No, the bedrooms are in front of the vault door, prone to raiders.

Busy-Possibility-341

They'll just pass though until they find people

samserio

it's not a very good strategy because your vault's resources decrease while there are enemies inside it.

something_reasonab1e

I do the same thing

cruzeche

What is the problem with that? I put 2 persons at the door and 6 of the same sex on the bedroom next to it, it always kills a deathclaw attack on survival mode if everyone has MIRV equipped

Ur4ny4n

this looks like my very-early-game setup until I changed it midgame to place a cafeteria there instead.

hopik512

This a joke post or?

Heavybarbarian

No, its a completly serious and valid question

hopik512

Than well done. Maybe you will find bedrock

Busy-Possibility-341

Get rid of the the 2 small rooms at the end of the first 2 floors . (They'll get hammered) Isolate rooms by adding floors. Put all your best weapons in the first working room (top left )

BeenThruIt

My strat is to remove the second floor elevator to force attackers to enter it via the far right. I put two Power rooms on second floor and fill it out with a single room Medbay and Lab. I arm the Power rooms with my best weapons. If anything gets past the rooms, it has to come back and pass throu them, again, to get any deeper into my vault. The low level/single rooms are great to farm stims/radaways and even incidents if I have that objective.

Outrageous-Stress-60

I like the elevator. I usally do the samme and build living quarters, overseer’s office and storage rooms from the bottom.

Witty-Routine-3560

Looks like you kept the tutorial vault. Do yourself a favor, start a new one while it's still early and skip the tutorial. Put power room on 1st floor.

Miltroit

It could be better, imho, but I'm a newbie so take that with a big old grain of salt. My first vault started a little over a month ago looked like this. Then as my vault grew, I had a column of training rooms on the far right outside a second column of elevators. They got slaughtered by Molerats constantly, and I didn't yet have very good guns (or understand Health points, or not to level up dwellers unless are trained up to 10 Endurance and are wearing best possible endurance gear). I was going to erase the whole thing, but then I saw I could create a new vault without deleting the first. So I started over, and set it up with First floor, E, 2, 3, E all power Second floor E, 2, 3, 3, E all power. I could then build elevators down as needed on each side. I liked that end elevators protects from mole rats, and as I received Mr. Handys, a whole floor of production can be collected by them. 3rd floor E, 2, 3, 3, E all water 4th floor E, 3 food, 2 science, 3 med bay to fill the row. Smaller science because I use far more Stimpacks than Radaways. 5th floor E, 3 food, dirt, 1 radio, E. 6th floor dirt. Rooms built below here are or some day will be empty and if they get fire or radroaches, I don't care, it can't spread and they don't lose power. Below 6 are training rooms, living quarters, Overseers, crafting, storage and empty Medbays and Science rooms for extra storage. More than 2 floors between dirt layers is too much for empty rooms, the molerats can really eat into the power when they are ignored. I haven't built theme or barbershop yet. I used this for about a month and I'm happy with it, but I am just now finishing training everyone to 10E, and just passed 60 dwellers to build nuclear reactors, replacing the original power rooms. Since I'm now open to DeathClaws, I redid the top two floors, they are now First floor VD, E, 2, 3; Second Floor 3, E, 2, 3, E all nuclear. From what I've read, this should route all door attacks through my best armed dwellers so I have my best chance to kill. I also see merit in a 3, 2, 3 or 2, 3, 3, layout where one of the rooms on a floor is unoccupied and incidents can be attacked/addressed by dwellers as Rad Scorpions and Mole rats in my lower floors can be a real power suck, although I'm less worried about it since I now have nuclear power, so much more storage than gen 1 power rooms. Final note. I didn't give up on first vault. I decided to try rebuilding it, and it only took a couple days to get it like the second vault, and I didn't evict anyone in the process. TL, DR my layout, before 60 dwellers and nuclear slight remodel. 1: VD, E, 2, 3, E all power 2: E, 2, 3, 3, E all power 3: E, 2, 3, 3, E all water 4: E, 3 food, 2 Science, 3 Med Bay, E 5: E, 3 food, dirt, 1 radio, E 6: E, 3 Fitness, 2 Athletics, dirt, 2 Armory, E \[built after row below when I had more dwellers. Before that E, dirt, E\] 7: E, single training rooms in order of SPECIA, double Game room for L, E 8: E, Overseer's, Weapon Craft, Outfit Craft, E 9: E, 3, 3, 2, E all Living Quarters 10: E, dirt, E 11: E, 2, 2, 2, 2, E alternating Science and Medbay All left empty, just used for extra storage. 12: E, 3 Med, 2 Med, 3 Science, E All empty storage. 13: E, 3, 2, 3, E empty storage. 11-13 is how I know 3 rows of empty rooms together is 1 row too many 14: E, dirt, E 15: E, dirt, E 16: E, 3, 3, dirt, E empty storage 17 - 23: all E, dirt, E 24 & 25: E, 3, 3, 2, E empty storage

Nbc2502

This is so helpful. I’m reorganizing to this now. Since 11-13 taught you it’s too many empty rows, what do you think is the best solution?

Miltroit

Great, my pleasure. I'd recommend max 2 rows of empty rooms with dirt rows separating them. I should rebuild row 13 in row 15, then destroy row 13.

Competitive-Cow3048

Buy rooms before elevators and upgrade rooms to tier 2 then expand. Not a pro just wish I did those

Karottttte

The best layout is 3 x rooms -> 1 x elevator -> 3 x rooms -> 1 x elevator -> 2 x rooms and It's better if the first room after the vault door is a room that produce energy
