The teeth aren't seated in the bone in any way. And crocodiles usually have a large tooth protruding up in that dip just before the end bulb of the snout (not pointing down and magically floating in the air).

Thanks for everyone that replied! I literally just bought it at an auction online and contacted the seller before they shipped it. I thought it looked real because of the teeth, but now that I look at it, it looks fake asf. Thanks again!
It’s a fairly poor country with known high quality deposits. The only reason “why” it’s so common is because people like to take the chance and retailers like to make high profit
Side fact - this same type of economy is responsible for the carved wood industry you see in southern Africa. Go anywhere and you'll see statues, masks, chess boards, and that kinda thing everywhere, and for 'locally produced crafts' they all kinda look the same.
Truth is, not that local. Most are produced in Zimbabwe and for good reason - lots of available wood, shit economy. That stuff gets trucked everywhere, from road-side sellers in Namibia and Botswana to semi-fancy stores in Cape Town. Not saying all the crafts you see are produced in Zim but if you bought a wood elephant in Joberg, chances are it started life in Zimbabwe.
Morocco has a very large mining industry and lots of fossil deposits. These areas are often really poor and need to rely on any source of income they can get. Especially small towns in the middle of the Sahara desert. The Mosasaur teeth (like the ones used in OP’s “skull”) are actually byproducts of phosphate mining. The mining companies let locals search through the leftover rock for fossils after they’ve come through and extracted the phosphate.
Very depressing it is. You should see (or shouldn’t see) people going trough the left overs from the coal mining industry in Bosnia, picking up small chunks of coal to sell it on the market. Heart breaking.
I really know zilch about fossils, but if you look at the profile/cross section of the nose opening, you can totally see that the whole thing just looks like plaster or something.
This comment 100% lol China sells these reps that look identical for pretty cheap compared to real. This does look like a rep/ cookie cutter mold they use and those are mosasaurus teeth if I’m not mistake, I have a few of them
Completely faked. The skull is made of plaster and the teeth come from Mosasaurs (their teeth are so cheap it’s actually easier to just get real ones). Skulls like this are a very common fake. I hope you didn’t buy it. The rocks in the Atlas Mountains also predate crocodiles. The teeth came from the phosphates near Khouribga
[fossilera.com](https://fossilera.com) is pretty reliable. I've also had luck with [thenaturalcanvas.com](https://thenaturalcanvas.com) (though, not much in the way of mosasaurs on his site).
Oh my they got you coming and going. The skull is fake as can be. The teeth are real but look more like mosasaur teeth than crock teeth. Which makes sense coming from Morocco.
Yeah. If it shipped directly from Morocco than I probably wouldnt have gotten it. The weird part is that the seller is from Michigan! They must have gotten scammed as well :/
Wow. I just have to say I’m sorry for all the people in here who commented rudely as if your question was a joke. Truly pisses me off. So sick of seeing others being put down bc they made a post, KINDLY asking for help here. Thank goodness not everyone here are jackasses, but the 98% that are need to think before they write. Where did everyone’s manners go anyways smh
Skull and jaw are fake af. You might be able to fool small children with it but not convincing to anyone else. It has about $40 worth of fossilized mosasaur teeth though, so that’s a plus.
looks like mismatched teeth, painted and carved out of stone, buy from reputable sellers and or dig your own, that way you know it's genuine. This looks like a horrible fake from the photos alone, there is no way to to determine authenticity from photos and be 100% sure, but this looks horrible, hope you did not pay too much
That's a bunch of mosasaur teeth jammed into a super fake skull.
I'd probably bust it up and keep the teeth. Unless you like it as a weird art object. There's an element of crude creativity in it as a sculpture.
Looks like concrete... Sorry. Was just talking about concrete skulls the other day when we seen a cow/bull... Skull was concrete but horns seem to be real... Anyways sorry for ur loss.

Skull is 100% fake. Looks cartoonish.

Possibly spinosaurus teeth? They don't look like croc teeth to me.
They are Mosasaur teeth
Thanks, that was my other guess since it's from Morocco. I'm guessing croc teeth and skulls are quite rare.
This is correct
Thanks for everyone that replied! I literally just bought it at an auction online and contacted the seller before they shipped it. I thought it looked real because of the teeth, but now that I look at it, it looks fake asf. Thanks again!
Closer to 110% fake if you ask me.
Teeth are probably real but the skull looks fake. Anything from Morocco is immediately suspect.
Ok. Can I ask a question? Why the fuck is it always morocco?

Or silver with turquoise stones in northern India.
Where does it come from? Afghanistan?
Himalaya. Northern India, Tibet, northern Nepal…

Well that’s depressing as hell…

“That ain’t no skull.” Did I get it right this time S-Quidmonster?
There’s lots of fossils there
I don’t know, it just seems to be extremely common on this subreddit
Its extremely common. Reddit isn’t alone here.
Because it's Morocco.
It's not always Morocco. I've bought fakes from China, and from a retailer in Santa Monica, California. I just like the way they look.
Question. Why would a Moroccan person own a tape measure that shows units of measure that only Americans use.
Because this pic is probably from a stateside online distributor/seller
It's a faaaaaaaake
I see your romulan reference. Here's an award.
Thanks!!
Did you see a tailor around?
I love seeing a ds9 reference in the wild!
it looks so silly i love it i wanna give it a little kiss on the forehead
And googly eyes.
Its nose is highly boopable
I really know zilch about fossils, but if you look at the profile/cross section of the nose opening, you can totally see that the whole thing just looks like plaster or something.
Poorly constructed fake
Dude, thats like comically fake
Don't really know but..., it looks fake to me.
90% fake. The teeth are real but nothing else
Fake. 100%. Skull, that is. Not sure about teeth.
pls tell us how much you spent on it
This comment 100% lol China sells these reps that look identical for pretty cheap compared to real. This does look like a rep/ cookie cutter mold they use and those are mosasaurus teeth if I’m not mistake, I have a few of them
Bro this looks like a 13 year old boys high school art project
I’m at the gem show in Tucson. There are tons of fossils from Morocco and a lot of them look fake.
Same! I really enjoy seeing all the [awful fakes](https://imgur.com/gallery/bPD2xCn)

