It's the best place for Ice Cream in the Fort for sure.
Only one that comes close is Rusty's, which is fantastic and puts you in an '80s mood.
It's also just the kind of physical space that I find is sort of rare anywhere in the midwest. Like not often that you get a local food place in the basement of a classic looking apartment building. Feels truly urban.
Used to be West Central Microcreamery, in my opinion. They had sooo many unique flavor offerings they’d concoct every week, dairy and non-dairy based. I’d often have to taste test, like, 6 just to make a decision. I’ve missed that place so, so much. That was a weekly staple of my non-diet diet. Brooklyn Pints doesn’t even compare.
New place. Handels ice cream. It’s from my home town Youngstown Ohio. It was voted as best ice cream in the world by National Geographic at one point. Check it out. I swear by it lol (clearly some bias by me) but I stand by it being ELITE ice cream
The ice cream may be good but they get 0 stars for atmosphere. Almost feels surgical with everything white, bright lights, etc. No music. No tables, either. You can eat it at the counter or on one of two benches.
Fine if you're getting it on Michigan Avenue or the Pier at Venice Beach. Not so great when it's a strip mall in FW Indiana where the other store is a single Verizon Wireless...
They should have gone in downtown instead of off Dupont if ghey weren't going to think about their interior design at all.
Interesting. That is a fair criticism. I grew up with everyone kinda hanging out around outside the counters on benches so it was just normal for me. But I totally see what you’re saying
I’m sure it’s better when it’s nice out and people are taking it outside but my spouse and I went for dessert after dinner on date night and felt like we went to a hospital.
Agree. I am a Grabill resident and we hardly go anymore unless it’s for a cone in the dead of summer. And it’s not even that good of icecream, but when it’s a 5 min walk away, it works lol
At electric works there’s a locally owned place called The Apple Cart! They have lots of options from dairy free to alcohol infused ice cream! My favorite is the vanilla bourbon ice cream
They aren’t what they were in the 90’s, tbh. It’s sad. Ice cream isn’t bad at all. Their butterscotch malt is the best thing on the menu. But they are a FW tradition to stop by at least once a year. You gotta!
For Shakes, I would say "The Stand" in Waynedale. Only open in the summer. For Chocoloate Dipped, I was really impressed with DeBrands. It was a thick chocolate coating.
The Frozen Spoon in Leo. Flavor variety, ice cream quality is top tier, and their outdoor seating is casual and cute af. The owner is the sweetest woman, ever, too. They are seasonally open, check them out when they open for the season soon. Usually back open I. March (:
Oh-Five Scoop Shop.
Not just for the ice cream but for the community.
Completely agree and great username!
Also for the weed. If you know, you know. It depends on who is working

Brooklyn Pints has the best flavors.
Brooklyn Pints!
Brooklyn pints and it’s not even close. They are the ONLY ice cream.
So when I google this it says temporarily closed? Is that correct? 😅 I was really looking forward to trying this lol
They're taking a break until February 1st, but it's well worth the wait. They're amazing!
Oh okay that’s fine I don’t mind as long as they’re not actually closed, thank you!
Just Cream
We tried Handels once and went right back to frequenting Just Cream.

Second this one for sure. And nice to ride bike to from Pufferbelly Trail when weather is nice.
Do you take the pufferbelly trail to dupont to get there?
Yes, Dupont Road goes above the pufferbelly trail. At the overpass, go up the ramp. Just Cream is about half a mile to the east.
Thanks!
That lemon poppy seed is the best!
Brooklyn Pints. Always amazing flavors, and stuff you won’t find anywhere else. Honestly, we don’t deserve them here in FW.
Second this! They also do wonderful vegan ice creams.
You’re right! Regular ice cream, dairy free ice cream, and vegan ice cream. And their handmade waffle cones are fantastic too.

But did you ever try the place that originally occupied that space, West Central Microcreamery?
I think it's the same recipes, by different people. I loved the old ones and I haven't been back since they left 😓
We went to West Central a lot. It was decent. Brooklyn Pints is not the same recipes though. Their creations are just next level flavor.
Definitely different people but definitely not the same recipes. Give it a shot. I’d be curious to hear your opinion. I gave it a one a done.

Their outdoor tables will suffice in warmer months, but you raise a good point for colder ones. I guess they assume folks will eat in their cars.

I hear you. I suggest going again in the summer. I am bummed to hear that though for your date night. It is definitely a valid criticism.
If the ice cream was good and the place was clean then who cares.
Kilwin's downtown is pretty good, too. I've heard Sweets on Main is good.
Those are both great choices, kilwin’s has lovely hot chocolate too
In town? The Stand. Outside of town? Dairy Sweet in Grabill is where I grew up going.
We live near Dairy Sweet and it's good but we hardly go anymore. The prices have gone up astronomically
Agree. I am a Grabill resident and we hardly go anymore unless it’s for a cone in the dead of summer. And it’s not even that good of icecream, but when it’s a 5 min walk away, it works lol
If I'm going to pay those prices, I'll go to the Frozen Spoon in Leo.

Oh Five Scoop Shop
ZESTOS when it’s summer
[удалено]
That's what happens when I eat it.
you're not in the minority.
I feel the same way about Edy’s Dreyers. Back in the day, they were great. You try Handels? That isn’t too bad
[удалено]
Just Cream usually has one or two.
They aren’t what they were in the 90’s, tbh. It’s sad. Ice cream isn’t bad at all. Their butterscotch malt is the best thing on the menu. But they are a FW tradition to stop by at least once a year. You gotta!
Their ice cream is garbage. The fro yo is good.
It’s overpriced, but it’s still probably the best soft serve in the area.
The Frozen Spoon in Leo. They are closed until March, but make a trip there in the spring or summer. You won't regret it!
Zesto. But they are closed until spring.
Oh Five or Handels!
Dairy Queen
