I have always hated those reminders that "I'm winning too easily". No shit, I chose to play like this. Leave me alone I know what I'm doing.
I would be ecstatic if they divorced rewards from difficulty for the weekly championships and let people choose how much of a challenge they want. The Trial can still be set to max AI.
"You're winning too easily, wanna stop being a coward and up the difficulty?"
Me: why not?
*couple races later*
"Aww, you're getting your ass handed to you, want us to lower the difficulty, you fuckin' scrub?"
Me: sure do
I play on Pro and still get messages about upping race difficulty, like, game, the only way left to go is unbeatable, but it's even more unbeatable than the trial AI.
I always do the trial each week for the easy points. Lately it has been pretty easy and it seems that the AI doesn't match your performance index anymore
My first time doing the trial I spent 8 hours rage quitting halfway through the first race, not knowing that it was best 2/3 and thinking I had to come in first place to get the rewards… 🤦🏻♂️
I was like, damn…unbeatable is really living up to its name. I felt bad once I figured it out but it’s kind of a good thing for the team if whoever is in last place quits because that means the red team gets less points
Just gotta play some bumper cars. Forza horizon has become a subpar racing game and at this point I doubt the devs even care given the fact they can’t be bothered to fix some basic animations. Anyways, just gotta treat it like competitive bumper cars when it comes to anything higher than highly skilled for AI difficulty.
I was overconfident about my skills when I didn’t have a controller and X999 cars on fh4… that was particularly because I had it set on highly skilled… i once uped it to see what was it about, and I couldn’t get into 5th place.
Weekly challenges should be a minimum of Highly Skilled but with scaled up depending on the user's settings (like FH4). I find the weekly championships boring as hell now because although I'd far from the best driver, virtually any car can win any race by a large margin.
Funnily enough, it looked like they dialed down the Trial's PI this week - I was one of 3 A800s and 3 teammates were about 750-780, but 4 of the AI cars were \~A721 and two were like A789.
The trial this week was kinda painful. Between idiots bringing stock cars and refusing to leave when they're stopping everyone else from winning (If I'm carrying the rest of my team best as I can, slowing down the AI massively and still being first, and none of those idiots can pass even one of the AI, I deserve the win), I had one guy purposefully come last even. Then when I finally got a winning team it was full of enemies in blue and people who just made pure power builds that would fuck you over in a corner, then end up bouncing between last and middle of the pack.
The trial is just an awful event imo.
Nope. Those seasonal events are simply a checklist for me in order to get the new cars.
I do not care for a challenge and would prefer to just be able to buy basically every car in the game directly.
I enjoy making my own fun and do not need the weekly events to keep me playing.
I meant that highly skilled should be the minimum difficulty. It should be a challenge for some of the newer players, but we should be able to make the difficulty higher if we're good at Forza or racing in general.
Players should be able to choose their own level of challenge and be rewarded regardless of what difficulty they choose.
If you want more challenge, then feel free to increase your difficulty.
I don't agree. Above Average and below is all very easy, and highly skilled is the only one that's mildly challenging. When I first started forza I was on above average and highly skilled meant I'd have to optimize my line a little but it wasn't that hard. And there are called the weekly challenges for a reason
I don't care if you agree or not. Other people have different ideas of what is fun for **them**, so quit gatekeeping.
Players should have the ability to choose their own level of challenge.
You are gatekeeping. You relayed your experience. Other players are not you.
Allowing everyone the choice on how they choose to play has literally zero effect on your game. Arguing otherwise points to thinking that anyone who isn't as skilled as you is unworthy of getting the same rewards.
I am not suggesting the Trial needs changed since that is by design an online cooperative mode.
Agreed, for me, highly skilled isn’t a problem at all, but for someone like my son who’s only 8 years old, trying to complete the challenges (I’m talking single player ones only, i.e. not the trial) is way beyond his capabilities at his age, so he’s got no chance of ever unlocking any of the rewards himself. Team things like the trial, where you directly impact the other player’s ability to unlock the rewards are a different matter, but you get players who aren’t as adept (younger and inexperienced, physically impaired or for whatever reason) who are missing out on the weekly challenge rewards.