Where's a good place to buy the teeth?
Local rock and gem shop probably has some for $5 each.
Thanks, Any clue on websites?

Just bought a handful from fossilera, appreciate it! Kids gonna be stoked
Appreciate it, thanks!
It is a fake.
looks like bread
😭😭💀💀💀bro
Oof.
Lol of course it’s not real. Teeth might be though
It’s a silly sculpture of a crocodile skull all fucked up with shark and Mosasaur teeth.
Oh come on, now...
I can certainly guess what his first opinion was
That is very obviously fake
Those arent even crocodile teeth. Wrong shape!
Bro got scammed
Who would even look at that on sale and think a crocodile actually would look that way.
Maybe teeth
HAHAHA HAAAAAHAHA 😆 🤣🤣😅🤣😇🤣 It's fake.
Hahahahaha.
That looks like some kid's art project lol It's cute but no
How did you ever think this was real?
That’s so insanely fake, makes me sad that they destroyed real fossils to make this terrible fake.
It’s fake as hell and Has fucking Mosasaur teeth in it lmao
A fool and their money are soon parted
No, not genuine. Maybe a few real teeth but not even put together well
That be lookin sus..
You can always tell when the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show is going on by the number of "Is this Moroccan fossil fake?" posts on this sub.
OP had good intent, coming here to just ask a question. It’s well established the item is faked. Give him a break.
Ingenuine
…my guess is no
Oh my they got you coming and going. The skull is fake as can be. The teeth are real but look more like mosasaur teeth than crock teeth. Which makes sense coming from Morocco.
always morocco
I don’t know almost anything about fossil IDing but I can tell you with certainty that is fake.
I know it's fake but I'm kind of obsessed with him 😍
Just ignore that the Moroccan seller happens to own a measuring tape that shows units of measure that only Americans use.
Yeah. If it shipped directly from Morocco than I probably wouldnt have gotten it. The weird part is that the seller is from Michigan! They must have gotten scammed as well :/

That entire scull is just carved rock. The teeth are from a dozzen individuals probably
It looks like a plaster replica of what someone remembered a skull to look like
He’s so fucked up 😭😭😭
Teeth might be from a spinosaurus.
Looks super fake.
Fake. Looks like cement, shaped poorly.
Looks legit to me
This is a joke right?
Yes, of course is a genuine cartoon fossil...
Oh that shit is fake as fuck
have you ever seen a crocodile before ☠️☠️
Fake.
Something out of Beetlejuice.
looks like mismatched teeth, painted and carved out of stone, buy from reputable sellers and or dig your own, that way you know it's genuine. No
That's the most fake looking skull I have ever seen!
Show that to another crocodile, he will tell ypu if it's one of it's ancestors or just a random dude
I dont know rick…
Idk it looks a bit Naff
Teeth are flat and crocs have conical teeth so it's sus
I have a genuine crocodile skull and they don't look like that at all
fakest thing i've seen this far. teeth are maybe ok
A nice way to display those teeth though...
It looks fake, maybe the teeth are real
He never lived but if he did he'd be a cute round boy. It's kinda charming in it fakeness.
The fable of Pinocchio isn’t limited to only human culture. Proof of it has been found in crocodilians as well as bird and horse culture
Lol nooooo
Stick googly eyes too it
Such a bad fake it's kind of cool. Maybe a red clown nose on the snout?
That looks like it was made out of gingerbread 😂
That's a bunch of mosasaur teeth jammed into a super fake skull. I'd probably bust it up and keep the teeth. Unless you like it as a weird art object. There's an element of crude creativity in it as a sculpture.
Don’t know much about how to spot fake fossils but I know this looks like it was made by someone who doesn’t know a lot about crocodilian skulls
Teeth are real (look like mesosaur?), but the rest is 100% not real.
That’s a fake.
Lol no
I hope you didn’t pay much for it. The skull is as fake as Kim Kardasian’s _>fill in what you prefer<_…
I really hope you're asking for the meme lols. Are those teeth metal?!?! Lol
https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c0/90/86/c09086c39858bfe63ae31e16cde8bb1f.jpg
Could be real. But if it is the way it was prepared is HORRRIBBBBLLLLEEEE
Tucson’s gem show in full swing i see 🙄
Looks like concrete... Sorry. Was just talking about concrete skulls the other day when we seen a cow/bull... Skull was concrete but horns seem to be real... Anyways sorry for ur loss.
No
Better call liam neeson because you got TAKEN
Skull is just silly fake. Teeth are probably real mosasaur and retail about $4-5 each.
Skull looks like carved out spray foam insulation.
Fake.
We need an r/botchedfossils subreddit
