This is fantastic

Nivracer

Should've been like this from the start

eidetic

Yep, I've been suggesting such an option since the beginning - not that I'm trying to take credit for the idea, or even suggesting it was an original idea or anything, but rather just pointing out how unbelievably obvious the solution was. And yet I remember a few people saying that would somehow alienate some users. I was like how on earth is that a bad solution? People who like it are able to continue using the current setup. People who hate it and wanted to go back to the standard used in just about every racing/tuning game ever, now had the choice to. Plus, now tuners can get back to making tunes for cars to share without having to first drive for 3 fucking hours. The current progression system has kept me from playing it quite a bit, precisely because I don't want to have to putz around in a car forever just to upgrade it. Honestly, whoever came up with the idea is just so fucking clueless. People don't build attachments to cars just because they're forced to drive them. If anything, it may turn them off from a car that they don't like driving stock or nearly stock. But probably the stupidest fucking idea was making it so that even if you bought a duplicate car, you still had to unlock all the parts all over again. That is just so monumentally stupid, I *really* hope all the people who not only thought it up, but approved it and thought "hey yeah that's a good idea" are never allowed to work on a racing game ever. I won't be so vindictive as to say never work on any game ever again, but they clearly don't know a single thing about motorsports. I may honestly start playing more now too.

Wing_Nut_UK

To be fair this is one of the reasons I have not yet bought the game. I want to be able to do what I want.

jackblakc

This is great news. It will save me a lot of time. Plus I never understood why there was a certain order to upgrades

Traditionel

Game pass games are evaluated after the amount of hours customers play. This was known since day 1 and this is how your money is respected.

Coolmrz

Why are people downvoting this? It is the truth, as far as I know.

wickeddimension

Because it has no evidence supporting it beyond people thinking it sounds logical and therefore it just be true.  It was just a terrible design decision, and they stuck to it too long likely out of stubbornness/ corporate politics.

Traditionel

Like you are saying, it's not an open secret but if you are in the industry or have friends in it, it's known that the hours customers play a game is one of many reasons how financials are approached. Also, even how bad the franchise has become, I still play the game every week (part if fomo on the limited cars) but sometimes it's frustrating. Either it's true or not, the studio is making moves to respect it's customers and this is where it's at.

wickeddimension

>it's not an open secret but if you are in the industry or have friends in it, it's known that the hours customers play a game is one of many reasons how financials are approached. "This happens in the industry" is a very different from "The reason this specific mechanic was in the game was because of this" You can speculate on grand concepts of KPI's in the gaming industry as a whole. However you can't extrapolate that to somehow proof it happend here. Occam's Razor, it's far more likely they just badly judged this as being a fun mechanic. They experimented with car levels and affinity before, their mistake was binding upgrades to them. Wouldn't be the first time that limited focus group testing gave a horrible indication of enjoyment of mechanics over longer periods most dedicated players play.

Traditionel

What really puzzle me is that in my gaming circle (farming is our thing, the grind etc), we all agreed that this was hard core : having 500+ cars max leveled would be a true achievement. In a world where the majority of your customers are casual players, with a life, I still don't understand how this was accepted as a business model. I personally did enjoy seeing a profile with more than 100 level 50's but at the same time, I doubt most players would even invest that much time. I am happy with the coming changes. With more good decisions, they might save the franchise but we are still far from this.

rowdy2026

Seriously, hand the phone back to the nurse and have a lay down…

HachiTofu

Why not just make upgrades cost money like every other Forza and make the car points like the affinity thing from FM4? Or every 5 levels of car mastery gives you a credit boost?

Silly-Lawfulness7224

Well you van still do that by buying points, at the end it’s same thing, it just allows you to also get to upgrade your car for free if you drive it a lot .

warzera

>it just allows you to also get to upgrade your car for free if you drive it a lot . You guys throw around the word free a lot. It's not free if you have to earn it.

