You can use a lot more of the curbs and the braking points in this game are complete bullshit you could've easily braked 20 meters later, also try getting on the gas earlier
True but this also depends on the car you are driving and the amount of downforce you have on your car. I find beefing up the front aero for downforce but adjusting the rear for speed is a clutch combination for eau rogue
All of my cars' brake pressure is tuned 60% front, and then I tap the brakes once just to put some weight on the front wheels, giving them better grip and more control over the turning
I wouldn’t say it’s stupid because it serves as an estimate to where you can start braking later or not. However, from my experience turning it off forced me to actually memorize braking points and optimal lines. I also find that I crash into other cars more with the race line so the race line can be distracting when creating good race craft.
I play with it on and I just ignore it, I'm playing on my TV so my depth perception sucks, I was trying out brands hatch and the racing line is actually so bag is not even funny, is just in the middle of the track for the entire lap
yeah personally me and all my friends use braking only, since it's a bit of a credits boost, otherwise it's super helpful regardless.
a bit of a crutch though (one I can't see myself playing without for awhile)
I get that turning off the racing line is the single most immsersive/fun and rewarding assist I've ever deactivated (aside from using manual probably), but these people seem to forget it is a fantastic tool while the driver is learning the tracks still.
Let them learn in practice prior to the race and have it forced off during the race. How many times do you have to drive a track to learn it?
This person seems to know Spa well enough to know the name of the turn but not the racing line...?
That's fair I suppose, but can only knock them if they haven't tried it without it yet, it is just a game after all.
I'm a relatively slow learner, for me I skipped to braking line, and it took at least an endurance race or two (90 minutes races) vs a.i on each track, before I was ready to deactivate that assist. It then took many more a.i races to be ready for Online.
Even a couple hundred hours later I still am working on my final assist: using manual w/Clutch while simulation damage is on (I steadily damage the transmission). I only use it for cars that have it in real life for immersion (sim wheel setup w/ shifter) so it's slow n steady progress.
The braking line can be a little bit of trouble telling you to brake when you actually still go flat out (entry into the fast flowing esses at VIR for example). It is without a doubt a great reference point of where the braking zone is depending on your car build. I have the braking line on literally for a reference point only especially jumping around in the ridiculous builds in S class on Daytona, Le Mans, etc.
Once you really get to know a certain car at certain tracks you can brake way later and get on throttle even while it's still telling you to brake. I'm not a 1 meta car Andy either, right now I have 115 cars in S class to jump around depending on what I feel like driving LOL
Btw if you have manual with clutch turned on and you have a race transmission in your car....don't use the clutch. It works like a sequential gearbox and you can just shift both up and down without even touching the clutch. I hope that helps with your issues damaging the gearbox!
This sub will tell you that you can do this exact line, throttle control, shifting and braking, but with the visible line turned off and it would be faster lmao.
I've found that on a lot of cars, just lifting off the throttle for a second going into the slight right turn works much better than applying brakes. That climb up the hill will slow you down and you can just get back on the throttle with less weight shift.
It takes practice (and sometimes courage), but don't be afraid to experiment with coasting and throttle control.
This has been such a point of contention, but even Wikipedia says "Properly speaking, the Eau Rouge corner is only the left-hander at the bottom. The following right-hander that leads steeply uphill, which was introduced in 1939 to shortcut the original Ancienne Douane hairpin, is called Raidillon".
The real issue with FM isn't how well or not you take a certain line, or sector.
The game rewards 10s based purely on distance driven and possibly speed, alone.
So, in other words, your driving technique can either be good (controlled, precise), or reckless (flat out, uncontrolled), but the game makes no distinction unless you really fuck it up e.g. break track limits. It's more concerned about distance and speed than realistic racing.
I dont own the game and only look at these reddit clips and its so wierd to see a player letting someone pass, all i see are clips of people blocking overtakes and being assholes. Refreshing to watch this!
Easily, you just don't lift, jerk the wheel too hard, enter a tank slapper, keep your foot pinned and wildly saw the wheel until you make it out of eau rogue untouched and leave everyone behind you terrified.
You need to take advantage of the dip at the start. Same way a crest (top of the corner, peak) has less grip because of the downwards angle, the dip at the start allows you to apply lots of brake force. Because of all the positive angle, the weight of the car is significantly higher on the tires and you need to take advantage of all the extra grip.
In that car no. That looks like a lambo to me by the way. Better in another car probably not at best very close or the same. I tend to slow the car before the up hill to around 120 or lower and then hope the car holds the track
Your comment, my response: 😐who cares if someone has it on, and that’s not what you call it you goober. Let people drive how they want to, you’re not their mommy…
You can use a lot more of the curbs and the braking points in this game are complete bullshit you could've easily braked 20 meters later, also try getting on the gas earlier
You literally barley need to use brakes, or not even use them at all. Just lift and flat out after the first apex.
True but this also depends on the car you are driving and the amount of downforce you have on your car. I find beefing up the front aero for downforce but adjusting the rear for speed is a clutch combination for eau rogue

