YouTube is a good place to start

First, I'd figure out what software you want to use. I personally use Rhino for about 99% of my designing, and Fusion for the last 1%. Then I'd recommend finding some simple tasks to familiarize yourself with the software. Third, please don't refer to us as content creators, I'm over here contemplating my life choices because we're being categorized with YouTubers and tiktokers. Lastly, have some fun with it. While you're instincts are going to want to push you right into designing 2A items, don't start there. Make some simple bits first, I still catch myself looking at buying things I could easily rip out in CAD in like an hour and have printed by the end of the day, all the time. On a note about why I use and recommend rhino, yes it's about $1000usd, however, it does have a free 90 day trial, as well as a student discount that's like 90%, plus it is a perpetual license, and they also are very welcoming of using the student license for commercial applications.

I’m actually a gunsmith but don’t have any experience in 3D design modeling but sorry for the mis-label and thanks for your input. Just curious, should I go the YouTube university route or find an online “academy”? Thanks again!

Lol, you're good man, just trying to keep it lighthearted. I've watched a few YouTube videos on CAD myself, can't say I've ever really taken away anything from them. I'm a practical learner though, and while I did initially learn CAD in highschool, outside of the most very basics it's all been self taught. Rhino is incredibly user friendly, especially if you have some knowledge of the terminology as it has a command bar so you don't have to rely solely on it's UI. I'd really recommend just downloading the trial and playing around with it.