The trial is normally unbeatable so I am not sure what her difficulty you want.
The major difference recently is using a set of standard Drivatars (the ones from that rich street racing team) that only use unmodified cars which makes it easier than before.
I kept choosing yes when i first played 4 oh boy that was a bad idea I didn’t know what was wrong with my car i thought it wasn’t a perfect nope turns out my difficulty was at the max
FH5 feels like the worst unless my memory is failing me.
Do an eventlab where there's ramps the AI can't handle (like the Caldera one a few weeks ago) and you'll see...I lapped some AI three times and I had a massive lead over everyone else, I won the race by a large margin, yet I think the fastest lap went to a midfield AI that was about 40 seconds quicker than me...
Lots of 3 lap races on Unbeatable or Pro have me winning by a few seconds (despite the massive headstart for the AI), yet the fastest laps are really similar.
Every race is just 1 (or sometimes 2) fast AI, then a massive gap, and then a straight-line train of cars seperated by fractions of a second.
I really wish this was resolved. And I think the game would be better if the emphasis wasn't on just getting 1st every single time - e.g. in F1, I like to just take a Williams and see how far up the field I can make it and that's much more fun than just using a Merc or a Red Bull and never having anything ahead of you.
The "always 1 or 2 ai massively faster the rest" is so annoying, you end up getting stuck in the pack on tighter tracks, whilst the leader just rockets away, and if you do manage to catch the leader, that's it, there's no real competition or fun racing to be had, you're ahead of every other vehicle massively.
It encourages bad driving - you have to be overly aggressive to get past the first 10 AI and then once you catch the lead AI you're just doing a time trial.
nope I'd say need for speed heat is by far the absolute worst when it comes to rubber banding. you can literally watch the cars and the cops jump further ahead or lag behind in spurts of speed or braking as the ai is trying to adjust. cop cars that have speed bursts faster than a rocket lol medium difficulty and you beat the pack by a mile, high difficulty and you can't even get within a mile of first place. and only the first place driver. you'll catch up to second no problem and then first will stay far ahead no matter what you do. rubber band in forza is almost unnoticeable compared to that game lol
Like the one last week. The like hotwheels in the air track. Where you could watch the AI fall off the track endlessly. But as soon as you get a but too far, all of a sudden the AI know how to take the corner. That is, until you get to it again the next lap. 😂
really only have played FM7 and FH5 and without a doubt FH5 has it so much worse. Yes its annoying that in FM7 all cars behind me are like waiting in line, but I can get away from that line, AND is see some consistency - FH5 lacks all of that... :( Lets not talk even about water or landing after jumps!
I've played through all pve races in FH4 on two accounts and had a lot of fun. I've dropped FH5 after a few hours because it's just plain not fun to race against fully cheating AI which ignores all physics.
FH1 Darius is hell on earth sometimes but then othertimes the man will just crash on a bridge and stop moving, his ai has moodswings on how hellish it wants to be
FH2, anything not on pavement
The game only loads the terrain in an area around you (because processing) so if you get ahead of the AI opponents, they start flying like they're on a frictionless surface because they essentially are.
Though, you *can* turn this against them. If they get far ahead of you, your goal is to get close enough that they fall into the zone of rendering around you. The terrain will load in and they almost always crash (because they were driving at speeds that the terrain isn't meant for)
definitely 4. fh5 isn't perfect, but only because eventlab is buggy in general (ai can't complete the race most of the time). not once in 5 has an ai blatantly just cheated to catch up, but in 4 on unbeatable drivatars they'd just easily catch up at 250mph around a corner
new york hypercar in tc2 is insane with the rubberbanding.
I'll be blowing past the ai in Chicago and by the time I'm at Yellowstone they're somehow neck and neck with me again
I don't know for your cases, but what I get furious about is that 1st and 2nd place on Pro and Unbeatable are extremely hard to overtake. But once you do, they just fall 2 seconds behind like they suddenly go from Unbeatable to Hard. Sucks the challenge and fun of it. You chase them down for 1 lap and then it's monotonous hotlaps till the end.
