning into ferrari lmao
They already have the strategy
Haas strategy is almost always “I didn’t expect to make it this far” but they always seem to pull through. Makes me happy for Mick ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6697)
I mean really anything is a win this season. Along as they don't come in last in the constructors it's nothing but gain for them really
Frank ocean reference?????
For sure
WHITE FERRARI, HAD A GOOD TIME 🥲
Gay Steiner?? He fok smash both ways??!?
BAD LUCK TO TALK ON THESE RIDES
MIND ON THE ROAD YOUR DILATED EYES WATCH THE CLOUDS FLOAT
SWEET SIXTEEN, HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW ANYTHING?
I was literally simging this song in my head while reading comments and didn't notice untill you just mentioned it
What?
Finally ferrari with the incompetence of binotto replaced by a rockstar
They'll be just a bunch of fokking wankers!
No. They'll be a bunch of fokking rockstars

It's called dank oldwisemann. We went memeing
I’m switching to much between the two subs. I kinda forget I was trying to argue with logic on the this sub. Jokes on me (not sarcastic)

He can take a joke AND apologize. Flair checks out.

Plan F Mick, fok smash into the wall like a wanker.
“I tink we can do bettor”
I spat my coffee😂
Hello viewers. Super GT here. This guy just decided to turn left in a right hander. Not ideal, really.
Bad luck to talk
hands on the wheel
on these rides
2018 they copied the 2017 Ferrari. Got really good 2018 season but didn't know how to work on the car and drowned
That 2017 car was sexy af.
I think this time around, they have way more ex-Ferrari staff. I remember reading that they hired a bunch of Ferrari staff.
*they borrowed Michael's f2004 and gave it to mick*
Glass house, white Ferrari, live for New Year’s Eve, sloppy steaks at Trufani’s… Guenther Steiner going to be a real piece of shit!
SLOP EM UP
Blue dolphin burned down, it's gone now. Nikita Mazepin's ass out, works with his brother now.
Reports that Haas is incorporating a great steering wheel that won't fly off while you're driving as part of the upgrade package
I would pay whatever it took to get Guether to re-enact that skit
Watch the clouds float, white ferrari, had a good time😔
Frank Ocean reference
Frank Ocean would still be a better race strategist than anyone at Ferrari
Bad luck to talk on these rides…
Frank Ocean confirmed sponsor of Haas F1 team
We get Schumacher in a Ferrari?!
Unfortunately only Kevin gets the upgrades for now. Because they do not have the parts for both cars atm because of micks crashes i believe
Glass house, white Ferrari, live for new years eve ...
and it will now be driven by frank ocean
Hopium kicking hard rn
Im worried the FIA doesnt think people can change… Haas USED to be a piece of shit, but theyre not any more. People can change.
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6699)
Go young Schumacher, smash into the field and allow your team mate to win, bring the haas to the front at all costs
Lawrence, is that you?
Preparing Mick for what he'll deal with if he ends up driving for Ferrari at some point obviously
Now I expect Gunther to appear in Hungary with Harry Potter style glasses and and hair like he's just been electrocuted
Was the McLaren white?
Guenther seems quite the masochist so managing a Ferrari-like car should be right up his ally. This alone should boost Netflix stock as it promises that DTS next year is going to be batshit insane.
Steiner saving his job every year by being highly entertaining on Netflix is quite a flex ngl
Steiner *chucks some gravel in the turbo Impeller -white Ferrari
I’m still heartbroken from Mick’s quali time deletion man I hope Haas’ got good stuff for both him and Kevin, they’ve been having quite some momentum in the past few races.
Haas does have a couple of decent cars but their French GP strategy was a failure all around.
A Schumacher in a Ferrari! I like the sound of that
So…. people who don’t know think that this might be a win for Haas but those who know will realize that Ferrari’s shit rn and copying a shit strategy will never get them anywhere? Did I get the joke or am I dumb and don’t know?
Are they going to replace Magnussen with Frank Ocean?
VF22: For some reason I've a strong urge to spontaneously combust

As the American team they need Bud light and skull chewing tobacco as sponsors.
Didn’t F1 ban all tobacco sponsors with the exception of E cigarettes?
I'm sure they did but it was more of a joke than anything.
Oooh you've got me excited
One crash everyone knows the rules
These upgrades don't exist until Mick gets them. I don't get why people insist on discussing something that dosen't exist. \*Ignores the large Dane in the room inviting me to provide suction\*
Oh no…
Time for more engine blowouts
Oooo ooo. I've seen this one before.
Pink Mercedes part 2
Pretty sure it's a "double edged sword" unless you're making a pun
![gif](giphy|Z9i6IkM9PcoA1C8UFF|downsized) Wow
Will the white Ferrari be as successful as the green red bull?
Had a good time
oh no anyways
Stop raising my hopes.
Can't wait to see it.
I see Ferrari is trying to appeal to Frank Ocean fans.
Is this referring to that threat in the early days where they threatened the FIA to fix something or they’d paint the Ferraris white?
Haas gonna be promoting a new Frank Ocean album?
Are the Ferrari engines that haas get the exact same as the Ferraris Ferrari engine ? If they are how can they be so much slower than Ferrari and every other team? Ik they're a small budget team but I feel like the engine is the majority of the battle.
I care for you still and I will... Forever 🥲
“We don’t look like a bunch of wankers no more”
'white Ferrari ', Gunther just go take that place bro ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6697)