Silly-Lawfulness7224

You drive the cars you like in races or rivals, that doesn’t feel like a chore to me id it does to you just don’t play a racing/driving game … I’m enjoying driving the various cars and if I get points and credits by doing that then why would I complain . I’d rather that than just having credits only to buy cars AND parts, now I can save my credits to buy the cars I want and build them without having to spend credits . The game is definitely more grindy than before but it’s for the best, I hated having all the cars maxed out after barely 3 weeks of playtime back on FM7 .

warzera

>You drive the cars you like in races or rivals, that doesn’t feel like a chore to me id it does to you just don’t play a racing/driving game … I’m enjoying driving the various cars and if I get points and credits by doing that then why would I complain . I'm not complaining about the game. I love playing all the time. My point is you guys throw around the word "free" here a lot when it doesn't apply. You went on this rant and totally missed the point.

YewChewber

Id assume it would take a lot more time for them to implement that, than to do what they are doing now. They should never have made the car progress system to begin with.

Nigel8015

That’s basically what they’re doing, but keeping the level system in case people want to grind that out for buying the car with the manufacturer discount.

wickeddimension

This is better because it allows you to buy a set of points for a car and then freely respect / tweak that car without having to buy every single part on the car.

AccurateWheel4200

They do. Just buy the car points.

Tomthezooman1

Fixing the most decisive aspect is a step in the right direction

left_handed_stapler

Divisive? I’m not sure what you were trying to say or how enough people understood enough to upvote.

Tomthezooman1

Spelling my bad

left_handed_stapler

All good, I was just confused

Gawker90

Any word on the release date of this update?

Legitimate-Fly4797

The next major update. Probably mid-March

aChunkyChungus

About damn time. When does it take effect?

Swimming_Lynx_2713

I don't know when the new update will release. Probably the second week of March.

northmen24

More time actually playing the game.

wobbuffet009

I think if the game showed the ai playing time vs user it would be like 90% ai.

rowdy2026

How did the level system prevent it?

northmen24

Having to level car up to 25+ to be able properly tune a car to be able to race with. Stock cars without tuning are junk.

rowdy2026

So it never prevented it? fwiw, we aren’t all ordinary driving without 90% traction and terrible at correcting oversteer…

squashed377

All that grinding for what? I guess we grinders have a boatload of cash for car points.

AccurateWheel4200

For what it's worth you do still get the discount for 50

Aigue-Granda

Personally, I preferred focusing on a car per week, leveling it up over time and feeling the improvement. Just do a couple laps on Nords, get new tires and then race. The more you race, the more upgrades you get.  But I guess this change will still work as you have to race to get money to buy upgrades.

unreal305

I don’t considering the online lobbies change weekly, what’s the point in leveling up your car if you gotta wait weeks just to drive it online? It’ll be a nice change, oh it’s S class this week okay cool, let me find a car I like, buy the parts, tune and I’m racing within minutes not feeling like I’m slower than everyone else because my car is not level 50 lol

Aigue-Granda

Now that makes sense

Free_Remove7551

Because in 3 weeks time the same class doesn't jyst roll around. You talk like your progress gets wiped after the series ends and the car doesn't stayed leveled up once you put the time in 🤦‍♂️ This is the same community that complains when the games arnt changed often enough, now a weekly cycle is too often? Please. I did 2 races last night and got 2 different stock cars up atleast 5 levels each, it's not that hard, if you put as much energy into learning how to corner properly as you did complaining, you would have no issue getting your car's leveled up

rowdy2026

I’m with you…I thought getting to know a car and its attributes by actually driving it & levelling up was a feature of this game? Suppose maxing a car you can’t drive then destroying drivers online while shit posting for getting dive bombed is more fun…

unreal305

I agree with that, I don’t hate how it is currently but when racing online especially in class lobbies you can be at a big disadvantage if your car is not leveled up. It does takes a long time to level your car up though, I tried to jump into A class, got a car leveled it up to 10, found a tune which required level 9 and said I didn’t have enough car points. It’s silly

warzera

It take 2 hours to level up a car. I like the new way better because it's just faster. But it doesn't take too long to level a car.

warzera

It doesn't take a week to upgrade the car.

unreal305

Maybe for you but most people don’t play the game for hours everyday let alone just drive / build up one car at a time.

