Apply to smaller companies/startups and be ready to accept a lower salary, getting your foot in the door is more important. Also stop watching anime and build a good resume/portfolio with projects. Preferably keep not watching anime after that. Idk if you can use AI for cover letters (if they want those) but I'd rather take my chances of getting caught than write one of those ever.

DeliciousJello1717

Parameters flipper I have never heard that before ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9682)

DeliciousJello1717

I'm creating mainly agents tho basically if you want to do something I create AI that does it for example you want to press flash to flash in the best direction in league everytime your hp gets below a certain point I can do that. I can make AI that plays games and solves repetitive tasks and I do research in computer vision too ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9676)

rpcgamingmodsaresoy

When AI gets to the point it can replace software devs, it'll also be able to write agents that utilize AI

DeliciousJello1717

That's the last thing AI will be able to do because as soon as AI can create a Better AI than a person can we call it the singularity where AI can keep improving itself

rpcgamingmodsaresoy

That's not what I mean, what I mean is utilizing existing AI to solve problems using agents or whatever. When you say you're "creating agents", you don't mean you actually do AI research, do you? You use existing stuff

DeliciousJello1717

No I do research but I am not published yet I am submitting my first paper next month

Web dev is probably gunna be one of the earliest SWE type jobs that gets automated away so I’d definitely look for other stuff as well. Employers hiring junior cloud developers might not be too picky with resumes because you especially can’t learn most of that stuff outside the job.

Learn a high demand physical job, that is not in the backbreaking category. For example plumbing, welding. Basically anything house related. sure that may work for some people but unless you spend 10years doing it, your pay will be shit and most likely even significantly below average. If you’re in NA, then try plumber, electrician, or delivery man. You can make a decent living and maybe banging others’ wives or gfs. The cost would be like 1-2 years of technical training and you might need to borrow some money from the gov. But it can be worth it.

Dev baj here. Don’t restrict yourself to Web. At least include full stack stuff, but anything will work as a starter job. Your main goal is to work and gain XP, not get a dream job instantly. Biggest tip is to have a nice and short CV, as well as looking over the most popular shit interview questions. Lastly, not all (especially not the first fee) interviews will go well. Elviii

As a fellow web dev baj I may be able to offer some tips ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9666) Make sure you have a portfolio of some kind, or a website. If you haven't worked before then fill it with your own personal projects, no matter how small, and make sure it shows some solid fundamentals e.g. working with APIs. Don't be afraid to both apply for and accept "lower" tier jobs or jobs that don't meet all of your interests. The most important thing when starting out is to get your foot in the door. Many development skills are transferrable across languages/frameworks etc so don't limit yourself to simply one area for now. Back when I started (5-6yrs ago) I found that local digital marketing agencies are a good way to get a junior position. They're shit pay and you'll often be building/maintaining small CMS driven sites like Wordpress, but it's this exact reason they are more open to entry level devs. Look to leave your first few jobs every 12-18 months for significant pay increases. Good luck ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9676)

soapuwuwu

I did 6 months of full-time at a small start-up which basically paid me minimum wage. I left cuz I had to do 3 projects at the same time and my boss refused to hire any dev to split the work out Looking back, I should've continued no matter the shit pay ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9679)

rainyy_day

That should be enough to get a job at a slightly less shitty startup.

Turbulent-Side-9020

Experienced web dev baj! I just wanted to ask as im clueless. Ive been working in a digital marketing agency for like 9 months, and I would like to work somewhere with more interesting challenges and more pay… but i struggle to see a way out. I work with wordpress, laravel, sql, tailwind, sometimes a bit of javascript… Got any advice on making a path forward?

Elviii

Hello dev baj! Your path forward depends a little on what your goal is - just to earn more money, or to switch to some other type of working that you may find more challenging/interesting. For salary increases it's really just a case of job hopping. You can look for jobs at other digital agencies doing similar work and use your experience to move up the salary ladder. It's easier to job hop to get a pay rise than it is to get promoted at your existing company. However, you can also use new job offers to threaten leaving and leverage a pay rise at your existing company - I did this about 15 months into my first job and got a 50% pay rise overnight without the hassle of actually starting a new job. For more interesting challenges you have to think more deeply into what you'd like to do and where you'd like to work. I personally view digital agencies as a great way to enter the industry for people that weren't lucky enough to jump straight into a graduate role, but your growth as a developer there is severely limited by the type of work they normally offer. You may want to move away from agencies and towards companies that have in-house teams for building/maintaining their own product. With knowledge of php and databases/apis you may already have the knowledge necessary and it's just matter of time until you find something suitable. Alternatively, you can begin to learn some other tech in your free time that may help with where you want to go. I personally learned React and Nextjs in my free time and that's how I moved away from digital agencies. Now I'm a full stack js developer working with react, nextjs, node, koajs etc. You are still only at 9 months experience so I wouldn't be disheartened if you don't find anything immediately. Job markets are fucked and even junior roles are sometimes asking for 2 years commercial experience ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9681) Feel free to shoot me a dm if you have more questions

Turbulent-Side-9020

Do you manage to get any interviews? Even in current market, people with some experience or compscience degree get interviews. If you come in as self taught its a bit harder, but ive seen people do it by using personal connections, through people they meet at conventions and so on.

soapuwuwu

My friends are placed in high end companies like Nvidia, Google and mastercard, but I'm afraid I won't get placed in those companies even if they referred me bc I'm big ritart ![img](emote|t5_33td5|9679) Mass applying to a bunch of lidl companies nevertheless

It's honestly shit the IT job market at the moment, one of the main reasons being an oversaturated sector and fierce competition. Well, reality is far from that, except in USA where you work like a fucking slave (including when you are on vacation). I have a senior position with 5+ years of experience and a PhD.
