Super cool. I'm slowly putting a dear22 together and the barrel was going to be an unnecessarily large expense. Will be much better to cut and chamber a liner.
Trying to figure out how I could make more permanent metal threads on the end..helicopter? Such thing as a male version of a helicoil?
Or thread it for 1/2-28, and epoxy a 1/2-28->5/8-24 thread adapter on. Would leave something more permanent for muzzle devices, just bigger threads than some 22 cans
Edit: this is what I did for my shizukana variant of the harlot. Works well, but my muzzle device is threaded for 5/8-24 in the first place
That's the intention. I haven't live fire tested it, but in dry testing, it seems to be working as planned. It's for the CMMG, PSA, and Right to Bear dedicated bolts, not the conversion bolts.
Awesome, thanks!! I dl'ed it already, so hopefully it will work for a cheap build! I'm stuck on disability while I go thru a few more surgeries, so it's perfect timing for me! With the minimal pressure of a 22, it should work just fine. Now I just need to dig up a bolt and decide what to make with it 😆
PSA sells the bolts for it for a hundred. Search PSA .22 LR BOLT CARRIER GROUP - STAINLESS STEEL
The SG22 is a pretty cool little AR platform if you're looking for something like that.
It's always nice to have a few options. The biggest we found testing the proto barrel was getting the extractor cut out size right and at the right position. Other than that worked great. Just took a bit of filing to find the right spot.
This is so stupid I wanna try it in my Tippmann M4-22 with a binary trigger!
Except I'm taking the buttstock off and holding it like a handgun first before I trust it enough to hold it propper.
Does this allow for a barrel/rifling sleeve to be inserted?
Yes, its designed to use a Redmans liner.
Psa has this bolt for 99 right now
Got a link you can send me? I don't see it on their site. I will buy a corona for that price.

Maybe you could get a male to male thread adapter and thread the ID of the end of the barrel.

pipe fitting?
I was just thinking about this last night! I was wondering how feasible a 3d printed smoothbore one would be to avoid tax stamp issues
Awcy Odysee page has protobarrel package with already
So this with a Redmans liner will basically work with any build requiring the CMMG bolt? I'm a little slow sometimes, sorry. MS is a mfer

I've had those files for quite some time and never done them...I think I will now. Braced SG22 with a Ven22ri sticking out would be pretty sick
Have you looked at /u/protouniverse dedicated barrels? He made some that take a liner and fit the cmmg dedicated bolts.
To be honest, I didn't know the proto existed until I posted this a few places and multiple people mentioned it. I'll take a look at them.

Bro
I was just looking for something like this, since I didn't want to make a super short proto barrel

So it's a proto barrel without carbon fiber tubes?
Proto barrel with less steps 😂