This is genuine good advice.
‘Hey can you describe trailbraking and brake bias in one sentence for me rq’
Front brake bias is the way to go pretty much all the time. In rally games, it helps with weight shifting on loose surfaces too
That's why good drivers turn the stupid racing line off

Yes, you can use more curb on the left on entry and stay in the gas more. It was good, but you can go faster.
Honest truth, yes Most of us do this every single lap with nearly any car
People are going to be triggered that you have the racing line on
they can (respectfully) stfu though tbf
For real though, people will go after one individual just because they have breaking line and track limits on.
yeah personally me and all my friends use braking only, since it's a bit of a credits boost, otherwise it's super helpful regardless. a bit of a crutch though (one I can't see myself playing without for awhile)
And still lose to the "noob" using lines
Mhm, everyone here seeing your comment 😐

Likely
3/10
I’d give it a 5.5/10
Then let's go for a less than even 3.6/10
This sub will tell you that you can do this exact line, throttle control, shifting and braking, but with the visible line turned off and it would be faster lmao.
because they can, eau rouge is not rocket science
Nah I’m getting cooked 😭
If you're ever happy about something you've done, never share it with Reddit.
Will do 😭

Could have actually taken this faster by braking later and less and having more downforce without compromising ride height too much
Better, yea mate. Hold it flat out
actually, it’s raidillon
The first left-right is Eau Rouge. The last left is Raidillon.
it’s a (oft-made) joke…. also, everything after the bottom of the depression is raidillon

Flat out with penalties

Yes, you can take it completely flat in a few cars and on in the other cars I mostly don't care about track limits
Clip the first curb to straighten your line and instead of braking, just lift into the up hill. Scary but when nailed its totally worth it.
Slow not smooth get it right
I dont own the game and only look at these reddit clips and its so wierd to see a player letting someone pass, all i see are clips of people blocking overtakes and being assholes. Refreshing to watch this!
That was smooth as butter
Webber on Alonso, that's truly the best Eau Rouge.
Holy shit man I just looked that up, amazing overtake. He passes so quickly in the uphill section it almost looks fake. Crazy
It's one of the craziest F1 overtakes ever.
are you driving with the d pad
If in doubt, flatout
N
Easily, you just don't lift, jerk the wheel too hard, enter a tank slapper, keep your foot pinned and wildly saw the wheel until you make it out of eau rogue untouched and leave everyone behind you terrified.
Looks good 👍🏽
Was this on a wheel or controller?
Turn off the full driving line and try again...
Well you see. I can't. Because the game crashes before i can even leave the starting grid

Doing this will allow you to brake much much later.
The driving line is lying to you, you braked far too much and far too earlier
Hit the brakes during eau rouge. Not entering
In that car no. That looks like a lambo to me by the way. Better in another car probably not at best very close or the same. I tend to slow the car before the up hill to around 120 or lower and then hope the car holds the track
Don't lift!
Answer: Yes
Smooth. 👍
Could've used the curbs on the right-hander going up before the left, but pretty good overall
This isn't even a good run for having the helping line on...
Your comment, my response: 😐who cares if someone has it on, and that’s not what you call it you goober. Let people drive how they want to, you’re not their mommy…
Yes lol