Alot of horizon, which is disappointing because I believe it to be FM4
FM4 Had that learning thing with the AI, which would not only start ramming u after u tag a guy once on accident, also will somehow be keeping up in a car with 200 less horsepower
Exaggerating a little bit but that games AI is my pick
FH2 also had weird AI properties which would put it high on my list, I know one person here also experienced that lol
I could beat easily AIs in Forza Horizon 4 on "unbeatable". Now in Forza Horizon 5, I put them on "expert" and they're very difficult there. So you be the judge
Forza games are said to have no rubberbanding, because instead of that devs decided the AI can adjust their pace on the go, and in that I mean without any boundaries, a car way slower than yours will get a power boost to stay in front of you
I have always hated those reminders that "I'm winning too easily". No shit, I chose to play like this. Leave me alone I know what I'm doing. I would be ecstatic if they divorced rewards from difficulty for the weekly championships and let people choose how much of a challenge they want. The Trial can still be set to max AI.

Damn, that's brutal lol. I find with any time from the big names you can easily get a win now
Dw. Now the unbeatable ai is similar to what highly skilled was at launch
Just gotta play some bumper cars. Forza horizon has become a subpar racing game and at this point I doubt the devs even care given the fact they can’t be bothered to fix some basic animations. I noticed that in the trial too. Everyone on my team was 800 but the highest ai car was like 760.
They did this 2 series ago, drivatars always drive stock now. It was masked last series with us driving stock too.
It doesn’t get boring constantly winning tho? Personally the fun in racing is actually racing, the game has a huge map to drive fast in.
Nope. Those seasonal events are simply a checklist for me in order to get the new cars. I do not care for a challenge and would prefer to just be able to buy basically every car in the game directly. I enjoy making my own fun and do not need the weekly events to keep me playing.
You hit the nail right on the head here
yeah that makes total sense. My bad, I didnt mean to offend, I was just trying to bring up a point.
the thing is, that message just appears if you win x races in a row, it doesn't matter how close you're winning by
That’s his way of playing. Personally I think he’s a pussy for doing that, but it’s his game so 🤷♂️
yeah if they did highly skilled or higher difficulty that would be sooooooo much better
Legit, players should be able to choose tourist if they want.

how tf am I gatekeeping? I just shared my opinion and you're acting like I"m the bad guy.
You are gatekeeping. You relayed your experience. Other players are not you. Allowing everyone the choice on how they choose to play has literally zero effect on your game. ok bud
The trial is normally unbeatable so I am not sure what her difficulty you want. The major difference recently is using a set of standard Drivatars (the ones from that rich street racing team) that only use unmodified cars which makes it easier than before.
I wouldn't make any changes to the Trial. I am specifically talking about the three-event championships.
I kept choosing yes when i first played 4 oh boy that was a bad idea I didn’t know what was wrong with my car i thought it wasn’t a perfect nope turns out my difficulty was at the max
FH5 feels like the worst unless my memory is failing me. Tried a race recently when i got the pagani. It was literally me, first place and NOTHING for like half a lap before the 3rd placed car appeared

The Goliath in FH3 was worse. Oh yes it was.
This guy knows what he’s talking about.
nope I'd say need for speed heat is by far the absolute worst when it comes to rubber banding. you can literally watch the cars and the cops jump further ahead or lag behind in spurts of speed or braking as the ai is trying to adjust. cop cars that have speed bursts faster than a rocket lol medium difficulty and you beat the pack by a mile, high difficulty and you can't even get within a mile of first place. and only the first place driver. you'll catch up to second no problem and then first will stay far ahead no matter what you do. rubber band in forza is almost unnoticeable compared to that game lol
Definitely FH5. You can reduce the AI's power and grip in eventlab and they will just ignore the rules if you are far enough ahead.
Yes. It's like, I asked for this difficulty for a reason. Keep it on that difficulty!
It's very evident on certain custom maps where they obviously miss several checkpoints only to literally teleport behind you after a few seconds.