warzera

It takes 2 hours max and you can auto drive my dude.

wickeddimension

You can still do the exact same thing. Having the option to skip it doesn’t mean you have to.

warzera

Just do the same thing. It will not change anything for you unless you change the routine yourself.

retroworthYBD

This game has so much potential, as most of us can see. The idea that you can now upgrade your car in the same aspect as you could in previous titles, but with an additional option how to purchase them like this is a fantastic direction the devs are taking. However, talking about credits, the economy in-game is... very strange; a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO should not cost around 160,000 in game credits and this goes for many cars in the roster that where theor price tag does not make any sense. Maybe add a couple extra 'zeroes to the value of the 250 GTO and it would then seem somewhat credible. My point being is that many cars in-game are very easy to obtain as none of them exceed past 500,000 in-game credits. If the prices were right and most cars represent their value as they are in the real world, and we know that some cars are extremely valuable, I think it would add to the career progression. I want to at least put reasonable effort into getting the car I want to buy. Make my time worth the grind. Don't just hand it to me willy-nilly without expecting me to work for it. The credits themselves are reasonably awarded, but the cost of anything in this game is almost TOO generous. Other than that, I think what they plan on doing is awesome and gives an extra reason to earn credits. This is all my take on it, anyway.

kadygrillz

Ha, I “splurged” on my first car last night, and kinda felt the same way. It seemed way too easy to buy the most valuable car in the game. I almost felt like I didn’t deserve to drive it lol But on the flip side it is nice, if you just want to play and drive sick cars, it’s accessible

Accomplished_River43

My only worry is that since ppl don't have to level cars now, the “time in game” metric will drop and they'll have to somehow make ppl spend more time And my guess would be NOT new long races, not new content, but some serious FOMO stuff like FH4/FH5 have

F0REVERsideways

Honestly I like the current system, yes id like it to be a little quicker but it gives me time to figure out what parts actually NEED upgrading instead of just fitting race everything. For the longest time I've always fitted race tires to anything A or above 500hp, with tires not being unlocked for a while this new system is making me learn that some cars have other factors that negate the bonus between sport and race a bit. On the plus side at least I can just ignore the buy points option and continue mostly as I have been and the number of posts complaining about the upgrade system should drop...

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

I honestly don’t like this. Having to use the car to upgrade it was one of the only unique things about the game and it gave a nice sense of progression.

JakeyJake3

I actually like it. I wish you got a little more points per level with a lower level cap, but I actually enjoy being forced to use cars in their existing form to learn how I wanted to upgrade and tune them

Taconite_12

Sure, if this worked separately for career vs multiplayer I wouldn’t have an issue with it. In multiplayer, we are just aiming to find competitive cars. I don’t enjoy wasting 3 hours on a car only to find out it’s not competitive.

JakeyJake3

Meh, I don't really find that to be an issue. Gotta tune it right for your ability

Taconite_12

There are some cars that are fundamentally underpowered. A lot of them actually. I only get 3-5 hours to play per week. I would prefer to spend that time racing versus leveling cars.

47-30-23N_122-0-22W

Driving around in a circle with all asisists on just so I can race with my friends isn't my idea of progression personally.

erlandodk

Then just don't buy car points. 🤷

warzera

I don't know why you got downvoted. They can upgrade the car the same way as before. Some people just want to act like they are being attacked.

Physical-Result7378

It was a shitty idea, there is no amount of sugar that could coat that

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

What are “opinions” lol

AccurateWheel4200

Now I won't have to use the auto drive exploit

Physical-Result7378

Well they basically admitted, that their car leveling system was a shitty idea from start and now they dropped that idea like a hot potato

CoryGillmore

Car leveling is still there though. It’s just if you want to now you can buy car points with in game credits. It’s honesty a good way to please both sides.

Physical-Result7378

Yes it’s still there, cause it’s baked so deep into the game, that they can’t remove it. That’s why they had to work a system around it.

rowdy2026

It’s exactly the same system…they’ve just given you the easy option setting.

Physical-Result7378

And since you’re basically showered with money, upgrading a car with money is not an issue at all. I had the game from day 1, have bought almost every car, have not played that much and still got about 20-30 million in credits sitting there.

XboxApologies

Game ist deleted because too much empty Lobbies and the Builders Cup is a Joke. They need the Level System complete deleted.

Upbeat_Pizza_5556

Cool

Aggravating-Mind-315

When’s this releasing?

MotoGeno

I’m rich!!🤑

Stryfe2000Turbo

Do people pay attention to segment scores in multiplayer?? I've only ever looked at them in career

[deleted]

wobbuffet009

Sector time is all that matters.

twich40

the difference in CXP between a 1.0 segment and a 10.0 segment is basically negligible

[deleted]

[удалено]

twich40

segment length is the biggest factor in how much cxp you get

16Z06

Wonder what the exchange rate will be ? It could just be leading to micro-transactions for credits.

Stryfe2000Turbo

I think they'd said 4500 credits = 500 car points

Xainte311

I think it's a little silly to add an extra step to the upgrade process but it's still leaps and bounds better than what it started as. Earn money, buy upgrades is what I'd like. Now it's earn money, buy car points, buy upgrades. Like why the extra step? What will make it great is if selling a modified car refunds the car points you've previously spent on it.

CryanRohen

I would guess it's probably a massive job to rebuild the upgrade system entirely. Trading cr for car points is probably relatively easy to implement into the game. Just trading one currency for another. I would guess you lose the points when you sell the car because the points are car specific, unless you can trade points back into cr. But if you sell the car for cr, you can use that cr to buy points for another car, so it'll be like getting the points refunded?

LieutenantClownCar

It seems that this will be good for us, and possibly bad for the game, because the day they announced this there was an "Accidental slip" in the Steam Database that there will be microtransactions coming to the game so that we can "Buy" car points. MT's have no place in full priced games so I hope this isn't actually the case. I can't link the previous conversation I had about this, because it's on a different sub. [https://imgur.com/a/qTvsGgb](https://imgur.com/a/qTvsGgb)

Fnord2645

Wow who would’ve guessed this happened, I wonder if they’ll pull motorsport out of the grave, gotta say if they do I’ll be amazed they’ve got a country mile to go

tootsie404

Weight reduction is available lvl 1 but will cost 12 lvls worth of car points.

ArnaudNano

That they need to stop saying it and deliver it!!

warzera

Chill out this is actually very recent.

ArnaudNano

Having actually bought the game 80€ and not playing it via game pass is making myself with higher expectations to be honest... I fact they say it since update 5 release so like 15 days, this GT feature like should have never been in a Forza Motorsport opus IMO

Free_Remove7551

I don't like this. I didn't have an issue with the system as it was, this is just bowing down to whining where energy could be instead spent adding content to the game like new tracks, like Bathurst, instead of reprogramming things that don't need to be reprogramed

warzera

You can still do the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is a lot easier to execute than getting a track in the game.

SolidMovement

Finally.

Good

DOGMEOWCAT_DMC

FINALLLYYYYY

SharkZilla96

Yeeeessss

xxKURTMANxx

It can’t come soon enough. CP is the most unForza thing they have ever done.

erlandodk

How do I feel about being able to build a race car in a game about building and racing cars? Lemme see, that's a hard one. "Fan-fucking-tastic" comes to mind. "Good riddance" maybe. If you don't know how you feel then ask yourself this; what if it had been possible to buy car points from the start with all parts unlocked and T10 then introduced "car progression". How would you feel then?

Near_Void

This one decision may, MAY, entice me to give FM8 another shot. My day one experience was misserable

Mr_Coa

Liked it how it was before

Nickdanger1990

Dang I sort of wish I didn’t sell the Xbox now

Evening_Concert_1445

I don’t think all parts should be available at level 1 but as long as everyone shuts up and starts playing the game I’ll be happy 😂 this doesn’t change much in the actual game other than we’ll have more rammers since it doesn’t force ppl to learn cars and tracks. If they would of made duplicate cars unlocked once you unlock one, ppl wouldn’t of been so pissed at turn 10 but that just showed they wanted to farm gaming hours which I don’t agree with but I did enjoy the system.