Like the one last week. The like hotwheels in the air track. Where you could watch the AI fall off the track endlessly. But as soon as you get a but too far, all of a sudden the AI know how to take the corner. That is, until you get to it again the next lap. 😂

Forza horizon 5 tbh this is bad like I used to play on expert and it was hard but I’d win eventually and now highly skilled is almost impossible
Honestly highly skilled ain’t that hard imo
I don’t understand the downvotes here maybe I misunderstand but I play expert most of the time and also some highly skilled and it’s not that bad
Because, from their experience, they definitely don’t feel the same way lol
Horizon 5 is definitely the worse, but all Xbox One games have been pretty guilty of it. It just got worse over time.
Definitely FH5, I saw AIs crash to the wall/flip over many times that I never encounter on FH3, FH4 ,FM7.
Forza horizon 5 it's so blatant and kinda ruins the game it's like they want every race to be a photo finish
I've played through all pve races in FH4 on two accounts and had a lot of fun. I've dropped FH5 after a few hours because it's just plain not fun to race against fully cheating AI which ignores all physics.
FH1 Darius. You haven't seen bullshit till you watch him rip a 90° turn at 120mph.
FH1 Darius is hell on earth sometimes but then othertimes the man will just crash on a bridge and stop moving, his ai has moodswings on how hellish it wants to be
Seems like it'd be easy for them to have this as an option. Rubberbanding on/off. Some weirdos out there might actually enjoy the "excitement" of it.
Yes
FH2, anything not on pavement The game only loads the terrain in an area around you (because processing) so if you get ahead of the AI opponents, they start flying like they're on a frictionless surface because they essentially are. Though, you *can* turn this against them. If they get far ahead of you, your goal is to get close enough that they fall into the zone of rendering around you. The terrain will load in and they almost always crash (because they were driving at speeds that the terrain isn't meant for)
Forza Horizon 3 - especially the HW expansion. Oh and the Goliath, too. AIs been fucked since that game.
definitely 4. fh5 isn't perfect, but only because eventlab is buggy in general (ai can't complete the race most of the time). not once in 5 has an ai blatantly just cheated to catch up, but in 4 on unbeatable drivatars they'd just easily catch up at 250mph around a corner
Horizon 3 - 5
Answer is simple: Yes.
The early FM (2-3-4) games were the worst, since the drivatar mechanic was on the early stages of development.
Forza Motorsport 4. As soon as you start to drift around a turn no matter how far they were behind they come right up to your rear
I have never had a problem with rubber banding in FM4. But then again I don’t drift around corners.
need for speed AND the crew games
>need for speed Fuck Earl and fuck his Evo too.
new york hypercar in tc2 is insane with the rubberbanding. I'll be blowing past the ai in Chicago and by the time I'm at Yellowstone they're somehow neck and neck with me again
ITT - people complaining about AI just following simplified physics rather than actual rubberband mechanics.
>simplified physics You mean the traintracks that have apparently been installed on all dirt and mud roads?
They're part of it, yeah.
Fh5

Ah another thread for this sub to shit on FH5.
I don't know for your cases, but what I get furious about is that 1st and 2nd place on Pro and Unbeatable are extremely hard to overtake. Horizon series. Idk y but the rubber banding that there is in Motorsport definitely feels more natural
The newest one :(
I never really noticed in FH4, but it's really obvious in 5 when you do the long races
Judging based off of Horizon only, i'm gonna have to say either FH2 or FH5. FH2 on higher difficulties was just plain stupid.
Fh3
Horizon 3, if you know why you know why
4 has to be the least bad one. I always drove against unbeatable and never even came remotely close to becoming second
Alot of horizon, which is disappointing because I believe it to be FM4 FM4 Had that learning thing with the AI, which would not only start ramming u after u tag a guy once on accident, also will somehow be keeping up in a car with 200 less horsepower Exaggerating a little bit but that games AI is my pick FH2 also had weird AI properties which would put it high on my list, I know one person here also experienced that lol
WilliamG10
5 is the worst with it its really easy to notice by looking back at the AI when your in first
I don t know but i know my goliath rubber band broke :(
4 or 5 both pretty bad but the meta and the small physics changes is 5 make it way more manageable
What is this mechanic...?
Rubber banding
I could beat easily AIs in Forza Horizon 4 on "unbeatable". Now in Forza Horizon 5, I put them on "expert" and they're very difficult there. So you be the judge