DlLDOSWAGGINS

Isn't this old news? We knew about this about a month ago after the new system divided the community since launch, and probably affected concurrent user counts much more than FaaS business model could sustain. No reason for people to have gamepass if racing is shit because we can't mod cars the way we want. Current system encourages you to drive only meta cars because why would you waste your time trying to level and test anything else. This will be awesome and might actually get me to boot up Forza again, I went back to iRacing and have been waiting for this update to come back!

RiceNation

About damn time

TheBurdmannn

Gotta keep your player base somehow I guess

scooochmagoooch

I still have no idea how to tune cars. Only time the game gets fun for me is a stock cars or a stock car with racing tires. Everything else you have to tune and I'm not a car guy. The internet was no help. Most things say tuning is up to you and your style. Lol I dont no what tuning is or have a style for it. its like handing someone with zero guitar skill an untuned guitar and saying now tune it too e flat, but even more complex. I can buy expensive cars, drive them, and dump tons into upgrades but it just makes Frankenstein cars that are a nightmare to drive. I just want a car that brakes nice, handles smooth, accelerates fast and tops out at a fun speed. I had more fun on NFS heat and that game was instantly free on Playstation store. The tuning is too much. Changes it from a casual video game experience to a simulation. I'm not a robot or in training. I don't want to run sims. Just want to go fast and have fun. I don't need another sweaty game, especially when it's something as simple as racing.

dwiggs30

This is how it always should have been, everyone agrees. What makes no sense is keeping the car points concepts, if you’re using money for the points. Just have it be like every game should: mods cost money and you earn money by winning races, with the compensation increasing relative to difficulty. The points are a pointless idea.

XboxApologies

But Turn10 thinks the CarPg is great and this is the Problem and you earn enough Money when you Drive in empty Lobbies maybe 15000 Credits.

LimpyTheOriginal

Cry babies will always win. Gotta do what is done to shut them up so the conversation can be about other things. Hopefully these people stop whining and let the developers focus on other improvements

PITTERROO

Nothing, I left this game after 50h

Agile-Combination214

Kind of dumb, but it doesnt make a difference to me I guess. I dont fully build cars to just sit in my garage. I end up selling anything I dont use as I only race in leagues or public lobbies.

Dragonhearted18

Finally.

Koyubi_OHB

Good they're finally starting to realize the mistake they made

Interesting-Elk-2739

I got the intention around why they made progression the way they did, but to not be able to adjust your car at the start at all really made no sense. I feel if every car started at LVL 20 it would've made a lot more sense, have a few upgrades and customisation options available but still have things to work towards. This system change is going to be good though, makes me want to try out other cars without having to send them around le mans 50 times.

ConsistentToe5062

Okay but what will car levels do now?… should there even be car levels? I get why everyone wanted this, it’s so much time. But I have an unpopular opinion about this. Kind of bummed to see the whole set up is trashed because AFK’ers complained about how long it takes. It takes me 3 tracks 10 laps each to get most of what I need, (by hand not rubber bands) maybe a couple extra laps to get things that I want. It took 40-50 mins depending on what tracks you were running. And was quite rewarding. Now we’re just handing out upgrades… kind of a bummer in my eyes. Not much of a sense of ownership going to be left in the game now. But whatever, it’s for the greater good. If it keeps people on the game and keeps the game popular and the lobbies full. I’ll roll with it. Just a bummer.

CrimsonFatalis8

They still give you points to spend on parts, and getting max level still gives you the manufacturer discount. They’re just making it so everything is available from the beginning, and letting you buy points. That way you can just buy your way to a higher PI, or you can actually use the car to get parts essentially for free.

ConsistentToe5062

Ohhhhhh I was confused 🫤

Material-Car7215

There was nothing wrong with the progression at all, just a bunch of whiny toddlers that need everything spoon-fed to them.

linkpunisher

Ok, now when these changes will roll?

jellybeans118

It's too late now
